Ch. 7.2
Two days later, the Shi family.
A party to congratulate Second Young Master Shi in his recovery and discharge was held at the Shi family villa. It was a small gathering, and only relatives and friends who had a good relationship with the Shi family were invited.
But even so, there were thirty or forty people at this party, and the decoration in the villa was even more grand. The careful preparations all showed the Shi family’s extreme love for their youngest son.
Shi Qingning’s task was much easier than expected. He only showed up at the beginning to start the party, and then was placed on the sofa in the corner of the hall by Mother Shi, where he ate the cake peacefully.
Mrs. Shi was worried that her youngest son didn’t like to eat a lot of things. So this time, they had invited a private chef to get that change in the taste of the food to see if the young master liked it.
Shi Qingning was sitting alone on the soft high-backed cashmere sofa. Every time Mother Shi looked over, he would scoop out the cake – and when Mother Shi turned back with joy, the spoon would be put down.
There were a lot of eyes on the sofa here, but not many people actually came to talk to Young Master Shi. Perhaps because the second young master Shi rarely showed up before, and there were rumors that he had fallen out with his family, no one dared to get too close to the young master for the time being.
Shi Qingning just sat there silently among the crowd.
Unfortunately, there is still no new useful information.
He thinks it’s because the young master never left house before and had too little communication with outsiders. Now he couldn’t find any familiar faces.
Shi Qingning looked at the food in front of him, and was thinking about whether to change the direction of the cake to avoid his mother from seeing the flaw, when he suddenly heard a sweet female voice.
“Hello~”
A girl wearing a black and white pleated skirt and Martin boots pointed to the sofa opposite him and asked.
“Can I sit here?”
Shi Qingning looked up at the person and nodded, “Please.”
The girl then sat happily on the sofa, resting her chin on her knees with her hands, and blinked as she looked at Shi Qingning .
“Don’t you even remember who I am?”
Shi Qingning smiled, “Xiaolin?”
“Hey you…” Shi Xiaolin was discouraged, “You’re no fun!”
She said as she casually picked up a lollipop from the tray, peeled it open and stuffed it into her mouth, speaking with half of her cheeks round and bulging.
“I thought you had forgotten me, your cousin after we haven’t seen each other for so long.”
Shi Qingning smiled and said nothing.
Before the banquet, he went through all the photos of the Shi family. Shi Xiaolin was his cousin who was two years younger than him.
But if it were the original young master, he would probably have really forgotten her.
“Congratulations on your discharge from the hospital. I heard…” Shi Xiaolin blinked, “Your first wish after recovery was to go to school?”
The little girl’s eyes were bright and her thoughts were clearly written on her face.
They were too easy to guess.
But Shi Qingning had no ill feelings toward her.
“Yeah.”
“You’re too good – that you want to go to school!” Shi Xiaolin said with a bitter look on her face, “I wish I could take a leave because of being sick and not go to school!”
Hearing that Shi Qingning asked her, “Why don’t you want to go to school?”
“Go to school? How boring!”
Shi Xiaolin reached out and handed over a piece of milk candy. Seeing Shi Qingning shaking his head, she quickly opened it and threw it into her mouth, and ate it along with the lollipop.
“I don’t want to go to school at all. But I am also tired of playing games. I just want to…”
She ate the candy very fast, and after a few moments, her voice became clear again.
“I just want to travel through time.”
Shi Qingning raised his long eyebrows slightly, “Time travel?”
“Yup…travel into a world without homework.” Shi Xiaolin said with a smile, “Have you watched the time-travel drama that has been particularly popular recently? All the students of our class have seen it and listed the worlds they most want to travel to.”
“There are a total of twenty girls in our class,” she counted on her hands, “and fifteen of them want to be concubines in ancient times.”
Shi Qingning cooperated with her and asked, “What about you?”
“I don’t want to, they are too boring!” Shi Xiaolin said, “The palace is so boring. If you are going to be transmigrated somewhere, it has to be somewhere adventurous! I want to be an ocean-going female pirate and drive a pirate ship everywhere!”
Saying that she even raised her hand and waved, and she was really waving with a bit of unstoppable momentum.
“I’ll kidnap the prince when we get ashore! And if the knights come to rescue him, I’ll also lock them up and watch them die together!”
“…”
Shi Qingning’s hand shook and he almost dropped the cake in his hand.
This…my sister is quite… quite daring.
He coughed and asked, “Then have you ever thought about how to sail a pirate ship? What have you learned about it, sailing? Machinery? Weather?”
Shi Xiaolin frowned, “I don’t need to learn, female pirates already know these things.”
She the went on to say, “Don’t you know, time travel can be divided into body travel and soul travel. I definitely want to travel through the soul.”
Shi Qingning laughed.
Children nowadays know quite a lot.
“After the Soul Transmigration, I can directly have the strongest and the most beautiful body. I can master the knowledge without learning it, and my body will automatically help me do things.”
Shi Xiaolin was full of confidence.
Shi Qingning gently curved the corners of his lips.
