After entering the kitchen, Qiu Zhenyang turned on the display on the fridge door. In an instant, the refrigerator door became transparent, and all the ingredients inside were clearly visible. At the same time, a small panel popped up next to each item on the door panel, complete with the name, a short introduction, and even shelf life accurate to the seconds.
Glancing at the food inside, Qiu Zhenyang was sure that he didn’t recognize anything apart from the few fruits he had already eaten.
“Sigh, what are all these things…” After complaining, Qiu Zhenyang read through the introductions with resignation.
Fortunately, the introductions are quite clear. Although there are several that look a bit strange, the words to describe taste are similar to some things from his original world. After looking at it for a while, he selected a few ingredients, and picked them up from the box that popped out below. After tasting, he discovered the taste was also quite similar.
Provided he pairs things reasonably and adds appropriate seasoning, his cooking should not be too unpalatable.
Seasoning is one of the key steps. After all, the reason why normal food can become so unpalatable must be related to the ingredients and cooking methods. The world is technologically advanced, but some life choices are extremely weird. People don’t seem to have realized that food can taste good, or did not pay attention to this at all, which led to the current status quo.
In short, while he can’t control others, he can’t treat his own tongue poorly.
Qiu Zhenyang selected some vegetables with more familiar taste and texture, and chose a meat similar to pork belly. After washing these ingredients, he cut them up, and put them on a plate. Then he opened the seasoning cabinet to study the seasonings inside.
These condiments were also prepared by the bodyguards. Each condiment was placed in a separate small labeled box.
“Caiyu powder? Posey water? What are these?”
Qiu Zhenyang’s head hurt. He has no idea what seasonings these are. It seems that he can only test “poison” by himself!
He hooked each condiment with his index finger and put it in his mouth to taste. Although most of them had an indescribable taste, fortunately he found some relatively normal condiments.
There is a pink-looking liquid that tastes like salt water, with a slightly unnoticeable sour tinge. The viscous milky white liquid has a fragrant sweetness. And there’s a pale blue lump that tastes a bit like butter, which can be used as a substitute for oil.
With a pen in hand, Qiu Zhenyang replaced the labels with words, such as, “salt”, “sugar”, “oil” and so on, to deal with it for now.
With ingredients and seasonings ready, Qiu Zhenyang waved his hand – ready to cook!
First, boil the meat in a pot with cold water. Then, put the “oil cubes” in another pot and heat it up until it melts, and then add the cut vegetables in the pot. Although the ingredients are unfamiliar ingredients, the overflowing aroma from the pot is very familiar.
Qiu Zhenyang curled his lips with satisfaction. After stirring for a few times on high heat, he added the “salt”, and after stirring evenly, he picked out two pieces to taste. This kind of vegetable itself is relatively soft and easy to cook. If cooked longer, it won’t taste good, so Qiu Zhenyang immediately took them off the stove.
The stewed meat began to turn frothy, but because there was nothing similar to ginger or cooking wine, Qiu Zhenyang could only throw in a fruit that was deodorizing based on the introduction.
After the cooked meat is poured out and washed in cold water, he put them in a pot where the “sugar” was simmering and stir-fried a few times. After adding some water and sprinkling with salt, he added a few chocolate-looking blocks to replace dark soy sauce, and let it steam.
Qiu Zhenyang was preparing the meal for Ling Mu, Ling Dang, and himself, so he made two dishes and one soup. The soup was stewed with some kind of fish, with only a little “salt” added. Although it wasn’t as delicious as the ones he drank before, it made Qiu Zhenyang, who had not eaten normal food for a while, burst into tears!
When Ling Mu picked up Ling Dang and came back, he smelled a fragrance from the kitchen that he had never smelled before.
“Brother, brother, brother, what is that, it’s so fragrant!” Ling Dang was so excited that she turned into a chicken, tugging on Ling Mu’s hand. There was a suspicious crystalline wetness on her lips.
Unable to bear her dragging, Ling Mu let go of his sister’s hand and walked to the kitchen.
He was also curious about what Qiu Zhenyang was doing.
“Ling Mu? Are you back?” Qiu Zhenyang just came out of the kitchen. He smiled brightly when he saw the pair of them. “Perfect timing, the braised meat and fish soup are almost done. They’ll be ready to eat after you guys take a shower.”
Ling Mu frowned. His eyes squinted at the pink apron on Qiu Zhenyang’s body, and the corners of his mouth twitched violently. “What are you doing?”
“I’m cooking.”
Chef Qiu, the little cooking expert, didn’t think anything was wrong. His eyes were shining, and “I’m so good, praise me!” was written all over his face.
In Ling Mu’s eyes, he was nothing but a trash who could only open his mouth and eat, let alone cook? Ling Mu wondered if Qiu Zhenyang was trying to poison them… Although this poison smelled good…
Qiu Zhenyang didn’t see anything on Ling Mu’s face, so he pushed Ling Mu upstairs quite excitedly. As he walked away, he greeted Ling Dang, “Ling Dang go take a shower with your brother first. Ling Mu, bring your clothes to my room and wash up. I won’t go up until you come back down.”1QZY has a bathroom in his room
He thought about cutting a plate of fruit while the brothers and sisters were taking a bath, so they could pad their bellies with fruit first before trying his craft.
