This is a short chapter.
Fang Cheng had been single for 25 years and knew nothing about relationships. However, it was clear that Qi Feng and Pei Yan’s interactions were not purely utilitarian. Their relationship seemed casual yet natural as if they had known each other for a long time.
When Donghai was selecting a spokesperson, and Su Qiao suddenly appeared, Qi Feng was visibly unhappy despite not saying anything. If Qi Feng did not have feelings for Pei Yan, why would he care about Pei Yan’s old classmate from years ago?
Qi Feng’s parents had passed away, and he was alone.
Fang Cheng also hoped Qi Feng could find a man he liked and who was reliable to spend his life steadily with.
Pei Yan was the best candidate.
Fang Cheng hurried home like a worried mother, calling out “Xiao Feng” as soon as he entered.
Qi Feng stood on the balcony, calmly pruning some vibrant orchids. Without looking up, he asked, “Did he leave?”
“He should have left,” Fang Cheng replied. Holding a heavy bouquet of red roses, he continued, “But Mr. Pei told me to tell you that your relationship really should end.”
He held out the flowers, “But Mr. Pei also said he would pursue you again as an admirer until you like him and then start a new relationship with you.”
The bouquet of roses blooming like fire dyed the cold and dark balcony red, lighting up the astonishment and confusion on the boy’s face. It also revealed the entanglement and helplessness in Qi Feng’s eyes.
Fang Cheng whispered: “Xiao Feng, don’t overthink it. Just follow your heart and do what you want. You are both still young, so just let nature take its course.”
Let nature take its course?
If only it were that easy.
Qi Feng looked away from the bouquet with a sigh. “Find a bigger vase for these.”

Pei Yan did not leave directly. From where he sat parked, he could look up and see the window of Qi Feng’s bedroom. He remained sitting in the car, occasionally glancing up at the window. He also took care of one matter.
Fang Cheng said Su Qiao wanted to threaten Qi Feng by exposing their relationship.
Pei Yan sneered: How dare he.
What exactly was Su Qiao’s goal? To win his affection? Impossible! Pei Yan sensed there was a deeper, unseen conspiracy at work that he could not grasp.
This made him revisit a question he had previously ignored. How did Su Qiao and Cheng Yu know about his and Qi Feng’s relationship?
Did Song Zhe tell Cheng Yu? Unlikely.
Although unreliable, Song Zhe was discreet.
Also, why did Cheng Yu return to China now and join the advertising department? Because of Qi Feng? But why?
As Pei Yan pondered these minor questions and connected them to Qi Feng, Donghai Investments, Cheng Yu, and Su Qiao, he could not find the key link.
Suddenly, he recalled Song Zhe calling out to him as he walked from the parking garage to the elevator, seeming to say someone was in his parking area.
At the time, he only cared about getting home to Qi Feng and paid no attention. But now…
Pei Yan immediately called his secretary.
The community he lived in was the most expensive high-end community in City A. The people who lived in it were either rich or noble. Therefore, it has the highest security and privacy. Even if they did, there were cameras everywhere, and no one would be stupid enough to get caught directly.
Therefore, after he moved in, he first checked the four surveillance corners around his exclusive parking lot and installed surveillance cameras at the four corners that were not easily discovered.
Pei Yan directly instructed his secretary to investigate the footage from his cameras.
Just then, a light turned on in a window upstairs, its soft glow leaking past the undrawn curtains. It was Qi Feng’s bedroom. Pei Yan’s heart jumped as he opened the car door and stepped out, gazing up at the window.
Soon, the silhouette of a slender boy appeared. Even from this distance, Pei Yan could see the composed strides and graceful movements. He held his breath, afraid to miss the moment Qi Feng saw him. As expected, the boy paused while drawing the curtains, and his body froze.
The lights in the neighborhood late at night were dim, unable to illuminate the distance between the two of them. But Pei Yan knew Qi Feng could see him, was looking at him. He stood up straight and looked at the figure with smiles and expectations in his eyes.
The boy slowly pulled the heavy curtains closed, the soft light disappearing bit by bit until Pei Yan could see nothing of the slender figure hidden within.
Pei Yan picked up his phone and saw a row of messages from him on the chat page between him and Qi Feng, each one more urgent than the last:
【Qi Feng, what happened? Why did you move away? 】
【You can go home but give me a reason for you to go home. 】
【I said that as long as I don’t agree, our relationship will not end. 】
【Qi Feng, answer the phone for me!!! 】
【I’m going to your house now, you’d better wait at your house. 】
…
Now calmer, he realized how impatient and arbitrary they were. No wonder Qi Feng disliked him.
Standing in the cold autumn wind, Pei Yan slowly typed a new message:
【The weather is cold, so cover yourself with a quilt when sleeping at night. 】
【Good night. 】
Pei Yan waited for a while but, as usual, received no reply.
With a sigh, he sat back in his car, ready to leave. Then his phone buzzed with a new text from Qi Feng.
Pei Yan stopped breathing and anxiously picked up the phone and opened it quickly.
Qi Feng: 【It’s late. You should go home. 】
Pei Yan was so surprised that he breathed rapidly. He held the phone with both hands and put it to his lips and kissed the message. Every cell in his body wanted to obey the boy’s words.
【Alright, I’m going home now. 】
At the same time, his secretary sent him some screenshots from the surveillance footage.
【President Pei, someone was indeed lurking around your parking area. 】
【It should be someone who has access to the community where you live and is familiar with the location of the underground parking lot. I will go investigate immediately. Please pay attention to your safety.】
The top-down angle did not show the man’s face, but Pei Yan instantly recognized Su Qiao. Cheng Yu had brought Su Qiao into the community.
Eyes cold and dark, Pei Yan thought: Whatever Cheng Yu and Su Qiao were scheming, he had to get rid of Su Qiao first. Only in this way can he prove to Qi Feng that he has nothing to do with Su Qiao.
He wanted to offer sacrifices to Qi Feng, and Su Qiao was the best sacrifice.
