One week later.
Jiang Wan lay on the bed, taking small sips of congee with preserved eggs and lean pork from Dou Ming’s hand. After finishing, he immediately waved him away, “Go finish your holiday homework.”
“I’m done with it,” Dou Ming replied steadily, “I’ll help you apply some medicine.”
He pulled out a tube of Omega-specific suppositories from the bedside drawer. It was a popular product, specifically designed for Omegas experiencing discomfort during their first heat from the size difference between them and an Alpha.
Jiang Wan scolded him, “Are you satisfied just because you finished your homework? A good student should take the initiative to keep learning! Go on, sign up for a few more online courses, I’ll cover the cost.”
Dou Ming pondered for a moment. “You just don’t want me to apply the medicine, do you?”
Jiang Wan wrapped himself tightly in the blanket, refusing to speak.
Dou Ming’s voice softened. “Don’t resist the medicine. I’ll be gentle.”
If he hadn’t mentioned being gentle, it might’ve been okay. But the moment he said it, Jiang Wan’s temper flared.
“Yesterday, the day before, the day before that, and the day before that, you said the same thing! And what happened? I kept telling you, ‘My waist is about to break!’ But did you stop? I’m not as young as you are!!”
Dou Ming accepted the scolding calmly, and when Jiang Wan finished venting, he softly said, “After applying the medicine, I’ll give you a massage.”
Jiang Wan firmly refused, spitting out two words: “No! Way!”
Dou Ming tried reasoning first, “Don’t punish yourself because of my mistakes.”
Jiang Wan snorted, unmoved.
Then Dou Ming moved into action—
He pinned Jiang Wan down, yanked off the blanket, pulled down his pajama pants, and forcibly inserted the suppository.
Jiang Wan: “!!!”
The process was quick, but to him, it felt like an eternity.
When Dou Ming finally let him go, Jiang Wan lay there, utterly still, his soul seemingly crushed.
Dou Ming offered a few words of comfort, washed his hands, and returned to his room to take online courses.
Jiang Wan couldn’t believe it: Now you decide to be obedient???
Aunt Xue entered the room to clean, and as soon as Jiang Wan saw her, he felt a wave of emotion, his nose tingling. The tears came immediately. “Aunt Xue, you’ve let a wolf into the house!”
Aunt Xue ignored him, rolling up her sleeves and pulling back the curtains, letting sunlight shine directly onto Jiang Wan’s butt as she began mopping the floor.
Jiang Wan, his face angled upward at forty-five degrees toward the morning sun, continued to whimper dramatically, trying to gain sympathy while making as much noise as possible.
“Haven’t you been enjoying yourself these past few days?” Aunt Xue finally couldn’t take it anymore. “I can hear you shouting from downstairs.”
“!!!” Jiang Wan was horrified. “Aunt Xue, I’m a delicate little Omega! How can you say something like that to me?”
Aunt Xue gave a cold laugh. “I watched you grow up. I know exactly how ‘delicate’ you are.”
Jiang Wan had no retort. To his shock, he had just lost a battle of wits against a middle-aged woman.
Holidays always pass quickly, and soon enough, Dou Ming was back to school.
Jiang Wan reluctantly watched him leave, his gaze filled with lingering affection, tender and gentle. This was the instinct of an Omega who had been marked—mentally and physically deeply attached to their Alpha.
He didn’t fight it and indulged in the dizziness of being in love for a while before collecting himself, getting into the car, and heading to the company to deal with business.
There was a stinking homeless man sitting outside the company entrance. The security guards were frowning as they tried to shoo him away, but the homeless man casually pulled out a crumpled cigarette, asking the guards for a light.
“Young man, I’m your bos’ss future father-in-law, so show some respect!”
Even from inside the car, Gang Ya and Du Yanlong could hear the homeless man loud and clear. They turned to Jiang Wan, awaiting his instructions.
Jiang Wan lazily asked Gang Ya, “Is that Dou Deli?”
Gang Ya, who had excellent eyesight and memory even for an Alpha, only needed a glance before confirming, “Yeah, that’s him.”
Tch.
So he’s come to bleed me dry, huh.
Jiang Wan had Du Yanlong call Dou Deli’s creditors, while he got out of the car and walked toward the beggar-looking Dou Deli.
