Shen Dai sat not far from Qu Moyu, quietly watching this person he once loved. This person who once had a halo on his head, was engraved in his heart. He once illuminated and warmed him even in the darkest moments. Sometimes he couldn’t understand why the person who saved him was also the person who had pushed him off a cliff with his own hands.
Now the answer no longer mattered. This time, he had climbed up by himself. He no longer needed anyone’s hand.
Shen Dai calmly said, “What explanation do you want?”
Qu Moyu was slightly stunned. He had a belly full of words he wanted to say. But for a moment, he didn’t know which sentence to start with. When he calmed down from his anger, he began to doubt the various inconsistencies. He easily found the child’s birth records – 36 weeks premature. It could only be his.
The wild joy in that instant far outweighed the hidden dangers of having an illegitimate child.
However, the room full of Bai Xiangwan’s pheromones was real. The child being his didn’t mean Shen Dai hadn’t betrayed him. Reason also forced him to become wary of Shen Dai’s purpose in doing this.
With the most wanted secret hidden being exposed, Shen Dai instead gave up completely. The child was already born, what could Qu Moyu do to them now?
Qu Moyu narrowed his eyes, “You broke the agreement.”
“I am Shen Yue’s guardian. I don’t agree to a paternity test. Even if you forcibly do one, it won’t have legal effect,” Shen Dai’s gaze was deep. But it was very firm. “My child has nothing to do with you.”
Qu Moyu said coldly, “What game are you playing? I don’t know how you managed to keep this child. You have gone to such lengths. Tell me, what do you want?”
“I don’t want anything. I’m not lacking anything.”
“I’ve seen this act of playing hard to get many times.” Qu Moyu sneered, “People don’t seek small profits unless they have big plans. Think it through. What an illegitimate child can bring you is limited. I’m willing to compensate you now. Know when to quit playing games.”
Shen Dai also smiled a bit. He wasn’t surprised at all by Qu Moyu’s words. When he shattered the layers of halos surrounding Qu Moyu with his own flesh and blood, what he saw was a power machine without human warmth. In this S-class alpha’s world, all human affairs were for profit. It was as if a person doing something not for profit was a motive that Qu Moyu couldn’t understand.
How could there be such a pathetic person?
Shen Dai looked at Qu Moyu calmly: “I don’t want anything. This child will never have anything to do with you. I won’t take a penny from you. You have a legal department. You can afford the best lawyers. You should know he poses no threat to you or your future legitimate children. What else are you worried about?”
Qu Moyu’s pupils constricted, staring intently at Shen Dai’s eyes. He wanted to read some emotions that could help him analyse him if he was lying. But he could see nothing. Every word Shen Dai said was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.
He didn’t believe it. How could this omega who gave birth to his child want nothing? He waited for Shen Dai to open his mouth and ask him for a long string of numbers. He would agree, considering it compensation for removing the ‘mark’ and having the child. Then, he would bring the child back with him and he would take care of them both for life. Even though Shen Dai had been with another alpha and even let his son be tainted with another alpha’s pheromones, he would still snatch them back.
Shen Dai looked at the time: “Mr. Qu, it’s late. You…-“
“-Shen Dai,” Qu Moyu emphasised, “Stop putting on an act with me.”
Shen Dai shook his head: “What will it take for you to feel at ease? I can sign a confidentiality agreement with you. If I go back on my word and cause damage to your reputation or property, I’ll pay whatever amount of compensation you set.”
Qu Moyu stared at Shen Dai in a daze. He couldn’t believe, or rather couldn’t accept, that Shen Dai truly didn’t want anything from him. He really had no demands of him. For an omega to risk giving birth to his child like this, they must be after money or status, at least one of these. Otherwise, what was the point?
Unless, it was because of Bai Xiangwan.
Qu Moyu, driven by jealousy, felt his blood boiling. He said through gritted teeth: “Is it because of Bai Xiangwan? You want to stay here, just for him? How could he want an omega who’s been divorced and had their ‘mark’ removed? Or does he just like raising other people’s children?”
Shen Dai’s lips trembled. Faced with Qu Moyu’s repeated humiliation, he had no strength to resist. He was only able to use coldness as his final armour. He said softly: “It’s none of your business. Get out.”
“My son is sleeping in that room. You’re my omega. How is it none of my business?”
“I am not your omega!” Shen Dai growled, “Qiu Qiu is only my son. We will never have anything to do with you again in this lifetime!”
Qu Moyu’s expression changed repeatedly. It was filled with gloom. The suffocation in his heart made him extremely uncomfortable.
Shen Dai stood up. With his voice trembling, he said; “You’re right, Bai Xiangwan wouldn’t want an omega who’s been divorced and had their ‘mark’ removed. We’re not that kind of relationship. You don’t need to deliberately make things difficult for him. Now you should leave.”
“The whole room is full of his pheromones, including your bedroom, including on my son. You think I’d believe that?”
