TBBMS Chapter 60

Wen Fan pondered for a while in his mind, and finally understood the meaning of System 999: “Are you saying that the reason I ended up inside the phone was because my consciousness fused with that data entity capable of entering the mental world, as you mentioned? And this fusion was rejected by my physical body, causing my consciousness to enter nearby electronic devices?”

As if confirming his speculation, System 999 bobbed up and down, indicating yes.

Wen Fan was a bit puzzled: “Then why did I end up in Luo Wei’s phone? Shouldn’t I have ended up in my own phone?”

As he spoke, System 999 emitted a sudden white light that scanned down Wen Fan’s body, as if checking his data information. “Found it. According to the memories stored in your brain, on the day of the incident, your computer browser was viewing information about the human Luo Wei. Thus, the data entity automatically recognized him as someone close to you and led you into the electronic device related to that individual.”

“Ah, I see,” Wen Fan said. He was somewhat relieved that he hadn’t been watching an animated show that day; otherwise, would he have been transported into an animated world?

But he still had an important question left unanswered: “System 999, I have a question.”

“Well, please go ahead and ask,” System 999 replied.

“Is the data entity you mentioned still within me?” Wen Fan inquired.

System 999 shook left and right, seemingly denying, yet its words were not a simple negation. “It’s still there, but it’s no longer producing data.”

“What do you mean?” Wen Fan was puzzled.

System 999 continued, “Because theoretically, a complete system capable of guiding your consciousness into the mental world should rely on the data entity’s functionality to assist in guiding your consciousness into the mental virtual world.”

System 999 looked at him, and a panel appeared behind it, displaying an explanatory animation:

“It’s like I made a lollipop that jumped into your mouth, letting you taste its sweetness. But I didn’t know it was in your mouth, so I couldn’t take it out in time. This way, even if you eventually finished eating it, you wouldn’t taste the sweetness anymore, and it would remain inside your body.”

As it spoke, the panel actually displayed Wen Fan’s own virtual image. The virtual Wen Fan on the panel followed the system’s words, eating candy step by step, demonstrating the system’s explanation.

The realism of the scene was overwhelming. If Wen Fan didn’t know that this wasn’t his personal experience, he might have actually believed that the person on the panel was himself.

“So, what you mean is…” Wen Fan tentatively started to speak.

And then he heard the system continue, “The data entity has already fused with you. However, you don’t need to worry; it has only expanded your concealed abilities and has no effect on your own self.”

It added, “You don’t need to worry about not being able to return to your own body. In fact, once our agreement is reached, you’ll be able to freely access all virtual platforms in the future. This includes mental realm platforms and electronic product virtual platforms.”

“Agreement?” Wen Fan looked at it. “What agreement?”

“Well, you see, our original intention was to transform static biological representations into dynamic biological structures. However, we didn’t anticipate that your consciousness would merge into electronic products, giving rise to the ability for virtual software within electronics to possess personal consciousness and dynamic forms.”

System 999’s voice carried undisguised astonishment. “This is a groundbreaking advancement far beyond our original design. When we detected that you were drawn into electronic products, we were looking for you, but we arrived a bit too late.”

“The agreement we’d like to make with you is that we hope you can once again enter an electronic product so that we can record your physical data after having merged with the data entity within the product. This will serve as research data for us. In return, we’ll reactivate the data entity within you. From now on, you can freely enter and exit any mental realm platform and electronic product virtual platform.”

Wen Fan contemplated the words. “Would it involve entering an electronic world again to record data? And in return, he would gain access to all these virtual platforms, including his own mental realm and any electronic devices?”

System 999: “Yes.”

Wen Fan felt a sense of wonder. Did this mean he had developed superpowers?

But then he considered: “How can you ensure that once I enter the electronic world, I won’t get stuck there again?”

System 999: “Once we sign the agreement, we will immediately grant you responsive data abilities. After that, you can enter electronic data on your own and assist us in replicating information. Then, you can freely enter and exit electronic products. Most importantly, from now on, when your consciousness leaves your body, it won’t have any impact on your physical self, just like humans dreaming.”

“So, that means I can be away from my body for as long as I want?” Wen Fan pondered and nodded in agreement.

After his conversation with the system ended, Wen Fan opened his eyes again and found himself back on the hospital bed. The sky was already getting light, and Lou Wei was still sleeping next to him. His laptop for work was left open and placed on his lap. Lou Wei had been with him in the hospital for the past couple of days, juggling between taking care of him and working, hardly getting any sleep. Wen Fan carefully tiptoed to close the laptop, which was beside Lou Wei’s leg, then took his own phone and sat on the edge of the bed.

The milky-white light sphere that appeared in his mind just now spoke again, “The data has been linked. You just need to close your eyes, and you can enter electronic products.”

Wen Fan held his own phone in his hand. When he silently followed the method described by the light sphere, he found himself back inside Lou Wei’s phone.

Wen Fan was taken aback. “Why did this happen?”

System 999 cleared its throat, “Possibly because your subconscious believed this place to be the safest, so—”

Wen Fan: “…”

But it didn’t really matter. After all, System 999 was only recording detailed data about his entry into the phone. It was the same regardless of whose phone he was in.

With this thought in mind, Wen Fan heard System 999 speak softly, “I will begin collecting data now, Mr. Wen Fan.”

