After a burst of chaos with chickens flying and dogs jumping1chaotic and tumultuous scene, the once dignified and neat Dragon Palace had now turned into a scene of disaster.
The way the dragons could think of to coax the young lord was to bring out all their cherished treasures and give them to it. Surprisingly, the dragons’ preferences were remarkably consistent, mostly for gems and gold. Soon, the golden throne was piled high with sparkling things.
The wailing and crying little dragon cub was instantly engulfed amidst the glittering treasures it had fallen in love with inside the eggshells.
Taking advantage of the moment when it took a breath between its howls, it squinted its eyes and finally slowly opened its eyelids, then closed its mouth.
However, its round and watery eyes were still moist, and two teardrops hung precariously in its eye sockets.
It looked like it had been somewhat appeased, but not entirely.
The teardrops that were about to fall from the eyes of the little dragon cub held back all the dragons.
The dragons that had just flown into the palace in a frenzy from their nests also quickly stabilized their bodies, hovering in mid-air, nervously watching the little dragon cub on the throne.
The dragons’ bodies appeared small-headed with round bellies, and when suspended in the air, they looked like a bunch of chubby gourds hanging up, quite comical.
The dragons on the ground were just as unyielding in their comical appearance. When they got nervous, they would unconsciously spread their wings, fearing they might make a loud noise and startle the two tears at the corners of the little dragon cub’s eyes.
They stood on their tiptoes, not daring to move.
Although they were willing to do anything for the young lord, when it came to coaxing the young lord, they truly didn’t know where to start.
All the dragons had one thought: they absolutely couldn’t let the young lord cry again!
When the silhouette of the upright giant beast seen inside the eggshell appeared vividly in Jing Nian’s eyes, Jing Nian finally became certain.
These dragons were truly a bunch of idiots.
The little dragon cub, who received Jing Nian’s consciousness, held a bunch of sparkling treasures and popped out two baby dragon sounds in confusion: “Idiots?”
Jing Nian: “…”
Upon hearing the words of the little dragon cub, the dragons in the hall below exchanged frenzied glances and began discussing in the link of consciousness.
Dragon One puzzled: What’s an “idiot”?
Dragon Two bewildered: Don’t know, never heard of it.
Dragon Three guessed: A statue made of sand?
Dragon Four excitedly: I’m good at this!
Just as the excited voice emerged, a young earth dragon named He Kun pushed his way past the other dragons in front of the Dragon Gate, approached the throne, and quickly snapped his fingers.
The power of earth elements slowly condensed into sand, gradually forming a real sand sculpture in front of the little dragon cub.
And the sand sculpture looked exactly like a mini He Kun.
The other dragons: “… Shameless.”
Yet, they all still turned their heads simultaneously, eagerly watching to see if the little dragon cub had been appeased.
After finishing, the earth dragon He Kun proudly puffed out his chest toward the other dragons, then also “affectionately” looked at the little dragon cub.
As the sand began to gather into a statue, the little dragon cub’s gaze was captivated.
It wasn’t until the dragon sand sculpture was fully formed that it glanced at the expectant He Kun with a puzzled expression, then extended its little claw.
And with a gentle touch, it happened.
The sand sculpture dragon instantly shattered into a pile of sand.
After the sand sculpture dragon turned into a heap of sand, the little dragon cub lost interest momentarily. It disdainfully pinched its small claw, shaking off the sand it touched, and hugged the sparkling treasures in its arms once more.
Seeing the mini sand sculpture dragon, Jing Nian couldn’t help but feel amused and exasperated. He couldn’t resist placing his hand on his forehead, muttering to himself, “These silly dragons.”
Little did he know, one careless remark was overheard by the little dragon cub, and it imitated him.
“Silly dragons!”
With a childish voice, the young lord sat on the throne, innocently widening his eyes and tilting his head to look at everyone.
The dragons were stunned!
They had managed to make the young lord think they were silly. This was a disaster!
Suddenly, all the dragons turned their condemning gazes toward the earth dragon He Kun, who had caused this outcome, and began discussing frantically.
No, they had to erase the young lord’s impression of them!
One dragon suddenly remembered: Could it be the Desert Sculptors?
The dragons all nodded in agreement: Regardless of whether it is or not, let’s capture them first and then figure it out!
