SVWL Chapter 52.1

It was 6:00 pm when Shao Ming received the message from the staff, and it took 10 minutes to get him from the school to the square.

The dusky sky darkened, blanketing it in an uneasy haze. It easily unnerved the onlookers. 

A young man slammed a skinny and ragged old man on the flat and hard ground, and some passersby who did not know the truth were immediately filled with righteous indignation.

“Haha, hahahaha… Brat, I haven’t seen you for 5 years… that’s all you can do? It’s far worse than Laozi, this means… hahahaha.”

His laugh was chilling, just like in a horror movie. Many people who heard it were scared. 

It easily doused the passersby’ sympathy for him. Some even took several steps backwards, trying to get away from this man. 

Qiu Shaoping struggled to get up from the ground, looking a bit disheveled. However, his eyes were fixed on Shao Ming, and he bared his teeth in a fierce manner. “You two went behind my back, even opened a milk tea shop. Quite the life of luxury, huh? Dreaming of a peaceful life, aren’t you? You sent me to that damned place for five years. Why do you get to enjoy yourselves so much? Yo–”

“Bam!” 

Shao Ming kicked him again, right in the stomach. 

He didn’t speak, his eyes were like a bottomless quagmire, as quiet as a stagnant lake.

He showed no mercy in his attack, and the person being kicked didn’t seem willing to back down either. Onlookers couldn’t discern right from wrong, and those who wanted to intervene hesitated. On one hand, they found the person on the ground frightening, and on the other hand, they considered the one doing the kicking even more terrifying.

“What should I do? Should I call the police?”

“I’ve already reported.”

There were several discussions around, and the people in the confrontation were completely unmoved.

When Qiu Shaoping fell this time, he hit his mouth, and blood oozed out. He couldn’t feel the pain, seemingly continuing to stand up. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and said, “Heh, is this all the strength you’ve got? You don’t dare to go all out, huh? Five years ago, you smashed my head with a beer bottle and stabbed me with a knife. Where’s that fierceness now? Oh, approaching adulthood, aren’t you? Afraid of legal consequences, huh? 

He spat out blood.

Shao Ming remained silent and was about to take action again when the door of the milk tea shop opened once more. Shao Yujie rushed out, urgently saying, “Shao Ming, stop!”

“…”

Shao Ming turned his head slightly.

Qiu Shaoping glanced at the woman who had run out, then looked at Shao Ming, whose hand was raised. He grinned again, “Why ask him to stop? Afraid he’ll break the law, and his father won’t want him anymore? It’s been five years, and you still can’t forget your dreams of becoming a wealthy man’s wife, huh? Haha, you sent me in just to have him acknowledge his roots. Damn it, you’ve been daydreaming all these years. You shameless, loose bitch, you’re just asking for a beating! A whore like you deserves nothing but for Laozi’s u—”

His voice was again drowned out by the oncoming fist.

Shao Yujie’s face turned pale from his uncouth words, but she was shocked when she saw Shao Ming act again. She wanted to dissuade him. The scene from five years ago suddenly appeared in front of her eyes, freezing her in place. 

Five years ago, that 12-year-old boy smashed the man on the head with a beer bottle. The man’s head was bloody, and the boy’s face was expressionless. After the beer bottle shattered, he didn’t stop – he continued on smashing it, as if wanting to kill the man. 

She couldn’t imagine what would have happened if the police hadn’t arrived in time.

Five years later, now, the boy has grown up. His actions were even more forceful than five years ago.

If this continues, Qiu Shaoping will really be beaten to death.

Shao Yujie urged herself to speak. But she also spoke five years ago, and the little boy didn’t listen to her.

She wanted to step forward and pull him away, but what came to her mind was the boy’s face – full of blood splatters, and yet, expressionlessly numb at the same time. 

Her feet felt heavy, leadened in place. She couldn’t move an inch. 

“Ming-ge!” A person suddenly rushed out of the crowd of onlookers.

Seeing the scene on the square, Luo Suo’s pupils shrank. He trembled for a moment, before running forward and screaming, “Ming-ge, stop! You will really kill him!” 

“Hahaha, trying to kill me… this level is still not enough! You, a little bastard no one wants, remember how I used to deal with your mother? Your mom’s actions… uh, cough hahaha…”

Luo Suo: “…”

He had never seen someone so recklessly daring!

Is this guy a masochist!

But his words obviously made Shao Ming think of something. His eyes were dark, and he kicked Qiu Shaoping’s chest. Once his lungs were hit, he gasped in reflex, forcing him to be unable to complete his sentence. 

