Wilson felt no remorse for the lives of these innocent people. When his family fell into ruin, there was no helping hand extended to him.
Sensing Jiang Ling’s instantly chilling expression, Wilson toned down his smile, ignoring the slight hint of a threat. He tightened his grip a bit more.
“What’s the matter? Seeing Prince Hostage’s expression, are you still concerned about our Emperor? In that case, I’ll deal with you later, let you hear about his death with your own ears,” Wilson sneered.
Jiang Ling’s eyes darkened, glancing towards the starship not far away. He roughly understood that Wilson had indeed secured a spot in the smuggling starship, but it wasn’t for him—it was for himself.
Lowering his gaze, Jiang Ling seized the opportunity when Wilson was off guard to break free from his restraint. In a swift move, he turned the tables, capturing Wilson without leaving any room for resistance.
“It seems the Captain of the Guards is quite confident in himself,” Jiang Ling’s voice turned colder than ever, similar to shards of ice.
Unconsciously, images of the dire scenarios Wilson had described started to surface in Jiang Ling’s mind. His grip on Wilson tightened, as if he could snap his elbow at any moment.
At this moment, he cast aside any thoughts of an immediate escape. He couldn’t bear the idea of Chu Wenyu suffering such a fate.
“How… how could you?” Wilson struggled to resist Jiang Ling’s hold, but he was completely immobilized. Cold sweat formed on his forehead, his tone filled with disbelief.
In his memory, Jiang Ling was a waste who would be injured with just one strike from him. Moreover, he couldn’t sense any spiritual fluctuations from Jiang Ling. How did he suddenly become so strong?
Wilson gritted his teeth, attempting to unleash his spiritual power to suppress Jiang Ling. He thought that maybe Jiang Ling had received some decent physical training.
However, just as his spiritual power was about to emerge, Wilson felt an overwhelming, oppressive threat—a terrifying spiritual force not belonging to him, making it impossible for him to speak. Such strength was something he had only witnessed in Chu Wenyu.
Because of this, he dared not confront Chu Wenyu head-on, only resorting to underhanded tactics. He hadn’t expected the hostage, whom he always looked down upon, to become so powerful.
Almost immediately, Wilson speculated that Jiang Ling might have been hiding his true strength all along, deceiving not only him but possibly even Chu Wenyu.
Turning his eyes, he promptly said, “Prince Jiang Ling, you’ve been hiding here on Burke’s Star for so long, enduring Chu Wenyu’s humiliation. Isn’t my behavior in line with your desires?”
Jiang Ling and Chu Wenyu had an antagonistic relationship; if not for this, why would he think about escaping? It must be to return to Charles and contend for the position of heir. After all, everyone knows that King Charles intends to appoint Jiang Qian as his successor.
Jiang Ling couldn’t be bothered to argue with him. He simply exerted force, dislocating one of Wilson’s arms. Then, he stomped him down and forcefully broke one of his legs.
Even if he was infuriated to the extreme, as a modern person, he couldn’t bring himself to do anything more extreme.
Wilson let out a miserable scream, attempting to crawl away, but he was held down and couldn’t move.
“Don’t be in a hurry. I won’t do anything to you. Just wait here for the punishment you deserve,” Jiang Ling coldly squatted down, patting Wilson’s face indifferently. He then invaded Wilson’s spiritual domain until he watched Wilson lose consciousness.
Afterward, Jiang Ling found communication devices on Wilson and immediately contacted the personal guard who was with Chu Wenyu today.
To avoid Chu Wenyu discovering his location, Jiang Ling hadn’t brought anything that could be traced.
Meanwhile, in the villa, the group of star pirates had formidable strength, but when facing Chu Wenyu, one of the only two SS-level spiritual powers in the galaxy, they quickly fell apart.
Chu Wenyu didn’t even have to take action personally. He enveloped the entire villa with his spiritual power, suppressing the star pirates immediately.
However, catching all the star pirates took some time, and there was cleanup work to be done afterward.
Chu Wenyu, satisfied with the situation, was eager to go see Jiang Ling, who he thought had been staying in the room all this time. However, at the same time, one of the guards who had been directing the operation approached Chu Wenyu with a serious expression.
Having spent so much time in the palace, he could easily identify the voices. Therefore, when Jiang Ling explained that he was looking for Chu Wenyu, the guard didn’t dare to delay.
“Your Majesty, Prince Jiang Ling is looking for you,” the guard handed over the communicator.
Chu Wenyu glanced at him, curled his lips, and muttered a bit coquettishly, “I already told him to wait for me patiently. Can’t he wait?”
Suppressing the delighted feeling of being cared for, he took the communicator and waved off the guard, answering the call as he walked toward the room where Jiang Ling was.
“Why, so worried about me?” Chu Wenyu asked, lips curling into a playful smile before the other side could speak. “Well, well, it’s safe now. I was just coming to find you.”
Jiang Ling glanced at the time, less than ten minutes left. He didn’t engage in small talk and went straight to the point, “Your Majesty, Wilson has planted a timed explosive device around the villa. Please dismantle it within ten minutes.”
Chu Wenyu, hearing something different from what he expected, and noticing Jiang Ling’s unusually serious tone, immediately took the matter seriously. He stopped in his tracks and called a guard over to give instructions.