Thus, the fastest flying dragons disappeared from the palace and rapidly headed toward the Northern Desert, which was halfway across the continent from the Lost Forest.
Because within the entire continent, only the Northern Desert was home to a group of Desert Sculptors.
—
After discovering that the little dragon cub enjoyed mimicking his speech, Jing Nian quickly restrained himself, avoiding any strange thoughts, fearing he might teach the young cub something inappropriate.
Fortunately, after this diversion, the tears in the little dragon cub’s eyes finally dried up. It paid no mind to the dragons around, but instead happily lowered its head, clutching a pile of gold and gemstones like a little treasure hoarder.
After cuddling the treasures for a while, it pouted its small bottom, propped its claws on the pile of precious items, and struggled to stand up.
The adult dragons had a top-heavy structure, with a larger upper body compared to their lower body. Whether it was the ratio of their head to belly or the proportion of their limbs, it was all the same. Their forelimbs were more agile and had small hands, while their hind limbs were strong and sturdy. When they walked, they dragged a majestic and imposing large tail.
However, the current size of the little dragon cub was more like that of a large-brained kitten or puppy, but unlike the fluffy plumpness of domesticated ones.
The little dragon cub had thin scales, so its plumpness was real and solid.
The difficulty of standing up was even greater than that of a short-legged kitten walking on two legs.
Not only was its center of gravity unstable, but its baby-fat body also proved to be cumbersome.
Yet, it didn’t show the slightest sign of discouragement. On the contrary, its eyes sparkled with excitement.
Happily, it took small steps with its short legs, coming to the pile of treasures that were many times its size, and began using its still-tender little dragon claws to laboriously move gold bars.
The nearby dragons were immediately tempted to step in to help, but the next moment, they were met with the vigilant gaze of the little dragon cub.
The dragons reluctantly stepped back. Although they didn’t understand why their young lord was struggling to move gold bars with its fragile little claws, they could only squat below, watching with rapt attention.
Seeing the dragons retreat, the little dragon cub once again threw itself into its arduous “task.”
With each quiver of the little dragon cub’s legs, the hearts of the dragons quivered along with them.
Having experienced the young lord’s crying prowess, what the dragons dreaded the most was the possibility of the young lord crying so much that they wouldn’t know what to do.
However, the little dragon cub paid no attention to whether they were watching or not. As long as they didn’t approach, it was fine with it.
It wobbled and staggered as it walked on the massive throne, patiently dividing all the treasures into two piles on either side.
Gold bars: one for the little brother, one for me.
Beautiful gemstones: one for the little brother, one for me.
Elemental crystals: one for the little brother, one for me.
…
After everything was divided, the little dragon cub was so tired that it let out a childlike “sigh” and then plopped down on its bottom.
When Jing Nian realized that the little dragon cub was actually sharing treasures with itself, he felt a bit moved.
Even though he had no intention of coveting the cub’s treasures, he decided not to intervene after some thought.
He felt that he shouldn’t discourage the young cub’s wonderful virtue of sharing, so he smiled and watched it distribute the treasures.
Much later.
The little dragon cub had divided all the treasures into two piles.
Of course, there were instances where it encountered an odd number of the same kind of treasures.
It was fortunate that there was a group of dragons standing by, their hearts in their throats, observing the scene. Just before the odd-numbered treasures were about to cause an imbalance, the little dragon cub frowned. Before it even wrinkled its brow completely, the odd-numbered treasures were swiftly paired up by the dragons nearby.
After distributing the treasures, the little dragon cub sat down contentedly to rest.
Jing Nian, who was sharing the sensations of the little dragon cub, also breathed a sigh of relief. He hadn’t expected the cub to have such strong determination.
However, at this moment, the little dragon cub suddenly looked around at the dragons with big eyes, then pointed at a pile of treasures and happily announced, “Little brother’s, mine.”
Jing Nian didn’t have time to stop it and took a deep breath: “!”
Seeing Jing Nian’s shocked expression, the lead dragon Hesse quickly admonished everyone.
-Quick! Pretend like you didn’t understand anything!
The dragons all shifted their gaze outside the window in unison.
Thus, Jing Nian saw that the dragons didn’t seem to catch the meaning behind the little dragon cub’s words.
In reality, the dragons had already engaged in a lively discussion within the link of consciousness.
