HWMK Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Translator: Lynn

Ji Kai had a distinct feeling that it wasn’t just his imagination.

Over the past few days… it appeared that someone had been tailing him.

The individual in question was a man. Standing at 1.83 meters, Ji Kai himself was quite tall, but this man was even taller.

Despite the summer heat, he was decked out in sunglasses, a baseball cap, and a mask—such an ensemble seemed overzealous and rather conspicuous.

His physique might not have had the chiseled firmness of a gym-trained body, but it still embodied the quintessential inverted triangle shape. Straight, slender legs complemented his overall first-rate, model-like figure.

… Ji Kai couldn’t quite put his finger on the stranger’s intentions.

However, he didn’t dwell on it. After all, he wasn’t some delicate maiden; even if the stalker was a mere three to five centimeters taller than him, was there any reason why he couldn’t handle the situation?

Remember, he had been attending Muay Thai classes at the gym. If anyone dared to cross him, he could use his swift kicks to send them all the way to Siberia.

“Sir, you dropped your wallet.”

Huh? A deep, resonant male voice chimed in not too far away. Ji Kai turned his head—oh, come on.

The mask was removed, and weren’t those the same sunglasses and hat he’d seen on the stalker?

Even through the sunglasses, it was evident that the man possessed a prominent nose bridge and finely chiseled lips, showcasing a completely three-dimensional facial structure. Ji Kai hadn’t had a chance to observe it up close before. Surprisingly, this stalker actually looked rather handsome!

Then he noticed the wallet in the stranger’s hand—a brown leather wallet adorned with enigmatic little yellow chickens.

… It was undoubtedly his wallet!

“I apologize. Thank you very much.”

“Yeah,” the man nodded, but he remained rooted in place, showing no intention of leaving.

In that instant, Ji Kai felt an urge to blurt out, “Why have you been following me these days?” However, he also realized he had just accepted this man’s help; thus, losing face in this situation wasn’t a viable option.

Contemplating the situation, he quietly opened the wallet, retrieved 300 yuan, and handed it over to the man.

“Take it! My ID card and bank card, along with other crucial documents, were in there. Think of it as a thank-you fee.”

The man remained silent but directed his gaze toward the nearby coffee shop. “Do you have time? How about we grab a meal together?”

With that, he removed his sunglasses.

A striking single eyelid.

The eyes tapered seductively at the corners, silently assessing the scene. Alongside the chiseled nose and the slightly reserved lips, his countenance exuded an icy and unapproachable quality.

Oh, my…

Coupling such a cool demeanor with an impeccable physique, even the high-profile male models of luxury brands strutting along the nearby street seemed almost dwarfed in comparison.

Initially, Ji Kai had thought that Zhu Ling was the pinnacle of handsomeness he’d encounter in reality.

However, the man before him was undoubtedly on par with Zhu Ling!

“…” Ah!

Got it! Respond! 100% can’t go wrong, initiate a conversation!

Who would have anticipated this? After marriage, he didn’t slack off; his decision to maintain an impressive physique by regularly hitting the gym proved to be wise.

Look at this allure, this oozing charisma! Even those athletes sprinting to the third mile are overshadowed by his road-killing prowess. Could it be that this person started secretly following him after experiencing love at first sight on the street?

Yet, a nagging thought persisted~

Oh, handsome fellow! You’re a step too late!

“Apologies,” he smiled and raised his left hand, unveiling the platinum ring. “I’m a married man.”

“Well, I’m aware.”

What?

“…I just hope you don’t end up divorced anytime soon.”

Huh?!

A midsummer breeze rustled by.

“…” Ji Kai felt he must have misheard.

In other words, despite his good looks, his demeanor lacked sophistication. If he couldn’t engage romantically, he would swiftly pivot to curse the target with eternal misfortune and a lifetime of being dumped. Who would want that?

In any case, the stalker’s manner of speaking was puzzling when addressing a man. Despite his handsomeness, he seemed to judge people with neurotic tendencies through visual cues.

Being less clingy was preferable.

“Work’s done!”

“Thanks, Zhu Ling!”

Walking through the deserted corridor, the opposite side of the twin towers linked to the recording and broadcasting room was bustling with a crowd. Zhu Ling subtly veered aside to avoid the commotion. The security guard spotted his face beneath the sunglasses and nodded, allowing him to pass without hindrance.

Ye Yin’s private lounge.

Blond hair cascading, a pair of white, smooth legs encased in sheepskin boots dangled casually over the chair’s back. He lounged comfortably, tuning into the tracks from Zhu Ling’s latest album while nibbling on the strawberry cake he’d brought from home.

This had been his way since his student days.

No need for diets, he could indulge in all kinds of desserts without gaining weight, and his waistline measured a mere 58 centimeters. A unique star physique.

Zhu Ling closed the door gently, locked it, and looked somewhat dissatisfied.

“Aren’t you too much?”

Ye Yin raised his gaze and smirked playfully, pausing the song on his phone. “Oh, so your family’s bothering you?”

