Settings Collection (Part 2) - The Dark Church & Free Alliance

Some random character tidbits not mentioned in the main story.

[Asa]
Red hair, snake-like red pupils, long, slightly wavy hair with textured layers.
Lightning attribute, archer specializing in DPS.
No “Gift” (as the Dark God doesn’t grant them), but has a Divine Buff that adds +10 levels.
He appears bold and rebellious but is actually highly cautious and methodical, preferring to plan everything before acting. He’s not cowardly—within controlled conditions, he will provoke others as much as possible, but he’ll never make unnecessary sacrifices and retreats faster than anyone if things go wrong. Self-preservation is his baseline.

1. Asa is a half-orc, with his mother being a Naga.
2. Asa spent his childhood in the Forest of Green Leaves, living with the orcs under his mother’s protection. After she died, he was left vulnerable and was captured and sold by human traffickers, bearing a slave brand on his neck. After joining the Dark Church, he carved it out with a knife, aided by a priest’s repeated healing spells.
3. He mockingly calls Les “my useless teacher,” but he is incredibly loyal, caring for his disabled teacher and never abandoning him.
4. Asa singlehandedly pushed Les into the position of Pope, although Les had no interest in the role and was of no help throughout the entire process.
5. The Dark God stays physically close to Asa because of his intense negative emotions, which initially attracted the god’s attention. Over time, Asa became skilled at “feeding” him; even during a stroll around the church, Asa won’t forget to offer the god “snacks” of negative spiritual energy. Yes, he’ll sometimes scare unsuspecting believers he passes just to collect energy treats for the god.
6. As a half-orc, Asa’s appetite isn’t large, but he did inherit the orcish trait of being able to go three days on a single meal. If he goes all out, he could easily consume an entire Alvin.
7. Asa went through a period of intense abuse as a child, before he was even ten. He doesn’t care about purity; what he resents is his powerlessness in the face of humiliation.
8. His alias, “Saya,” isn’t a spur-of-the-moment disguise but a baiting tool he crafted to lure prey in Leighton City. Over time, the “red-haired boy Saya” has become a notorious legend there.
9. He dislikes his orcish heritage and, by extension, other non-human species. While he doesn’t care much for humans either, he aligns more closely with them than with non-humans.

[Les]
Black curly hair, green gemstone-like eyes, short hair with a monocle over his right eye.
Wind attribute, alchemist, has modified his body extensively.
No “Gift” (Dark God doesn’t grant them); his levels are achieved through his own body modifications.
He’s a recluse, though not socially anxious—he just dislikes communicating, especially when focused on research. Detached from worldly matters, he’s childishly innocent and fanatical about research. His aura is dark and moody when silent, but his expressions reveal everything the moment he speaks.

1. Les was born a slave, mining for mana crystals.
2. As a child, he learned basic alchemy from a street scam artist.
3. He has poor vision, which he eventually corrected through alchemical modifications, making his eyes look gem-like. His pupils can shift into crosshairs, hollow circles, triangles, or barrel shapes—two of these have corresponding skills, while the barrel shape is just his own aesthetic preference.
4. Les bears a slave brand in the center of his chest. He doesn’t care, but Asa forcibly cut it out.
5. Due to a backlash from a failed alchemy experiment, Les’ stomach is damaged beyond repair, so he can only consume liquids. He insists that drinking alcohol is enough for him, thus avoiding Asa’s “nutritious vegetable smoothies.”
6. His wheelchair, an alchemical creation, can move as fast as a horse and even fly. He crafted a prosthetic for his right leg that would allow him to walk, but he finds floating around in his wheelchair far too comfortable to switch.
7. His right leg aches in winter, which is the only time the Dark God gets to “snack” on his negative energy.
8. Les only found out he was becoming Pope the night before his coronation, when Asa informed him last-minute. He wore a mask for the ceremony, looking cold and aloof, but under it, his expression was one of utter cat-like terror.
9. He modified his brain, enabling instant calculations. He lacks fighting ability, relying entirely on controlling alchemical tools in combat. Overusing his brain causes overload, putting him in a dazed state (forced cooldown).
10. Les loves drinking but has no preference for types of alcohol; though he does lean toward slightly sweet and sour varieties.

[Les & Asa]
Asa was once sold to Les’ master and eventually escaped, with Les and some other miners helping him. This act cost the others their lives, with Les, the ringleader, having his right knee shattered and chained outside the mine as an example.
The miners smuggled food and water to Les, and Asa brought him small animals he could catch, but it was barely enough to keep him alive. Desperate, Les—who was barely an alchemy novice at the time—used mana crystal shards to try modifying his body to survive without food. The attempt failed, irreparably damaging his stomach.
Asa’s intense defiance and hatred attracted the Dark God, who took both of them back to the Dark Church to keep close for “meals.” The church itself is disorganized, with a chaotic mix of good and evil members, and Asa’s cautious personality developed as he cared for his mostly useless teacher, all while hiding the Dark God’s constant presence.
Initially, Asa didn’t consider Les his teacher. But as Asa matured and gained attention within the church, he became aware of his own growing influence. At first, he thought about using his looks, but he hesitated, unsure how the Dark God would react if he got too close to others. Ultimately, he considered scarring his face to avoid any attention, but Les stopped him and created a multipurpose cloak to hide him and offer protection.
Les advised Asa earnestly, “Your body isn’t an alchemical tool; don’t sacrifice it lightly. If you can’t repair your wounds, the pain will stay with you forever, so you need to take care of yourself.”
Young Asa sat curled in a chair, watching Les’ wheelchair float around the room. Without a word, he watched Les modify an incomplete levitating cloak for him. When Les draped the cloak over his shoulders, Asa tugged at his teacher’s sleeve, asking, “Teacher, you like teaching others. Are you missing a student?”
Asa later learned this was Les’ only reliable moment. His “useless teacher” would normally just hide in his room, drink, read, and obsess over endless alchemy experiments, ignoring any paperwork piling up around him.
Les’ greatest “cheat” was accidentally picking up a student who then carried him to the top, effortlessly becoming Pope thanks to his disciple. This reliable behavior would only surface at critical moments, with rare instances you could count on one hand.

