I Woke up and Got Married Chapter 11

Just as Qin Suitian finished speaking, Chi Suinian’s hand holding the wine glass trembled, spilling the bright red liquid all over the table. He slammed the glass down heavily, his face dark and stormy. “What did you say?”

Qin Suitian seemed to realize he had misspoken. He closed his mouth, raised the glass, and drank it in one gulp as an apology. “Sorry, I’ve had too much to drink and forgot that you and President Lu are still at odds.”

When Chi Suinian first regained consciousness, he hadn’t told Qin Suitian the truth about his amnesia. But this matter was significant and couldn’t be kept hidden forever. Qin Suitian knew it was only a matter of time, and he didn’t try to argue.

“Is the company having financial issues?” Chi Suinian asked.

Qin Suitian hummed thoughtfully, swallowed his drink, and said, “Yes, there’s a lack of working capital. We can’t fund next month’s project launches.”

Chi Suinian’s expression grew serious. “How much assets do I still have under my name?”

Qin Suitian pondered for a moment. “Almost all real estate has been mortgaged. Cash is under five million, and the only valuable thing left is probably the shares.”

After a pause, he continued, “But selling external shares would be irrational. Although Chi Mingyao doesn’t have inheritance, he has been diligently accumulating scattered shares over the years. If your shareholding becomes too low, he will definitely find a way to weaken your influence.”

Therefore, the best solution is to find a partner for financing, leveraging external funds to achieve a win-win situation. However, preparing all the necessary documents to approach a lending company in such a short time was unrealistic, so he could only seek help from acquaintances.

In Qin Suitian’s list of candidates, there was only one person: Lu Zhiyue.

At this point, a long silence fell between them.

Borrowing money from Lu Zhiyue was akin to pressing Chi Suinian’s long-held pride against the ground. If he didn’t borrow from Lu Zhiyue, the company might collapse due to a broken capital chain, leading to debts or even bankruptcy.

A perfect, flawless deadlock.

Chi Suinian was almost amused by this bizarre situation.

Since waking up, everything that had happened to him was bewildering. One unexpected event after another had rushed in, leaving him no time to breathe, and he was inexplicably pushed into the current predicament. Chi Suinian didn’t know whom to blame.

Seeing Chi Suinian remain silent for a long time, Qin Suitian said, “I know you can’t accept your relationship with Lu Zhiyue right now, but this is the best solution I can offer. Please consider it.”

Chi Suinian left Qin Suitian’s home, carrying a belly full of displeasure.

When he went downstairs, it was already midnight. The rain had just stopped, and the air was damp and cool. The bustling streets were brightly lit by neon lights, with few cars on the road, making it very quiet.

Chi Suinian stood by the roadside, trying to hail a taxi, intending to find a hotel to stay.

Although he was on the brink of bankruptcy and the company was financially strained, he could still afford the cost of a room.

But perhaps due to bad luck, his phone showed no responses to his ride requests, and the taxis seemed to have already agreed among themselves, with none approaching him.

…He had never been so unlucky.

He stood crookedly for a while when his phone in his pocket suddenly vibrated.

Tang Jin asked if he had gotten home and where he was staying for the night.

Chi Suinian glanced at the empty street and replied grumpily, “Staying on the street.”

A shabby place without even a car—how dare he call it the city center?

“…” Tang Jin thought he had nowhere to go and paused for a moment before saying, “Give me a location, I’ll pick you up.”

“No need, I’ve booked a hotel room.” Chi Suinian clicked his tongue. He was a bit tired from standing and turned to sit down at the roadside bus stop. “I have something to ask you. How much money do you have on hand?”

“Let me think…” Tang Jin paused for a few seconds before saying, “About two million yuan. Why, are you short on money?”

Two million was less than one-tenth of the financial shortfall.

Chi Suinian frowned. “You’re a rich second-generation, and your family hasn’t gone bankrupt. How come you only have this much money?”

Tang Jin, having been kicked while being upright, was almost enraged and nearly broke his defenses. “Damn it! Can you, Mr. Chi, have some face? I have a father three feet above me. Getting pocket money from him is as devout as worshipping Buddha! This is it! I can even save two million! Two million! Not two hundred bucks! It’s already a merit to the family’s honor, okay? That kid Lu Heng is not even as good as me. You should stop talking arrogantly.”

“…” Chi Suinian rubbed his ears, numb from the vibration. “Got it, you, Young Master Tang, are the most awesome.”

