Facing the bride’s vows, the groom fell into contemplation.

Ruan Jiujiu: ???

This guy, could he really be silent over food?

Was he willing to give her up for the sake of a meal?

Ruan Jiujiu started to have significant doubts about herself, to the extent that she not only questioned whether Cheng Jun wanted to marry her but also if he wanted to marry a chef.

The onlookers were equally surprised, fearing that Cheng Jun might do something to back out.

“Come on, boss! Show some initiative!”

Cheng Jun: “…”

Ruan Jiujiu: “…?”

Just then, the sound of a helicopter overhead roared, causing Ruan Jiujiu to instinctively look up and see flower petals falling from the sky, showering the ground.

She extended her palm, catching a few delicate peach blossom petals that were a beautiful rosy hue.

A rain of peach blossoms had unexpectedly descended.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the remaining clouds in the sky took on a deepening shade, gradually transitioning into night.

The buzzing sound drowned out the quiet conversation between the two, making it difficult for others to hear. They could only see the couple locking eyes, with Cheng Jun lowering his head and taking her hand while saying softly, “I’ve heard that earthly brides can be wed during the day, but brides in the form of fairies must wait until after sunset to cross the River Styx and return home together.”

“I was afraid you might run away.”

For a moment, Ruan Jiujiu didn’t know what to say and could only gaze at him in astonishment.

So, Cheng Jun hadn’t agreed earlier because he was afraid she would disappear into the sunset like the legendary ghost brides.

Ruan Jiujiu was touched and amused at the same time.

She glared at Cheng Jun indignantly. “I told you, I’m a little fairy.”

Cheng Jun reached out straightforwardly.

His fingers were slender, with a faint callus on the tips. These hands had reached out to her countless times, but this moment was unlike any other.

Ruan Jiujiu carefully put the men’s wedding ring on Cheng Jun’s finger.

Due to her nervousness, her hands were trembling slightly, and it took several deep breaths for her to summon the courage to continue.

Cheng Jun was much quicker with his movements, gripping Ruan Jiujiu’s hand directly and placing the ring on his own finger.

His palm was cold, clearly not as calm and composed as it seemed on the surface.

Ruan Jiujiu reached the bottom, then hesitantly asked, “Is… is that okay?”

Cheng Jun calmly instructed, “Next, don’t move.”

He took out another women’s wedding ring in such a solemn setting that Ruan Jiujiu couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

She pointed at the gigantic diamond on the ring, asking with a mix of tears and laughter, “How could the ring be this huge?”

To be precise, it was the diamond on the ring, about the size of a pigeon’s egg, which was blindingly large and gave off an aura of nouveau riche.

It was undeniably beautiful, but…

It was just too large!

Cheng Jun appeared as though he had discovered a grave mistake in his work, and his complexion was not quite right. According to his research, dominant CEO characters in novels always gave the female lead a diamond as big as a pigeon’s egg. Was it because the cutting technique was bad, causing Ruan Jiujiu not to like it?

As the helicopter continued to shower them with flower petals, others could only hear the thunderous noise, and they were impatiently waiting, not knowing what the couple was saying. Cheng Jun remained silent for a moment, but then his expression deflated like a balloon, and disappointment was evident in his tone.

“Don’t you want to marry me anymore?”

His brows and eyes were unbelievably beautiful, and his eyes were cast downward, making him look like a pitiful little wife, so pitiful that Ruan Jiujiu’s heart immediately softened.

In this scene, if Cheng Jun were wearing a wedding dress, it would still look perfectly natural.

“How could that be? I haven’t refused you.”

“Alright.”

Cheng Jun directly took her hand to put on the ring.

Ruan Jiujiu hurriedly stopped him. “Wait! You haven’t even asked if I’m willing!”

Cheng Jun: “I don’t want to ask.”

Ruan Jiujiu: “…?”

Cheng Jun said, “I don’t want to give you a chance to hear the second possibility, otherwise, I won’t be able to selfishly ask you not to leave me.”

“…”

“…”

Ruan Jiujiu thought she had indeed fallen into Cheng Jun’s trap. She probably wouldn’t be able to say the word “no” to him anymore. She tilted her head back, gazing at Cheng Jun, and her eyes seemed to twinkle like countless stars.

“Then you listen carefully… I’m willing.”

Their distance closed in, and everyone held their breath, waiting for the newlyweds to kiss. The videographer, watching them closely, almost forgot to adjust the focus.

Tu Nan and the other bachelors were ecstatic, as if they had proven Goldbach’s conjecture1Goldbach’s Conjecture is a famous unsolved mathematical problem, and proving it would be a significant achievement in the field of mathematics; in a non-mathematical context, it means that Tu Nan and the others are extremely thrilled, as if they had accomplished something remarkable or solved a challenging problem. , cheering, “The boss isn’t asexual after all!”

Wen Xi: “…”

Just as they were about to kiss, a petal from the peach blossom landed on the tip of Ruan Jiujiu’s nose. Her nose tingled, and she couldn’t control it, sneezing loudly.

“Ah-choo!”

