Xiao Die vaguely felt that the voice sounded familiar. But she couldn’t recall whose it was. However, the anger in the tone was unmistakable, making her immediately sense danger. She didn’t intend to open the door and instead quietly walked to the door, looking outside through the peephole.
The convex mirror distorted the figure outside. But the anger on the handsome face was clear and unmistakable. When Xiao Die saw who it was, her hair stood on end. She never imagined she would one day be ‘confronting’ the big boss of the company through a door.
Qu Moyu had already sensed someone behind the door. Without any pheromones, it was most likely a beta. He stared coldly at the small peephole and said again, “Open the door.”
Panicking, Xiao Die looked around. From this position, she couldn’t see the guest bedroom and couldn’t immediately seek advice from the person in charge of the house, Bai Xiangwan. Xiao Die had combined a lot of gossip and her own imagination about the entanglements between Qu Moyu and Shen Dai. Bai Xiangwan never let her ask about Shen Dai, so she never did. But no matter what, a child had been born. So their relationship was definitely not ordinary.
So, this door absolutely couldn’t be opened. Alphas are such competitive and aggressive beings, especially since Qu Moyu was their boss. Once he entered the house, whether it turned into a shouting match or even a physical fight, the consequences would be unimaginable. But outside the door was the S-class alpha, and this ordinary civilian-grade security door couldn’t withstand the destructive power of an S-class alpha… Qu Moyu’s patience was visibly wearing thin. He clenched his fists, suppressing his anger. He said coldly, “Please open the door. I am here to take Shen Dai with me.”
He paused, his words clearly a threat, “This is the last time I’m asking.”
Xiao Die was on the verge of tears. At that moment, Bai Xiangwan came out. His face was pale, his eyes bloodshot, and his hair slightly dishevelled. His deep eyes stared unblinkingly at the door. He said softly, “Open the door.”
“Professor…”
“It’s okay. Keep an eye on Qiu Qiu.”
Xiao Die bit her lip and opened the door. Being small in stature, she had to look up fearfully at Qu Moyu, who was as tall as a wall. Instinctively, she shrank into a small shadow, “Mr.- Mr. Qu.”
Qu Moyu bypassed her and strode into the house. The thick scent of estrus pheromones immediately assaulted his senses. He was stunned, not expecting to encounter a situation worse than seeing Bai Xiangwan standing in front of him with Shen Dai.
Shen Dai was in heat?!
That day when Shen Dai said he wanted to take Qiu Qiu home for grandma’s birthday, Qu Moyu knew Shen Dai was lying. When he arranged for Assistant Cheng to transfer the grandmother to another hospital years ago, he glanced at her medical records without looking closely. But his memory was too good. He distinctly remembered her birthday was in the latter half of the year. He didn’t expose the lie. He allowed Shen Dai to go home for some fresh air. When he found out Shen Dai hadn’t gone home but had taken Qiu Qiu to Cheng Zimei’s house, he didn’t expose that either. But he had a nagging suspicion that left him uneasy.
Sure enough, last night, the person he sent to keep an eye on Shen Dai informed him that Bai Xiangwan took a student to Cheng Zimei’s house. Despite his explicit warning, Shen Dai still took Qiu Qiu to meet Bai Xiangwan privately and even lied to him about it. He was furious at the time but held back, knowing that it wasn’t just the two of them meeting alone. He couldn’t just show up like a jealous husband and cause a scene.
But just now, he learned that Bai Xiangwan had come here again, alone.
All sorts of unsavoury speculations tore at his emotions. He had rushed over, leaving an important dinner meeting. He had used up all his self-control to suppress his raging pheromones, reminding himself to stay as rational as possible no matter what he saw.
However, upon entering the house, an unexpected situation arose. Shen Dai was in heat. He even brought Qiu Qiu here to avoid being near him during this period?!
Shen Dai was in heat and Bai Xiangwan was present. This thought echoed in his mind like a drill, piercing his brain. Fortunately, he hadn’t lost his ability to think. He and Bai Xiangwan had entered the building just minutes apart. Bai Xiangwan’s clothes were intact, his mind clear, and there was another person in the house. So, nothing unbearable had happened.
The entire house was filled with the scent of night-blooming epiphyllum pheromones, making the blood of the two alphas boil. They glared at each other. The ground beneath them seemed to be covered in tar, ready to ignite at the slightest spark… As a beta, Xiao Die already sensed something was wrong. Then, the sensitive Qiu Qiu started crying in fear. But the attention of the two alphas was entirely on this bloodless ‘battle’, focusing on each other’s every move, completely ignoring the external sounds.