“Alright.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Wen Fan noticed that on himself and on each app’s system logo around him, colorful aurora-like lights started to emerge. These lights intertwined and danced, gradually converging in the center of the phone screen. They then transformed into dense streams of data, rushing into Wen Fan’s mind at a speed he couldn’t discern.

The light sphere that had been residing in his mind rapidly gathered the data code. Five minutes later, System 999 said, “Done.”

Wen Fan then saw a white light sphere slowly emerge from within himself, still entwined with shimmering blue data code.

The light sphere spun in the air, its movement resembling that of a person turning around. “The incident with the data body affected your normal life. I apologize again,” it said.

Wen Fan quickly waved at it. “It’s fine.”

Honestly, apart from his current physical weakness due to being in a vegetative state for too long, it didn’t really have much impact on him personally. The past few months of his life felt like a strange dream.

And if it weren’t for this data body accidentally entering his life, he and Lou Wei might not have crossed paths at all.

Thinking about this, Wen Fan unexpectedly felt a bit fortunate. His meeting with Lou Wei seemed to have been built upon a series of coincidences.

It truly was quite remarkable.

After bidding farewell to the light sphere system, Wen Fan settled inside Lou Wei’s phone, which was propped up on a phone stand. He leaned his head on his hand and looked at Lou Wei, who was sleeping on the bed.

His QQ penguin, which hadn’t seen him for so many days, probably missed him too. It finally left its little girlfriend behind and came over to Wen Fan. It pulled out a small couch from behind and sat with Wen Fan.

Together, they watched Lou Wei sleeping on the bed through the phone screen. The various apps behind them had all woken up. Some were flying with their wings, while others were hopping around the jungle background on the phone’s desktop.

There were even some practicing swordplay in the forest, creating a peaceful scene.

When Lou Wei opened his eyes, he immediately noticed Wen Fan on the screen. Without hesitation, he got up, quickly walked to Wen Fan’s bedside, and leaned in to check Wen Fan’s breathing, which was still connected to the nutrient solution.

Once he confirmed that Wen Fan was fine, he sighed in relief, then turned his attention to the phone screen.

“Why are you back again?” Lou Wei picked up the phone and went to sit on the nearby hospital bed.

Wen Fan tilted his head and thought for a moment. “I feel oddly safe in your phone.”

“Because I can hold you in my hand?” Lou Wei chuckled, cradling the phone as he went to freshen up.

After he finished washing up and returned, he placed the phone with Wen Fan back on the computer desk. Then he turned on the computer and logged into the web version of Weibo.

In the past couple of days, due to Wen Fan’s situation, the internet-famous personalities in the gaming world had finally woken up. The entire Weibo was filled with hot topics related to Wen Fan and Lou Wei.

As Lou Wei opened Weibo to check the trending topics, he noticed that two of the top ten trends were related to Wen Fan and Lou Wei.

However, Lou Wei didn’t click on them. Instead, he switched to his own Weibo account.

His own profile page had just been opened, and the first post pinned to the top was the one he had posted a couple of days ago while Wen Fan was undergoing rehabilitation:

@LouWei_v: Fan Fan has awakened, everything is fine. [Heart.jpg]

And now…

Lou Wei pondered for a moment, then turned his head to look at Wen Fan on the phone screen.

The little avatar on the screen blinked its eyes, raised its head to look at him, and the tiny animal logos of dozens of apps surrounding it all seemed almost lifelike. They imitated Wen Fan’s posture, clinging to the phone screen and gazing at him.

Dozens of round, shiny eyes fixed on Lou Wei, reflecting his figure vividly.

Wen Fan whispered, “Bro, what are you doing?”

As he finished speaking, Lou Wei adjusted the computer screen towards him, then typed on the keyboard and posted a Weibo:

@LouWei_v: Fan Fan is awake. The clothes previously worn by Fan Fan’s Compagnon virtual character need to be changed. Seeking stylish clothing designs to give my paper figure a new look.

Actually, the acceptance of same-sex relationships wasn’t particularly high at the moment, but Lou Wei and Wen Fan’s love story triggered by Liu Junhao had already become a well-known CP. During previous interviews, hosts openly asked about it, which was a testament to their fame.

As a result, the comment section was filled with harmonious remarks from CP fans:

【Hey? If you want some clothes, just tell us directly!! Even I can design them!】

【Where are the members of the Exterior Design Department?! Come on, haha! Your boss is outsourcing!】

Some fans even openly commented below:

【I just want to know, are these clothes a wedding dress?? Or some kind of sexy attire!! I can’t believe it, it must be something daring.】

People continued to respond:

【??!! What’s up with the top comment?】

【Top commenter, are you kidding? GHS [dog head.jpg]】

While Wen Fan was looking at Lou Wei’s computer screen, he manipulated the screen using his consciousness. Seeing this comment, his consciousness froze momentarily. When he snapped out of it, he realized that he had somehow hit the “like” button at the bottom right corner of the comment, and it had turned red.

What was even more crucial was that he was using Lou Wei’s phone, so the “like” was attributed to Lou Wei.

Lou Wei observed the added likes to his account, raised an eyebrow, and turned his head to stare intently at Wen Fan. “So, you like this kind of thing.”

Wen Fan’s face instantly turned red, and he felt like slapping himself. The temperature of the phone screen soared due to his embarrassment, causing the chubby penguin beside him to start hopping and doing a little dance.

The entire hospital room could hear Wen Fan exclaiming loudly, “Absolutely not!!”