Gang Ya followed behind, staying alert to Dou Deli’s movements.
“Old Dou, finally had enough of hiding? Daring to show your face now?” Jiang Wan asked.
“Boss Jiang!” Dou Deli pushed the security guards aside and turned to Jiang Wan, his eyes gleaming with cunning. “Boss Jiang, I’m glad you’re here. I know all about you and my son now! Our Dou family doesn’t mind your age. Just pay off all my debts, and I’ll have Dou Ming marry you tomorrow. How about it?”
Jiang Wan laughed instead of getting angry. “You’re using your own son to threaten me?”
Dou Deli chuckled sycophantically, “Of course… not.” He pulled a CD from his pocket and waved it in front of Jiang Wan. “Boss Jiang, I have to thank your mother for sending me this precious video. She wanted me to pass on a message—she can’t stand it in the mental hospital anymore. She’s begging you to get her out. Otherwise, this video might just end up online for the whole country to see.”
Behind Jiang Wan, Gang Ya stepped forward, snatched the CD from Dou Deli’s hand, and crushed it into pieces with a single squeeze.
Dou Deli shrugged. “I have backups.”
Jiang Wan nodded. “Gang Ya, why’d you break it? I still wanted to watch it.”
Dou Deli squinted. “Boss Jiang, I’m not joking around here. I don’t care about your mom’s request, but you have to meet my demands. If not, don’t blame me for not showing respect to my future daughter-in-law. You’re a public figure. You wouldn’t want to get caught up in a scandal, right?”
“So it’s about that incident again,” Jiang Wan sighed. “Old Dou, did you watch the CD?”
Dou Deli sneered. “For Dou Ming’s sake, I didn’t watch it. But your mother told me it’s surveillance footage of you spending the night in a room with some Alpha. To be honest, I don’t want Dou Ming marrying an Omega who’s so indecent.”
Jiang Wan stroked his chin thoughtfully. “So you have some sense of decency.”
Dou Deli puffed out his chest. “I can’t stand filthy relationships between Alphas and Omegas!”
“That’s too bad. You should’ve watched the video,” Jiang Wan said sincerely. “If you had, maybe today would’ve turned out differently.”
He looked at the approaching cars behind Dou Deli and kindly warned, “When you get beaten up later, remember to cover your head. It’s best to survive so you can face legal consequences.”
Dou Deli’s heart skipped a beat. He turned to see several menacing men stepping out of the cars behind him—his creditor’s henchmen!
He tried to run, but his legs gave out. In disbelief, he asked Jiang Wan, “Aren’t you afraid of the scandal? If something happens to me, that video will be released! I’m not joking! Help me out now, and we can still negotiate.”
The group of thugs quickly surrounded Dou Deli, and one of them grabbed him like a ragdoll, dragging him toward the car.
Their leader bowed to Jiang Wan. “Jiang Ge, our boss has known about Dou Deli’s whereabouts for a while, but because of his connection to your family, we didn’t dare act. Now that you’ve given the go-ahead, we don’t have to hold back. Rest assured, we won’t dirty your hands.”
Jiang Wan looked at Dou Deli, who was trembling like a leaf, and said kindly, “Just beat him up enough so he’s paralyzed and unable to take care of himself. Don’t kill him, though—murderers have to pay with their lives.”
The leader rubbed his bald head, grinning awkwardly. “Don’t worry, we wouldn’t dare.”
Dou Deli, however, was on the verge of fainting. This Omega may look delicate, but he’s absolutely ruthless!
Being paralyzed? That’s worse than death!
He didn’t think Jiang Wan was joking. Loan sharks like these had plenty of goons willing to do dirty work. At worst, they’d serve a few years in prison, and as long as their boss paid well, they’d gladly do it.
In a panic, Dou Deli begged Jiang Wan, “Boss Jiang, Jiang Ge! If you help me just this once, I’ll destroy the video immediately!”
Jiang Wan smiled. “No worries. Go ahead and release it, I’m actually looking forward to it.”
With Dou Deli restrained, Gang Ya relaxed his guard and couldn’t hold back his curiosity any longer. “You know what’s on the video?”
