Chapter 3: The Senior Brothers with Exquisite Looks
In front of the mirror, Guangshen looked displeasedly towards the entrance where a cheerful young man stood.
The young man had neatly combed black hair, with a subtle coffee-colored sheen. His clean face boasted gentle features, large eyes with deep double eyelids, and long lashes delicately enhancing his eyelids, adding a touch of grace and liveliness to his eyes.
Unlike Guangshen’s sharp nose and deep-set eyes, he was the epitome of a dashing Chinese gentleman. His well-defined nose exhibited the elegant beauty reminiscent of a young man from the southern regions of Huaxia, while his smiling red lips radiated an extra dose of sunshine.
Dressed in a crisp white casual shirt paired with a casually worn black necktie, he exuded an effortless charm. The seemingly haphazardly tied tie added a dash of handsomeness to his appearance. The white casual belt, along with the casually styled gray pinstripe trousers, gave off a youthful and fresh vibe that was impossible to ignore.
“Hmph! Feng Lingcan, did you really come to the wrong place?” Guangshen released his grip on me and placed a hand beside me, treating me as if I were still his prey, not allowing me to leave his vicinity.
The boy named Feng Lingcan smiled and said, “Guang, Hongri is looking for you. It’s not a good idea to behave like this.” He approached me and reached out to hold my arm, but before he could, “snap!” Guangshen suddenly grabbed my other arm and swiftly leaned close to my ear, whispering, “Tell me your number, and I’ll let you go.”
I turned my head to him in bewilderment and exclaimed, “Are you out of your mind? Are you trying to be a vampire or just being plain eccentric? If you’re so immersed in your role, shouldn’t you seek some help?” I hadn’t reached the point of believing that two boys were fighting over me in broad daylight in the restroom. It was clear that Guangshen was the one with issues, while Feng Lingcan, this guy, came to my rescue.
Feng Lingcan burst into laughter beside me.
A flash of murderous intent flickered in Guangshen’s azure eyes as he glared fiercely at my face.
“Do you want me to call Hongri?” Feng Lingcan said calmly. Guangshen’s lips curled into a cold smile. He released his grip on my hand, striding past me as if he were a gust of wind, and coldly seized the collar of Feng Lingcan’s shirt. “Remember this! You’re nothing but mediocre. Stay out of my affairs!” After his words, he pushed Feng Lingcan away without looking back, and swiftly exited the restroom.
Only then did Feng Lingcan let go of my hand and looked at me kindly. “You’re a newcomer, right? Be careful.”
I gazed at him with confusion and inquired, “You’re not the first person who has warned me to be careful. What kind of university is this? Why does everyone keep telling me to be cautious?”
To my surprise, he looked at me with an expression of greater astonishment than mine. “You don’t even know which college you’re attending?”
I shook my head, and he regarded me curiously. “I’ve never seen someone like you before.” He glanced outside and suggested, “In that case, follow me and refrain from talking to anyone.”
“Okay, okay, okay!” I nodded eagerly. After a moment of contemplation, I retrieved the jewelry box my father had given me and opened it. The crystal pendant inside shimmered with iridescent hues under the light
“What’s that?” he asked, his smile returning as he looked at me kindly.
Immediately, my guard went up. Everyone here seemed so strange; being saved didn’t necessarily mean they were good people.
“It’s a protective charm,” I replied casually, closing the jewelry box. In the light, the octagonal pattern on the box gleamed with a silver hue.
He chuckled and turned away, and I quickly followed him. As we stepped out of the room, I couldn’t help but glance back to confirm once more—it was indeed the women’s restroom! How were these guys so calm about going in and out of the wrong restroom?
I definitely had to be cautious around this Feng Lingcan.
As we walked out, I noticed the sportswear-clad girl who had warned me earlier approaching us. She seemed like an older sister type, but her reserved nature made it hard to tell.
Seeing us, she walked over and looked at Feng Lingcan, concern evident in her eyes. “Is everything alright?” Her gaze toward him displayed a deep trust.
Feng Lingcan smiled wryly and glanced at her. “Baiying, next time you want to help, could you be a bit more daring? We were in the women’s restroom, after all.” He crossed his arms, stealing a brief look at the women’s restroom.
So, the girl’s name was Baiying, and she had wanted to rescue me.
Baiying lowered her head silently. “You know, getting involved with Guangshen’s matters isn’t easy. Ah Feng, consider this a personal debt I owe you.” She raised her face and looked at Feng Lingcan earnestly.
Feng Lingcan responded with a faint smile and a nod.
Baiying then turned her attention to me, her expression serious. “Which family do you belong to?”
“Family?” I was puzzled.
She hesitated for a moment before asking, “Yanhuang? Huaxia? Or the Five Elements family?”
I stared at her, equally puzzled. “I… I’m Chinese, so I suppose I should be a descendant of Yanhuang.”
Feng Lingcan burst into laughter beside me, clutching his stomach with one hand.
Baiying’s face darkened. “Feng Lingcan, be serious!” Then she focused on me again. “You have to be careful around Guangshen, especially since you’re human. He’s a descendant of the Dracula and Drought families…”
“Enough,” Feng Lingcan abruptly interrupted Baiying. “She doesn’t know anything, not even which school she’s attending.”