Finding the bomb inside the eldest princess’s residence was definitely no easy task. The guards, however, had undergone rigorous training, and they quickly understood that they needed to find the eldest princess to inquire about the villa’s security settings and locate potential vulnerabilities.
Chu Wenyu had a sense of the situation and wasn’t overly worried. However, he was puzzled about how Jiang Ling found out.
Glancing at the information on Jiang Ling’s communicator, which was not registered under Jiang Ling’s name, Chu Wenyu had a foreboding feeling.
“Your arrangements are in place, ensuring there won’t be any mistakes, right?” Jiang Ling, even after hearing the communication process on the other side, was still somewhat worried when it came to Chu Wenyu’s safety.
“Don’t worry, guards who can enter the palace won’t lack in investigative skills. But, where did you borrow the communicator you’re using?” Chu Wenyu inexplicably sensed something off in Jiang Ling’s tone. His sixth sense propelled his wheelchair swiftly towards a room at the back of the villa, all the while closely listening to the sounds on the other end.
“Your Majesty doesn’t need to concern yourself with these matters. I’ll hang up now.” Jiang Ling turned his head, eyeing the starship about to depart, and spoke slowly.
After carefully feeling the breath of the person on the communicator for the last time, without waiting for Chu Wenyu to speak again, Jiang Ling hung up.
Undoubtedly, Chu Wenyu was still unaware that he had left. However, Jiang Ling knew that with Chu Wenyu’s intelligence, he might soon discover this fact. He crushed the communicator in his hand, casually tossing it aside, and then turned to walk towards the location of the starship.
The entrance to the starship had a registration desk, after all, it wasn’t a regular airline; it was just an irregular aircraft, possibly operated by a group of star pirates, if his guess was right.
“Name?” The staff didn’t seem like an friendly person, and if he wasn’t mistaken, this business was likely run by a star pirate gang.
“Wilson,” Jiang Ling reported Wilson’s name.
The person glanced at the list, marked a note when he found the corresponding name, and permitted Jiang Ling to board the starship.
“Hello, my enemies might catch up soon. Can you confirm that the flight trajectory is completely confidential?” Jiang Ling cautiously inquired.
Having encountered this situation many times, the staff had seen numerous customers with numerous enemies, paying hefty fees for the assurance of their safety.
“Young man, rest assured, we’ve been in the smuggling business for so many years and have never received a bad review,” the person assured Jiang Ling, giving him a thorough glance. After all, it wasn’t every day they encountered a customer who looked like him.
But sometimes, appearances could be deceiving. The better someone looked, the more twisted they might be, and it was normal for them to do anything.
Seemingly unfazed by the comment, Jiang Ling continued, “Perhaps I can pay extra for some additional services?” He glanced at Wilson lying not far away.
The person pondered for a moment, noncommittal, as long as the payment was sufficient.
Jiang Ling pointed at Wilson, saying, “Can you take this man to the police station on the capital star? Just say someone reported him for something.”
The person chuckled at Jiang Ling’s request, understanding that this might be one of the young man’s enemies. However, he found the approach a bit absurd. Still, watching Jiang Ling skillfully take off a valuable-looking watch from his wrist, he agreed.
Jiang Ling didn’t dare to transfer money through the star network account, fearing it would be traced. Fortunately, he had foreseen such a predicament and brought a watch with him. It was something he used to wear when he was in Charles; Chu Wenyu wouldn’t be able to recognize it.
After a nod, Jiang Ling took a final look at the scenery of Burke Star, sighed, and step by step, boarded the starship.
This time, perhaps success was truly within reach.
The person happily toyed with the watch, initially complaining about how annoying the task was, never expecting to stumble upon an unexpected bonus.
Another member of the gang noticed and hurried over.
“Hey, what are you hiding?” he teased, pursing his lips.
“Hehe, not hiding anything.” The man tightly pocketed the watch.
“Why did you chat with that young man for so long?”
“Oh, it’s funny. He was worried about our safety.”
“Our reputation has really taken a hit? I dare say even if God himself came, he wouldn’t find our starship unless that kid’s enemies have the power to block all the surrounding star regions.”
“Tsk, don’t joke. This trip takes us through so many stellar nations. Even if it’s a national leader, they can’t interfere with other countries’ star regions. Besides, leaders aren’t that free.”
“…”
Meanwhile, on the other side, Chu Wenyu hastily pushed open the door only to find the room completely empty.
The scene he hoped for was absent. Alpha wasn’t standing by the window, smiling as he spoke. There was no trace of the person he longed for.
He stared blankly, a surge of immense panic flooding his heart.
Continuing to frantically contact the communicator only displayed errors.
Chu Wenyu, in a fit of frustration, threw the communicator away and slumped in his wheelchair, realizing that perhaps this was Jiang Ling’s true plan.
Not to celebrate with Anna, but to seize an opportunity to leave him.
The feared moment had finally arrived.
Chu Wenyu emitted a muffled groan, tasting the metallic sweetness in his throat. He expressionlessly watched the liquid from the corners of his mouth drip onto the floor—a viscous, red pool. However, his vision became blurred, tears instantly filling his eyes, rendering everything indistinct. With each blink, tears rolled down and splashed onto the ground. He felt lost and confused.
Jiang Ling didn’t tell the truth.
He has truly been abandoned.
