ALHM Chapter 38

He joined the program to enhance his relationship with Wen jueli. If he doesn’t do anything, why did he even bother to come here?

Of course, he should make the most of this opportunity.

Turning on the projector, Yan Qing set up the two small tents borrowed from David in the open space and placed some resting chairs.

At nine o’clock, on a summer evening with twinkling stars, the trees rustled, and the night breeze made it even more pleasant.

After doing all this, Yan Qing had just settled into the chair when he saw the figure he had been longing for approaching. He stood up and waved, “Husband, over here!”

Wenjueli’s lips pursed slightly, and he couldn’t help but quicken his pace.

To be honest, he didn’t know what Yan Qing had in mind, but he knew that ever since their secretive conversation with Gu Siwei last night, he had been out of sorts all day, often bursting into silly laughter for no apparent reason.

Wenjueli wasn’t really in the mood for playing around either. Occasionally, he wondered why Yan Qing was so happy. What was making him so joyful?

In the evening, Yan Qing received an invitation, and it turned out to be for watching a movie.

Yan Qing’s gaze remained on Wenjueli from beginning to end. When he noticed the slight upward curve of Wenjueli’s lips, he was confident that watching the movie tonight would create a beautiful memory.

Even though they lived every day to create beautiful memories for tomorrow.

Imagining some small theaters in his mind, Yan Qing collected his thoughts and asked, “Do you want some chips?”

Wenjueli replied, “No, you can have them.”

It happened to be a single-serving movie, and Yan Qing said, “Hehe, should I start the movie?”

Wenjueli said, “Sure.”

With a press of the remote control, the screen, along with the surrounding lights, instantly dimmed, and a few seconds later, a series of eerie and unstable scenes began to play.

Wenjueli asked, “What movie are we watching?”

“La la la la~~”

The nursery rhyme sung by the background girl in the movie started playing just at the right time, adding a touch of eeriness to the already dim environment.

Yan Qing raised an eyebrow, as if to say, ‘Are you scared?’

He intentionally moved the two benches closer so that he could provide a warm embrace when Wenjueli got scared by the ghosts in the movie!

Yan Qing chuckled and said, “It’s called ‘Why Did my Door Open Again.’ Can you guess the theme?”

Wenjueli replied, “A horror movie?”

Yan Qing said, “Yes, it’s quite an obscure film. When I was looking for it, I was even warned that it’s not suitable for those under eighteen. If you’re scared, you can tell me…”

Wenjueli turned back and said, “Alright.”

Yan Qing: “…”

As the movie started, Yan Qing stopped talking and focused his attention on the movie screen. Although he had chosen the movie, he hadn’t seen it before.

At first, Yan Qing could still keep an eye on Wenjueli, watching his subtle reactions, trying to guess when to offer comfort to the frightened Wenjueli. However, he soon noticed that Wenjueli remained as still as a statue, maintaining the same posture without blinking for a whole ten minutes. Yan Qing gave up his attempts.

Better to just watch the movie…

The flickering images, eerie shadows, and chilling music set the perfect atmosphere for a horror movie. The storyline and artistic quality of the film exceeded Yan Qing’s expectations. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from the screen throughout the entire movie. He slowly fed himself potato chips with snail-like speed, not daring to take his eyes off the screen, as if a monster might crawl out at any moment.

Unbeknownst to him, the starry sky above was gradually obscured by drifting clouds, dimming the light. Yan Qing’s hands tightened around his chest, and he stared unblinkingly at the movie, following the protagonist’s gaze.

“Ahhhhh!”

The sudden scream of a ghost in the movie startled Yan Qing, nearly causing him to leap out of his seat. Wenjueli, with a slight movement of his gaze, looked at him.

Feeling embarrassed by the attention, Yan Qing stammered, “I’m… I’m fine… My blood circulation is just a bit off, and my legs went numb. I just need to move a bit.”

Wenjueli replied, “Alright.”

When in a highly tense state, people are more easily scared. Just as Yan Qing adjusted his sitting position, thinking there wouldn’t be any intense scenes for a while, a ghostly face suddenly appeared on the screen, catching him completely off guard.

In that split second, without thinking, Yan Qing dove into the arms of the person nearest to him.

Crash—

The few remaining potato chips in his lap scattered all over.