After hanging up the phone, Chi Suinian stood by the roadside for a while, canceled his ride order, and stormed back to Qin Sui Tian’s home in a furious manner.

Lu Zhiyue had returned home by two in the morning and walked into the master bedroom in the dark.

Bathed in the dim moonlight, Lu Zhiyue’s gaze swept over the impeccably made bed, the spotless bathroom, and the eerily empty house, as if it stretched on forever.

Young Master Chi was known for his fiery temperament. He probably wouldn’t be coming back today.

Lu Zhiyue didn’t realize he was already extremely irritated. He couldn’t figure out what Chi Suinian wanted. Every time he thought he was being considerate, it ended up as an inexplicable provocation, making Chi Suinian furious.

He took his car keys and turned to leave but saw a taxi with its night lights flashing slowly pulling up in front of the door through the window at the end of the second-floor corridor.

After a short while, a familiar figure pushed open the door, yawned, and got out from the back seat.

Then, he slowly walked into the villa’s gate.

A subtle smile curled up at the corner of Lu Zhiyue’s lips.

He didn’t go downstairs. Young Master Chi hadn’t cooled off yet, and he worried he might say something wrong again and lose his temper, so he turned back to his room.

Young Master Chi was exhausted and couldn’t help but take a nap in the car. When the driver finally woke him up by shouting after a long time, he had planned to talk to Lu Zhiyue first thing the next morning. But upon going upstairs, he saw the guest bedroom door slightly ajar, with the lights brightly on inside.

Lu Zhiyue wasn’t asleep?

Chi Suinian rubbed his head to stay awake. It was quiet late at night. Dragging his tired steps, he pushed open the door.

Inside, Lu Zhiyue was changing clothes to take a shower. As he removed his shirt, he suddenly felt a chill on his back.

He frowned and turned his head, locking eyes with Chi Suinian.

Lu Zhiyue maintained an excellent physique—broad shoulders, a tight waist, muscles toned and smooth without being exaggerated. The light reflected off the dark balcony glass, casting a bright gleam and highlighting his clear, resolute jawline.

“……”

“……”

Chi Suinian touched his nose, frowned, and turned the accusation back on Lu Zhiyue. “Why didn’t you close the door while changing clothes?”

Lu Zhiyue turned his face back, put his shirt on again, and said, “I didn’t hear you knocking.”

That’s because I didn’t knock at all, Chi Suinian thought bitterly.

After getting dressed, Lu Zhiyue turned back, “Do you need something?”

Chi Suinian hesitated, then gritted his teeth and boldly said, “Lu Zhiyue, I need to talk to you about something.”

Lu Zhiyue frowned, his gaze dropping as he glanced at the light blue folder in Chi Suinian’s hand, his chest sinking slightly. “What do you want to talk about?”

“Take a look at this…”

This was the second time Chi Suinian had handed over such serious documents to him. Lu Zhiyue was irritated, his brow twitching. “The contract period is three years. I won’t accept an early divorce.”

“……”

Chi Suinian glared. “You damn bastard! Can’t you stand the bullshit marriage agreement for a day?”

Lu Zhiyue, unmoved, replied, “It’s not that I’m bothered by you, but the fake marriage agreement was written by you. You can’t go back on your word.”

“You little…”

Midway through his curse, Chi Suinian cut himself off, grinding his teeth. “Mr. Lu, if I say one more thing to you, you’re dead!”

Lu Zhiyue slowly blinked and turned to look out the door.

But Chi Suinian had already turned to leave, slamming the thin door with a loud bang.

“……”

The next day, Chi Suinian opened his eyes to see the wrinkled documents he had hastily prepared overnight on the bedside table.

These pieces of torn paper bore witness to his foolish behavior last night. The man surnamed Lu was simply uncommunicative.

Chi Suinian stared at the papers for a few seconds, clicked his tongue impatiently, rolled over on the bed, pulled open the drawer, crumpled the documents into a wrinkled pile of trash, and threw them into the back of the drawer.

He slept until noon. When he went downstairs, lunch was already set up in the dining room, but there was no sign of Lu Zhiyue.

Chi Suinian’s mood instantly lifted. He even ate an extra half bowl of lunch. After finishing, he put down his chopsticks, and his phone lit up again.

[Qin Suitian: How’s it going? Did Lu Zhiyue agree?]

Agree to what? Chi Suinian took a sip of water, put down the cup, and typed back: [No.]

