VFMESR Chapter 1

“Your Highness, he won’t come,” Anji, the attendant, couldn’t help but blurt out as he watched Jiang Ling, the eldest prince of the Charles Star, who was still reluctant to board the warship.

His tone held a mix of anger and helplessness.

Today, the capital was bustling, not because a prince was about to be sent as a hostage to the neighboring country, but because the second prince, who possessed a powerful spiritual talent, had been admitted to the prestigious Holy Dan Academy.

The Holy Dan Academy was the top institution in the entire galaxy, with only a few dozen students admitted each year. Its difficulty was well-known, and its graduates were all exceptional individuals destined for great achievements.

The king had naturally gone to see him off, not to mention Sang Lan, who had always been cold towards His Highness.

Anji knew that His Highness still had feelings for Sang Lan, but anyone with a discerning eye could tell that Sang Lan liked the second prince. Even Sang Lan’s family had tacitly forgotten about the childhood engagement, but His Highness couldn’t let go.

Anji felt sorry for His Highness. There were so many Omegas in the galaxy; Sang Lan wasn’t worth it.

Lost in thought, Jiang Ling’s consciousness returned as he heard the words beside him. He glanced around and realized he wasn’t in the operating room anymore, and he wasn’t holding a surgical knife. This hand… wasn’t even his.

The memories of the previous owner flooded his mind, vividly depicting the daily life of a neglected and worthless prince.

Apart from that, the memories were filled with one thing – someone named Sang Lan, an Omega who had caused the previous owner considerable pain.

Images of Sang Lan’s charming smile and his coldness towards the previous owner intertwined in his mind, causing a severe headache. Jiang Ling struggled to suppress it.

He had never experienced such emotions before, so his initial reaction when encountering this kind of thing wasn’t empathy but shock at the fact that in this world, male Alphas and male Omegas could have children together. It was truly incredible. He was somewhat taken aback and began to contemplate whether he should have seriously considered the blind date his mother had proposed. Thankfully, there were also female Omegas in this world, and the newly transmigrated Jiang Ling still prefers to form a family with a female.

After absorbing the previous owner’s memories, Jiang Ling was pondering how to speak when new information suddenly flooded his mind. It was about subsequent events that the previous owner had never experienced.

He had transmigrated into an interstellar novel set in a galaxy at war.

During this period, the original owner would accidentally offend the ruthless ruler of the enemy country, Chu Wenyu, and meet a tragic end. Jiang Qian and Sang Lan were the protagonists of this galactic war novel.

Jiang Qian had consistently outshone his peers at the Holy Dan Academy, earned the admiration of all teachers and students, then went on to conquer various territories, eventually using the death of the original owner as an excuse to launch a war against the Burke Star, ultimately unifying the galaxy.

The cruel ruler of the enemy nation, Chu Wenyu, was the biggest villain in the novel.

This was an advanced but not a peaceful era. Meanwhile, the original owner was a powerless waste.

Thinking of this, Jiang Ling subconsciously began to sense the spiritual energy within him. This habitual action came from the original owner’s frustration with his own lack of spiritual energy. Every time he tried, he would eagerly attempt to sense the spiritual energy, but each time, he would find it too weak, not even reaching the lowest level, D.

Pain and frustration reflected on Jiang Ling’s face, and beads of sweat formed on his fair forehead. His soft, chivalrous, slightly curled golden hair also gleamed with moisture. He felt as though something were trying to break free from confinement.

This unusual occurrence drew a concerned look from Anji. He thought that His Highness was suffering because of that Omega again and wanted to approach and comfort him. However, he felt a resistance, as if a heavy pressure was pushing against him.

It felt… like spiritual energy, and a powerful one at that, an exaggerated phenomenon he had only seen on television. Just as he was thinking this, Anji shook his head. His own talent was lacking, only at the D level, and His Highness was even worse. He must have been imagining things.

Indeed, in the next moment, that oppressive sensation disappeared without a trace.

Jiang Ling felt something slowly forming in his mind, like a thin ribbon, and it seemed to be under his control.

The original owner had never experienced this, and for a moment, Jiang Ling couldn’t figure out what it was. However, a faint suspicion began to creep into his mind.

Anji looked at Jiang Ling, who had returned to his usual self, and patted his chest. He hesitated for a moment before saying, “Your Highness, he’s not worth your sorrow.” He had been so scared earlier, thinking that Your Highness might have had a heart attack.

“Yeah, I know,” Jiang Ling replied, recalling the lively and energetic appearance of Sang Lan. He responded calmly.

He couldn’t play the role of a perfect lover, and besides, the other person’s gender and appearance were not his ideal preferences. Moreover, self-preservation was more important to him now.

If Sang Lan has someone he likes, he wouldn’t hinder him from finding partners in the future.

A colonel in military uniform got off from the warship. He had already given this Crown Prince too much time; he needed to report to his own monarch as soon as possible.