Wenjueli’s body stiffened.

In his arms, there was now another person – a slender young man curled up in his embrace, partially covered by a small blanket to shield his face.

His clear and beautiful eyes resembled some kind of inorganic gem, reflecting the light and shadows from the big screen. His long and thick eyelashes quivered ever so slightly. His expression was a mix of tension, seriousness, and curiosity. He seemed both scared to the bone and unable to look away, like a scaredy-cat who loved watching scary movies.

They had long exceeded the boundaries of normal social distance. Wenjueli naturally caught a faint scent of rose fragrance on him, not overly heavy, but just right.

Yan Qing’s thoughts were completely absorbed by the movie, and he paid no attention to the scene of himself snuggled in Wenjueli’s arms. It was completely different from what he had daydreamed about beforehand, but he didn’t feel that their current intimacy was out of place either.

Yan Qing wrapped his arms around Wenjueli’s, gripping them tightly like a lifeline for a sense of security. Meanwhile, the owner of those arms lowered his gaze, his expression a mixture of real and feigned emotions in the dim lighting.

Wenjueli silently consented, letting Yan Qing hold him. It wasn’t until the entire movie ended that he felt the discomfort of his arms having gone numb.

Casually, he asked, “Was the movie good?”

Yan Qing, with a hand that he had pulled back, rubbed the back of his head and said, “Haha, of course, it was great! How about you? Did you find it good too?”

As he said this, he felt a bit self-conscious.

Unfortunately, due to someone holding onto his hand the entire time, Wenjueli hadn’t paid any attention to the movie…

After a moment of contemplation, he added, “I quite liked the first half.”

He hadn’t really paid much attention to the second half.

“Haha, as long as you liked it…”

After saying that, Wenjueli didn’t continue the conversation, and there was a moment of silence, an eerie stillness.

The vast sky was shrouded in thick clouds, without a hint of daylight, and the surrounding area was open grassland. Every rustle caused by the wind in the grass could be heard crystal clear.

In his mind, he was replaying various terrifying scenarios from time-traveling infinite flow novels. Wenjueli stood up and asked, “Now that the movie is over, I see you’ve set up the tents. Are we sleeping outside tonight?”

Yan Qing quickly raised his head and stammered, “No, no, no!”

Wenjueli raised an eyebrow curiously, “Hmm?”

Yan Qing mumbled, hesitating to admit that he was scared, especially since he had chosen the movie. He just couldn’t sleep outside. Who knew what could happen in the wilderness.

As the night grew deeper, the distant mountain ranges were shrouded in a hazy and pitch-black darkness. Only the small area illuminated by the screen’s glow stood defiant in the darkness.

The wind blew, creating an eerie whispering sound.

Yan Qing’s hair stood on end in an instant from the scare. He was still thinking about the movie’s plot and, following the principle of “The one who’s alone is bound to have a bad time,” he shook his head, “No, no, there’s no need. There aren’t many stars tonight, and it might rain. Let’s go back inside…”

Wenjueli pretended to ponder for a moment and nodded, “Alright.”

Yan Qing breathed a sigh of relief, hoping to get back to the room and hide under the covers as soon as possible.

Yan Qing asked, “Should we just leave our things here?”

Wenjueli replied, “Yes. The staff will come to take care of it.”

Yan Qing said, “Oh…”

But he didn’t see his director or any other staff around.

There weren’t many staff members left when the movie started, and they often stayed out of sight during shooting to avoid interfering with the guests. The visibility here was extremely low, and in the pitch darkness, he couldn’t find anyone other than himself and Wenjueli…

Could it be…

Could it be… they were now in a parallel universe?

“What are you thinking about?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Yan Qing felt a large hand grabbing his hand directly, gently closing their fingers together. Wenjueli’s fingers were slender and attractive, but due to his tall stature, his hand bones were naturally thicker than Yan Qing, giving a sense of security when their hands touched.

Wenjueli gently said, “It’s very late. You have plans to do what you enjoy tomorrow. Let’s go back and get some sleep.”

“Alright…”

Yan Qing’s emotions instantly transformed into a kite that had been reeled back in, every bit of it held in Wenjueli’s hand. He no longer let his mind wander aimlessly.