[Qin Suitian: How come? Your offer was very tempting. Lu Zhiyue had no reason to refuse.]

[Chi: Because he’s stupid.]

[Qin Suitian: ……]

[Qin Suitian: Anyway, Lu Zhiyue is always more reliable than external lending companies. Young Master Chi, I’ve inconvenienced you for the sake of the company.]

“……”

If he wasn’t fully aware of Qin Suitian’s pragmatic work style, he might have thought the guy was giving some demoralizing speech.

After making harsh statements last night, it was too embarrassing to go find Lu Zhiyue to grovel now.

Chi Suinian thought it over and considered his sports cars that had gathered three months of dust in the garage. Although the villa had been seized, the sports cars were his. Selling them all should cover this gap.

Without hesitation, Chi Suinian contacted a familiar car dealership and sold all his collected sports cars from the past few years in a lump sum.

After selling them, Chi Suinian felt a pang of regret.

“There are 13 cars in total. Are you sure you want to sell all of them?” The dealership owner looked at the courtyard full of various luxury cars, somewhat dazzled.

Chi Suinian closed his eyes and looked away. “Yes… sell them all.”

The dealership owner, who was an old acquaintance of Chi Suinian, knew he was reluctant. “Aren’t these cars your treasures? You fought hard to collect them and then just sell them. Can you really let go?”

Of course, he was reluctant, but he was cornered. Selling the cars would allow him to buy again if needed, but without the company, he would be left with nothing.

Biting his back molar, Chi Suinian replied coolly, “Let’s sign the contract.”

The dealership owner nodded. “Alright, since we’re old friends, I won’t shortchange you. I’ll give you this amount…”

He wrote a number on the paper and pushed it to Chi Suinian. “Deal?”

Chi Suinian lowered his gaze and glanced around. His eyes suddenly grew cold. “Boss Lin, did you forget a zero?”

The dealership owner shook his head with a faint smile. “No, after all, these are second-hand cars. You’re in a hurry to sell, and I had to work hard to find buyers. If they don’t sell in a few months, I’ll have to scrap them. I won’t make much profit.”

Chi Suinian sneered. “Boss Lin, do you think I don’t know what I’m doing? Some of these models are rare and sought after. You think this price covers all of them?”

“Yes. Since you know the industry, you should understand that many items are either discontinued or valuable.” The owner smiled sweetly, trying to persuade him. “You need the money urgently, and this is a small business for me. I can only offer this much… What do you say? Shall we sign the contract?”

Chi Suinian furrowed his brows. This man was clearly taking advantage of the situation, knowing he was desperate for funds, maliciously depressing the price to benefit himself.

Chi Suinian sneered, stood up. Boss Lin thought he was about to agree and hurriedly waved his assistant to prepare the contract. However, Chi Suinian turned and left, instructing someone to drive the cars back into the garage.

Boss Lin stood dumbfounded for a moment, then ran out the door. “You… aren’t selling them?”

Chi Suinian glanced at him coldly. “Yes, I’m not selling them.”

Lu Zhiyue had just finished a meeting and was coming out when his female assistant in high heels immediately reported several missed calls during the meeting. They were all invitations for partnerships, either business meetings or dinners and drinking sessions—nothing significant.

Lu Zhiyue said, “I’ve declined all of them.”

“Alright.” Nearing the office, the assistant took a couple of quick steps, opened the office door, and continued, “Oh, and one hour ago, your husband came to the company to see you. I arranged for him to wait in the downstairs lounge…”

Lu Zhiyue paused, standing at the half-open door. “Who?”

The female assistant was taken aback. “Your husband, Chi Suinian.”

Lu Zhiyue immediately pulled back his legs as he stepped into the office, turning to walk towards the employee lounge. His usually calm expression momentarily cracked with a hint of joy.

The female assistant hurriedly said, “President Lu, there’s another departmental meeting coming up…”

“Meeting postponed. Wait for my notification!”

“…Okay.”

Chi Suinian sat in the guest lounge of Lu Group, clutching a crumpled contract, his eyes fierce and his face gloomy, looking very unapproachable.

Employees outside the glass walls curiously observed the handsome young man inside. Work was tedious, and a few young men and women couldn’t help but gossip softly:

“Who is that? So good-looking. Is he the new brand ambassador?”

“Impossible. I’m active in all the major fan circles on Weibo. If I’ve seen his face, I would have some impression.”

