Chapter 56: Cleaning Up the Aftermath
“You’re crazy!” A hand smacked the back of my head hard as Fu Su angrily exclaimed.
“Ouch!” I stumbled forward and turned around, only to see Fu Su’s hand covered in fresh blood. It looked like countless poisonous thorns had pierced through his hand, leaving abnormal black wounds. He clenched his blood-stained right hand with his left, glaring at me with anger. “If you’re any later, don’t even think about coming back!”
Suddenly, I didn’t feel like arguing with him anymore. Because of his bleeding hand, he knew that touching me would cause him to be hurt by the thorns, yet he still saved me, despite his hand being covered in blood.
Being saved by the person I despised the most left me with mixed emotions.
“Xiao Lan!” Mo Ming returned to my side with concern. He didn’t have any injuries, while Fu Su looked the most disheveled. Mo Ming’s emerald green eyes still held a serious expression. “Mortals cannot stay in the Demon Realm for long, they will die.”
Die? I turned around to look behind me. Where was that person? He didn’t seem like a demon from the Demon Realm. He had a warmth similar to that of a human. “I almost could see who he was…”
“Do you still have the mind to look at that guy’s appearance? Are you so infatuated with villains, you fool?” Fu Su angrily raised his hand to hit my head again, but Mo Ming reached out to stop him. Suddenly, a golden light fell between me and Fu Su, and a hand bathed in a faint golden glow extended from the light, gripping Fu Su’s hand!
At the same time, Ice Prince’s cold voice came from within the golden light. “It seems you’re still energetic!”
When the golden light dispersed, Ice Prince stood proudly between me and Fu Su. His straight, black hair still had a faint golden shine. He firmly held Fu Su’s hand, his cold gaze shifting to Mo Ming by my side. “Clean up the mess.” His unusually cold voice sounded like a ruthless killer preparing to silence someone.
Mo Ming also looked at him seriously. “Understood.”
Just then, a soul-devouring beast pounced towards us. I immediately shouted, “Be careful!”
Xuan Yuan Chen released Fu Su’s wrist and calmly raised his hand. As his black hair fluttered, a beam of golden light shot out from his hand, instantly piercing through the approaching soul-devouring beast, effectively eliminating it without even looking back!
He only furrowed his brows slightly, then withdrew his hand and frustratingly adjusted the cuff of his sleeve, as if we had interrupted his reading and it had annoyed him.
“Long live Godfather!” I immediately offered up my knee.
Immediately, Fu Su and Mo Ming looked at me stiffly, and Xuan Yuan Chen furrowed his brows and lowered his face. “I’ve told you, don’t call me godfather!”
“Godfather?!” Fu Su’s mouth twitched, and he glanced at Xuan Yuan Chen with a smile that wasn’t really a smile. “So, you guys…”
“No!” Xuan Yuan Chen furrowed his brows again, his face as cold as iron.
Mo Ming stood dumbfounded on the side, as if he had completely forgotten Xuan Yuan Chen’s instructions to clean up. However, it seemed that Xuan and Xiao No had already taken care of the demons.
“Godfather!” I jumped up. “You should have arrived earlier! Look at Fu Su, he got beaten up by that man in black!”
Xuan Yuan Chen’s gaze immediately sharpened, a glint of coldness flashing in his eyes. “Did you see who that person was?”
The Ice Prince seemed to be completely unconcerned about how badly Fu Su was hurt. He was more interested in what that person looked like.
Fu Su was about to speak when his body suddenly staggered, as if he had been enduring pain all this time. He gritted his teeth and stood up. “No.”
Xuan Yuan Chen frowned. “Troublesome. Your loss of control is getting worse. Go back and release the seal.”
“Hmph.” Fu Su sneered and glanced at him. “If we had released it earlier, we could have taken care of that guy today!”
Huh? What do they mean? What seal?
Fu Su’s body staggered again, and Xuan Yuan Chen reached out to hold his arm to prevent him from falling.
Just then, Qing Ming, Xiao Nuo, and Jiang Han approached Xuan Yuan Chen. Xiao Nuo naturally hid behind Qing Ming, who looked at Jiang Han, and Jiang Han glanced at Xuan Yuan Chen indifferently. “The soul-devouring beasts have all been eliminated.”
Xuan Yuan Chen didn’t look at them, maintaining his cold demeanor and not putting anyone in his eyes. “You all have strayed from the Immortal Realm. Despite saving someone, there will still be punishment.”
“We…” Jiang Han suddenly felt dizzy. “We know…” After saying these two words, his body went limp.