In the distance, the Mongolian yurts emitted a faint glow in the dark.

Following Wenjueli, he felt safe enough, but once the lights were turned off and they each went to their own beds, the room fell into complete silence. Yan Qing’s mind couldn’t help but wonder uncontrollably.

He stares with wide eyes at the yurt’s interior, utilizing the faint and subtle light in the air. Not only did he see the raised blanket as an animal’s head, but he also mistook the clothes hanging on the wall for people… it was a surreal scene.

But these things were nothing compared to the horror of tonight’s failure!

Realizing this, Yan Qing clenched his fists. He felt frustrated. How could things go so differently from what they had planned? Not only did Wenjueli not get scared, he didn’t even blink, and in the end, Yan Qing was the one who got terrified… It had nothing to do with the plot he had designed to comfort Wenjueli and bring them closer.

Yan Qing encouraged himself, telling himself it’s okay. The tides will turn. Tomorrow, he’ll capture Wenjueli’s heart!

Morning came.

As Wenjueli woke up, he saw Yan Qing lying quietly next to him, staring at the ceiling with his big eyes. After about three seconds, Yan Qing slowly moved over to Wenjueli.

“…Good morning,” Wenjueli said as he observed Yan Qing’s horrendous dark circles under his eyes, opened his mouth, and finally just said, “Good morning.”

It wasn’t good at all. Yan Qing managed a weak smile.

Forget a good morning. He hadn’t had a good night’s sleep at all. Out of eight hours of sleep, he had spent seven hours playing in a nightmare…

Without the need for many words, Wenjueli understood that Yan Qing hadn’t slept well last night and found a reason for him to stay in bed all day.

[Hahaha, were you scared all night?]

[Don’t say it, that movie did have something to it… I came here to watch handsome guys and beautiful girls falling in love, I don’t know why I ended up watching it.]

[Haha, Yan Qing, learn your lesson, don’t try to be too clever next time!]

[Does anyone remember the name of the movie Yan Qing picked yesterday? I came in halfway, and it was really intriguing… I want to watch it again.]

[Hey, sister, it seems like that movie is trending. You should check it out.]

In reality, nobody, especially Yan Qing, expected this turn of events. Last night, due to the intense and terrifying expressions he displayed on camera, curious viewers wanted to find out what kind of movie it was. In just a few hours, the movie started trending.

#Yan Qing Got Scared by the Movie#

#What’s the Name of That Movie?#

The discussion quickly climbed up the charts on an otherwise ordinary weekend topic list.

The movie itself had its merits, and with Yan Qing’s endorsement, it drew attention from a wider audience, revealing this hidden gem to the world.

Overnight, the film gained a lot of attention and received glowing reviews. The director was pleasantly surprised and took to Weibo with bilingual thanks to Yan Qing, expressing the hope for future collaborations.

Netizens’ comments were full of humor:

[Haha, Yan Qing is so easily frightened, imagine him in a horror film!]

[If Yan Qing plays a ghost in the future, I’ll be the first to watch! A handsome ghost, hehehe~]

[I heard that Yan Qing’s first TV drama has been gathering dust for several years, and it’s about to be released. Can’t wait!]

A few days later, their trip in England came to an end. On the first day, they had prepared their luggage, and in the morning, they loaded it onto the vehicle.

Today was their last day in England, and they enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Eileen.

Meeting friends from all over the world was a rare and delightful experience. They had a great time during these days. Everyone bid a heartfelt farewell to David and Eileen and got on the vehicle headed for the airport.

According to the itinerary, their next destination was a small city in southwest France.

The location was slightly remote, so they had to take two connecting flights.

Gu Siwei distributed the remaining funds to all the guests for their own calculations. Whether it was the extravagant spender Xia Xingchen or Yan Qing, thanks to the help of Eileen and David, their available funds were substantial, to the point of being surplus.

The good news didn’t end there. Wen jueli received a call from the airport staff in China saying that their luggage had been found and retrieved by Kan Hai.

As long as it wasn’t lost, Yan Qing didn’t mind roughing it a bit during the upcoming travel through three countries. After all, he was determined to accompany Wen jueli and make up for the time when he had neglected him.

Wen jueli sometimes didn’t understand why Yan Qing was in a good mood for no apparent reason. He curiously asked, “Why are you smiling?”

