Chapter 22
“Sir, I’m really sorry. I bought this NR equipment from someone else, but yesterday, I sold it to another buyer.”
When Julius arrived in front of the shop of the black-market shop owner, the shop owner who had closed down for a few days finally opened the door. Before Julius could become excited, the shop owner who learned of his intentions showed a regretful expression.
“I wasn’t here these last few days because I just went to deliver the product,” the shop owner said.
Julius fell silent.
“You only have one set? There isn’t more?”
“That’s right.” The shop owner nodded.
Julius snapped in fury. “Who did you sell to!”
The flesh of the shop owner’s chubby face was squished together, making his eyes almost completely disappear. He shook his head and smiled like a Maitreyan Buddha. “Sir, there are rules for our business. We can’t disclose our customer’s private information.”
“I really have an emergency!” Julius stepped forward and took out a small crystal card, which was an anonymous card that with one swipe of it on one’s LUX, the S-Dollars inside would be deposited into their account.
“There’s one hundred thousand.” Julius pushed the crystal card toward the shop owner. “Tell me, who did you sell it to?”
The shop owner’s gaze fell on the crystal card, and his shrewd eyes flashed “$$” signs. He didn’t answer immediately, but still maintained the same expression from before, with the only change as the addition of a hint of struggle. “This…aren’t you making things difficult for me? I…”
Julius’ eyes narrowed. “Sir, you only have one chance. Forget it then.” He gestured to withdraw the crystal card.
Julius might be “naïve” in some aspects, but when it was related to business, he had seen his fill of people like the shop owner who wanted to take advantage of the situation and raise the price.
Julius really wanted the NR equipment, but it didn’t mean that he would allow the other party to walk all over him.
The shop owner was clever and immediately understood what he should do.
He took the crystal card and said honestly, “Sir, to tell you the truth, I don’t know who the buyer is. The buyer gave me a generous price and had me personally deliver it all the way to Planet Gleams. When I arrived at the designated delivery location on Planet Gleams, I didn’t see the buyer in person. The only news I can give you is that I put the package in the hands of an advanced AI.”
Judging that the shop owner was not lying, Julius felt a headache coming.
However, there was news about two NRs. One was in Jellal’s hands, and it was impossible to buy something from Jellal.
No one could “buy” something from Lord Jellal unless he didn’t want it anymore.
The remaining one may still have some possibility.
As long as the other party was not someone like Jellal, Julius believed he had a good chance of getting his hands on it.
But looking at the description by the shop owner, the other party didn’t live on the imperial capital planet, but on the Gleams planet that was a certain distance from the imperial capital. The other party was also so anal as to ask the shop owner to personally deliver the package, forbidding the use of Interstellar Galaxy Express, even sending a robot to the destination location to accept the package.
From this, Julius deciphered that this person must have decently high status, or at the very least, the other person wasn’t poor.
“Give me the place and time of the transaction.”
The owner who easily got 100,000 S-Dollars gave it happily.
He felt that he had been quite lucky recently. The NR equipment sold was bought from an old woman for less than 10,000 S-Dollars, and it was bought by a mysterious buyer at a high price, and now a rich kid was wanting it too.
If he had known that this would happen, he wouldn’t have sold it so quickly, allowing the two sides to bid and the highest bidder to win the prize. He estimated that he would earn more that way.
But it wasn’t bad now, either.
One had to be content with what they had.
Sending away the rich kid who was obviously wearing a camouflage mask just now, the shop owner smiled and swiped the 100,000 S-Dollars to his account.
While Julius was having a difficult time searching for the NR equipment, Bambi was trying to think of a gift to give her invisible guardian.
The little girl wracked her brains for a long time, but she still couldn’t think of something to gift.
She didn’t have anything special to give away.
“I know!” A light bulb lit up in Bambi’s head, and she opened the drawer under the coffee table and took out a picture book from it. Some of the previous pages were filled with scribbles that were drawn on by Bambi with crayons.
The little girl turned to the blank page on the back and carefully tore one off. She decided she would fold a small animal for Mr. Invisible.
Bambi could fold several small animals like frogs, butterflies, rabbits, pigs, fish, and so on, which Hugh had made for Bambi and gave to her as toys.
The little girl sometimes naughtily disassembled the small animal folded by her grandfather and then folded it back according to the creases on the paper. Hence, she naturally learned how to fold them.
