After a week of recuperation in the villa as instructed by the doctor, Jiang Dao recovered completely and officially returned to the crew.
Shooting progress during this period was not smooth. For several days, rain didn’t fall until it was nearly nighttime. After rushing to finish one or two shots, there wasn’t enough sunlight to film, so the crew could only stop.
Fortunately, although intermittently, filming progressed steadily.
Jiang Dao’s first scene after returning is a wire scene with Chu Yinlong.
As this was his first wire scene, he was a little unaccustomed to the obstacles on his body. After two bad shots, he gradually became more comfortable.
This is the most action-packed of the rainforest scenes, and has to be split into many shots, with multiple close ups. Coupled with specific weather and lighting needs, it took more than three days to complete.
Filming in the rainforest finally finished.
Next, only the last, hardest and most dangerous part remained – the mountain road chase and fight between Jiang Dao and Chu Yinlong.
There are only four actors involved in this part, but the number of security and safety staff more than doubled. Given the equipment required to film, the crew retired the bus and rented cars to drive to the shooting site themselves.
Although this scene is a single continuous shot, it will be shot in two parts and two different locations. One is a straight road for close-up action shots, and the other is a winding mountain road for the chase itself. This time, the scene was arranged according to risk, because whether it is the close-up or the long-range shot, there’s a higher degree of danger involved.
Jiang Dao finished his makeup and dexterously boarded the van, ready to shoot.
The first scene is where he and the co-pilot change positions while driving, ready to start fighting.
The reason they started with this is because it is a relatively safe-close-up of the car with unchanging scenery outside the car, so the van does not need to be driven and can be directly towed.
“Ready?” Chu Yinlong sat on the front tractor and asked with a megaphone.
Jiang Dao closed the door of the truck and gave him an OK gesture.
The actor playing the co-pilot is a stuntman, and his movements are very flexible. The interlaced movements of the two people were almost completed in an instant. However, the shooting effect did not satisfy Chu Yinlong.
“No matter how fast the speed is,” he said, “Jiang Dao’s movement of pulling the seat is quicker. When you switch to the co-pilot spot, pay attention to the camera. Just now, your arm blocked your face.”
“Understood.” Jiang Dao changed back to the driver’s seat and responded. .
As a result, a scene taking less than 5 seconds had to be shot over and over again, and the makeup artist had to wipe Jiang Dao’s sweat and make up several times.
The assistant director smiled helplessly and shook his head: “Xiao Chu, are you using your own standards for Xiao Dao’s scene? Jess is a supporting role, things don’t need to be so detailed, right?”
Chu Yinlong was slightly startled at the reminder, and smiled wryly.
“But he did a good job,” the assistant director added. “It’s better to be strict, since he might be able to play a leading role in the future. It’s a pity that this face is out of character for most protagonists, but he should be able to play villains quite well.”
After speaking, he clicked this tongue: “Hey, I found that he’s actually quite suitable for playing the villain. In the few fight scenes earlier, those eyes were murderous, and I got goosebumps all over my body. Don’t know who he learned those eyes from. Such a pretty boy, but so scary… Fortunately, Mr. Yao Yuhua has a strong aura and can hold him down, otherwise he’ll really turn into the main villain.”
Chu Yinlong looked at Jiang Dao who was preparing for the next scene and gave a perfunctory hum.
He didn’t think that Yao Yuhua overpowered Jiang Dao with his aura, but it was because Jiang Dao and Yao Yuhua had no obvious rivalry, so he restrained his aura and was willing to bow under Yao Yuhua. Later, in the process of filming again and again, Jiang Dao learned to retract and release his aura freely, so as not to be crushed by him.
As for the level of Jiang Dao’s peak momentum, he’s actually very curious.
After a whole day of filming, the close-up parts between the co-pilot and Jiang Dao were done.
The next day was the highlight of the racing scene – a close-up of Jiang Dao and Chu Yinlong jumping and fighting between cars.
Since the close-up does not capture too many roads and mountains, plus some camera tricks, the two cars don’t need to be too fast, and it’s much safer than the real chase scene.
After three rounds of safety checks, Jiang Dao and Chu Yinlong climbed onto the cars, and shooting officially started.
The stunt driver started the car, and the two cars maintained the same relative distance, traveling on a flat surface. In front, a huge blower was attached to a work truck to blow air towards Jiang Dao and Chu Yinlong, creating a feeling that the two were traveling at a high speed.
This close-up shot was cut into sections, and only two or three actions were required for each shot, which made things even easier for Jiang Dao and Chu Yinlong. Additionally, in order to avoid potential safety hazards, there were many breaks in between for them to rest and recover between shots.
However, no matter how stable the road was, it was a difficult fight scene, and actors will inevitably make mistakes.
“Stop, stop!” The assistant director looked at the screen on the monitor, and stood up swiftly, “Hurry up medical staff, and deal with the injury.”
A medical nurse jumped out of the car with a box, and rushed to Chu Yinlong to stop the bleeding from his wrist.