Cheng Jun: “…”

Ruan Jiujiu looked innocent. “Sorry.”

The shower of petals ended, and the helicopter left, as if a dream were coming to an end. Ruan Jiujiu quickly reminded Cheng Jun, “Hurry, put on the rings.”

Their exchange ceremony wasn’t finished yet.

Cheng Jun helped her put on the ring, and as Ruan Jiujiu looked at the large diamond on her hand, she suddenly had a strange feeling of being like a nouveau riche.

Cheng Jun was about to kiss her when they heard the sound of fireworks bursting, interrupting their moment. Some single guys were cheering and setting off fireworks, exclaiming, “Congratulations on your wedding!”

Ruan Jiujiu, who had been splattered with fireworks, turned her face in bewilderment. She had probably given the camera a clear view of this reaction.

Cheng Jun looked at Tu Nan with a deep gaze.

Tu Nan and the others shrank their necks and said quietly, “It seems like we set them off too early?”

Facing them was the boss’s death stare.

Ruan Jiujiu rubbed her belly and said, “Is there any food? I’m hungry.”

Cheng Jun hesitated.

Ruan Jiujiu asked, “What is it? Do you have something to say?”

However, shouldn’t they be heading to the bridal chamber next?

Cheng Jun stared at Ruan Jiujiu silently, hoping she would understand his meaning.

Ruan Jiujiu misunderstood and said, “No problem, you can eat as much as you want today.”

Cheng Jun fell into deep thought.

He really should have arranged a traditional Chinese wedding, so he could take Ruan Jiujiu away directly.

Tu Nan and the others had prepared champagne and various barbecues and snacks.

Ruan Jiujiu, who was starving, went up to eat, dragging her wedding dress with her. She enjoyed the food with everyone, having completely forgotten about the groom.

Ruan Jiujiu ate until she was almost full and suddenly realized that Cheng Jun was nowhere to be seen.

Fu Zicheng gently tapped her shoulder.

Ruan Jiujiu turned around in confusion and saw Cheng Jun, who had just been cool and domineering, standing alone under a tree, looking lonely and desolate, as if he had been abandoned by her.

Ruan Jiujiu said, “…”

Strange, why has Cheng Jun changed so much today?

She picked up a few pieces of cake and walked over to him.

Everyone was laughing and having a great time, making Cheng Jun appear even more lonely.

Ruan Jiujiu asked, “What’s wrong with you? Why aren’t you eating anything?”

Cheng Jun’s disheveled hair hung down loosely around his temples, and his handsome face was filled with disappointment.

Ruan Jiujiu: “…?”

Cheng Jun: “I think I don’t feel very well. Could you accompany me upstairs to get some medicine?”

Ruan Jiujiu said: “Oh, sure.”

Ruan Jiujiu followed Cheng Jun upstairs, leaving several single guys who had witnessed the entire process dumbfounded.

“Did you guys see that? Did you see the boss’s expression?”

“Is he even human? Is the big bad wolf pretending to be Little White Rabbit?”

Wen Xi rolled her eyes at Tu Nan. “Isn’t it normal for a man to change for the woman he loves?”

Tu Nan blushed and said, “I can be your Little White Rabbit too.”

Wen Xi replied, “Stay away from me, old man.”

Ruan Jiujiu followed Cheng Jun upstairs.

The villa had three floors, each with a resting area. Cheng Jun led her to the third floor, and her white wedding dress trailing on the red carpet of the spiral staircase looked stunning.

Cheng Jun opened one of the rooms and pulled Ruan Jiujiu inside, closing the door.

Ruan Jiujiu belatedly realized that something was off. “Why did you close the door?”

Cheng Jun’s gaze was distant. “I don’t want anyone to come in.”

He had bought the house a long time ago, and the room had been arranged well in advance. Who was the big bad wolf and who was the little white rabbit was not entirely clear.

In the room, there was a wine cabinet with several bottles of wine. Ruan Jiujiu took out two bottles and a few wine glasses, trying to calm herself down.

She knew what she was going to face next from Cheng Jun’s expression.

She kicked off her high heels to make it easier for herself to move around.

In the dim light, Ruan Jiujiu’s petite feet stood on the carpet, making her toe’s adorable whiteness stand out. Cheng Jun’s gaze fell on her feet, and he couldn’t look away.

Sensing his gaze, Ruan Jiujiu quickly withdrew her feet and sat down on the floor.

Fortunately, her wedding dress was voluminous and effectively concealed her feet.

She pulled Cheng Jun down to sit beside her and then opened a bottle of wine. She placed empty glasses in front of them.

Ruan Jiujiu poured a full glass for Cheng Jun, filling it almost to the brim.

“One for you.”

Then she poured herself a tiny amount, just about the size of a fingernail, likely to vanish in one sip.

“One for me.”

Ruan Jiujiu wanted to get Cheng Jun drunk; it was as clear as day.

Cheng Jun sat on the floor, propped up by one hand, and stared at Ruan Jiujiu.

Then he asked slowly, “Are you trying to get me drunk?”

Ruan Jiujiu chuckled nervously, “Why would I…”

“But I’m already drunk.”