“Jiang Han senior!” I exclaimed worriedly. Qing Ming reached out and supported Jiang Han’s unconscious body, and Xiao Nuo peeked out from behind Qing Ming, whispering, “Don’t worry… it’s just… malnutrition…”
I watched anxiously as Jiang Han senior continued to suffer. It wasn’t a solution for him to faint every time he fought. And this time, it was because of me.
“Mo Ming, clean up,” Xuan Yuan Chen said coldly again.
I looked at him in confusion. The soul-devouring beasts had already been cleaned up, so what else was there to clean?
Then I saw Mo Ming take out his phone, and I looked at him curiously, but he walked towards the Gu Mingde family.
I chased after him in astonishment and stood in front of the stunned Gu Mingde family. Ye Jiajia slowly emerged from the ground, glaring at Gu Mingde and Chen Jing with resentment.
“They’re humans! You can’t kill them to keep them silent!” I blocked Mo Ming and he looked at me with confusion.
“Xiao Lan…” Chen Zihan’s voice came from behind, sounding dumbfounded. I turned and gave him a thumbs up. “Don’t worry! I won’t let you die!”
“What… about these people…” he asked.
“We are immortals,” Mo Ming spoke up, leaving Chen Zihan, Yu Lingling, Gu Mingde, and Chen Jing completely dumbfounded.
Mo Ming walked up to me and looked at them expressionlessly. “Now, I’m going to erase your memories.”
They continued to be dumbfounded, as if they had seen aliens or special agents in black suits.
I snapped out of it. “So… you’re just going to erase their memories?” I looked at Mo Ming, who nodded. I saw Ye Jiajia, full of resentment, and said, “Wait a moment.”
Mo Ming looked at me, and I approached Ye Jiajia. “Ye Jiajia, since they’re going to erase their memories, is there anything you want to say or curse at them? Speak up.”
Ye Jiajia slowly reverted back to her original appearance, hiding her terrifying look, causing Gu Mingde and Chen Jing to slowly regain their senses and look at her in fear.
Yu Lingling and Chen Zihan also snapped out of their terror and looked at the three of them in confusion.
Ye Jiajia glared at Gu Mingde, gritted her teeth, and suddenly turned around. “I have nothing more to say. I’m leaving!” After speaking, she disappeared from this world.
“Phew…” Chen Jing let out a sigh of relief. “She’s finally gone.”
Upon hearing those words, I instantly became furious. “How can you be like this! She hated you so much, but still came to save your daughter!”
Chen Jing and Gu Mingde were stunned because of what I said about Ye Jiajia saving their daughter.
Mo Ming looked at me seriously. “That’s absolutely impossible!”
“Jiajia…” Tears streamed down Gu Mingde’s face, and Chen Jing lowered her head in silence, closing her eyes with guilt. “I’m sorry…”
Snap! Mo Ming picked up his phone and tapped it against them. The tears in Gu Mingde’s eyes froze in place, and Chen Jing seemed frozen in time, her guilty expression etched on her face.
Mo Ming then aimed his phone at Yu Lingling, and she immediately raised her hand. “Are you really immortals?”
Mo Ming glanced at her indifferently, and Yu Lingling’s gaze began to wander around. Suddenly, beams of light descended from the sky, and one by one, cats emerged from the light. Some were pushing floating hospital beds, while others headed towards the ruins.
The ruins quickly transformed back into luxurious mansions. Fu su and Jiang Yan were placed on stretchers, Qing ming and Xiao nuo led the floating hospital beds. A flying car emerged from the light, the private car of the aloof Xuan Yuan Chen. When Yu Lingling saw him, she was stunned.
Xuan Yuan Chen got into the car, approached me and Mo Ming, and looked at me coldly. “Xiao Lan, you won’t receive any credits for this mission.”
“Why not!” I stomped my foot in frustration. “It was an accident! It wasn’t me who exposed the immortal realm!”
A glint of coldness flashed in Xuan Yuan Chen’s glasses. “At the moment you connected the signal, you should have notified the immortal realm instead of your roommate. If you had informed me immediately, that person wouldn’t have escaped. Now…” He paused and looked towards the disappearing crack. “You let him get away.”
I was completely exasperated. “Godfather, I really don’t know how that guy managed to escape. Fu su couldn’t defeat him, and at that moment…”
“I know.” He glanced at me lightly, his gaze softening slightly. “You did your best.” With that, he turned his face away. “Let’s go.”
The flying car rose in front of me and flew into the golden light tunnels.
I touched my face, feeling like I had been busy for nothing.
Turning around, I saw Yu Lingling with a lovesick expression on her face. I patted Mo Ming, who pressed a button on his phone. Snap! Yu Lingling’s lovesick expression froze on her face.