However, Shao Ming didn’t stop. The man on the ground had instinctively curled up, and Shao Ming’s feet landed on his arm, shoulder, and back. Despite this, it still didn’t manage to silence the laughter of the man.

“Ming-ge, you…”

Luo Suo wanted to stop him, but he was pushed back as soon as he touched Shao Ming’s hand.

He urgently turned his head to look at the woman at the milk tea shop entrance, hoping she would speak up and intervene.

But Shao Yujie had already covered her head with her hands, leaning against the glass door frame with a painful expression on her face.

“…”

“Shao Ming!”

When he turned his head again, there was another person in front of him.

“Hey, you…”

Luo Suo was about to remind him not to get close, afraid of him getting hurt in the crossfire. But the young man who rushed over had already hugged Shao Ming’s arm with all his strength and shouted, “Are you crazy?! Do you want to bury yourself with him!”

When Zhu Tong squeezed in from the crowd, he couldn’t catch his breath until he saw Shao Ming, who had completely lost his mind and seemingly acted purely on autopilot in his violence. 

It was Shao Ming, who was completely different from what he usually saw, who was different from what the system painted him as. 

He was completely violent, his gaze ice-cold. All the negative emotions were unleashed, as if something that had been pent up for a long time had suddenly burst open, pouring out all at once.

In this state, Zho Tong could instantly confirm that whatever he had experienced before was definitely not as casually dismissive as he showed now in front of him! 

He didn’t want to know about the man who was kicked around by Shao Ming. He just wanted to calm Shao Ming down.

It’s not worth it to ruin his life for a scumbag! 

The sudden voice shouting in his ear made Shao Ming’s movements slightly pause. He turned his head slowly, and after a moment, his pupils refocused as he saw the person in front of him. His gaze shifted slightly, “You…”

“You over there! What are you doing!” 

The police finally arrived, probably because there were more people calling the police. A couple of police cars parked hastily on the square, and several anxious-looking police officers got off and went straight to the “crime scene”. 

At a glance, they saw the “victim” lying on the ground.

The pain in his body made Qiu Shaoping’s laughter sound more like a pained wheeze. He forcefully held onto his head, truly looking like a victim. 

The arriving police officers first helped the person up and then, with a stern look, questioned Shao Ming who was being held. “Did you beat up this man?”

Shao Ming didn’t seem to have regained his senses, and only looked at the person who was holding his arms with both hands.

The police have already checked Qiu Shaoping’s injuries. Because of Shao Ming’s silence, they tacitly accepted that he was the perpetrator. A policeman walked over and began to teach him a lesson: “Why are you beating this man? His ribs are broken. At such a young age, you used such force on an elderly man? Where are your parents?”

Shao Yujie saw the police appear, as if she saw her savior. She was about to step forward when someone already stood in front of Shao Ming.

Zhu Tong let go of Shao Ming’s hand, blocking the police’s glaring gaze, and said coldly with a sullen face, “You let a drug dealer who just got out of prison come to take revenge on the whistleblower. Isn’t this a dereliction of duty? And you still want to blame him on top of that?” 

The police who arrived were just ordinary police officers from the police station. Naturally, they did not know Qiu Shaoping’s criminal record. The police officer who had just questioned Shao Ming was stunned, “Drug dealer?”

Some onlookers also said, “That man is also really strange. He talks like a crazy man.” 

“He’s a drug dealer? How could such a person be released without monitoring?”

“Is his mental instability caused by his jail time?” 

The onlookers’ comments made the policemen’s expression change slightly. One of them turned to look at the “old man” who had just been helped up.

The person who was just lying on the ground, unable to get up, suddenly found strength and rushed towards the two young men.

Zhu Tong got caught unaware. 

However, Shao Ming reacted quickly, pulling Zhu Tong behind him hard, using his hand to bat Qiu Shaoping away. Unexpectedly, his outstretched hand was violently grabbed, and he could register a sense of dull pain on his wrist – he was bitten by Qiu Shaoping. 

“Ah!” 

There was another exclamation from the crowd.

The police were also surprised.

Shao Ming’s brows were taut as he violently pushed away the lunatic who was biting. Thankfully, he was quickly apprehended by the rushing policemen. 

“Your hand…”

Zhu Tong’s pupils were shaking. He carefully grabbed his hand, inspecting the wound. The bite wound had begun to ooze blood. 