Yan Qing’s lips curled upward, and he even blinked his eyes, making his eyes sparkle. “Because I’m with you.”

Wenjueli was momentarily taken aback, lowered his head, and a hint of red only covered the tips of his ears.

The plane landed at noon.

The hotel here was far superior to the one in England in terms of both environment and cost. They had just moved their luggage into the bedroom, and it was already 4 p.m.

However, after the long journey, most people chose to rest in their rooms. Yan Qing, on the other hand, picked up his Polaroid camera and regular camera, preparing to go out.

Seeing that Wenjueli was also quite tired, Yan Qing tentatively asked in a soft voice, “Husband, can I go out?”

Why are you asking me? Wenjueli’s thoughts were a bit complicated, but he still nodded and said, “Sure.”

After a moment, he added, “Come back early in the evening, I’ll cook, can you help me?”

As soon as he heard that Wenjueli was going to cook and that he could help, Yan Qing’s eyes lit up. “Of course! I’ll definitely come back early! Muah muah muah!”

After the others had left, a few minutes passed before Wenjueli stood by the window, watching Yan Qing’s small figure bouncing between the buildings as it gradually disappeared.

On the way here, Yan Qing had been captivated by the beautiful scenery of this city.

The clock tower, magnificent statues and architecture, and numerous lesser-known historical and cultural sites were scattered throughout.

In the evening, the vast sky, with its swirling clouds, resembled the layers of stalactites in a cave surrounding a mysterious, radiant lake of sunlight.

Standing in the sunlight, Yan Qing’s soft hair was sprinkled with a golden-white hue. As he played with his camera, he looked up and exclaimed, “It seems like you can’t capture this beauty with a camera… I must see it with my own eyes.”

Yan Qing had scouted the area around the hotel in advance, and suddenly, a joyful voice appeared in his ear, “Yan Qing!! Is it really you?!”

Yan Qing looked puzzled.

A young girl with a cute and delicate appearance, who seemed quite young, ran up to him. She was out of breath, but her eyes were shining brightly. “You’re really Yan Qing!”

Yan Qing was still unsure, “You are?”

“I’m your fan!”

Yan Qing felt a bit dazed by her words.

A fan?

He knew that at the age of 23, he was now an actor. There had been a few fans who came to greet him at the Chinese airport in the past, which had given him a sense of amazement and joy. However, after these few days, he had almost forgotten about it. Now, as he looked at the fan who was delighted to meet him, he had a surreal feeling of disbelief.

[Help! I actually ran into Yan Qing!]

[I envy that girl so much!!!]

[Is it too late for me to book a flight?!]

[Hahaha, stay calm, the program team said we can’t follow them as private fans. Let’s just enjoy the show.]

The joy made her speak in a somewhat fragmented manner, “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it’s you. You look even better in person than on the livestream!”

“I was watching your livestream just yesterday, and I didn’t expect that you guys would be here today! The program team really knows how to pick places… Haha, I’m so lucky. Are you still livestreaming now?”

Yan Qing was infected by her enthusiasm and couldn’t help but laugh, saying, “Yes, we’re still livestreaming.”

The girl exclaimed, “So, does this mean I’m on TV?! Many of my friends really like you, Yan Qing.”

With someone showering him with compliments in person like this, Yan Qing was starting to feel a bit embarrassed.

The girl asked eagerly, “Yan Qing, are you going to meet up with the others now?”

Yan Qing replied, “Oh no, the others are resting at the hotel. I just wanted to go for a walk by myself.”

The girl slapped her forehead and said, “Do you want me to recommend a place for you?”

Yan Qing asked, “Hm?”

She smiled and shook the bag in her hand, found a spot on the sidewalk, placed the contents of the bag on it, and showed it to Yan Qing.

“This! Cheesecake tart, although our city has many medieval buildings that are well-preserved to this day, there aren’t many interesting places. However, this bakery’s cheesecake tart is incredibly delicious. It’s right in the city center, super delicious!”

Yan Qing was instantly drawn in, “This cake looks really good.”

“Of course, I wasn’t planning to go out, but I came out just for this.” The girl enthusiastically recommended the bakery. She was about to suggest taking Yan Qing to buy it since he was new to France and not familiar with the area, but then her phone rang. It was a call from her family.