Zhu Ling’s expression darkened slightly.

The striking young man remained nonchalant and cheerful. “Did you really get caught? Is it a big deal? Have you experienced domestic abuse? Kneeling on a washboard?”

“Ye Yin.”

“Hmm?”

“The rules of the adult world—what? You know your boundaries, don’t you?”

Though the words were sharp, his tone and demeanor weren’t overly harsh.

Zhu Ling was always hesitant to reprimand the slender beauty before him. Approaching casually, he leaned against Ye Yin’s table, noticing the fan gifts piled on the floor.

Lately… Ye Yin has indeed been garnering more and more attention.

With his delicate fingers, he nonchalantly scooped up a bit of frosting from the strawberry cream cake.

Neither overly sugary nor cloying, the New Zealand cream was of high quality. It was hundreds of times better than what one could find in stores.

A meticulously packed box of four. The appearance and taste were far removed from what one might expect from the cold-faced executive of a certain prominent company.

“That surname Li truly spoils you.”

Zhu Ling regarded the young, attractive man with a subtle smile. “Would you like me to pay a visit to your home someday and greet your young master Li?”

“Come on over~”

Without hesitation, Ye Yin cupped his face in his hands, a glimmer of “anticipation” even flickering in his eyes. “Unlike you, I’m not married. I can break up anytime.”

“Oh, break up? Ji Kai and I have been married for three years, and we’ve been together for a total of five years including our dating period. But how long have you been with that individual? Twelve, or thirteen years? Wait, you two have known each other since childhood—so, is it around twenty years?”

Ye Yin extended his emerald-hued fingers. “We met when we were six, knew each other for twenty years, and dated for ten.”

“With such a long time together, a handsome, devoted, and wealthy partner like young master Li, what’s the problem? What dissatisfaction could you possibly have?”

“Twelve years with Li Weidu,” Ye Yin interjected, “doesn’t compare to being with you for twelve days, Zhu Ling. I’m being genuine.” There’s no joke in this statement.

Zhu Ling was momentarily taken aback, at a loss for words.

After a brief pause, he thumped the table in exasperation, causing the rabbit-shaped white porcelain teacup to quiver.

“Talking like this now… what was it when we were back in high school?”

“You were the one who confessed to me, but when I turned around, you were with that guy surnamed Li! I was happy for a few days, just like a fool!”

Ye Yin’s demeanor grew more earnest than his own. An air of grievance clouded his large eyes. “Don’t put it all on me! Since you liked me too, why didn’t you reply immediately? I… I wasn’t like now back then. I was freckled, thin, and short, but what about you? You were a school heartthrob! I thought you wouldn’t possibly accept me! I went home and cried for several days!”

“What’s wrong with my reputation?” Zhu Ling chuckled ruefully. “It’s you, in fact! Young master Li was pursuing you all day, flaunting his fancy cars every chance he got! I was just a commoner; what could I compare to a super-rich second-generation like him? Ye Yin, do you realize the impact of your actions, and how deep the psychological scar it left on me? Since then, no matter

who confesses to me, I doubt it! I wonder if others are jesting at my expense, and if they can easily move on to better options—I mean… for six or seven years, the prime time of youth, that’s all ruined by you!”

“I’m sorry, Zhu Ling. It’s entirely my fault!” Distraught, Ye Yin lunged toward Zhu Ling, wrapping his arms around him through a misty haze. After a while, a trace of minor resentment resurfaced: “But… you got married later?”

Yes… I did get married.

Zhu Ling thought of the rugged and lively man at home, and the image of the watermelon knife stuck on the dining table came to mind.

Speaking of which, it’s practically impossible for a regular person to embed a knife into a solid wood like that with their bare hands, right?

Haha, Baby Bear must have some kind of superhuman strength!

No, no.

With Xiao Yin around, how can thoughts of the one at home intrude and make him smile?

“Speaking of him… I went to see him yesterday, and I was genuinely taken aback!”

Ye Yin lifted his gaze slightly, his expression carrying a sense of grievance: “I thought I’d knocked on the wrong door, or that it was your butler who answered. Sewage worker, maybe! Zhu Ling, when did your taste become this bold?”

“…I’ve been telling you for a while that there’s nothing worth seeing. Who told you to go check it out? Put that thought aside!”

But, in the end, what kind of creature was the person who answered the door?

Originally, Ye Yin thought that if an alluring beauty with seductive eyes came to the door, he’d recognize them.

Regardless, he hadn’t expected that the individual who opened the door would be a tall, rugged, handsome man with an unmistakably masculine appearance. Clad in a black tank top, disheveled shorts, and flip-flops, his face bore a look of sleepiness, yet his eyes held an intense fierceness!

Zhu Ling kept insisting that he’d randomly picked someone for the sake of getting a certificate. But Ye Yin was utterly unconvinced.

He simply couldn’t believe it!

Even if it was a random pick, there’s no way he’d stumble upon someone as intimidating as this!