“Wait a moment. Ling Dang, go up and wash first.”
Ling Mu caught Qiu Zhenyang, and turned sideways to signal Ling Dang to go up first.
The little girl couldn’t wait to eat, so she skipped upstairs.
Hearing the sound of Ling Dang closing the door upstairs, Ling Mu looked at Qiu Zhenyang with a solemn expression.
“What’s wrong?” Qiu Zhenyang realized something, and his originally excited mood gradually calmed down.
Ling Mu hesitated for a moment, then lowered his head and opened the bag that belonged to his sister, and took out the bottle of water that had been stuffed into it before.
It’s the bottle Qiu Zhenyang gave him.
“You didn’t drink?” The corners of Qiu Zhenyang’s lips fell, and the light in his eyes faded.
He bought so much water just for Ling Mu, but now the person who should drink it the most didn’t drink, while those who received it to mask his true purpose drank it. Even if Qiu Zhenyang told himself that Ling Mu might have other reasons, he still felt very uncomfortable.
Ling Mu pursed his lower lip. Omegas are very sensitive, especially towards the alphas who marked them. He could clearly feel the unpleasant breath Qiu Zhenyang was suppressing.
“Don’t do this kind of thing again, lest others misunderstand.” Ling Mu handed the water over, but the opposing party didn’t pick it up.
“Misunderstanding? What is there to misunderstand? We are friends, aren’t we? I gave water to everyone in my class. They’re all people I want to befriend, like you. Why are you the only one who refuses?”
Qiu Zhenyang couldn’t control it; he didn’t know why he was so unhappy.
It was the first time that he wanted to be nice to a person, the first time he showed his kindness so urgently, the first time he used so many people as a cover… He just wanted to use this to tell everyone that he was covering Ling Mu, and to tell Ling Mu that he was someone he could rely on.
What went wrong?
“If you feel guilty about breaking off the engagement, you really don’t have to.” Ling Mu’s hand remained unmoved; Qiu Zhenyang didn’t take it, and he didn’t take it back either. “We can’t be friends, we’re not from the same world.”
“We can’t be friends?” Qiu Zhenyang sneered, his eyes half shuttered. “So you are reminding me that we can have another, more intimate relationship?”
“I didn’t say that.” Ling Mu’s expression became more and more irritated. He wanted to punch Qiu Zhenyang, but he couldn’t!
He felt that Qiu Zhenyang was playing tricks and making fun of him. Isn’t this what these rich young masters always did? He was very clear – after all how much malice did he receive over the years?
But there was another voice in Ling Mu’s heart shouting: You are getting closer to him, aren’t you? Otherwise, how could you accept his crystal cores, accept his food, and become roommates?
Ling Mu’s brain was about to explode, but Qiu Zhenyang didn’t let him go: “But that’s what you just said.”
“I didn’t! No! You’re f*cking sick, Qiu Zhenyang!”
“Yes, I am,” Qiu Zhenyang looked at the furious Ling Mu calmly. “It’s up to you, are you willing?”
Ling Mu felt powerless as he looked at the other side in frustration. His voice was suppressed as he said, “Qiu Zhenyang, why don’t you go to Cheng An’an?”
Qiu Zhenyang frowned. “He’s a piece of shit, why are you mentioning him?”
Ling Mu wanted to laugh, but his face was ugly. “You broke up with me for him, and now you tell me this? Qiu Zhenyang, what is the most important thing in your eyes?”
The most important thing? Qiu Zhenyang didn’t know the answer either.
He couldn’t bear Ling Mu treating him as the original body again and again, and the prejudice from Ling Mu’s words made Qiu Zhenyang’s heart even more unhappy. He only really wanted to be nice to Ling Mu, but the original bastard left him so many difficulties!!!
“Is it fun to play with me?” Seeing that Qiu Zhenyang couldn’t answer, Ling Mu’s eyes were full of grief and anger, like a little beast trapped in despair. “What else do I have of value? I have nothing more to lose. Qiu Zhenyang, I will not be your toy, nor will I be your tool!”
“Sorry.” Qiu Zhenyang wiped his face and took a deep breath. “I didn’t mean to belittle you. I was too excited. I shouldn’t have lost my temper at you.”
Qiu Zhenyang was heartbroken to hear Ling Mu’s words.
He knew that Ling Mu couldn’t be blamed for what happened today. In the end, Ling Mu’s attitude was correct. If he wasn’t the new person in this shell, who would believe the attitude of this young master Qiu who went against his family to break the engagement?
Qiu Zhenyang’s sudden apology made Ling Mu’s mind complicated, and he didn’t respond for a while. No one has ever humbled themselves to him, and those who hurt him before never took his feelings to heart.
Seeing Ling Mu frowning and not speaking, and even a little helpless in the face of his apology, Qiu Zhenyang’s heart softened a little.
He raised his hand and rubbed Ling Mu’s thorny head twice. Feeling the extremely soft feel of the short black hair, Qiu Zhenyang couldn’t help rubbing a few more times.
Ling Mu abruptly knocked off the hand on his head, but his ears were flushed red.
“I’m going out for a walk, and will be back later.” Qiu Zhenyang forced a smile, took off the apron, and left the dorm in Ling Mu’s complicated eyes.
Yay! Go LM, stand up for yourself! 💪
