The scorching warmth of his gland-adjacent skin meeting Cheng Che’s slightly cool fingers left Zhou Zhou both lucid and muddled. It was as if a spark had ignited in his mind. He pushed against Cheng Che’s shoulders with his hands, still trying to resist, “Don’t touch me. Just go…”

Before Zhou Zhou could finish his sentence, Cheng Che used one of his hands to immobilise Zhou Zhou’s hands and bent down to kiss him.

Zhou Zhou was caught off guard. One moment he was crying with tears in his eyes. But the next moment, Cheng Che had silenced him with a kiss. What made it even more profound was that Cheng Che was using Zhou Zhou’s own lips to silence him.

The kiss was soothing and gentle. It was not too deep. But Cheng Che patiently explored Zhou Zhou’s lips, gradually intensifying as the temperature rose.

Zhou Zhou’s heart raced as his body erupted with a torrent of heat in an instant. Even though it was just a simple kiss, under the influence of Cheng Che’s pheromones, Zhou Zhou felt himself breaking out in a sweat. His skin heated up with a tingling sensation that travelled throughout his entire body along his spine.

Zhou Zhou responded to Cheng Che’s kiss with a mixture of awkwardness and slowness, feeling both their lips gradually growing hot. The crisp scent of Cheng Che’s clear minty sake seemed to have no cooling or sobering effect. Instead, it intensified the fragrance, making Zhou Zhou’s head feel heavy and dizzy. It made him almost unable to stand.

Cheng Che slowly released Zhou Zhou’s hands and instead moved his hand to press his lower back, pulling him closer. Zhou Zhou’s waist felt unbelievably soft and flexible under the manipulation of Cheng Che’s hand. He was slightly trembling. Zhou Zhou subconsciously reached for Cheng Che’s shoulders, breathing rapidly. The pheromones and blood in his body surged together, unable to break through due to the suppressants but coursing wildly through his veins. His gland was constantly heating up, making one of Cheng Che’s hands resting on it feel scorching hot.

Just the touch of their lips didn’t seem enough to satisfy Zhou Zhou anymore. Sensing Zhou Zhou’s growing urgency and desire, he somewhat recklessly ventured with his tongue. But Cheng Che interrupted the kiss when Zhou Zhou’s wet tongue brushed across his lips. Cheng Che lifted his head slightly, watching Zhou Zhou’s tightly closed eyes and trembling eyelashes.

Zhou Zhou looked like a puppy suddenly deprived of its food. He whimpered in dissatisfaction. He opened his eyes. Within his moist gaze was a misty confusion. His eyelashes were still adorned with fresh tears. The corners of his eyes flushed, as if they had accidentally brushed against a hint of peach-coloured pigment, creating a subtle, wet blush. His cherry-red lips were plump and moist from their kiss, exuding the most primal and pure allure.

Zhou Zhou’s gaze remained fixed on Cheng Che, whose eyes appeared deep and dark against the backlighting. It seemed impossible to discern Cheng Che’s specific gaze or expression. His body continued to heat up. All his senses were clamouring with emptiness and desire. Zhou Zhou was torn, not knowing which desire to fulfil first. Yet, at this moment, Cheng Che seemed reluctant even to grant the simplest of kisses.

Cheng Che’s dark eyes were filled with an inscrutable intensity. His expression was a mixture of desire and restraint. He was undoubtedly affected by the pheromones but was also trying to maintain control.

The tension between them hung heavily in the air. It was unclear which direction their desires would lead them next.

The two of them continued to gaze at each other, both panting heavily. Finally, Cheng Che spoke. His voice was low and husky, “Are you feeling better?”

Zhou Zhou’s body was already in a sensitive state. So his emotions were even more fragile. He was on the verge of tears. When Cheng Che asked this, his lip trembled and tears started to fall again. “Is this your way of comforting someone? Do you do this every time someone cries in front of you? You could have just let me cry. There’s no need to kiss me. It’s meaningless…”

“Only you that I’ve comforted like this,” Cheng Che said as he reached out to wipe away Zhou Zhou’s tears. “What’s bothering you so much?”