On the phone, her family asked her to come back home quickly.

The girl, looking a bit like a disappointed radish, hesitated for a while and tried to negotiate. However, in the end, she gave up her struggle and returned home, as her parents had issued a final ultimatum for her to come back quickly.

Yan Qing said, “It’s normal for your uncle and aunt to be concerned about your safety, and I apologize for keeping you from going home.”

The young man had smooth and blemish-free skin, and under the setting sun, he appeared almost flawless. With those clear eyes and a polite tone, the girl’s maternal instincts were instantly awakened.

Yan Qing is really adorable!

The girl said, “But that path is a bit tricky. How about waiting for me to come back, and I’ll secretly take you there?”

Yan Qing sighed and chuckled, “No need, thank you. I’ll go there by myself. Thanks for recommending this shop to me. Goodbye!”

He happened to have some cash on him. The moment the girl took out the cake box, he was actually tempted to try it, but he wanted to maintain some restraint, especially in front of a fan. However, once the girl left, he headed towards the bakery, following the directions she had given him earlier.

Time passed gradually as the sun shifted in the sky.

The address of the bakery was a bit complicated, and combined with Yan Qing’s mild directional impairment, he still hadn’t found his way there after some time.

But how could such a small difficulty deter him?

Yan Qing relied on his memory and intuition to find his way while attempting to use his rudimentary French, which he had been learning for a month, to ask for directions. Through trial and error, he unexpectedly managed to locate the locally renowned old bakery.

It was situated inconspicuously in a small alley, with a vintage facade that, at a cursory glance, could be mistaken for a tailor’s shop. As he approached the window, he could see rows of exquisitely styled pastries on display.

Being a century-old establishment, the bakery was bustling with customers. Yan Qing had just stepped inside when he noticed people still waiting in line. He had no choice but to join the queue, attracting curious glances from passersby.

Before he reached the counter, a sudden thunderclap echoed.

Yan Qing raised his gaze to look outside and noticed that the light had dimmed considerably, even the once fiery sunset had lost its vibrant colors.

He was considering if it might rain when he saw the cameraman following him quietly asking the director for a raincoat.

Yan Qing hadn’t brought an umbrella, and it was about a fifteen-minute walk to the hotel. He was hoping that he could make it back without getting drenched halfway. However, the line was getting closer, and he thought, “Maybe I’ll just wait to buy the cake.”

So, when Yan Qing finished buying the cake, there was a thunderstorm outside, with strong winds and heavy rain.

A thoughtful staff member warned him that it was a thunderstorm, and the weather forecast predicted it would continue for the night.

Yan Qing: I can see that.

He silently shed a tear.

The weather changed so suddenly.

With the outside sky getting darker and more ominous, Yan Qing pondered how he was going to get back. He looked at the cameraman with hopeful eyes and asked, “Are you sure you don’t have any umbrellas?”

The cameraman hesitated and slowly shook his head as if to say, “Give it up, acting cute won’t work.”

Yan Qing: QAQ

Ten minutes later.

The rain outside continued relentlessly, occasionally punctuated by flashes of lightning like a giant beast stalking its prey.

Gazing at the rain outside, Yan Qing felt regret. If he hadn’t been so greedy, or if he hadn’t been careless enough to lose his luggage at the airport, which contained several raincoats and umbrellas, he wouldn’t be stuck at the bakery, unable to return to the hotel.

Viewers in the live chat room also expressed their complaints:

【The production team is heartless. They didn’t even remind them about the lost luggage, and now, with such heavy rain, they can’t even ensure the safety of the guests?】

【What about that girl from before? I wonder if she’s in the live chat room. Maybe she could go and find Yan Qing!】

The camera crew not lending an umbrella to Yan Qing was based on the rules of the show. They could only rely on the guests themselves unless it was absolutely necessary, and Yan Qing understood that, so he didn’t want to trouble the camera crew.

He stood alone, looking outside through the glass door, observing the flashes of lightning.

His silhouette seemed like a lonely abandoned kitten.

The director and the cameraman couldn’t bear to watch, especially considering he was still just a novice.

Seeing that the bakery was about to close, the night grew darker and stormier.

Xia Xingchen closed the French windows, shutting out the raging wind and rain outside, and the room instantly fell silent.