He put down the silver spoon and intertwined his long, white fingers.
He then tapped a finger on his chin, looked at Shi Xiaolin, and asked.
“Then have you thought about the consequences of soul-travel?”
“…Don’t look at me like this, you are committing a foul!”
Shi Xiaolin covered her eyes with her hands to block the opponent’s lethal face, but she couldn’t help being curious, secretly looking at the person through her fingers and asking.
“What are the consequences?”
“Soul travel means that your soul enters someone else’s body.”
Shi Qingning got a donut from the tray. The freshly baked donut was extremely soft and covered with frosting, with the center filled with fresh strawberry, which looked particularly attractive.
He then forked a strawberry and placed it on the donut.
“That is to say, your memory and the memory of the original owner are all there stored in the same brain.”
Shi Xiaolin looked at his movements curiously, forgetting to block them with her hands, and nodded, “Yes.”
“Then do you know what happens when two people’s memories enter the memory area of the same brain?” Shi Qingning asked.
Shi Xiaolin was confused, “What happens?”
Shi Qingning pressed down his wrist and slowly squeezed the second strawberry into the already filled donut.
With two strawberries piled together, it’s skin was torn, with the sweet juice dripping out.
But the force of his wrist still did not stop as the strawberry continued to deform, and was finally squeezed into the hole of the same donut –
And then the originally soft outer ring of the donut burst in an instant.
“Obviously the memory area gets damaged.”
Shi Qingning said softly.
“Or, maybe even the brain can get injured.”
Hearing that Shi Xiaolin was so terrified that her even voice stumbled, “How, how is it possible? The brain is not that fragile…”
She tried hard to refute, “And memory, memory will obviously merge…!”
“Memory will merge, but it requires to go through a process.”
Shi Qingning said.
“What is the biological basis of memory? The coordinated response of a large number of neuron clusters present in the brain. To put it simply, just as the stomach takes time to accommodate and thoroughly mix the things you eat, the things you learn and store in the brain also need to have enough neurons as well as time to accommodate and sort them out.”
“But as you can’t eat a whole pig at once, likewise your brain can’t fit in another person’s memory all at once.”
Shi Xiaolin looked very confused, listening to the elegant voice of the person in front of her in a daze, giving her stepwise analysis.
“Have you ever seen that type of movie? It is called a brain-cells-burning movie, because the amount of information is too much, and it will make people’s brains hurt after watching it.”
“A two-hour movie that does not only rely on sight and hearing but your thinking and processing ability as well as the ability of your brain to quickly sort different kinds of information out gives people a ‘brain-cells-burning’ feeling. The complete human memory that covers the five senses like sight, smell, touch, etc., and which had lasted for more than ten years, is suddenly loaded into another person’s brain.”
Shi Qingning said softly asked
“Do you understand what will happen?”
Shi Xiaolin’s face turned pale, and she even forgot to lick the lollipop in her mouth.
She stared blankly at the young man with a beautiful and gentle face in front of her, and for a moment she felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave.
But the other party didn’t give out any kind of weird feeling. Even after talking about such a terrifying thing, his expression remained normal as he carefully placed the broken donuts and strawberries on the empty plate at the corner of the table.
After cleaning up, he clapped his hands and looked up.
“High school biology compulsory course three.”
Shi Qingning blinked, his long eyelashes reflecting a golden lusher under the light.
“There is a chapter on the nervous system.”
He said with a smile, “Study hard so that time travel can become easy for to cope up with.”
There is actually no such thing called as memory replacement in the biology book, only the basic nervous system is given. Shi Qingning said this, just to encourage learning.
In front of him, Shi Xiaolin was completely frozen after being indirectly admonished.
“Shi Xiaolin!”
An angry and loud voice came from not far away.
A fashionably dressed woman walked over angrily carrying a lambskin 1lambskin is considered a luxurious premium leather and thus they are more expensive bag.
“You stole sweets again!”
She originally came to catch her red-handed and then teach her a lesson, but she didn’t expect her daughter, who always sneaked away faster than anyone else, to uncharacteristically not apply oil on the soles of her feet this time 2It’s a metaphor for running quickly Instead, she was stunned in place.
When the woman walked in front of her, Shi Xiaolin stood up suddenly and plunged into her arms!
“What are you doing…”
The woman was still angry at first, but then she immediately realized that something was wrong.
The shoulders of her daughter in her arms were trembling slightly, as if she was crying.
There were many people around who were attracted by the silence and were casting doubtful glances. The woman asked quickly without caring about others.
“What’s wrong? What’s going on?”
The girl in her arms raised her head, her eyes were slightly red, she was even biting her lower lips tightly, as she finally said something after holding it in for a long time.
“I want to go to school!”
The woman, “??!”
Amid everyone’s surprised gazes, little Shi Xiaolin, whose face had turned pale, wiped away her tears, held her head in her arms, and cried.
“I will never skip classes and watch dramas again… ugh… I will obediently go to school from now on!”
