IWHBDR Chapter 12

“He’s actually on here? I thought after he did that, he wouldn’t use this account anymore. What’s he thinking?” Chen Jing clearly didn’t expect the other person to continue using this account; it really showed a lack of fear.

“He’s probably just not satisfied after his last attempt and is unwilling to give up,” Rong Shu said, quickly opening the private chat window.

「%&2234: Who are you?」

「…557&%: It doesn’t matter who I am. What matters is that I really hate Shen Huaixiu. He’s just trash from the lower district—why does he get to sit at the same table as the campus heartthrob?」

「%&2234: Do you like the campus heartthrob?」

「…557&%: Who doesn’t?」

「%&2234: What are you planning to do?」

……

Chen Jing looked at Rong Shu’s reply to the other person’s provocative messages. “He can’t possibly believe this, right?”

Rong Shu raised an eyebrow. “Why wouldn’t he believe it? I have posting records and I like the campus heartthrob. I have both motive and intent.”

“…” Chen Jing was a bit reluctant to speak.

「…557&%: I have a plan, but I only discuss it in person. It’s not safe online.」

“Will he agree to meet you if you ask him?” Chen Jing looked at the computer screen sideways, feeling that Rong Shu’s baiting might not go smoothly.

Sure enough, after sending the message, there was no response for a long time.

Rong Shu calmly took a sip from his cup of water, while Chen Jing was less composed. “What if he doesn’t reply?”

“He will. He’s definitely investigating me.”

“Where does this confidence of yours come from? The other party isn’t dumb.”

“But they’re not very smart either. Didn’t you notice that his first question was, ‘Who are you?’ Normally, if someone saw my question, ‘Do you dislike Shen Huaixiu?’ they should have denied it if they weren’t interested. But he didn’t; he admitted it. He asked who I was and didn’t even question how I found his anonymous ID. Do you think he’s smart?”

Rong Shu’s analysis made Chen Jing think he had a point, but he said, “What if the other party is doing this on purpose? What’s his scheme?”

“That’s actually good for us. Our goal is just to meet and find out who this person is. We’re not afraid of his schemes; we’re afraid he doesn’t have any plans at all!”

Chen Jing: “…”

It made so much sense that he was momentarily at a loss for words.

「…557&%: I have evidence against Shen Huaixiu. I saw your post. The problem is that it doesn’t have a solid proof to pin him down, but I have it!」

「%&2234: How can I trust that you’re not lying to me?」

「…557&%: Suit yourself. If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do. I’ll just find someone else. Goodbye!」

「%&2234: Wait.」

「…557&%: Speak.」

「%&2234: We can meet, but I’ll choose the location. It’s too late today; I’ll let you know tomorrow evening. Signing off.」

Seeing the other party’s avatar go dark, Chen Jing said, “Is that it?”

“At least the other party isn’t foolishly agreeing right away and knows to be a bit indirect,” Rong Shu said as he stood up. “We’ll see where he sets the meeting place tomorrow evening. I’m heading back now.”

“Oh, okay. Be careful going downstairs, it’s getting dark,” Chen Jing said, walking him to the door and then remembering, “Aren’t you going to tell him about this?”

He was clearly referring to Shen Huaixiu.

Rong Shu glanced at him and raised the corners of his lips. “You should tell him.”

Chen Jing was momentarily stunned, then instinctively widened his eyes. “What am I supposed to tell him?”

He had prepared himself for Rong Shu to warn him not to tell Shen Huaixiu, but now things were going off-script.

“Of course, you should find an appropriate opportunity to let him know what I’ve done!” Rong Shu’s beautiful peach blossom eyes were filled with anticipation. Chen Jing suddenly felt a mix of emotions. “I thought you wouldn’t want him to know what you’ve done for him?”