“Believe it or not, just get out.”
Qu Moyu then said, enunciating each word: “Shen Dai, don’t regret this.”
Shen Dai walked over and opened the door. His eyes looking at Qu Moyu held only resentment and hostility.
His crushed self-esteem left Qu Moyu unable to find a reason not to leave. He had never been treated like this before. Even though he had repeatedly lowered his standards for this person and even made promises to him, how could he be so ungrateful? How dare anyone treat him like this!
Qu Moyu strode towards the door. But as he passed by Shen Dai, he caught a whiff of that long-missed floral scent and his body could no longer move.
That day he had been so focused on confirming whether Shen Dai had been ‘marked’ by someone else, he hadn’t properly savoured that scent that kept him awake at night. Throughout the year, despite repeated suppression, he still couldn’t control his longing for that night-blooming epiphyllum fragrance. Whenever he thought of that rich and alluring scent that intensified during heat, memories of his time with Shen Dai would float through his mind.
He thought these feelings would pass, that it was just physiological desire transformed into mating impulses. He didn’t allow himself to indulge in such basic needs.
But after a year, he still couldn’t get over it.
Qu Moyu grabbed the door and slammed it shut with a ‘bang’. Before Shen Dai could react, Qu Moyu had already pinned him against the wall. A rough kiss fell, forcefully sealing his lips, fiercely grinding and sucking.
The moment he truly touched him, Qu Moyu realised he missed this scent even more than he had imagined. All his impulses exploded. While brutally plundering the air from Shen Dai’s mouth, Qu Moyu tore open the loose pyjamas.
“No…-” Shen Dai couldn’t even utter a complete cry for help before Qu Moyu’s kiss left him breathless. His oxygen-deprived brain spun in a daze. When he came to his senses, he had already been pinned down on the sofa.
Qu Moyu’s large hands explored that smooth skin inch by inch. He was excited by the familiar touch. Yet his heart felt restless at the obvious weight loss of the person beneath him.
“Let go of me!” Shen Dai’s face alternated between being flushed and pale. His eyes were full of terror and shame. What right did Qu Moyu have to treat him like this? To hurt him again and again?!
Qu Moyu’s knees forced Shen Dai’s legs to spread. His mind was clouded by jealousy as he ranted uncontrollably: “You said you liked me. Then you went ahead and be with another alpha while carrying my child. Will you one day make my son call him father?!”
“Qu Moyu!” Shen Dai cried out, “You bastard! I don’t like you, I completely hate you!”
Qu Moyu’s eyes were bloodshot. The frenzied alpha pheromones inside him were almost uncontrollable. He just wanted to devour the person beneath him. A voice in his mind screamed: violate, attack, conquer, possess this person completely. Only by treating his prey this way could he soothe his unease. He stripped off Shen Dai’s clothes, forcing this omega who had made him experience unspeakable pain to sacrifice himself to him-.
-That is until Qu Moyu saw the scar on Shen Dai’s abdomen – the scar left by the caesarean section.
Shen Dai’s lower abdomen was once like a flawless thin fair wall. It was a slender waist he could encircle with one arm. It hadn’t fully regained its elasticity three months after giving birth. That faintly pink, slightly raised scar was glaringly obvious.
Qu Moyu’s heart took a heavy blow. He stopped all his actions.
Shen Dai curled up his naked body, hugging himself tightly. He was shaking violently, wishing he could disappear right then and there.
Looking at Shen Dai like this, Qu Moyu suddenly didn’t know what he had done. He stiffly took off his suit jacket and carefully covered Shen Dai’s naked body with it.
At this moment, the cry of a baby broke through the barrier they had created together, reaching their eardrums. It also pulled Shen Dai back to reality from his self-protective cave.
Wrapped in Qu Moyu’s clothes, Shen Dai shakily got up and stumbled into the bedroom.
Qiu Qiu had been crying for who knows how long, his little face was already red. Shen Dai’s hands and feet were trembling. He managed to pick Qiu Qiu up. He sat down on the edge of the bed in the process, gently comforting him.
Qu Moyu walked in. Shen Dai’s body looked even thinner wrapped in his suit jacket. That constantly trembling back made his heart clench. He was about to say something when Qiu Qiu’s cry suddenly intensified, becoming even more shrill.
Shen Dai turned his head. His pupils were gloomy: “Get out. He’s afraid of you.”
The hatred in Shen Dai’s eyes and the tear stains on his face made Qu Moyu’s spine go cold. In any difficulty he had encountered in his life, the excitement of the challenge always outweighed the anxiety. Only this time was different. He didn’t dare face Shen Dai’s accusing gaze. He was at a loss.
In the end, he fled in disarray.

*Translator’s Note: It was so satisfying to read this chapter. Mr. Cuttlefish, Sundae is not your omega. Did you forget that you have divorced him and forced him to wash off the ‘mark’? Is there something wrong with your head?? -K
