VFGRC Chapter 94

Xing Xing Dominates the Kindergarten (1)

The new school semester starts, and Xing Xing smoothly moved up from the Seedlings class to the Saplings class, becoming a member of the Sapling class at the Little Red Flower Kindergarten.

Even though Xing Xing has only been in the kindergarten for a year, he’s the most famous child at Little Red Flower Kindergarten—almost every child and teacher in the kindergarten knows about him, from the former Seedlings class to the current Saplings class. He’s a clever, smart, and handsome child named “Yu Shuoxing.”

In the Saplings class, Xing Xing also smoothly becomes the class monitor with full support from everyone. He assists the homeroom teacher in managing various matters in the class, and all the children in the class look up to Xing Xing.

On this day, a new semester starts at Little Red Flower Kindergarten and a new student transfers to the Saplings class from the former Seedlings class.

“We have a new student joining our class today. From now on, he’s a member of our Saplings class at Little Red Flower Kindergarten. Let’s all get along well with him and be his friends, alright?”

The children all chorus together, “Alright!”

Teacher Miao heaves a sigh of relief. She waves her hand towards the door and says, “Yan Yan, you can come in now.”

A child with a small backpack slung over both shoulders enters the classroom. His hands are in his pockets, and his delicate and beautiful face is filled with a rebellious expression.

Yan Yan enters the classroom with a slight pout. He looks at the well-behaved children sitting in rows and his pout becomes even more pronounced.

Tch! They’re all obedient little children who just listen to the teacher. They’re getting uglier one by one. None of them have the elegance and handsomeness that he has.

Honestly, what’s so fun about kindergarten? It’s better to stay at home every day and play the game of catching the bad guys with his big brothers from the neighborhood!

Children are just too naive!

“Xing Xing!” Teacher Miao waves at Xing Xing, and Xing Xing, who was sitting on a small stool, stands up and walks over to her.

“Teacher Miao.”

Yan Yan glances toward the direction of the voice and freezes in place.

A child wearing a neat white shirt and trousers is standing next to him. The child’s hair is parted to the side, revealing a smooth and full forehead along with delicate brows and eyes. Xing Xing’s round ink-black eyes sparkle like stars, looking clean and beautiful.

At least, Yan Yan has to admit that this child named “Xing Xing” is more, well, good-looking than he is.

But still, he’s only slightly better looking!

Teacher Miao says, “Xing Xing, Yan Yan is a new student. He’s not familiar with many places in kindergarten, so he needs someone to show him around. Can you help him get familiar with the kindergarten environment for a while?”

Xing Xing’s round apricot eyes shift to the rebellious cub standing next to him.

Although he’s not interested in taking care of anyone other than babies, since the teacher is asking… well, alright then.

“Sure!” Xing Xing’s face lights up with a sweet smile, and he looks at Yan Yan. “Starting today, I’ll take care of you, alright!”

Yan Yan blushes a little as he looks at Xing Xing’s sweet and cute smile.

Seriously, just because he smiled at him, doesn’t mean he’ll be friends with a child he just met.

Hmph! He won’t, no way!

Yan Yan pulls the corners of his mouth, trying to put on a fierce expression that would intimidate Xing Xing, but the next moment, the child named “Xing Xing” takes the initiative to hold his small hand.

Yan Yan’s expression becomes flustered. “You, you, you, what are you doing!”

Xing Xing turns his little head and looks puzzled. “Taking you around the kindergarten!”

Xing Xing raises his small hand. “Little Red Flower Kindergarten is really big. If you’re not careful, you might get lost easily. If we hold hands, we won’t get lost!”

Xing Xing’s soft and tender little hand feels like soft cotton when touched, giving a really nice sensation.

Yan Yan’s face turns a bit redder, and he follows behind Xing Xing.

Xing Xing spends the whole morning showing him around the kindergarten.

This is the task Teacher Miao assigned to Xing Xing, and Xing Xing can’t really refuse it.

However, Xing Xing doesn’t like this transfer student named “Yan Yan” at all.

He’s taking “Yan Yan” around the kindergarten, but Yan Yan doesn’t react at all and keeps a sour expression, pulling away from Xing Xing.

Xing Xing thinks that if he completes the task of showing the new student around the kindergarten as quickly as possible, he can return to the classroom sooner and play with the other kids.

After all, this “Yan Yan” seems so aloof. There probably won’t be any reason for him to come looking for Xing Xing on his own, right?