Catching sight of Jing Nian’s sigh of relief, and noticing that the little dragon cub was getting a bit tired after distributing everything, Hesse cleared his throat and shooed the crowded dragons out of the palace. Then, he took out the dragon food that had been prepared in advance and placed it in the little dragon cub’s embrace.
Suddenly receiving something, the little dragon cub looked at Hesse with a dazed expression.
With the young dragons gone, Hesse finally allowed himself a hearty grin. Pouting his lips, he demonstrated a sucking motion and pointed to the fruits in the little dragon cub’s arms.
The fruits were a creamy white, exuding a sweet milky fragrance even through the skin. Even Jing Nian could smell it.
Since entering the eggshell, Jing Nian, who hadn’t even taken a sip of nutrient fluid, found himself craving it.
Understanding Hesse’s intention, the little dragon cub lowered its head and took a bite of the fruit. As the sweet milky juice flowed into its mouth, its eyes lit up in an instant.
Delicious!
Jing Nian, sharing the little dragon cub’s sensations, also felt his eyes light up as he tasted the sweet fruit milk.
Hesse, who had been secretly observing everything, squinted his eyes and smiled even more satisfactorily, thinking to himself: Since both young lords enjoy the taste of Life Fruits, I can pick a few more from the Elven realm.
As for whether the Elven Life Fruit tree bore fruit every hundred years, or whether it was precious or not, the dragons didn’t know. In any case, it wasn’t as precious as their young lords.
After consuming a Life Fruit with just a bit of skin left, the recently hatched dragon cub burped contentedly. Its chubby form remained seated on the spot, and its little head began nodding off, its eyes slowly closing.
Once its eyes were completely shut.
A soft thud sounded.
The remaining bit of the Life Fruit fell from the dragon cub’s embrace.
Witnessing this, Hesse quickly placed a soft cushion in the direction where the dragon cub was tipping over. Carefully, he used his pointed nails to tenderly place the dragon cub into the soft and warm cushion, then covered it with a small blanket.
After completing everything, the dragon Hesse, unusually, broke out into a cold sweat.
Watching over the sleeping dragon cub for a while, Hesse noticed that Jing Nian was also becoming drowsy. However, due to his vigilance over the dragon cub, he forced himself to stay awake. Hesse quietly left the dragon palace.
Once the dragon palace was completely quiet, Jing Nian refreshed himself. He had been feeling a bit tired due to the dragon cub’s sensations affecting him.
Now that the dragon cub was sound asleep, he attempted to activate the voice communication system.
He immediately received a response.
[Mr. [Jin Nian], do you need assistance from Little A?]
However, Jing Nian’s intention was not to interact with it. After awakening the voice communication system, he didn’t respond to it, as he was afraid of waking the dragon cub.
He silently gazed at the displayed player interface, quest panel, inventory, and other functions that appeared simultaneously.
He hadn’t expected even the shop to be displayed; that was a pleasant surprise.
Jing Nian breathed a sigh of relief, skillfully navigating through all the displayed functions. By examining the shop, he could deduce the settings and some gameplay of this holographic game.
After confirming that the quest panel was in order, Jing Nian decided to leverage his strengths and focus on leveling up. After all, when the game officially launched later, if he wanted to have someone contact his family for help, having at least a “big shot” speak was much more credible than a “small fry.”
With this in mind, Jing Nian attempted to sense the slumbering dragon soul of the little dragon cub beside him and cautiously tried to push aside the control of the dragon cub’s body.
The process went incredibly smoothly; with a quick “biu,” he took control of the body.
Jing Nian blinked, gingerly adapting to the dragon cub’s body. As he prepared to climb out of the cushioned nest, he found that due to the little dragon’s plump belly, as he raised a short leg, his body tumbled off the edge of the nest.
Landing on his ample behind, the cushion of flesh absorbed the impact, making it more surprising than painful. However, he felt a bit dazed from the fall. Jing Nian was momentarily stupefied before he quickly braced himself, not daring to move.
After a while, he realized that within the realm of consciousness, the dragon cub’s soul remained oblivious to his movements. Not only did it continue sleeping soundly, but it even smacked its lips in satisfaction.
Jing Nian, taking advantage of the little chubby cub’s body, spread his legs apart, leaning against the edge of the nest, and opened the quest panel.