[Selina]
Black hair, hawk-purple eyes, tied in a high ponytail, sometimes braided (traditional for the Church of Light).
Fire attribute, swordsman-turned-berserker, centaur. Skilled with a lance.
Her past “Gift” was Conviction (Attack bonus, increased piercing probability), which she lost upon leaving the church.
A mixture of softness and strength, she has an avoidance tendency and willingly abandoned her human identity, transforming into a centaur through a high-level druidic shapeshifting spell.

1. Selina is the only centaur in this world; none existed before her transformation.
2. She can’t sleep standing up like a horse. She either reverts to human form to lie down or rests her upper body against a tree. She once observed wild horses for a long time to try to learn this, but she couldn’t.
3. Born with tremendous strength, even as a human, she could lift an adult Alvin with one hand. In her centaur form, she can lift two without effort. Her charge attack guarantees piercing damage, and her single-target attack is the highest in the game.
4. The name “Free Alliance” was first made up by Selina to scare off human traffickers trying to capture young non-humans in the Forest of Green Leaves.
5. Selina always felt guilt toward non-humans; her initial intention was to die to repay Urea’s sins. However, she unexpectedly gained forgiveness and trust, forming the Free Alliance to unify non-humans as a force to resolve conflicts with humans externally. She does not intervene in non-human internal affairs.
6. Selina is no longer human but an orc. When she joined the non-humans, she abandoned her human identity, with druidic assistance transforming her life form completely. Her true form is now centaur.
Her ability to transform into a human is similar to how young orc children start as beasts and later become orcs; they can revert to beast form to aid recovery or for battle. Selina’s “primal form” is human.
Since centaurs didn’t exist before, her form reflects her inner spirit, determined by druidic magic—each transformation aligns with the person’s soul. The former paladin thus became a centaur.
(If Alvin ever underwent druidic shapeshifting, it’s unclear what he’d become—perhaps even a golden-furred dog with shiny ears!)

[Lily]
Black hair, green eyes, long hair tied with a delicate vine decorated with small white flowers (braided by Selina).
Nature attribute, mage, trained in both healing and attack spells.
No “Gift” (unbeliever).
A beauty lover, with a childlike moodiness, sometimes friendly and other times suddenly antagonistic.

1. Lily is the only daughter of the elf queen, thus the princess and heir of the elf race. Twenty years ago, during Urea’s invasion of the Forest of Green Leaves, she got lost in the chaos and was captured by traffickers. Heartbroken, the elf queen nearly started a war.
During this time, Selina, who had left the church, met with the elf queen, hoping to atone for Urea’s sins. Prepared to die, Selina found the queen planning to rally all non-humans against humanity. She intervened, swore an oath, and within three days, saved Lily, who was still in transit and unaware of the war she almost started.
2. Non-humans are generally simple-minded. Elves, despite appearing the “smartest” among them, have intelligence on par with orcs.
3. Most elves are archers, with a few mages/rangers and some swordsmen/apothecaries. There have never been elven berserkers or assassins.
4. All non-humans have elemental power, with dryads, elves, and druids uniquely attuned to the Nature attribute. Only mixed-bloods might have other elements, but the Nature element dominates, like how Alvin’s fire attribute is hidden under his light powers.
As descendants of Nature, the original non-humans inherited exceptional physical traits, gaining strength in the Forest of Green Leaves.
5. Elves have green eyes that deepen with age. Adults have deep green eyes, while Lily’s eyes are the color of fresh leaves.
6. Lily insists she’s an adult, despite not yet reaching adulthood, mainly to avoid the “cruel ghost Knight Commander” she fears might kidnap her if she’s caught awake at night.
7. When Lily was rescued, she first saw Selina…and immediately cried, begging to stay by the purple-eyed beauty’s side. Unable to refuse, the elf queen assigned a team to guard her, which is why Selina is always followed by elves.
8. Lily once fell asleep on Selina’s back, drooling on her, which was when Selina discovered a centaur’s greatest drawback—she couldn’t reach her own back. That day, Selina stood silently under a waterfall, contemplating her horse-like existence.

[Non-Humans]
This continent’s life forms are generally divided into humans, non-humans, magical beasts, and magical entities. Non-humans include elves, druids, dryads, dwarves, and orcs. Orcs further divide into snake people, bear people, wolves, etc.
Non-humans did not originally exist on this continent; they evolved with Nature’s blessings, transforming from humans, animals, and plants into a new form of life. They were bound to Nature, while The Lord blessed the magical entities, resulting in long-lasting conflict. After Nature’s fall, the Forest of Green Leaves became the non-human sanctuary, repelling other divine forces, including the Light and Dark gods, unless they earn non-human trust.
