WMWH Chapter 8

On the question of divorce

Sunny Weather | Sunday, July 13, 2019

Today was Sunday, and my wife took me to church for Mass early in the morning.

There were not many people in the church, but the expressions on everyone’s faces were very serious, and no one dared to whisper.

I sat quietly in the last row of the kneeling chair and looked at my wife. I watched him sing with other believers, read the Bible, listen to the priest’s sermon, and then receive Holy Communion.

Holly Communion was juice and bread. Every time my wife would receive Holy Communion, he received two portions, one for himself and the other for me.

It was strange to say that although I have eaten so many Holy Communions from God, I have never thought about becoming religious.

My wife had never mentioned joining the religion to me. Did he bring me with him to every Mass just to receive an extra Holy Communion and save money for my breakfast?

When I thought about it, I suddenly felt that my wife was a bit obsessed with money. Did my wife really marry me because I have a rich father?

Was it really because my father gave my wife’s father and mother a lot of money that he married me?

After breakfast, we walked home along the path.

The gravel road where it rained had a faint smell of grass, which was very pleasant.

It was still relatively early and there were not many people on the road. I held my wife’s hand.

I asked him: Did you marry me because my dad gave your parents money?

My wife stopped looked at me and asked: Who told you this?

I said it was your ex-boyfriend.

My wife looked at me as if I were mentally retarded and asked: What is your relationship with Luo Bin? Why do you believe whatever he says and don’t believe anything I say? I have said several times that he is not my ex-boyfriend!

I lowered my head in shame, feeling that my wife was right but I was wrong.

My wife was so angry when I didn’t say anything that she threw away my hand and left. After walking a few steps, he came back and said to me loudly: I married you just because you had a rich father. Then, what do you want to do now? Do you want a divorce now?

I lowered my head and said no after a while.

I wanted to tell you that my father’s money belongs to my mother and I have my own money. I wanted to ask you how much more money you need to live with me for a lifetime without getting divorced.