“My mom recorded it. How could I not know?” Jiang Wan replied with a smile. “She locked me in a room with an Alpha and bolted the door. I couldn’t get out, so I beat that poor Alpha up all night. She thinks that if the video gets out, all the Alphas will think I’m too violent, and no one will want to marry me. Honestly, I’m more worried that my fighting stance was too cool and I might accidentally become internet-famous. Old Dou, your biggest mistake was trusting someone from a mental institution.”
Dou Deli searched Jiang Wan’s face for any signs of lying, but there were none. Jiang Wan was telling the truth—his mom really was that stupid!
Dou Deli, completely defeated, muttered, “No, my biggest mistake was threatening you.” He sobbed pitifully. “Boss Jiang, for Dou Ming’s sake, please don’t let them take me. I… I’m willing to go to prison. I really am.”
Jiang Wan’s smile faded. “You’re not worthy of being a father or even mentioning Dou Ming to me.”
He nodded at the thugs, who promptly covered Dou Deli’s mouth and dragged him away, silencing his pleas.
Once Dou Deli was locked in the car, the leader cautiously approached Jiang Wan. “Rest assured, our boss remembers your words well. We’ll be civil about collecting the debt. If he really can’t pay, we’ll call the police.”
When the boss sent them, he had repeatedly reminded them that, although Dou Deli was a scoundrel, he had a brilliant son, who was practically Jiang Ge’s husband. If they went too far, they might all end up at the bottom of the ocean by tomorrow.
Jiang Wan, unaware of the enduring rumors about him “disposing of people in the ocean”, saw that the leader understood boundaries and nodded approvingly. “That’s the right approach.”
The leader bowed once more, then left with his men in tow.
Watching them leave, Jiang Wan debated whether or not to tell Dou Ming about the incident.
He turned around and saw Gang Ya’s expression was somber, his eyes misty with tears. “How could there be parents like that in the world? You and Dou Ming really are kindred spirits.”
Du Yanlong silently nodded from the side, agreeing that their boss and his spouse had it rough.
Jiang Wan, however, saw things differently. “It just means we’re a perfect match.”
Rather than wallow in sadness, Jiang Wan remained optimistic, making Gang Ya feel even more sorrowful, to the point where he nearly burst into tears with Du Yanlong.
For a moment, Jiang Wan worried he hadn’t paid them enough, thinking Gang Ya might be struggling with his finances.
Gang Ya immediately snapped out of it when he heard this and said, “If you insist on giving me a raise, I wouldn’t say no.”
“Too bad I’m a heartless boss who exploits his employees,” Jiang Wan coldly replied.
Gang Ya: QAQ
Meanwhile, at school, Dou Ming sneezed, and the entire class fell silent, turning to look at him with horror.
Dou Ming: “???”
Zhou Kui, sitting in the back, quietly passed him his phone. “So, did you and Jiang Wan break up after he dropped out?”
“No,” Dou Ming answered, confused, looking at the headline on Zhou Kui’s phone, then reading it aloud, “Tragic yet beautiful Omega catches Alpha cheating: Beats the Alpha senseless in front of shocked onlookers.”
The video showed Jiang Wan pinning a tall Alpha to the ground and mercilessly beating him.
At a glance, Dou Ming knew it was Jiang Wan’s mom behind this mess. Calmly, he explained, “His mom tried to force him to marry that Alpha, so he had to defend himself.”
Zhou Kui: “?? It’s 2022. Moms like that still exist?”
The classmates immediately felt immense sympathy for Jiang Wan and Dou Ming. They crowded around, asking questions.
“How’s Jiang Wan doing?”
“He had to drop out of school, so how do you think he’s doing? Dou Ming, you’re the pride of Class 2. You can’t give in to these backward parents.”
“Maybe you two should elope? I’ll chip in for your escape fund.”
Dou Ming: “…Thanks for the offer, but there’s no need for donations.”
He relayed his classmate’s kindness to Jiang Wan, who chuckled, touched. “These kids really are kind-hearted.”
Dou Ming, feeling a bit sensitive, asked, “So, do you see me as a kid too?”
Jiang Wan patted his head with a fatherly smile. “Consider this making up for your lack of fatherly love.”
Dou Ming pursed his lips, then turned around and closed the bedroom door.
Jiang Wan panicked immediately, “Wait, wait, okay, fine! You’re my daddy, alright? Don’t take off your clothes, stop…!!!”