Xing Xing finishes showing Yan Yan around the last spot.

“Yan Yan,” Xing Xing smiles, “Is there anywhere else you’d like to visit?”

If not, he needs to hurry back to the classroom to enjoy the delicious and thoughtful lunch and snacks that his father prepared for him in the morning!

Yan Yan shakes his head.

Xing Xing lets out a sigh of relief. He holds onto Yan Yan and starts walking in the direction of the classroom.

Just as they’re about to reach the classroom, Yan Yan suddenly stops.

“What’s wrong?”

Noticing Yan Yan’s unusual behavior, Xing Xing asks.

Yan Yan’s gaze falls on the small hands they’re holding, and he hesitates for a moment.

“It’s just, well…”

Under Xing Xing’s puzzled gaze, Yan Yan hesitates and then continues.

“It’s not really appropriate for boys and girls to hold hands like this, right?”

“Boys and girls?” Xing Xing looks bewildered. “Are you a girl?”

Yan Yan shakes his head, saying, “I’m a boy!”

Xing Xing furrows his brow, “I’m a boy too!”

“Ah? You, you, you’re also a boy…”

“What? Did you think I was a girl?” Xing Xing would have rolled his eyes at Yan Yan if he didn’t have to maintain his image.

From childhood until now, Xing Xing has only received compliments about his handsomeness, never has anyone mistaken him for a girl.

Xing Xing has always believed that he looks masculine and handsome, a true man.

And now this new transfer student has the audacity to mistake him for a girl?

How infuriating!

With an annoyed huff, Xing Xing releases Yan Yan’s hand and gives him a stern glare, then runs back to the classroom on his own.

Yan Yan stands there for a moment, dazed, before finally catching up.

However, as Yan Yan chases after Xing Xing, he’s thinking.

Could there really be such a beautiful and cute boy in this world?

Yan Yan returns to the classroom only to find that all the kids are lined up, each holding various lunchboxes, and getting ready to eat.

Lunch?

Yan Yan looks at his empty hands and then grabs a nearby classmate.

“Where did you all get these lunchboxes from?”

The kid answers, “Our parents prepared them for us at home!”

“Huh?” Yan Yan is confused. “Parents still prepare lunch?”

“We just started the new semester, and the school cafeteria is under renovation, so it’s temporarily closed. That’s why we have to bring our own lunches in lunchboxes! Didn’t you know about this?”

Yan Yan says in bewilderment, “I didn’t know.”

He’s a transfer student; how would he know what happened at the school before he arrived? Besides, his parents didn’t tell him that he needed to bring his own lunch!

The classmate shrugs, “Looks like you’ll just have to go hungry.”

Yan Yan: ?

“Don’t be so definitive about everything!” a bespectacled kid chimes in. “Xing Xing brings a lot of delicious food every day, doesn’t he? You could probably ask him for help, new kid.”

“Oh my! Why are you so clueless! Just tell him directly that he can ask Xing Xing for help. If he goes to ask Star, then we’ll get less of the food we can grab, right? I heard Xing Xing’s dad made a lot of tasty things today! If you don’t want to eat, I do! ”

The bespectacled kid realizes his mistake and immediately covers his mouth.

Another kid nearby swiftly offers his lunchbox to Yan Yan.

The kid says, “I know you’re new to the kindergarten and not familiar with many people in the class… I’ll ask Xing Xing for some food, and you can have my lunch.”

Yan Yan isn’t foolish; he’s not clueless either.

After hearing the conversation between the two kids in front of him, he naturally realizes that the kid named “Xing Xing” seems to have parents who are good at making lunch, to the point that many kids in the class want to get some food from Xing Xing.

They’re offering Yan Yan lunch not only out of kindness but also because they want to save room in their stomachs to eat the lunch Xing Xing brought from home.

The kids attending Little Red Flower Kindergarten are either affluent or well-off, and Yan Yan’s family background is no different.

He’s grown up in luxury and has tasted plenty of exquisite dishes.

Seeing a bunch of kids in the class eagerly flocking to Xing Xing for his lunch, Yan Yan can’t help but think that the kids in this kindergarten lack discernment.

However…

Yan Yan pouts.

He’s a bit curious; what does Xing Xing’s lunch taste like? How delicious could it be?

“No need, I know Xing Xing. He just took me around the kindergarten earlier,” Yan Yan says, “I’ll ask him if he can share some with me.”

“I see…”

The two kids exchange glances, disappointment is evident in their eyes.

