DSF Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Han Mo had deliberately worn a cold expression ever since he heard that Yan Yibing was here.

However, he wasn’t in the mood to continue playing games. He wanted to see what Yan Yibing was up to.

As it turned out, Yan Yibing sent him the largest gift on the livestream platform, the legendary “overnight fee.”

‘Overnight fee’ is a nickname among streamers. This is because 5,000 yuan is indeed not a small sum, and to express their gratitude to their big-shot fans, streamers would continuously mention the big-shot’s name throughout the entire livestream, expressing gratitude and admiration.

Moreover, the effects of the gifts were often with heart and rose emojis, carrying a somewhat ambiguous implication.

Streamers would often say, “Tonight, I belong to XXX big shot,” as a playful expression.

Of course, these were just the customs on the YouYou Live platform, and Yan Yibing was unaware of them.

Han Mo’s lips curled slightly as he leaned back in his gaming chair, and asked with a half-smile, “What’s the meaning behind sending Endless Love?”

【It means I want to spend the night with you!】

【Han Shen, don’t give in. You’re worth more than this!】

【Damn, has Bing Shen had too much to drink today, or did he get lost? The Goddess Zone is the other way.】

【I can’t believe it, even the esports circle has started being like this?】

【Damn, stumbled into a weird place, thanks for the discovery.】

【As a drug-sniffing chicken, I’m deeply sorry.】

【I knew the relationship between master and disciple couldn’t be that simple! Ahhh, no, Han Shen, you’re my husband!】

Yan Yibing could see all the flirtatious messages floating on the barrage. Professional players had sharper eyes than ordinary people, and they picked up on more information.

He bit his lip, his ears turning warm, and the warmth gradually spread to his neck.

Yan Yibing had fair skin, and any change in color was quite noticeable. Although his ear was partially covered by his hair, his collarbone area was fully exposed.

Yan Yibing had always considered himself a professional player with no shame or limits, but lately, he found himself feeling embarrassed in front of Han Mo.

Fortunately, he was alone in the training room at the moment. Otherwise, if his teammates saw this, his reputation would be ruined.

Yan Yibing clenched his fist and his fingers danced on the keyboard as he quickly typed a few words.

—Don’t misunderstand, it’s a medical fee.

Because he had been placed on the sofa by the moderator, his message appeared in the center of the screen.

Han Mo’s eyes darkened, and after a while, he responded coldly, “Oh.”

【What’s going on? What medical fee?】

【Could you please explain further?】

【I hope it’s not because Bing Shen is injured. Although he’s on the opposing team, we still want him to take care of his health and play for a few more years.】

【Yan Yibing is twenty-five already; it’s normal to have injuries at this age. Other players have retired by now.】

【Don’t start a flame war in the chat. Diplomacy and peace. Momo can play until he’s twenty-five too.】

Han Mo’s eye crease deepened, and he calmly asked, “Bing Shen, care to explain?”

Yan Yibing let out a cold smile in front of the screen and replied —

Tremble in fear. Dad, even at 25, can still play. I’m out.

After saying that, Yan Yibing swiftly left Han Mo’s livestream and uninstalled the app.

Han Mo stared at the name that had suddenly disappeared from his livestream room, lost in thought for a moment.

This was Yan Yibing’s first time watching his livestream. He wondered if Yan Yibing was satisfied with his skills earlier.

But even if he was satisfied, he wouldn’t hear Yan Yibing’s praise as the captain.

Soon, Han Mo regained his composure.

“My master doesn’t want to explain, so don’t ask,” he said.

He logged back into the game, turned off the barrage assistant, and silently started ranking up.

He played for nearly seven hours, pushing himself to third place on the Korean server, surpassing Yan Yibing. Then he quit the game, put down the mouse, and stretched his wrists.

The sky was already bright, and a thin layer of mist covered the glass windows, carrying a hint of chill.

Once he relaxed his nerves, fatigue washed over him. Han Mo decided to go back and get some rest.

Vice-Captain Xiao Nuo entered from outside, still holding a small meat floss bun in his mouth.

With the upcoming exhibition matches, their team had adjusted their schedules. Since the matches were held during the day, the coach was concerned about them getting drowsy at the venue.

Xiao Nuo, noticing Han Mo’s exhausted appearance, exclaimed, “Captain, you played all night?”

Han Mo was too tired to speak and just responded with a simple “Mmm.”

Xiao Nuo walked to the water dispenser, poured a glass of warm water for Han Mo, and handed it to him, while casually asking, “Do you know that Bing Shen’s gift-giving spree in your livestream has caused a buzz on the forums?”

Xiao Nuo was a bit of a busybody. Every morning, he would check the forums and read the trending posts.

Han Mo closed his eyes, tilted his head back, and said, “Idle chatter.”

Xiao Nuo raised an eyebrow and continued, “So, what’s the deal with Bing Shen sending you a medical fee? Did you two have a fight or something?”

Xiao Nuo had taken a leave of absence a few days ago and was unaware of the incident where Yan Yibing suffered acetaldehyde poisoning at the league dinner.

Han Mo opened his eyes, and with a red bloodshot gaze, he looked at Xiao Nuo and said, “A fight?”

Xiao Nuo shook his head, expressing concern, “Bing Shen, a delicate young master like him, definitely can’t beat you. Don’t let there be any conflicts between you two. If anything happens to Yan Yibing, Manager Sun might come here with a hand grenade to settle scores.”

Han Mo furrowed his brows and supported himself on the desk as he stood up.

