MMH Chapter 37

Uncle Wen(14)

Wen Yan didn’t ask any more questions; the two got up and freshened up.

After last night, the atmosphere between them became even more intimate. Wen Xueli personally changed his clothes and even carried him to the bathroom.

Wen Yan felt like he was in a honey jar; no one had ever cared for him so meticulously. Although his grandparents were good to him, they were usually busy earning a living, and they didn’t have the time and energy to be so attentive to him.

Even the toothpaste was squeezed for him as if he were being taken care of like a child.

However, enjoying the man’s care, he was quite happy.

Originally, he wanted to ask the man if he remembered that night, but the man treated him so well that he suddenly let it go.

Whether the man remembered or not, they now had a new beginning, and there was no need for him to dwell on it.

Perhaps someday, he would bring it up, and by then, their feelings would be even deeper. The unexpected incident in Hongcheng that night would become a cherished memory.

After breakfast, Wen Xueli took him out.

Originally, the man wanted to carry him to the car, but he quickly took a few steps, indicating that he was no longer in pain.

Wen Xueli held his hand, somewhat regretfully saying, “Missed the chance to be attentive.”

Wen Yan chuckled at him.

Wen Xueli pinched his fair face and suddenly smiled, leaning close to his ear and saying, “Since you’re not in pain, can we continue tonight?”

Wen Yan: “…”

The man blew into his ear, “Baby was so proactive last night; I really liked it.”

Wen Yan: “…”

The events from last night flashed in his mind, and he felt like his entire being was starting to steam.

The smile at the corner of the man’s lips deepened as he led him into the car.

After sitting down, pretending to be calm, his blushing face gave away his shyness.

The man chuckled, touching his heated face, “Baby, why are you so cute… I was just teasing you, didn’t you know?” He then kissed his earlobe, saying, “You were so tired last night; how could I bear to trouble you again.”

Wen Yan: “…”

He realized belatedly that he seemed to have been teased by the man.

After establishing their relationship, the man no longer maintained a distant and aloof demeanor in front of him. He became more talkative and enjoyed teasing him.

Upon reflection, he found that he quite liked this change.

Some people only relax in front of those they are close to.

Perhaps the man considered him the closest person.

Snuggling together, the car entered the city center and unexpectedly stopped in front of Taosha.

Even during the daytime, Taosha looked magnificent, with a row of galloping white horses in front and fountains gushing ceaselessly.

Wen Xueli led Wen Yan out of the car and walked in.

The manager was the same as last time, probably affiliated with the Zhou family. He respectfully led Wen Xueli to the private elevator.

Guided to the top floor’s leftmost private room, the manager opened the door, exchanged a few words with Wen Xueli, and then left.

Inside the private room, there were about ten people, all young and of both genders, as seen at a glance.

Upon seeing Wen Xueli, everyone stood up together.

Among all these people, Wen Yan only knew Tang Ji.

Tang Ji greeted him with a smile.

He responded with a smile as well.

Then a young man approached, calling out, “Big brother, sister-in-law, you’re here.”

… Sister-in-law?

Was he referring to him?

Wen Yan was dumbfounded.

Wen Xueli ruffled his hair, leading him inside.

Wen Yan could tell that everyone, including Tang Ji, showed great respect in front of Wen Xueli.

Wen Yan wasn’t sure who these people were. Since Wen Xueli didn’t introduce them, he didn’t want to ask too much.

The young man from earlier spoke with a smile, “Hello, sister-in-law, I’m Wen Xueyi.”

The name was similar to Wen Xueli’s, and calling him sister-in-law, he must be Wen Xueli’s cousin.

He glanced at Wen Xueli.

Wen Xueli confirmed his guess, saying, “He’s working with me now.”

Wen Yan immediately recalled that Wen Xueli had mentioned handing over the Wen family to a cousin. This should be Wen Xueyi.

Next, Wen Xueyi introduced the other people in the private room.

At first, Wen Yan found these people’s names somewhat familiar, and gradually, he began to recognize them.

These individuals were all scions of prominent families in Hongcheng, with powerful family backgrounds. Two of them had even trended on Weibo.

It was said that these families had migrated from the mainland to Hongcheng, and they had deep-rooted influence.

So, was this gathering today a meeting of several elite families in Hongcheng?

No wonder Tang Ji was also present.

Wen Xueli led him to his seat and introduced him, “This is my wife; please take care of her in the future.”