Qu Moyu’s societal status forcibly kept his rationality in check. He swallowed back the word ‘get lost’ and instead said, “Professor Bai, leave this place.”
The words were not offensive. But the tone was absolutely commanding and threatening. Bai Xiangwan could feel Qu Moyu’s pheromones stirring aggressively towards him. He knew what he was facing—an enraged beast that posed a significant threat to his personal safety. He was a giant in the industry that could greatly impact his career and future.
But to retreat now and disregard Shen Dai’s well-being went against his principles. He said in a deep voice, “Mr. Qu, I think we should both leave.”
Qu Moyu’s gaze grew even darker. “Do you know what you’re saying?”
“Shen Dai is here because he doesn’t want you near him during his heat. Please respect his wishes.”
“Then why are you here?” Qu Moyu roared.
“I’m here because I’m afraid something might happen to him…-“
Qu Moyu’s thoughts were fixated on Shen Dai. He didn’t want to waste another half-second talking to Bai Xiangwan. He strode towards the guest bedroom.
Bai Xiangwan stepped forward, trying to stop Qu Moyu. Qu Moyu glared fiercely at Bai Xiangwan. His powerful alpha pheromones formed a massive pressure that forced Bai Xiangwan to stumble back three steps. His heart seemed to stop for a moment and his face drained of colour. The sudden force was so controlled that it disappeared instantly. But Bai Xiangwan hadn’t yet recovered from the lingering fear, trembling uncontrollably.
Qu Moyu had already reduced the range of his pheromone pressure to a close proximity. But the energy was still too strong. Qiu Qiu was affected, his crying turning into ear-piercing screams.
Qu Moyu’s face was extremely grim. He looked at Xiao Die and said hoarsely, “Take the child out.”
Xiao Die, huddled in a corner, quickly ran over, pushing Qiu Qiu’s stroller and swiftly left the room.
Following the scent of night-blooming epiphyllum, Qu Moyu opened the guest bedroom door. Shen Dai lay half-naked on the bed. He was weak and limp. His thin back was like a snow-white canvas, with the clear lines of his bones outlining a seductive landscape, evoking endless imagination. The strong floral scent filled the room, making Qu Moyu’s blood surge and his pheromones roil wildly within him.
On the other hand, Shen Dai’s breathing was relatively stable. It was as if the restlessness during his heat had been soothed. The air faintly carried a different scent…
Qu Moyu suddenly had a bad feeling. He anxiously moved closer and found a bit of dried blood on the back of Shen Dai’s neck. A faint scent of white elm pheromones emanated from him.
At that moment, his will, which had been stretched to the limit, exploded. Qu Moyu experienced the agony of heart-wrenching pain. He felt as if he were the one being suppressed by pheromones, unable to think, move, or breathe. It was as if someone had ripped open his chest with a sharp knife and painted his world with his own fresh blood.
The pain drove him mad.
Light footsteps came from behind him. Qu Moyu turned around like a beast. In a flash, he grabbed Bai Xiangwan by the collar, twisting it around his neck.
Bai Xiangwan grasped Qu Moyu’s wrists, his pale face turning red from suffocation.
“You dared to mark him,” Qu Moyu snarled, baring his teeth, “You dared to ‘mark’ my omega!”
Bai Xiangwan rasped, “It’s… a temporary… ‘mark’.”
Qu Moyu knew it was a temporary ‘mark’. But he couldn’t tolerate it: “He is my omega! He is mine!”
This was the moment in his life he most wanted to unleash his pheromones. He wanted to break the intruder’s neck. If Shen Dai weren’t right beside him, no rational barrier could restrain his pheromones once jealousy overwhelmed him.
“Really?” Bai Xiangwan gave a mocking smile. His eyes looked fierce and angry, “Is he… your… omega? Did you ‘mark’… him…”
Qu Moyu’s hands tightened, watching Bai Xiangwan’s eyes fill with blood. Yet he didn’t stop. He was even savouring this twisted sense of revenge.
“You… did ‘mark’ him, then forced him… to wash it away…” Qu Moyu froze. Bai Xiangwan seized this moment of slack and suddenly released his pheromones, pushing Qu Moyu with a strong force against the wall on the opposite side of the corridor.
Bai Xiangwan leaned against the wall, coughing violently.
Their struggle roused Shen Dai from his semi-conscious state. He opened his heavy eyelids and saw the two alphas standing against the narrow hallway walls outside the open door. The violent pheromones filling the air made him feel terrified.
His foggy brain couldn’t process the scene before him. He only felt fear.