“I don’t know if Mr. Invisible will like it, but this is the only proper gift that Bambi can give.” Bambi folded while speaking to the teddy bear.
Grandpa said that gifts didn’t have to be expensive, but what mattered was if it was meaningful.
If Mr. Invisible didn’t like it…
“If he doesn’t like it, I wouldn’t know.” Looking into the teddy bear’s eyes, Bambi pursed her lips as she said this.
But she still began to fold paper earnestly.
Thinking back to the steps, Bambi became so immersed in her thoughts that she wasn’t mindful of the time that had passed. After drinking a whole bottle of baby formula boiled in organic mineral water, she was not hungry at all.
The first animal she folded was a rabbit, and after folding it, she colored it with colored pencils, applying some here and a little there. A colorful little rabbit is done.
“Winnie, does it look good?” She shook the little rabbit proudly in front of the teddy bear, and then, with her finger, pressed down on the teddy bear’s head, expressing that it looked wonderful.
The little girl’s vanity was greatly satisfied, and she put the finished work aside and began to fold a small frog.
She folded several in one go. While Bambi was folding the piglet, she suddenly forgot what the next steps were.
After trying several times without success and only ending up tearing up the paper for her trouble, Bambi looked at her teddy bear, her tender little face flashing with discouragement.
Suddenly, she remembered something. Her eyes lit up. She quickly got up, ran back to the bedroom, and opened the second drawer of the bedside table full of origami animals, all folded by Hugh for his granddaughter.
Bambi almost forgot they were here.
Finding Grandpa’s little piggy folded from the pile of origami toys, Bambi also dug out a winged green dragon. She thought it looked nice so she took this green dragon out and returned to the living room.
The little girl carefully disassembled the little pig and the green dragon and then folded them back according to the creases on the paper. In the process, after she learned how to make the folds, she tore off a new page and began to fold a new one.
Of course, she wouldn’t take the ones her grandfather had folded to make up the number.
In the spacious living room, the small figure sat quietly on the cushion, folding the semi-hard drawing paper in her hand, and occasionally looked up to talk to the teddy bear, who was sitting opposite her.
Next to her, there were several lifelike origami animals of different colors sitting or standing or lying on their stomachs, while she was folding the last and most difficult one in her hand, the winged green dragon.
“My hands feel so sore.” Bambi shook her little hand, put down the half-folded green dragon, and lay down on the floor mat to rest.
Turning her head and looking at the five fruits of her labor, Bambi felt a sense of accomplishment.
“If Mr. Invisible doesn’t like it, I’ll keep it myself.” That was what she thought.
Lying on her stomach, the tired little girl fell asleep, her long eyelashes fluttering, and she quickly fell asleep.
Through Jellal’s “help”, Tristan finally received Ethan’s financial support. Knowing that the two “age-forgetting” friends had something to talk about, Tristan voluntarily left.
And what exactly Jellal and Ethan talked about, no one knew, not even Tobias. The only thing Tobias knew was that when Jellal left Ethan’s office, the expression on Jellal’s face was pleased.
“My lord, shall we head back?” Tobias asked.
Jellal thought for a moment and said, “Head to the imperial palace.”
Tobias answered the affirmative and was just about to start the craft when he heard Jellal say, “Forget it. Let’s head back.”
Tobias didn’t dare to ask why.
Of course, he wouldn’t know that the reason why Jellal changed his mind was that he suddenly remembered a certain little one. He remembered when he entered the game in the morning that the little one said she wanted to give him a gift. After so long had passed, he wondered what she had prepared to give him.
Thinking that, Jellal’s expectations of the little girl’s gift became more important than going to the imperial palace to find the emperor. Jellal chose the former without hesitation.
That’s how willful he was.
Back at his palace, Jellal told Tobias to leave and close the door, before he nonchalantly turned on the NR device and logged into the game.
As soon as he entered the game, he saw the scene of the little one sleeping on the ground with her butt sticking up in the air.
“……”
The System appeared with a reminder. [Bambi is sleeping soundly. Please don’t wake her.]
After silently taking two looks at the picture, Jellal squatted down, bending his long legs, and poked his finger at the little one’s face. He said with great disdain, “Who did you learn this sleeping posture from?”