The police were also bewildered by the sudden transformation of the “victim”. 

Looks like both of them are crazy!

Qiu Shaoping was unwilling to be restrained. He stared at Shao Ming and said, “I said five years ago that as long as I come out, I will definitely make your life a living hell! I will see it through!” 

His face was hideous, and he didn’t care at all how the police reacted when they heard this.  Right and wrong seemed to have become irrelevant.

Qiu Shaoping was quickly taken away by the police.

The onlookers dispersed after watching and taking enough photos.

Now, the outside of the milk tea shop was devoid of strangers. 

Luo Suo looked at Shao Ming, who had regained his calm, and began to worry. “Ming-ge, your hand…” 

Zhu Tong was intensely focused on Shao Ming’s injured hand. A drop of blood slid down from the wound and dripped onto the ground, and with each drop, the knot on his heart tightened up. He pulled Shao Ming as he said, “Le-let’s go to hospital now.” 

But he couldn’t pull Shao Ming. 

Shao Ming was as steady as Mount Tai, his foot planted firmly on the ground. 

Zhu Tong turned to look at him, just in time to hear him ask, “Why are you here?”

Zhu Tong said, “I’m not at ease,so I went to see.. You go to the hospital with me first.”

Shao Ming said, “It’s okay, just minor injury, no need…”

“If you get bitten by a dog, you have to check it to prevent getting rabies. If you were bitten by that lunatic, it’s important to get the wound disinfected, even if it seems okay!”

Zhu Tong interrupted him sharply.

It’s just that he didn’t look stern or fierce at all. He didn’t have any momentum when scolding him, and he ended up looking… quite adorable. 

Shao Ming suddenly smiled. “Can you let me go to the bathroom first?”

Zhu Tong: “…”

He looked down at Shao Ming’s hand. Since it was bitten by the lunatic, it’s better to wash it first.

He nodded and said, “I’ll go with you.”

Shao Ming did not refuse.

The two turned around and walked into the store.

Shao Yujie was still standing at the door of the milk tea shop. She seemed to be worried about Shao Ming’s injury, but she hesitated.

Shao Ming walked up to her, looked up at her, and seemed to want to say something. But the moment Shao Yujie met his gaze, she shrank and took a step back.

It was a complete subconscious action. Shao Ming swallowed down the words he wanted to say. He smiled and pushed the door into the store.

Zhu Tong glanced at Shao Yujie and quickly followed.

After entering, he looked back.

‘Auntie… was afraid?’ 

‘She’s afraid of her own son? Why?’ 

After turning back for a moment, Shao Ming had already reached the door of the bathroom, and Zhu Tong trotted to catch up.

By the sink, Shao Ming washed his hands in complete silence. The bloodstains, a mixture of Qiu Shaoping’s blood and his own, were washed away. After cleaning the blood thoroughly, he pressed a piece of tissue against it for a while before letting go, leaving behind a red-purple bloodstain.

Zhu Tong felt pain in his heart. He stepped forward and asked, “Does it hurt?”

Shao Ming said in an airy tone, “It doesn’t hurt. Look, the blood is already clotted.” 

“…”

Zhu Tong didn’t believe it. Such a savage bite, it even gave him phantom pain just looking at the wound. 

He stared, and couldn’t utter any words. 

Shao Ming pulled another tissue and patted his hand dry. He hid the wound in Zhu Tong’s blind spot without a trace, and said softly, “Sorry, did I scare you?”

Zhu Tong raised his head again.

Shao Ming wore that familiar smile on his face again, one that had become a habit, but now, looking at it felt oddly stifling.

Zhu Tong didn’t say much. He grabbed him and said, “Let’s… go to the hospital.”

“I really don’t need to.” Shao Ming said, “The wound is already healing.” 

“That’s…” 

“Do not impose on others what you yourself do not want to do, Young Master.”

“…”

He was talking about the time he injured his leg. Zhu Tong was choked, and only managed to say, “Then let’s go back to the homestay, we need to disinfect it anyway.”

Shao Ming smiled lightly. “Okay.”

When they came out of the bathroom, Shao Yujie had already entered the milk tea shop. Under the bright lights, her face was still pale, but she was not speechless.

“Your injury…”

As soon as she exited, Shao Ming interrupted her softly, “It’s alright, don’t worry.”

“…”

“I’m going back first. Mom, you close the store and go back. Don’t open it for the next two days.”

Shao Yujie: “…”

After Shao Ming finished speaking, he opened the door and went out without waiting for her to respond.
