Royal Dragon Knights' Leader

Shimei POV*

– Ha! –because of!

Voices filled with spirit are flying here and there.
This is the training ground for the knights.
I’m walking between the members who are working hard at training.

“. . .Hey, did you hear about that? The story at the border.”
“Are you talking about the front line with the former Margrave army?”
“Wah. That one is relatively stable, isn’t it? . . . It’s about the border with the demon country.”

As I watched the training, my ears caught the whispering voice.

“Something seems to have come out again. . . The ‘Black Witch’.”

I walked up behind the member who was talking.
Take a deep breath into my lungs and let it out with a roar.

“You! What are you talking about in the middle of training!”
“-Hii!? C-Commander!?”

The member who was scolded froze.
The other one resumed practice with a disinterested attitude.

“You seem to be out of your mind. . . I’ll give you one lesson.”

I hold a wooden sword.
Then he shook his head.

“Hey, what a shame! It’s awe-inspiring to have Commander Shimei train you!”

He says this with his mouth, but this member is probably just afraid of me.
The desperate appearance is backing it up.

“. . . Hmm. Then continue practicing seriously.”

I snort and lower the wooden sword.
He let out a sigh of relief and went back to practice.

(Absolutely. Even though it’s during wartime, it’s relaxed.)

Currently, our Kingdom of Perel is at war with two sides.

One of the opponents is the former Margrave of Shahalion army in the south western direction of the kingdom.
The other is the demon country Oine in the north eastern direction of the kingdom.

Our kingdom is mighty.
Even if we take on both sides at the same time, we will not waver.
However, the knights who support the front lines are highly skilled.

–Ton-Ton-Ton

As I was lost in thought, I heard the sound of banging on the wall of the training ground mixed with the shouts of the members.

I focus my attention on the direction of the sound.
Then there was a figure of a gentleman with silver hair.
When he came in, he was leaning against the wall of the training ground with his arms crossed.

“Hey, Shimei. Are you bullying the members again?”
“. . . don’t say bad things. I’m just watching the practice.”

This guy who’s been making things difficult from the beginning is Kilkenny.
He’s 23 years old, one year younger than me.
It’s been a rotten relationship since the knight training school.

“It’s already lunch time, isn’t it? If you don’t mind, would you like to join me for a meal?”

I realized it when I was told.
I didn’t know it was already that time.

“Okay. Wait a minute.”

I announce the end of the morning practice.
I left the training ground with him, leaving the members who were making a fuss.

Arrive at the dining room.
I sit next to Kilkenny at a simple long table.

“Haa. . . It’s a simple meal as usual.”

Lunch consisted of white bread, meat soup, and salad.
It’s a menu that I’m not dissatisfied with, but it seems to be different for this guy.

“I miss the meals at my parents’ house. . .”
“You. How are you going to compare the meals at the knights’ boarding house and those at the duke’s house?”

His full name is Kilkenny Beamish.
Although he looks like this, he is the third son of the Duke of Beamish.
His hair is long and shiny silver.
He’s thin and handsome, and he’s a gentleman who can be mistaken for a woman.

“If you’re talking about peerage, you’re the same, aren’t you? Shimei Westmar, the eldest son of the Earl of Westmar?”
“. . . No. You and I are just mere knights now, right? And unlike you, I’m satisfied with the food here.”
“Just a mere knight.”

Kilkenny threw a meaningful look at me.

“. . . What?”
“I don’t like it. The Royal Dragon Knights that the Perel Kingdom is so proud of. I can’t believe that the young commander who leads the brave and courageous elite group of dragon knights is just a mere knight.”

It’s a wasteful phrase.
I’m a little bad at dealing with this kind of guy.

“. . . If you say that, you’re the same, right? The Golden Knight who controls the Imperial Guard. That deputy commander.”
“No, you see. Because I’m the ‘deputy’ commander.”

I wonder what the ‘because’ is.
I think he’s a man that I can’t mix well with as usual.

I’m rather taciturn and unfriendly.
My body is big and muscular, and my bluish hair is cut short.
It can be said that I am the opposite of Kilkenny.
But for some reason, I had to deal with this man that I’m not good with.

“Anyway, let’s have a meal. You must be hungry from the morning practice.”
“. . . Ah. That’s right.”

Start a conversation casually while eating.

“Speaking of which, what were you doing this morning?”
“Me? I was listening to the missionary’s grateful preaching.”

Kilkenny gives a wink.
So I figured it out.
The missionary must be that female missionary dispatched by the church the other day.

“. . . Why don’t you keep it in moderation?”
“I know. I just heard a little bit of folklore.”
“Is there more lore?”

Dragon lore handed down in the Holy Church.
That’s what missionaries like to talk about.
If I remember correctly, it was the black dragon of calamity and the white dragon of salvation.

“Well, after the story, I was thoroughly entertained.”
“You. . .”

When it comes to this guy. . .
I let out a sigh.

We learned a little of the history of this world from his chapter and got to meet the male lead. It will be a few more chapters before Asahi and Shimei meet.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter and thank you for reading!