Qu Moyu’s aura seemed like a flame dampened by a handful of sand, suddenly weakening. Before he could speak, Bai Xiangwan said with cutting precision, “I temporarily ‘marked’ him to ease his pain. What about you? You ‘marked’ him in a fit of lust, then regretted it when you sobered up, forcing him to wash it away. Did you also force him to abort Qiu Qiu? Otherwise, why would he avoid you and flee to Lancheng?”
Qu Moyu opened his mouth to speak. But his lips trembled and he couldn’t say anything.
“Where were you during the hardest times of his life, when he was pregnant and having the baby? When he vomited everything he ate and lost eight pounds in a month, where were you? When he had to stand in line alone for three or four hours for prenatal checkups, his feet were so swollen they hurt to walk, where were you? After giving birth to Qiu Qiu and lying in the hospital for half a month with only a caregiver to look after him, where were you when he couldn’t get a full night’s sleep from taking care of the baby day and night? Where the hell were you then!” Bai Xiangwan felt a deep blockage in his chest. He was usually calm and composed. But now, he only wanted to vent his contempt for the person in front of him, “And now you show up, shamelessly trying to take the child and claiming he’s your omega. He has washed away your ‘mark’. He is not your omega anymore!”
“Shut up!” Qu Moyu roared. He was enraged and humiliated. He grabbed Bai Xiangwan by the collar again.
Shen Dai weakly called out. But neither of the furious men heard him.
Qu Moyu half-dragged, half-shoved Bai Xiangwan out the front door. He slammed it shut behind him.
“Qu Moyu!” Bai Xiangwan pounded on the door. “What are you doing? Don’t hurt him anymore!”
“I won’t hurt him!” Qu Moyu’s voice was a desperate wail, growing weaker, “He’s my omega, I won’t hurt him…”
“Open the door! Qu Moyu!”
Qu Moyu returned to the bedroom and shut the door. He looked at Shen Dai. The brief silence was like the dense clouds before a storm. The dim light cast a soft, glistening sheen over Shen Dai’s clean skin. His moist eyes looked at Qu Moyu, nostrils flaring, lips parting weakly as he asked, “What did you do to Senior Brother Bai?”
“Don’t mention him.” Qu Moyu pressed one knee onto the mattress, tearing off his tie and shirt. He gazed down at the submissive beauty before him. His desire was rising and fermenting. Yet Bai Xiangwan’s words still echoed in his ears. The stabbing pain in his heart relentlessly tormented him. His omega was suffering and all the evidence pointed to himself as the culprit.
Under the dual comfort of inhibitors and a temporary ‘mark’, Shen Dai’s heat had lessened significantly—provided there was no further stimulation. Qu Moyu was precisely that stimulus. How could he resist such powerful alpha pheromones?
Sensing what Qu Moyu intended to do, Shen Dai trembled and backed away. “No, Qu Moyu… please don’t…”
Qu Moyu leaned down, gripping Shen Dai’s jaw and kissed him fiercely, passionately, as if to erase all his refusals. At the same time, he swiftly tore off Shen Dai’s remaining clothes.
“No… Qu Moyu…”
“Shh…” Qu Moyu whispered as he kissed Shen Dai, gently soothing him, “Don’t be afraid, Ah Dai. Don’t be afraid. You’re my omega. I’ll help you through this heat and I’ll always be with you from now on.”
His senses were sharp, filled with the scent of the white elm tainting the floral fragrance. Jealousy corroded every nerve, tearing him apart. He couldn’t recall a moment of greater pain and despair. His heart was shattered. Yet it still sought Shen Dai desperately.
There was no other way. He never believed emotions could torment a person this much until Shen Dai entered his life. He didn’t know how to measure affection, or love, but he knew he couldn’t lose Shen Dai.
The only way to save himself was to reclaim his omega. He would ‘mark’ Shen Dai, truly, permanently, unwaveringly.

Mustered with all his strength, Shen Dai struggled, “No! Let go of me!”
“Don’t be afraid. Ah Dai, let me ‘mark’ you,” Qu Moyu’s canines hovered over Shen Dai’s nape, his tone solemn and affectionate. It was as if he was pledging his life, “I’ll give you my ‘mark’. You will become my only omega for life.”
“No—” Shen Dai screamed in terror, turning his head to look at Qu Moyu with eyes filled with fear and determination. Tears welled up in his eyes as he gritted his teeth, “If you dare to ‘mark’ me again, I’ll remove my gland!”

*Translator’s note: QMY much needed this lesson:
Bai Xiangwan: Now that you have appeared, you are still brazenly trying to rob his child and you dare to say that he is your omega when he has already washed off your ‘mark’. He is not your omega!
Me: Thank you, Senior Brother Bai. Exactly what we all wanna say to him. Take that! -K