Zhou Zhou really wanted to say; I feel uncomfortable everywhere. I want you to kiss me again, to hold me tightly, and maybe even a little harder.

But he felt so embarrassed that he couldn’t bring himself to say such words. Instead, he kept his head lowered and continued crying. He cried until he felt like he wanted to slap himself for being so tearful and annoying.

“Don’t cry,” Cheng Che whispered. “If you keep crying, I’ll continue kissing you.”

“…”

So Zhou Zhou cried even louder. His shoulders were shaking. His nose turned red. Tears were streaming down his face.

Zhou Zhou didn’t even know why he was crying so much.

Cheng Che let out a helpless chuckle. “Is that what you want? For me to kiss you?”

His tone carried a hint of teasing and indulgence. Zhou Zhou felt so embarrassed by his words that he wiped his tears away while pushing Cheng Che away. “Of course not! Just go.”

“Alright. I’ll go then,” Cheng Che said.

He released his hold on Zhou Zhou’s waist and turned to walk out of the room.

Zhou Zhou was momentarily stunned. Only then realising that Cheng Che was actually leaving. Just like that?

I was still crying! You just kissed me! That was my first kiss! And now you’re fucking leaving just like that?!

Zhou Zhou felt incredibly wronged. His legs trembled as he walked over to the table to take a seat for a moment. He was a bit tired from crying. While the strange sensations in his body were slowly subsiding, deep down, he still wished for Cheng Che’s alpha pheromones to comfort him. But Cheng Che had left so abruptly.

Just as Zhou Zhou was about to sit down, there was a knock on the door.

He turned in panic and, through his teary eyes, saw Cheng Che standing at the door with a glass of water. There was a playful glint in his eyes. Cheng Che asked, “Thirsty?”

Zhou Zhou suddenly felt like he had been played again. He sniffled and turned his gaze away. His voice quivered as he replied, “Not thirsty!”

Cheng Che walked over with a glass of water. Even when he was just one step away from Zhou Zhou, he showed no signs of stopping. Zhou Zhou inexplicably felt nervous. In his flustered state, he hurriedly tried to sit on the desk behind him. However, when he placed his hands on the desk, he went weak in the knees. He nearly toppled under the table.

Cheng Che quickly reached out a hand to steady him, sighing, “Don’t move around so much. Have a sip of water.”

Zhou Zhou managed to stabilise himself on the desk, watching Cheng Che’s elegant and beautiful fingers holding the transparent glass. The water inside rippled with an enchanting allure.

Zhou Zhou had been crying for quite a while and he was indeed feeling a bit thirsty. So he lowered his head to reach for the glass of water.

Cheng Che moved the glass slightly backward.

Zhou Zhou tried to take it but couldn’t reach it. He was getting a little frustrated and leaned forward to reach for the glass. But no matter how he moved, Cheng Che kept shifting it away from him with a mischievous smile on his lips.

Zhou Zhou was getting angry again and felt like crying once more. He used his foot, hanging off the edge of the desk, to kick Cheng Che’s knee. “You said you’d give me water!”

He kicked lightly because he couldn’t bear to use too much force. Zhou Zhou liked Cheng Che so much. Even when Cheng Che had inexplicably kissed him when he was still in the identity of an alpha. And even when, after that, he acted as if nothing had happened and teased him relentlessly. But Zhou Zhou still liked him. No matter how much he pretended to be tough, he couldn’t hide his affection for Cheng Che.

“You hurt me with that kick,” Cheng Che lowered his head to look at his knee as he teasingly said.

“Who told you to tease me!”

Zhou Zhou hadn’t managed to drink any water and was persistently kicking Cheng Che’s leg.