“How did the rain get so heavy while I was asleep? It was so sunny earlier,” Xia Xingchen said. He turned around, suddenly remembering something. “By the way, where’s Yan Qing? I haven’t seen him.”

He Zijia, who was sitting on the couch and not saying much, raised an eyebrow slowly. “I saw him going out to have some fun, about two or three hours ago.”

Xia Xingchen: “Ah? Two or three hours ago… Wait, the rain is so heavy now. Why hasn’t he returned yet? Both of his phones are in the hotel, and he didn’t take them. Could he be lost?”

Sang Ning: “What should we do? Should we contact the production team?”

Gu Siwei: “Jueli, where are you going?”

No one had noticed that Wen Jueli had changed into dry clothes and appeared ready to go out. He said, “I’m going out to find Yan Qing.”

Lingchen immediately stood up from the couch and said, “I’ll go with you.”

Perhaps realizing something, he added, “It’s pouring rain outside, and it’s not safe for you to go alone.”

Wen Jueli hesitated, dressed in a raincoat and standing by the open door. His expression was somewhat unclear. “No need. I’ll go alone, and I’ll be back soon.”

As soon as the words were spoken, Wen Jueli left and disappeared into the stormy night. No one knew whether he would be able to find Yan Qing.

At this moment, Yan Qing was navigating through the pouring rain.

Just ten minutes ago, Yan Qing had taken shelter from the rain in the kind baker’s shop. He had initially thought that the rain would intensify, leaving him homeless for the night. However, it turned out that the rain had lessened to a drizzle. Yan Qing observed for a while and, noticing that the rain hadn’t intensified, decided to give his camera and cake to the production team, planning to run back quickly while the rain was still light.

But to his surprise, as he was halfway there, the heavy rain resumed.

Fortunately, there was a retractable sunshade umbrella at a nearby shop, so Yan Qing decided to take shelter under it. When he turned around, he realized that he had even lost his cameraman.

Ribbit.

Yan Qing looked over, only to find a frog.

“Tsk.”

Patter, patter, patter…

What was that sound? Yan Qing raised his head, and amidst the monotonous sound of rain, he faintly heard the footsteps splashing in puddles.

The area ten meters away remained pitch dark, with only a streetlight nearby emitting a faintly uneasy glow amid the torrential rain. Yan Qing was worried it might go out the next second, leaving him even more lonely and pitiful.

The footsteps sounded less loud, partially muffled by the continuous rain.

The next moment, Yan Qing saw a figure moving in the rain, dressed in a tall, black raincoat, holding an umbrella. Although the figure was not very clear, he could still make out that the person had an umbrella. Yan Qing wondered why the person hadn’t opened it.

Later, he suddenly noticed that the person seemed to be walking in his direction.

The orange streetlight emitted a faint light around, but when the light passed through the fine, seamless raindrops and fell on the man’s cheek, Yan Qing felt his vision clear up.

He abruptly stood up and exclaimed, “Jueli!”

Wen Jueli had walked through the rain, and although his raincoat was airtight, there were still a few glistening water droplets on his cheeks. Compared to Yan Qing, who had been drenched, he looked much better.

Wen Jueli stood under the streetlight, making it hard for people to see his expression. He simply asked in a deep voice, “Are you okay?”

Yan Qing chuckled, “I’m fine with you here.”

Sometimes, Wen Jueli really wondered if there was something carefree inside Yan Qing’s head. Why didn’t he stay in the shop? Why did he run outside and watch frogs?

Yan Qing was completely drenched, his dark hair sticking to his face, his lips appearing unhealthy pale due to the cold rain and poor lighting. Yet, he wore a cheerful smile, despite looking disheveled.

Wen Jueli had somehow brought a towel, which Yan Qing used to somewhat awkwardly dry his face.

Yan Qing, grateful to have survived the rain, continued to smile foolishly, “I’m lucky you came. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to get back. I’m not great with directions, you know?”

“…” The rain shelter was too small, and Wen Jueli stood outside. His gaze slightly darkened as he asked in a hoarse voice, “Why didn’t you go back with them?”

“They are part of the camera crew, right?” Yan Qing pondered for a moment and replied, “But they told me before that the production team can’t help the guests unless it’s a last resort.”

