Chapter 3: Ghost Club
“Ghost Club……?”
Houzuki tilted her head at the unfamiliar word.
To begin with, Houzuki has no interest in student life. The only person she can call a friend is Towako, and she has no interest in clubs or after-school events. She’s a boring high school girl.
In contrast, Yuiru and Otoya seem to have some idea about the Psychic Club. They both nodded and said, “Ohh”
“Wasn’t that a group that Irune formed to investigate ghosts?”
“To be precise, it’s a club that investigates whether ‘supernatural phenomena and ghosts really exist’.”
A female student who belongs to that club, who introduced herself as Yomohira, quickly corrected Otoya’s words. She seems to have a very strong passion for the supernatural club.
“And what does that Ghost Club want?”
“I heard that Kasugadani-senpai has a unique constitution that attracts ghosts.”
Houzuki held her head in her hands, wondering where that information had leaked from.
Houzuki has a peculiar disposition that attracts ghosts.
She visited the old school building to discuss her peculiar disposition, and then met Yuiru Enen. He used her disposition to eat ghosts, and Houzuki also used his peculiar disposition of eating ghosts to live a peaceful life.
Was she seen when she went to the old school building when she visited, or else?
“I personally looked into it.”
“Woah……”
For some reason, Yuiru looked taken aback and muttered at Yomohira’s confident declaration. After all, it was the club he started.
“And so, what about my constitution that attracts ghosts?”
“I want you to draw out Irune-senpai who went missing in the old school building.”
“What?”
When Houzuki asked again, Yomohira excitedly approached her.
“It’s rumored that Irune-senpai, who is rumored to have gone missing from the old school building, appears as a ghost. A member of the Ghost Club went to check if this rumor was true, but was found gruesomely murdered. He must have been eaten by Irine-senpai!!”
Behind her glasses, Yomohira’s eyes were bloodshot.
She must really want to meet Irune-senpai, the senior who was the basis for Yuiru. This aggressive side seems to have been passed down to his juniors as well.
Houzuki forced Yomohira away as she approached,
“It’s impossible.”
“Why not?!!”
“Can you see him?”
That was the first problem.
It might be possible to attract Irine Yuen, who is rumored to appear in the old school building, but it would be pointless if she couldn’t see the ghost herself. Communication is a hassle in the first place, so she doesn’t want to get involved.
Ghosts usually don’t say sensible things. Yuiru is the only sensible one, and since Yuiru eats all the insensible ghosts, it’s not a problem.
Yomohira blinked her black eyes and said,
“I can’t see him!!”
“Then it’s impossible, just give up.”
“Please at least mediate the conversation!!”
“Ghosts aren’t normal, they can’t talk.”
“They can talk!! At the very least, I think Irine-senpai still has some sense!!”
“What evidence do you have for that?”
Damn, she was a believer.
Houzuki held his head in his hands.
These kinds of things were really troublesome.
“Irune, why don’t you help her out? Kasugadani has always been taking care of you, hasn’t she?”
Suddenly, Otoya threw Yuiru a look and said that.
Yomohira’s neck turned quickly like a drill.
Otoya’s shoulders jumped in surprise, and he leaned back as Yomohira, who had shifted her target from Houzuki, approached him.
“Is he here? He must be in here!! Irune-senpai is right here, isn’t he!?”
“Well, his appearance has changed though. He is over here……”
“What does he say? Irune-senpai, can you hear me!?”
“Yeahー……”
Otoya looked up at Yuiru. Houzuki also looked at the silver-haired, red-eyed high school boy.
What kind of answer would he give, having transformed into an evil spirit that eats ghosts?
Yuiru folded his arms and thought about his answer, then he suddenly took out a silver knife. It was the utensil he always used to eat ghosts.
Just when people wondered what he was going to do, he plunged the tip of the knife into Yomohira’s forehead.
“Huh, I feel kind of sleepy…”
Suddenly, Yomohira collapsed with a thud.
“What are you doing, Yuiru!?”
“She was being noisy, so I put her in suspended animation. She won’t move for about six hours, so take her to the infirmary or something.”
Yuiru said this nonchalantly,
“More importantly, I didn’t think people in this day and age would be so proactive. If she could see ghosts, she would have been as docile as Houzuki, why is she so active?”
“Isn’t it because of you?”
Otoya, carrying the unconscious Yomohira on his back, glared at Yuiru.
“I was more honest. I did go to dangerous places, although I got scolded to death by the adults. ―― Oh, I’m already dead.”
“Enough with the ghost joke, you.”
Otoya said, “I’ll take this child to the nurse’s office,” and left the science preparation room. It’s likely that some bad rumors will spread, but he’ll be able to get away with it.
The problem is the old school building.
The Ghost Club members are likely to go into the old school building in order to meet with their Irune-senpai. She doesn’t want to have any more casualties.
If it does another harm, Yuiru’s goal to eat the old school building will be not be accomplished.
“Yuiru.”
“What is it, Houzuki?”
“Are you going to eat the old school building?”
“Of course I am. If possible, I can even do it tonight.”
After a short moment of thinking, Yuiru said “Oh” as if he remembered something!
“Houzuki, I have a favor to ask. Will you listen?”
The request was something that Houzuki couldn’t accomplish on his own.