As soon as he stepped off the warship, his spiritual power could sense bursts of cheers coming from the east of the city, contrasting sharply with the silence of the open-air parking lot.

He had heard a rumor about Charles Star. The two princes were born almost simultaneously, with the Crown Prince being born just a few minutes earlier. On that night, there was a strange phenomenon in the sky over Charles Star, a brilliant flash that scientists had yet to explain.

Because of this, the king firmly believed that one of the two princes was the chosen one, a child of destiny. Initially, his gaze was fixed on the Crown Prince with his striking appearance, a beautiful boy exuding an air of melancholy, with golden hair and blue eyes identical to that of the founding emperor of Charles Star.

However, as the two princes grew up, the overlooked Second Prince displayed a remarkable spiritual talent, while the Crown Prince remained unable to sense spiritual energy.

The originally enhanced appearance made Jiang Ling appear even weaker. In fact, his personality was just as timid and soft-hearted.

However all these rumors had nothing to do with Colonel Rita, whose task was simply to bring the Crown Prince before his monarch as quickly as possible.

Even after seeing Jiang Ling several times, Rita couldn’t help but admit that he had never seen a more aristocratic Alpha than this Crown Prince. And looking into Jiang Ling’s calm eyes, he felt that His Highness had changed in some ways compared to before.

“Your Highness Jiang Ling, if everything is resolved, please follow me.”

Anji held a small bag of their luggage, which contained only a few changes of clothes. But considering the original owner’s situation, there wasn’t much worth taking.

The two, master and servant boarded the warship, where a small team of Burkian soldiers was standing. The formation wasn’t imposing at all. It was unclear whether the enemy’s monarch didn’t care about this less-favored prince or thought it was unnecessary to go all out, as the original owner was considered a powerless waste.

Jiang Ling was led into a small bedroom, which was quite small, with only a narrow bed and a bedside table.

Anji was so angry that he was about to blow his top. His Highness might not be favored, but he was still a prince of a nation; how could they treat him so lightly? He immediately began shouting to seek justice from Colonel Rita.

“Your Highness, they’ve gone too far!”

Jiang Ling waved his hand to interrupt Anji. He knew the tragic fate that awaited the original owner, and since he had transmigrated, he had no intention of being cannon fodder. As a hostage, he needed to keep a low profile, not attract the attention of the enemy monarch, Chu Wenyu. After all, their opponent was Jiang Qian, not him.

The original owner started off by acting like a spoiled prince on the warship, which left the already irritable monarch of Charles Star with a rather unfavorable impression of him. Later, when things turned deadly, he didn’t even care about seeking revenge on Charles Star and directly killed the crown prince.

Chu Wenyu was a man who did as he pleased, wherever and whenever. His reputation even spread to other galaxies, with many speculating that his twisted and ruthless character was perhaps a result of his ugly appearance and a disabled body.

Jiang Ling had little desire for worldly pleasures and didn’t feel wronged. He wondered if his slightly blurred vision was due to his initial nearsightedness, and he felt that requesting a pair of reading glasses wouldn’t be too much of a bother.

Not far away, a soldier seemed to have heard Anji’s noise and came over to the door, asking, “Is there anything Prince Jiang Ling needs assistance with?” He addressed him as ‘Prince’ verbally but his gaze was far from respectful, filled with disdain.

What did it matter that he was a prince of a nation? They were already nearing the territory of the Burke Star. This prince’s life and death rested in the hands of their monarch, and his situation might not even be better than that of this lowly soldier.

He originally thought he would see Jiang Ling in a state of frustration, but instead, Jiang Ling stopped his activities, turned around, and rubbed his nose bridge, asking politely, “Could you please find me a pair of reading glasses? My vision wasn’t great before, and I’m still not used to it.” His voice was like a clear spring, gentle and courteous.

Anji didn’t know when their Highness had nearsightedness, but he didn’t question Jiang Ling’s request.

The soldier was a young Beta, who had no heat period and unaffected by pheromones, free to choose his partner. Due to his military service, he had a much tougher and dominant personality compared to the average Beta. He leaned more towards gentle and delicate Omega or Beta personalities. Suddenly, being confronted in such close space, his wheat-colored face inexplicably turned a shade of red.

Looking closely, this Alpha was even more charming than the brief glance from a distance. His skin was fair and delicate, almost radiant, and his deep blue eyes were like an endless ocean, capable of seeing into one’s soul, yet not at all feminine.

He scratched his head.

Well, maybe an alpha… wasn’t entirely unacceptable.

“Hmm? Would it be too much trouble?” Seeing the soldier in front of him not responding, Jiang Ling was worried about causing any more inconvenience and asked thoughtfully.

The soldier didn’t reply; he just gave him a glance and went to find the glasses. He walked away with a brisk and precise pace, only muttering quietly when he was farther away, “Such a bother.”

After silently reciting the military regulations once, the soldier resolved not to make eye contact with this hostage next time.

As a soldier, his loyalty always lay with the country and the monarch.