Sitting in front of the computer for an extended period had left his back stiff, but being young, he could recover quickly, and he had no plans to go for a massage.

Han Mo calmed down, chuckled, and said, “It’s better to f*ck him rather than beat him”

Xiao Nuo, still holding his little bun, widened his eyes, raising his voice in disbelief, “What him?”

Han Mo glanced at him, his expression becoming serious. “Since your hearing isn’t so good, let’s practice dual-ear positioning for an extra hour today.”

With that, he picked up his phone, walked past Xiao Nuo, and left the training room.

Xiao Nuo remained in place, unable to recover for a long time.

He was sure his ears weren’t malfunctioning; the captain had indeed said, “f*ck.”

But it could be that their captain, who had been gaming all night, had his head muddled, and it didn’t mean what he thought it meant.

But if it really did…

Xiao Nuo took a deep breath. “Damn, this must be some deep grudge. He can’t even beat him, He has to break him!”

Yan Yibing had a good night’s sleep at the base. The next morning, he packed his dirty clothes and went back home.

His family lived in a high-end villa area in a prominent part of the city, and it took him just over thirty minutes to drive there from the club.

His father was a lawyer with his own firm in the CBD area; occupying two entire floors of an office building. His mother was a university professor, and a doctoral supervisor specializing in literature and history.

His family had always enjoyed a good standard of living, and they owned several properties from early investments, which had doubled in value over the years.

His parents didn’t quite appreciate the money Yan Yibing made from esports.

Upon returning home, Yan Yibing handed a bag of clothes to the housekeeper and then comfortably settled himself on the living room couch to watch TV.

Occasionally, he would watch basketball.

Even though he wasn’t skilled at playing and lacked the height, he had dreams of becoming a basketball star when he was younger.

Yan Yibing’s father was currently on a business trip abroad, and his mother had a flexible work schedule. She didn’t have classes that morning and was at home.

As soon as she came out of her bedroom, she saw Yan Yibing lazily lounging on the sofa, his eyes fixed on the TV screen.

Unable to resist the urge to nag, she said, “You’re twenty-five years old now, and yet you come home and watch TV as soon as you arrive. You don’t even wash your own clothes. When do you plan to grow up and settle down?”

Yan Yibing sighed, tilted his head slightly, and with half-closed almond-shaped eyes, he replied indifferently, “Alright, I got it.”

His mother pressed on, “What do you understand? I’m asking you, when are you going to retire and go back to school?”

The Yan family was actually quite open-minded. Initially, when Yan Yibing, with his excellent academic performance, said he wanted to pursue esports, his parents hesitated for a few days but eventually agreed.

Yan Yibing’s mother had done some online research and found that most esports players retired around the age of twenty-two or twenty-three. They spent a few years pursuing their dreams and could still return to school in their mid-twenties.

However, they hadn’t expected Yan Yibing to stay in the profession for eight years, and now at the age of twenty-five, there seemed to be no retirement in sight.

Yan Yibing, feeling weary, replied, “I don’t know. Zero hasn’t found someone to replace me yet, so I can’t leave for the time being.”

His mother was exasperated. “In your current profession, even the dating market is tough for you. As soon as people hear that you’re a gamer, they think you’re not doing anything productive, and they don’t want to get to know you. No matter how handsome you are or how much money you make, it’s useless.”

Yan Yibing hurriedly nodded and said, “Yes, yes, it’s my fault. I’ll definitely prioritize finding a girlfriend.”

Seeing that he was absentminded, his mother realized that he wasn’t taking her words to heart.

She sighed, “Forget it. Let me ask you, what’s the deal with Han Mo’s medical fee? It’s all over the forums.”

Even though their generation wasn’t interested in gaming, since her son was in the field, Mama Yan had no choice but to pay attention. She often went online to read what others were saying about Yan Yibing, both the good and the bad. She even visited the tumultuous esports forums from time to time.

Yan Yibing’s fingers, clutching the remote control, stiffened for a moment. His gaze wandered, and he casually made up a story, “Abortion.”

He couldn’t admit that he was ignorant and risked shocking her.

His mother’s lips twitched as she casually picked up a twig from a vase, asking, “Whose?”

“Solo’s,” Yan Yibing replied.

His mother lightly slapped his leg, not too hard, and said, “Speak properly!”

Yan Yibing took a sharp breath, hugged his leg, and curled up in the corner of the sofa. “Sorry, sorry, I was just joking!”

A faint, shallow red mark appeared on his calf, but he wasn’t in pain at all.

He resembled his mother; his skin was almost devoid of hair, and it was very fair making it particularly prone to marks.

Despite this, he continued to hold onto his calf and blew on it lightly. His eyes reddened at the corners, his curled eyelashes adding to his pitiful appearance.

Mama Yan knew she hadn’t exerted much force. She glared at the pretending Yan Yibing, then turned and put the twig back into the vase.

“Han Mo is a good kid. If he stays, you’ll be able to retire smoothly.”

Yan Yibing hesitated for a moment, his eyelids drooping. He concealed the sorrow in his expression and said lightly, “Talking about this won’t help.”

His mother’s expression became complicated. She ruffled his hair and said, “You don’t need to make things so complicated. Back then, you were also at fault. You should find an opportunity to apologize to him.”

Yan Yibing slowly closed his eyes, biting his cheek lightly. He licked the faintly stinging mark and spoke softly, “The past is the past, and as the team captain, I wasn’t wrong.”