In just a few seconds, Chu Yinlong’s hands were covered in blood, but he still comforted Jiang Dao with a nonchalant smile: “It’s okay, it was just a bad angle. It has nothing to do with you…”
Although it wasn’t serious, the lead actor was injured, and no more filming could be done that day.
Unexpectedly, after Chu Yinlong’s wound scabbed the next day and was hidden with concealer, Jiang Dao accidentally injured his elbow halfway through the shot.
As a result, the straight road scenes took four days to complete.
After returning to the villa to take a bath, Jiang Dao lay face down on the bed, and massaged the back of his waist for a while. When he heard Chu Yinlong enter, he pretended to be weak and asked, “Is all filming like this?”
With a medical plaster from the nurse in hand, Chu Yinlong stepped forward and lifted Jiang Dao’s clothes.
“Almost, it’s normal for difficult parts to take a while.” He stretched out his hand and pressed Jiang Dao’s waist. “Here?”
“En…” Jiang Dao nodded. After waiting for the ointment to be applied, he said again, “The last scene is really difficult. We can add handles and pedals when shooting close-ups, but for medium and long-range shots, we have to grab the car directly?”
“Of course.” Chu Yinlong pulled down Jiang Dao’s shirt so it covered his waist. “So, get ready, the next few scenes are more dangerous.”
Sure enough, a few days later—
Jiang Dao was helped up from the ground by the swarming medical staff. He repeatedly said that the fall was cushioned and his injuries weren’t serious, but he was immediately sent to a nearby hospital for an x-ray.
When the results came out, Jiang Dao slapped the results on Chu Yinlong’s chest: “Look, I said no bones were hurt.”
Chu Yinlong frowned and looked at the exam results, and flipped through it: “Soft tissue contusion, It is recommended to rest for four weeks. Um… four weeks, it’s not actually…”
Jiang Dao felt something was wrong when he heard his tone, and immediately brought up what the doctor in the crew said. “Tie it up with a compression bandage, and it’s no problem to continue filming. You used to be like this too. Why can’t I?”
After his refutation was blocked, for the first time, Chu Yinlong felt that his way of continuing to film in the face of injuries seemed to set a bad precedent.
In the end, considering the filming schedule and rental issues, Chu Yinlong had to agree to let Jiang Dao film.
However, the result of Jiang Dao going into battle with an injury made people laugh and cry.
The assistant director was speechless, watching as Chu Yinlong grabbed Jiang Dao’s waist and protected him in his arms.
This is the third time.
“Stop…” The assistant director raised his hand and wiped his face. “Xiao Chu… you designed the movements, and you were the one who designed for him to be kicked off. Xiao Dao’s counterattack and shaky balance were also arranged by you… He’s still holding onto the ladder, so why are you nervous? You, a ‘policeman’, are so nervous about a ‘criminal’. Do you think it is appropriate?”
Teacher Chu, who used to show off his might on the set, finally became the object being taught by others.
There was a burst of indistinct buzzing laughter on the set, both subtle and blatant.
Chu Yinlong: …
Off the field, there was a lot of jubilation in “”Red Owl Logistics Makeup, Modeling, and Sugar Group”.
“It’s over, it’s over, Teacher Chu can’t seem to stop it anymore [doge]”
“Father Long’s inherent image in my heart has also been updated [funny]”
“Hahahahaha, I never thought the first time I drank CP, it would be real! I don’t care, they are real! Please get married on the spot!”
“It’s hard to explain without getting married.”
“It’s a pity we can’t post this in Long-Dao CP Talk! When will the movie be announced! I can’t hold back the beast in my heart! I! Want! To! Nibble! CP!”
Jiang Dao didn’t know that there was a group for him and Chu Yinlong’s CP. The founder is even a very reliable member of their logistics crew.
Standing in front of Chu Yinlong, Jiang Dao rubbed his wrists and sighed heavily: “Mr. Chu, if you do this again, my hands will be weak… You also know that my endurance is not very good, so can you… Please don’t pity me too much, and fight quickly.”
In the ‘Sugar’ group: “Ferocious! Xiao Dao! Fierce!”
“Do you know if they’re recording the extras? I really want to get a copy!”
“The extras seem to be recorded by the handsome guy from the sixth unit… I have a bold idea [thinking]”
“Sister come on, get him to take these extras!”
“Get him, get the tidbits!”
The logistics girl secretly went to talk to the little brother on the sixth machine.
Chu Yinlong arranged for a ten-minute rest, and the medical staff stepped forward to give the two a muscle-relaxing massage to avoid the real danger of continuous high-intensity shooting.
Finally, on the fourth retake, Chu Yinlong held back his trepidation and watched as Jiang Dao fell down. He grabbed the ladder of the car, and the whole person was shaky, struggling for a moment before finally stabilizing his body.
The assistant director didn’t say anything, and the scene finally finished.
The two parallel cars stopped slowly. Clutching the edge of the car, Chu Yinlong rested his forehead on the cold metal plate, and let out a long breath.
After so many years of shooting action thrillers, he finally tasted fear.
CYL shot himself in the foot with a machine gun.