Yan Yan makes his way through the kids and joins the line for the heated lunchboxes.

Xing Xing is standing at the front, waiting for the microwave to finish heating his lunch. A crowd of hungry kids stands behind him, their eyes fixed on his lunchbox like hungry wolves.

Among these kids are several from other classes as well.

“Xing Xing!”

Yan Yan barely calls out “Xing Xing” when the sound of the microwave finishing fills the room.

“Ding!” With a soft sound, Xing Xing opens the microwave door.

Before Yan Yan can speak, he catches a whiff of an incredibly enticing aroma coming from Xing Xing’s lunchbox.

The next second, Yan Yan closes his mouth and swallows hard, feeling his mouth water.

The scent of this lunchbox… it smells so good!

“Do you need something from me?”

Just then, Xing Xing turns his head and looks at Yan Yan.

Yan Yan’s gaze drifts repeatedly to the lunchbox in Xing Xing’s hand.

Yan Yan: “I… I…”

Xing Xing: “Do you want to eat my lunch?”

Yan Yan’s face turns red.

He upset Xing Xing a moment ago, and now he’s considering asking to share Xing Xing’s lunch… wouldn’t that be impolite?

However, he didn’t bring his lunch, and Xing Xing’s lunchbox smells irresistibly delicious—enough to make his stomach growl.

Ordinarily, Yan Yan is a little king at home, but unexpectedly, he’s feeling shy now.

“Well, it’s like this…” Yan Yan stammers, “I… I didn’t bring…”

“It’s okay, I can share with you.” Xing Xing smiles slightly, and two adorable dimples appear on his cheeks. “My dad often prepares lots of tasty food for me to bring to kindergarten and share with everyone. So don’t worry, even after sharing with you, I’ll still have enough…”

Xing Xing’s words reach Yan Yan’s ears, and he gazes at Xing Xing in a daze, feeling a warmth spreading in his heart.

Xing Xing addresses the other kids, saying, “Dad prepared lots and lots of delicious food today. Everyone gets a share!”

The other kids in the class look at Xing Xing with admiration in their eyes.

“We get some too?!”

“Xing Xing, you’re so nice!”

“Xing Xing, I really like you and your dad!”

Hearing the praises from the other kids, Xing Xing’s lips curve even higher.

“Xing Xing, Xing Xing! What delicious food did your dad make today?”

“Everyone, take it easy, one by one!”

Xing Xing finds an empty table and sits down. When he takes out his lunchbox, nearly all the kids in the class gather around him.

Xing Xing says, “My dad made tuna seaweed rice balls, pork rice balls, salmon rice balls, and fried fish fillets…”

Xing Xing takes out some food and hands it to Yan Yan.

“If it’s not enough, you can ask for more from me!”

Yan Yan: “Thank you…”

Xing Xing smiles, “We’re all good friends, no need to thank me! Besides, Teacher Miao asked me to take care of you more!”

Yan Yan is touched and gets teary-eyed.

Yan Yan uses a disposable fork to pick up a piece of tuna seaweed rice ball.

The seaweed rice ball consists of three layers: a thin layer of seaweed on the outside, fragrant and soft cooked rice in the middle, and a filling on the inside.

The first two layers aren’t much different from the seaweed rice balls sold in stores. What surprises Yan Yan is the filling inside.

Crispy cucumbers and vegetables are common ingredients in seaweed rice balls. However, the sweet and tangy pickled radish is unusual.

The freshness of the tuna combined with the refreshing flavor of the pickled radish, wrapped in solid rice and covered with crispy seaweed and white sesame…

This is the best seaweed rice ball Yan Yan has ever tasted!

Apart from the seaweed rice balls, the crispy fried fish fillets, pork rice balls, and other snacks are all incredibly delicious!

Yan Yan finishes the lunch Xing Xing shared with him in one go.

Sitting nearby, Xing Xing finishes sharing the last seaweed rice ball with another kid. As he observes Yan Yan savoring the food his dad made with delight, Xing Xing raises an eyebrow slightly.

Although he doesn’t like this new kid, seeing him become so captivated by the food his dad made, Xing Xing’s mood actually improves.

In a couple of days, he’ll casually mention to this kid that their family runs a snack shop, the “Galaxy Snack Shop”.

This kid will surely take the bait like the others, dragging his parents, relatives, and friends to become regular customers of their family’s snack shop!

Thinking this, Xing Xing lets out a sigh.

He really has put a lot of effort into promoting his dad’s snack shop business!