“Maybe a rookie? Didn’t we hear that President Lu is planning to acquire an entertainment company? Perhaps he’s a newly signed idol?”

“Possible… But he looks a bit fierce. Don’t you think that kind of personality is unpopular with fans?”

“You don’t know anything. Now, fierce little wolf dogs are popular. That soft and cute style has been gone for a long time.”

“I have a feeling he’ll be really popular… President Lu!”

“President Lu.”

The office instantly fell silent. The young employees who were gossiping quickly dispersed, noisily digging through files and tapping keyboards, suddenly busy again.

Lu Zhiyue walked straight through the office area without looking around, heading directly to the lounge.

The employees who had been chatting together collectively sighed in relief. They wanted to continue watching the gossip from afar, but Lu Zhiyue glanced outside, then closed the blinds.

In the last second before their vision was blocked, they saw the fierce-looking young man slam a document onto President Lu’s desk unceremoniously, glaring at the man in front of him like he was collecting a debt.

“Look, just a loan.”

Lu Zhiyue was stunned for a moment, then smoothed out the wrinkled papers on the desk, reading them word by word, his brow furrowing tighter and tighter.

After a while, Lu Zhiyue looked up. “Are you here to ask me for a loan?”

Borrowing money from Lu Zhiyue was truly a test of pride. Chi Suinian rubbed his temples irritably, feeling almost unable to sit still. “Almost. I won’t take advantage of you. The contract states a three-percent interest, fully repayable with principal and interest within two years.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Zhiyue closed the folder and returned it without any changes, his tone cold. “Sorry, my company doesn’t offer loan services.”

This outcome didn’t surprise Chi Suinian. His relationship with Lu Zhiyue was already very tense. They might not even greet each other when they met, let alone engage in such large-scale financial transactions.

He was so angry he was almost dizzy, coming here just to humiliate himself. Chi Suinian picked up the documents and stood up. “Got it.”

He then walked out with an expressionless face.

But after taking a few steps, Lu Zhiyue grabbed his wrist. Chi Suinian was startled, his face instantly darkening. “What are you doing?”

Lu Zhiyue tightly held his hand, his tone almost interrogative. “Is this the thing you wanted to show me last night?”

He had an excellent memory. Even if he had only glanced briefly last night, he could clearly remember it.

“Yes, but I don’t want to borrow anymore. Let go.” Chi Suinian’s fingertips turned white as he held the documents. He was now like a cat laying his belly bare, exposing all his weaknesses, allowing Lu Zhiyue to ridicule and attack him.

Ironically, these weaknesses were the very things he had brought before Lu Zhiyue.

Lu Zhiyue held his wrist tightly, his brows slightly lowered. “Your company is having problems. Why didn’t you tell me?”

Chi Suinian twisted his brows, his eyes filled with hostility. “Lu Zhiyue, let go.”

Chi Suinian struggled, trying to twist his wrist.

Lu Zhiyue stared at his facial features, seemingly confused. Suddenly, he pushed Chi Suinian against the wall and held him down.

“???”

The blinds were pressed open, and Chi Suinian seemed to hear the sounds of employees outside crazily gossiping, clicking, and shuffling. His eyes narrowed dangerously. “Lu Zhiyue! Do you want to die?”

Lu Zhiyue’s voice was hoarse. “Chi Suinian…!”

Chi Suinian was stunned. Since waking up, this was the first time Lu Zhiyue had called him that. His voice was low and deep, as if suppressing some hidden emotion. “Since you woke up in the hospital, you’ve been giving me the cold shoulder. You haven’t said a kind word. What did I do wrong for you to treat me like this? Or have you grown tired of me so quickly?”

Chi Suinian: “I f***—”

“A year ago, you sweet-talked me, tricked me into being with you, and then ruthlessly abandoned me. What kind of scum are you?”

Chi Suinian: “…………” He felt a guilty sense of conscience being interrogated.

“It was you who pursued me in the first place. You must take responsibility.”

Chi Suinian looked at Lu Zhiyue in disbelief. The man’s eyes were filled with resentment, like a spoiled young maiden.

Under the bright daylight, with a clear sky, Chi Suinian suddenly shivered, his gaze at Lu Zhiyue looking as if he had seen a ghost.

“Aren’t you here to borrow money?” Lu Zhiyue said in a composed voice, “Kiss me, and I’ll give you whatever you need.”

Chi Suinian snapped a pen in half.

What the hell.