“What?!” Baiying looked at me with even greater astonishment, her expression frozen as if she found it incredibly unbelievable. It was as if someone had told me that vampires were attending our school—a completely nonsensical idea.
I remained dazed, staring at her for a while. Dracula, Drought families… What in the world were these descendant things she was talking about?
After the conversation with Feng Lingcan and Baiying, the mystery in my heart deepened.
Baiying was a quiet girl who had the appearance of an older sister, but she rarely engaged in conversation with those around her. She would often keep her head down, absorbed in her phone. However, despite her reserved nature, many people seemed to gather around her. It was peculiar, giving off an odd sensation, as if they were currying favor with a wealthy heiress.
Sitting beside Feng Lingcan, I observed the people around me and felt completely out of place.
Perhaps due to Feng Lingcan’s presence beside me, even though he hadn’t looked at me since he escorted me out, engrossed in his phone instead, many people still cast glances in my direction.
“That girl seems like a new student,” some girls began whispering.
“But she seems a bit older for a new student.”
“Hehe, do you not allow others to appear mature?”
Hey, hey, hey, could you please lower your voices when gossiping? Or better yet, there’s something called a group chat on your phones!
“Based on her appearance, she should be taking the college entrance exam just like us. I wonder what score she got.”
So annoying! Are college entrance exam scores really that important?
“Why are you asking about her score? Is the college entrance exam still relevant to us?”
“That’s something people like you, who didn’t perform well on the exam, would say. I’ve been admitted to Peking University!”
“If you got into Peking University, then why aren’t you attending? In our eyes, even if you got into Harvard, it wouldn’t matter. Here, subjects for mortals are irrelevant.”
Subjects for mortals!
Oh my goodness! These people truly think of themselves as gods!
“Ladies and gentlemen, please prepare for boarding,” finally, the announcement for boarding came over the speakers.
Phew, we’re finally boarding. My ears can finally have some peace. These people don’t see me as a new student at all; they’re practically gawking at me as if I were an alien!
“Is that all the luggage you have?” Feng Lingcan curiously looked at my small backpack.
I adjusted my backpack on my shoulders. “Yeah, I figure since this school is so strange, I won’t be staying for long.”
“That’s not necessarily true,” Feng Lingcan smiled mysteriously at me. In his clear eyes, there was suddenly a profound feeling.
As I gazed at his smile, my heart grew even more uneasy. I suddenly remembered the words my father had told me before leaving. Perhaps this time, I truly won’t be staying for long.
The plane slowly ascended from the ground, equipped with advanced features like in-flight WiFi. In this modern era where smartphones reign supreme, seeing these students absorbed in their phones, just like any normal person, made me feel a bit more at ease and adjusted. However, for some inexplicable reason, while everyone else seemed to have a signal, my phone remained completely disconnected. Wasn’t there supposed to be WiFi? Could it be that my phone was too weak?
Not being able to connect to the internet was becoming increasingly frustrating.
And could the person in front of me please control their large white snake?
The white snake had emerged from the seat and was fixated on the beef jerky in my hand, extending its tongue towards it.
“Hiss, hiss.” It blinked its eyes, and despite its snowy white appearance, it seemed less menacing and even somewhat cute. I don’t know why, whether it’s because I lack a fear response or simply because I have a bold disposition, but I’ve never been afraid of anything in my life.
I stared back at the snake, and it stared back at the beef jerky in my hand. Well, I decided to slowly place the beef jerky in front of it. It took a quick glance before swiftly biting the treat and disappearing behind the seat!
What kind of academy is this?
Perhaps it’s a circus academy!
“Heh, don’t worry. The animals here won’t harm you. Just be cautious around people,” Feng Lingcan reassured me with a smile, then got up and walked towards Baiying.
I blinked my eyes. Did his reassurance actually put me at ease? What does he mean by “animals are not scary, be cautious around people”?
Suddenly, I had a feeling that someone was staring at me. I turned my head stiffly and across the aisle was the zombie!
He opened his mouth, revealing a set of blackened teeth!
“Gulp.” I nervously swallowed and quickly turned my face towards the window, taking a deep breath and attempting to think positively. Performing in a circus is definitely better than operating an excavator, right? Heh heh.
Unexpectedly, a streak of red flashed past the wing!
What on earth was that?
A bird? It seemed larger than a bird.
I pressed myself against the window, and then, beneath the wing, a boy gradually materialized!
What in the world is happening?
There’s someone outside the plane, ahhh!
Oh my ****!
“Holy ****! Holy ****! Holy ****!” I jumped up in fear, and everyone turned to look at me. Feng Lingcan and Baiying also directed their gaze towards me, with a slight crease in Feng Lingcan’s forehead, as if my expletives were unpleasant to his ears.
I pointed outside the window. “Did any of you see that? There, there’s a boy outside the plane!”
Inside the cabin, a heavy silence filled the air. Everyone gave me a nonchalant glance, as if I were making a big fuss, before returning their attention to their phones.