Others promptly addressed him as sister-in-law, displaying great respect.

But the atmosphere was just too bizarre—so much so that Wen Yan thought he was in a TV drama.

He wasn’t foolish. He could somewhat guess that the man was solemnly introducing him to his friends, presenting him to his circle.

He initially thought that today, the man took him out for a simple meal and perhaps a casual meeting, but he hadn’t expected it to be such a significant occasion.

Unfortunately, the man hadn’t revealed anything beforehand.

He couldn’t help feeling a bit nervous.

Wen Xueli held his hand tightly and said to everyone, “Alright, let’s disperse. Do whatever you want.”

Wen Yan then noticed that this was a suite. Inside one of the rooms, there was a long rectangular card table with a card game set up, poker cards face down on the green surface.

Presumably, to welcome them, these people had stopped playing cards.

Some continued playing inside the room, while others held tea cups and chatted by the floor-to-ceiling windows.

In the living room, only Wen Xueli and Wen Yan remained.

In the short time they had been here, Wen Yan felt as though he had gone through a dream and was momentarily unsure how to speak.

Wen Xueli smiled, pinching his face, and said in a leisurely manner, “Let’s meet my friends first. After we get engaged, I’ll take you to meet the elders in my family.”

“Enga… engaged?” Wen Yan almost bit his tongue.

They had just started dating, and he was even afraid that the man might leave him one day. Yet, the man was already considering engagement?

The man poured him a cup of tea, handed it to him, and raised an eyebrow playfully, “What’s wrong? Don’t want to?”

Wen Yan immediately shook his head.

How could he not want to? It was just too sudden, making it hard for him to react.

Wen Xueli smiled, “No rush, at least wait until you’re on winter break to come to Hongcheng.”

Wen Yan took a sip of the warm and sweet tea, listening to the man discuss the winter break plans.

When he returned to Hongcheng during the break, the plan was to first pay respects to Grandpa Wen, meet with the Wen family, and then set a date for the engagement banquet.

Wen Yan listened quietly.

It seemed that everything became simple when spoken by the man, even getting engaged and meeting the parents were remarkably easy tasks.

His heart suddenly felt calm.

Before, he might have been a little afraid of the gap between him and the man. However, listening to the man’s plans at this moment, he suddenly felt that he and the man would grow old together.

While they were talking, someone from the elite families approached Wen Xueli to discuss something.

The person smiled at Wen Yan, “Sister-in-law, may I borrow Xueli for a few minutes?”

The tone was somewhat teasing but very polite.

Wen Yan smiled awkwardly and nodded.

Wen Xueli patted his head and followed.

A few seconds later, Wen Xueyi came over to talk to him, holding a steaming cup of green tea.

During the summer break in Hongcheng, Wen Yan had stayed in Wen Xueli’s villa and had not met anyone from the Wen family. Wen Xueyi was the first member of the Wen family he encountered.

Seeing Wen Yan looking at his cup, Wen Xueyi lowered his head and laughed, “Big brother said you’re still young, so we’re not allowed to smoke or drink in front of you.”

So they all switched to drinking tea?

No wonder the room was filled with the fragrance of tea.

Wen Yan couldn’t help but look at Wen Xueli standing by the French window.

The man was tall and upright, bathed in the bright sunlight, making him look dazzling.

A sweet feeling welled up in Wen Yan’s heart, and he was reluctant to look away.

Wen Xueyi chatted casually with him, “Big brother’s name is taken from the Book of Rites, and my name is taken from the Book of Changes. We have a few other younger cousins, and their names are all taken from the Four Books and Five Classics.”

Wen Yan turned his gaze to him.

Wen Xueyi smiled and said, “When Grandpa was still around, he praised Big Brother, saying he had the potential to be a great general who could open up new territories. The Wen family will surely thrive under his leadership.”

In Wen Yan’s heart, Wen Xueli was undoubtedly the most formidable, and he nodded in agreement.

Wen Xueyi looked at him and sighed suddenly, saying, “But this time, when big brother returned to Hongcheng, he suddenly made a decision to pass on the position of family head to me.”

Somehow, Wen Yan had a not-so-good premonition, already guessing what the other party was going to say next.

As expected, Wen Xueyi lowered his voice and said, “The elders in the family insisted that Big Brother marry a well-connected young lady from an elite family. Big brother refused, so the elders asked him to voluntarily give up the position of family head.” He suddenly stared at Wen Yan and said, “Big brother agreed without hesitation.”