Wen Jueli retorted, “Isn’t this a last resort?”

Perhaps sensing something was amiss, Yan Qing whispered cunningly, “Husband, are you angry?”

Throughout the show, from the moment Yan Qing had called him “Husband” until now, Wen Jueli hadn’t directly responded. Finding it absurd or perhaps finding it dull and insincere, he took the towel from Yan Qing’s hand and carefully dried the wetness on his skin.

“…I’m indeed angry,” Wen Jueli confessed, “If I hadn’t found you, and you got lost, what would you have done?”

His fingertips occasionally brushed Yan Qing’s skin, like the interplay of two extreme temperatures. Wen Jueli felt that Yan Qing’s body temperature was too low.

Yan Qing instinctively quipped, “Cold noodles.”

Wen Jueli responded, “…”

Yan Qing immediately knelt and slid, saying, “I’m sorry, I was wrong.”

In Wen Jueli’s luggage, there were indeed two raincoats. However, his size was too large and not suitable for Yan Qing. If he had worn them, it would have looked like a child wearing an adult’s clothes. So, Wen Jueli had brought an umbrella instead.

After Wen Jueli had carefully tidied up Yan Qing, he opened the umbrella.

Yan Qing stood there, lost in thought.

Wen Jueli asked, “Do you want to bring the frog back with you?”

Yan Qing responded, “The frog has long gone home to sleep. How could I possibly kidnap it?”

Wen Jueli questioned, “?”

Yan Qing explained, “…”

“No, I meant, do you want to wear the raincoat while I hold the umbrella?” Wen Jueli clarified.

Yan Qing squinted playfully and raised an eyebrow, “Are you suggesting we fight for the raincoat? This is not what I meant! No wonder you’ve been married for a year and haven’t even made it to first base. So clueless.”

Yan Qing sighed inwardly and decided to feign a vulnerable appearance. He cleared his throat and said, “But, Husband, I’m really cold.”

Wen Jueli replied, “I’ve found the shortest route from here to the hotel. It’s only seven or eight minutes away.”

“But I don’t think I can endure that long,” Yan Qing blinked his eyes, trying to act cute, “I’m not like you, my Husband. You have such a warm body temperature… If you could take off half of your raincoat, hold me with one hand and make me feel your warmth, I would definitely feel so much warmer.”

After uttering this, Yan Qing couldn’t believe he said it, but in situations like this, one had to learn to be bold.

Five seconds later, Wen Jueli sternly refused, “No, either use the umbrella, or I’m leaving.”

“Okay, okay, I’ll use the umbrella.” Yan Qing couldn’t help but mutter, “I’m making the first move here, and you’re still so unresponsive. If you keep acting this way, I’ll be really sad.”

While muttering, Yan Qing was fully aware that these were meaningless complaints, hidden under the loud sound of the rain.

*Sneezing!*

Wen Jueli silently held the umbrella for him and raised it over Yan Qing. The umbrella was large enough to accommodate two adult men, yet Wen Jueli seemed to favor Yan Qing more, and it covered almost his entire body.

In the distance, two familiar figures approached.

The production team heaved a sigh of relief, especially Yan Qing’s camera crew. They were scared when they saw him trying to sprint back home in the rain. Thankfully, he returned safely.

But apart from Wen Jueli, Yan Qing’s complexion looked worse than a drenched chicken, and everyone didn’t dare to say anything.

As soon as Yan Qing returned to the hotel, he perked up, “So warm.”

“Warm!? We were all so worried about you!” Xia Xingchen sighed in relief, “You almost got lost. How about I buy you a leash next time, and you hold it in your hand.”

Yan Qing retorted, “I’m not a dog.”

Ni Li asked, “But Yan Qing, why did you go outside in such heavy rain for so long?”

Yan Qing was about to answer when Gu Siwei approached. He said, “You need to be more careful next time. By the way, Yan Qing, there are some issues with your flight ticket for next week. Do you still have a copy of your passport?”

Yan Qing replied, “I didn’t bring it.”

Gu Siwei said, “I’ll print a copy tomorrow. But what about your passport, do you have it with you?”

Yan Qing started searching but couldn’t find his passport, and he couldn’t accept this fact.

How could he have lost something again?