Cheng Che reached out and grabbed Zhou Zhou’s restless kicking foot and then gently opened his knee and stood between Zhou Zhou’s legs. He handed the glass of water to Zhou Zhou’s lips and said, “Alright, no more fussing. Just drink.”

Zhou Zhou gave him a sceptical look and reached for the glass.

Cheng Che pressed down on Zhou Zhou’s hand, continuing to bring the glass closer to his lips. He then raised his chin slightly and said, “I’ll hold it for you.”

Zhou Zhou sniffled and obediently drank the water, gulping it down like a puppy being nursed. His moist, red lips were tightly pressed against the glass. His eyelashes were drooping and they were still damp from tears, quivering in clusters. His snowy-white neck was stretched and his Adam’s apple bobbed with each swallow, producing the sound of swallowing.

Cheng Che patiently held the glass of water. His eyes were deep and dark, silently watching Zhou Zhou as he drank half of it. In reality, his gaze had probably been lingering on Zhou Zhou’s smooth neck, bypassing the glass. Cheng Che put down the glass and noticed water had spilled from Zhou Zhou’s mouth, making it wet and dripping.

Zhou Zhou was just about to raise his hand to wipe his mouth when Cheng Che leaned in. His hair blocked the overhead light, creating a quiet shadowed space. Cheng Che lowered his head and used his tongue to lick away the water at the corner of Zhou Zhou’s mouth.

His tongue was moist and tender. As it swept across Zhou Zhou’s mouth, it left a brief sensation of wet warmth, making Zhou Zhou feel a tingling sensation. Zhou Zhou thought to himself that Cheng Che’s lips were so soft so his tongue must be even softer. He really wanted to taste it.

Zhou Zhou had cried and vented his frustration. But now he finally realised that his face was turning red.

He let out a soft hum and involuntarily shrugged his shoulders, suddenly feeling too shy to look at Cheng Che. He lowered his gaze and said, “What are you doing?”

“Helping you wipe your mouth,” Cheng Che replied casually.

“I don’t know what you mean by doing this…” Zhou Zhou kept his head down and continued, “Cheng Che, if you’re doing this to comfort me, it’s not necessary. I’ve said that I just needed to cry it out.”

Cheng Che looked at Zhou Zhou’s blushing face and ears. He switched to ask a different question, “Are you feeling uncomfortable?”

“A bit,” Zhou Zhou sniffed. “I don’t really know why.”

“Look up,” Cheng Che instructed.

Summoning his courage, Zhou Zhou lifted his head and met Cheng Che’s gaze. His eyes were filled with tears, wet and reddened, like watercolour spreading. The colour was extending from his eye sockets to slightly tint his eyelids and the corners of his eyes. His nose was red and his face was flushed, dampened by the tears. It resembled a dew-kissed flower petal, clear and beautiful. The lights in his eyes were like stars illuminating a spring night.

Cheng Che continued to watch him and lowered his voice. “Don’t you have anything to say to me?”

Zhou Zhou had many things he wanted to say. But he didn’t dare to say it. His mind was in chaos and he wasn’t feeling well. He couldn’t just spill everything about being an omega and his feelings for Cheng Che. Zhou Zhou didn’t know why Cheng Che had kissed him. Was it merely to comfort him? Or did Cheng Che actually like alphas? If Cheng Che found out that he had been hiding things and intentionally getting closer to him, would he be angry?

“Yes,” Zhou Zhou wiped away his tears. “Can I hug you?”

Cheng Che was standing between Zhou Zhou’s legs. He was so close to him. Yet Zhou Zhou couldn’t seem to detect Cheng Che’s pheromones. He desperately needed a release. There were two ways to achieve it. One was for Cheng Che to leave immediately, allowing Zhou Zhou to calm down on his own. The other was for Cheng Che to get even closer, letting Zhou Zhou smell his pheromones to suppress the restlessness in his body.

Zhou Zhou wanted to choose the second option.
