Mo Qi threw her school bag onto the sofa, pulled at the collar of her clothes, and headed to the bathroom.
At the moment, there were some not-so-light injuries on her arms and face, especially at the corners of her mouth, where there was a bit of blood.
Today, she had something to attend to, so she left the campus early. Unexpectedly, as she passed by the alley, she overheard a group of troublemakers planning to target Su Yanxi. How could she let them off after hearing that?
So, she immediately dropped her school bag and confronted them.
In this area around the school, there were rarely any troublemakers. Usually, it was only Mo Qi’s group and the group from the neighboring school led by Qi Wei. However, the appearance of this unfamiliar group of troublemakers made her pensive.
She didn’t know what these troublemakers were doing here.
Thinking about the expressions of those people when they talked about Su Yanxi, Mo Qi cursed inwardly. Annoyed, she undressed and took a shower. While drying her hair with a towel, she called Hu Ying.
“Qi Ge, what’s up?” Hu Ying was lying on the bed reading a novel, and she seemed a bit lost when she received Mo Qi’s call.
Mo Qi poured a glass of water. “Did you see a group of troublemakers outside the school today?”
“Troublemakers?” Hu Ying asked in confusion, “Why would there be troublemakers around the school? In the past, if there were any, you’d have scared them away.”
Mo Qi, with a stern face, said, “How should I know? These people actually set their sights on Yanxi.”
“What the heck?!” Hu Ying jumped up from the bed. “How do they even know Little Cutie?”
“God knows,” Mo Qi, frustrated, pinched her nose. “Regardless, I have to deal with these people. I can’t let Yanxi find out.”
Hu Ying pounded her chest. “Qi Ge, I’m here to help you.”
Mo Qi nodded. “Good.”
The next day after the evening self-study, as Mo Qi and her two companions left the school, they spotted a few people lurking in a corner. Mo Qi squinted her eyes and, upon closer inspection, recognized them as the troublemakers from yesterday. She gestured to Hu Ying and spoke quietly. Hu Ying immediately nodded and pulled Su Yanxi aside.
“What’s going on?” Su Yanxi blinked her eyes, watching the group surrounding Mo Qi with a formidable momentum. A sense of foreboding crept over her. Clutching her school bag tightly, she anxiously asked, “Hu Ying, what’s happening? Who are these people?”
Hu Ying shielded her and said, “Troublemakers, not from around here.”
Su Yanxi, becoming even more nervous, felt her legs shaking slightly. Looking at Mo Qi, surrounded in the middle, she became teary-eyed with fear.
“Who instructed you to come?” Mo Qi looked at them unfazed.
The individuals exchanged glances and then burst into laughter, saying, “No one instructed us.”
“Then how do you know her?” Mo Qi squinted her eyes, lifting her chin, pointing in the direction of Su Yanxi.
The troublemakers followed her gaze and saw a cute little girl, who was now on the verge of tears, looking frightened. The leader said, “Didn’t we hear that she’s cute, so we came?”
Mo Qi didn’t hesitate and delivered a swift kick to the person’s stomach. The others immediately closed in to attack her, but she didn’t evade. Instead, she reached out, grabbed one person’s arm, and threw them backward, causing them to fall to the ground.
The entire scene became intense. Hu Ying pulled Su Yanxi away, step by step, watching as Mo Qi seemed to be at a disadvantage. Hu Ying said to Su Yanxi, “Wait here. I’ll go help Qi Ge.”
“Okay, okay.” Su Yanxi obediently nodded, but her gaze remained tightly fixed on Mo Qi, visibly anxious.
Seeing Hu Ying coming, Mo Qi breathed a sigh of relief but still worried about the girl. Glancing quickly to make sure Su Yanxi was okay, she bit her lip, suppressing the pain, and focused on dealing with the troublemakers.
At that moment, someone approached with a brick in hand. Su Yanxi, seeing it from a distance, screamed, “Watch out!”
Next, Mo Qi found herself being tackled to the ground, followed by a muffled groan from behind.
“Little Cutie!” Hu Ying saw Qi Ge being tackled by Su Yanxi and witnessed one of the troublemakers wielding a brick smashing it onto her shoulder. She hurried over in shock.
Hearing Hu Ying’s shout, Mo Qi realized that the person on her back was Su Yanxi. Concerned, she turned around and looked at her. “What’s wrong?”
Her gaze then landed on the person still holding the brick.
“You take care of her first,” Mo Qi placed Su Yanxi in Hu Ying’s arms and stood up. She removed her jacket and engaged in another fight with the remaining troublemakers. This time, she was ruthless, as if driven by madness.
Seeing Mo Qi’s fierce reaction, the troublemakers began to falter. When they noticed two people approaching from the alley entrance, Qi Wei and her girlfriend, the troublemakers immediately fled, disappearing in no time.
“What’s going on here?” Qi Wei and her girlfriend naturally came to the scene.
Seeing this, Hu Ying pursed her lips and nervously looked at Su Yanxi in her arms.
Mo Qi breathed heavily, her eyes red, and she crouched down to gently take Su Yanxi from Hu Ying’s arms. She asked softly, “Does it hurt?”
Su Yanxi felt her arm numb, not feeling any pain at all. She shook her head, and her gaze landed on Mo Qi. Seeing all the injuries on her face and even on her arms, she couldn’t help but feel distressed. Tears welled up in her eyes uncontrollably.
Thinking that Su Yanxi was still in pain, Mo Qi immediately hugged her and walked towards the nearby hospital. As for Qi Wei and her girlfriend, they were completely ignored.
Qi Wei stared wide-eyed, unable to believe what she was witnessing. She muttered a curse under her breath.
At the same time, she failed to notice her girlfriend’s gaze, which had been fixed on Mo Qi since the beginning.
At the hospital, the three of them naturally received a scolding from the doctor. Despite their young age, they engaged in a fight, resulting in numerous injuries.
Due to concern for Su Yanxi’s injuries, Mo Qi obediently listened to the doctor’s lecture. Although the doctor kept on talking, the bandaging actions were deft and skillful.
“Fortunately, the clothes you’re wearing are thick right now, so there are no bone injuries. Rest for a few days, and you’ll be fine. If it were summer, your arm would have been seriously injured by now,” the female doctor said as she finished bandaging Su Yanxi’s arm.
Upon hearing this, Mo Qi anxiously looked at Su Yanxi’s arm. Full of remorse and guilt, she didn’t pay much attention to the doctor’s words.
Su Yanxi, however, ignored Mo Qi’s concern and quickly pushed her towards the doctor, urgently saying, “Doctor, please check her too.”
The female doctor had already seen all the injuries on Mo Qi but seeing how the girl was entirely focused on worrying about the cute girl, she didn’t say much. At this moment, she examined the injuries on Mo Qi’s body.
When they left the hospital, it was already past eleven, and there were only a few pedestrians on the road.
“Let’s go back,” Mo Qi said, carrying her backpack and holding Su Yanxi’s school bag. When Su Yanxi tried to take it back, Mo Qi refused, saying, “I’ll carry it. Your shoulder is injured.” She looked full of regret and apology.
In an attempt to alleviate Mo Qi’s guilt, Su Yanxi didn’t insist any longer.