“Do you think I have a selfless personality? He should definitely know what I’ve done for him. It’s something he must know.” After saying this, Rong Shu smiled and leaned closer to Chen Jing. “But these words can’t come from me; it’s up to you, Classmate Jing, to help out. I’ll treat you to a meal later!”

Chen Jing sighed lightly. “I really don’t need you to treat me to a meal. I just don’t understand—what do you see in him?”

“He’s good-looking!” There was no need for Rong Shu to tell Chen Jing about the kindness in his heart; let him think that Rong Shu was just shallow and focused on looks.

“…But you’re both Alphas! Can two Alphas really be together?”

Chen Jing was somewhat skeptical about life.

“That’s not something you need to worry about, Classmate Jing. It’s getting late; get some rest.” Rong Shu patted Chen Jing’s shoulder and turned to go downstairs.

Watching Rong Shu leave, Chen Jing sighed softly. Who would have thought that Rong Shu, who had been the most popular male at Federal No. 1 Middle School for two years running, would actually like an Alpha?

As Rong Shu descended the final flight of stairs, the lights that had been on suddenly went out, leaving only the dim light of the night vision.

Blinking, Rong Shu gently pushed open the partially ajar dorm room door. The room was quiet, with only a desk lamp lit, and the bed by the window was empty. Rong Shu instinctively looked for Shen Huaixiu’s figure, but the large room was immediately visible.

The bathroom door across the room was half-open. It looked dark and ominous, like a fierce beast with its mouth open. Rong Shu shut the door, hung his school uniform on a nearby hook, and wondered where Shen Huaixiu had gone at this hour. Just then, the door from the outside was pushed open, and a dark shadow entered. “You’re back!”

Rong Shu was startled and looked up at the newcomer. “Where did you go?”

Shen Huaixiu’s breath was a bit uneven, and there was a faint smell of blood in the air. “Went out for a run.”

“At night?”

“Yes.”

Rong Shu was surprised to learn that Shen Huaixiu had such a habit. “Do you run at night often?”

“Morning runs and occasionally at night.”

“So that’s how it is. Do you need to use the bathroom?”

“I’m not in a hurry; you go ahead.”

Rong Shu didn’t move right away, instead glancing at the desk lamp on the table. “The bathroom is a bit dark.”

His voice wasn’t loud, but it was enough for Shen Huaixiu to hear.

Understanding the implication, Shen Huaixiu’s eyes flickered with a hint of a smile. “You can take the desk lamp in with you.”

“Thanks, you’re really kind.” Rong Shu said this and, before Shen Huaixiu could react, quickly hugged him, then swiftly let go and grabbed the desk lamp, running into the bathroom.

Standing in place, Shen Huaixiu still felt the warmth from the brief touch. Though it was just a fleeting contact, it left a lingering warmth, and the faint, elegant scent of roses—Rong Shu’s fragrance—still lingered in the air.

With the lamp, Rong Shu didn’t dare stay in the bathroom too long. He quickly washed up and then applied a layer of rose-scented body lotion all over himself.

When he opened the bathroom door and walked out, carrying the scent of roses, Shen Huaixiu watched him place the lamp back on the table. Rong Shu was still wearing the silver satin bathrobe, which was now neatly fastened up to the collar, revealing only his slender, fair calves at the hem. “You should go wash up quickly; we need to get up early tomorrow!”

“Alright.” Shen Huaixiu got up and headed towards the bathroom.

Noticing he hadn’t taken the lamp with him, Rong Shu called out, “Aren’t you taking the lamp?”

Shen Huaixiu, already in the bathroom, didn’t turn around and replied in a deep voice, “No need. I’m not afraid of the dark.”

For an Alpha, it’s usually easy to see in the dark.

The recently used bathroom was filled with a sweet, rose-scented fragrance. Yet, beneath this fragrance, there seemed to be a hint of something special.

Standing under the shower, Shen Huaixiu’s dark eyes showed a hint of purple as he closed his eyes, suppressing the heat within him, and adjusted the water temperature to a cooler setting.
