CFMWWOM Chapter 21 Part 1

Gu Chenyan walked to the bedside.

The young man lying on the bed closed his eyes, which were more beautiful than stars, meek and obedient, yet lacking the vitality of the past.

With Qiao Shu’s sickly appearance and fragile posture, Gu Chenyan furrowed his brows.

His thin lips tightened.

Gu Chenyan bent down, and his large palm gently touched Qiao Shu’s forehead.

A wave of intense heat radiated.

Gu Chenyan’s eyes slightly darkened.

Suddenly, the eyelashes, lightly covered by his palm, trembled slightly, brushing against Gu Chenyan’s skin.

It felt a bit itchy.

Gu Chenyan moved his hand away, seeing the fragile youth on the bed struggling to open his eyes through a tiny slit.

With a heavy head, Qiao Shu laboriously opened his eyes, but his vision remained blurry and unfocused.

Feeling uncomfortable in his body and even more so in his head.

In a daze, gradually, a tall figure appeared in his focused vision. Was it Gu Chenyan?

The discomfort and grievances of being sick erupted when the name “Gu Chenyan” popped into his mind. He pouted weakly, “Husband.”

His voice was very soft.

But Gu Chenyan heard it. His gaze moved, and he leaned closer to Qiao Shu. His palm rested on Qiao Shu’s head, and in his slightly cold tone, a rare gentleness seeped through.

Gu Chenyan: “I’m here.”

Qiao Shu’s eyes widened a bit, “Uncomfortable.”

Gu Chenyan: “Where does it hurt?”

Qiao Shu thought for a moment, “Headache.”

Two fingers covered his temples, applying moderate pressure with a gentle massage.

The pain in his head slightly eased, and Qiao Shu’s pouted mouth gradually relaxed.

Gu Chenyan: “Feeling better now?”

Qiao Shu closed his eyes, softly responding with a “Mm.”

A few seconds later, he opened his eyes again, expressing his grievance, “Hungry.”

Lingering beside and attentively listening, Lu Yue quickly took the white porridge brought by Ou Yinan.

Gu Chenyan glanced at Lu Yue and then turned to Qiao Shu, “Shall I feed you?”

Qiao Shu nodded playfully, “Mm.”

Gu Chenyan sat down on the edge of the bed, gently lifting Qiao Shu. Avoiding the hand with the inserted needle, he allowed Qiao Shu to lean against his chest.

Qiao Shu adjusted himself to a comfortable position in Gu Chenyan’s arms.

Gu Chenyan rubbed Qiao Shu’s head, then looked at Lu Yue.

Lu Yue quickly opened the insulated container holding the porridge, poured it into a plastic bowl, and placed a spoon inside. Ou Yinan had swiftly set the table.

The white porridge was placed on the table.

Gu Chenyan’s actions while feeding were not proficient, showing some stiffness and unfamiliarity, clearly indicating that he was a novice.

Yet, he displayed exceptional patience.

With each spoonful of porridge, he gently blew on it to maintain the optimal temperature. When feeding Qiao Shu, he would use his other hand to support his chin.

Qiao Shu felt drowsy.

Sometimes, Gu Chenyan would gently remind, “Be good, open your mouth.”

Qiao Shu obediently opened his mouth to take a sip.

It took nearly half an hour to finish a bowl of porridge. Once satiated, Qiao Shu looked up at Gu Chenyan again, “Headache.”

Gu Chenyan: “Alright.”

His fingers returned to massage Qiao Shu’s temples. Comfortably closing his eyes, Qiao Shu soon fell asleep.

Gu Chenyan continued holding Qiao Shu, his massaging motions steady and gentle. However, this gentleness dissipated instantly when he looked up at Ou Yinan. The authority of someone in a superior position instantly gathered.

Gu Chenyan: “What did the doctor say?”

Ou Yinan’s scalp tightened, hastily responding, “The doctor said Young Master needs to stay in the hospital for observation tonight…” He made an effort to recall and faithfully relayed the doctor’s words to Gu Chenyan.

After hearing this, Gu Chenyan’s heart eased a bit, and he asked, “What happened?”

There was a trace of displeasure in his voice.

Ou Yinan didn’t dare to conceal anything, “Young Master filmed water fight scenes today, from eight in the morning until the afternoon…”

Listening, Gu Chenyan furrowed his brows.

The temperature in the mountains was much lower than in the city, almost close to zero degrees.

He couldn’t help but feel angry.

Angry at the crew for disregarding Qiao Shu’s health, and angry at Qiao Shu for ignoring his well-being just for the sake of filming.

However, he also understood the unreasonable nature of this anger.

Because it was Qiao Shu’s job.

As the night grew late, Gu Chenyan asked Ou Yinan and Lu Yue, who had been busy all day, to rest.

While coming back from outside, Chen Wenyuan handed a paper bag to Gu Chenyan, saying, “Sir, you haven’t eaten yet.”

Gu Chenyan took it, saying, “Thank you.”

“You should rest too,” he added.

Chen Wenyuan nodded, preparing the sofa bed with the newly bought bedding before leaving.

Soon, the single-person ward was left with Gu Chenyan and the sleeping Qiao Shu.

Gu Chenyan sat beside him, occasionally checking Qiao Shu’s forehead and glancing at the IV bottle.

Around three in the morning, all the medications in the IV were administered, and a nurse entered to take Qiao Shu’s temperature.

The nurse said, “37.5 degrees, still a slight fever. Family members should pay attention at night. If the fever recurs, ring the bell to call the doctor.”

Gu Chenyan: “Okay.”

The nurse on duty measured Qiao Shu’s temperature every half an hour until the sky began to lighten, and Qiao Shu’s temperature finally returned to normal.

Feeling a slight relief, Gu Chenyan got up and lay down on the nearby sofa to rest.

Qiao Shu was awakened by the footsteps passing by outside the door. He groggily reached out to touch his phone on the bedside table, but after a while, he not only couldn’t find his phone but also felt that something was off with the bedside table.

Opening his eyes, Qiao Shu saw the room’s interior. Though it wasn’t fully bright outside, it was enough for him to observe the typical hospital ward setting.

Qiao Shu blinked, then remembered that he seemed to have had a fever and fainted yesterday.

It should be Ou Yinan and the others who brought him to the hospital.

The warmth of the winter blankets was particularly enticing, and Qiao Shu, feeling warm all over, didn’t want to uncover himself. Deciding to continue lying down due to being sick, he soon found himself having to get up.

Qiao Shu: QAQ

Urgent!

Struggling to sit up, just as he was about to lift the blanket and get out of bed, he saw someone lying on the sofa opposite the bed.

He widened his eyes in shock.

Then he rubbed his eyes. The person was still there. Rubbing his eyes again, the person was still there!

Gu Chenyan???

How did he get here!

“Husband.”

Scattered fragments of the scene reached Qiao Shu, leaving him momentarily confused. Soon, memories from last night flooded back.

Instantly, Qiao Shu’s cheeks turned crimson.

He stared at Gu Chenyan’s sleeping face, and the images from last night replayed in his mind repeatedly.

He had coquettishly called Gu Chenyan “husband”!

How did he even say that?

Qiao Shu raised his hand to cover his face, feeling embarrassed for the first time calling Gu Chenyan “husband” face-to-face!

What was Gu Chenyan’s reaction at that time?

Blushing, Qiao Shu thought for a while but couldn’t recall.

Gu Chenyan had hugged him, fed him porridge, and even patted his head…

Ah!

Why was this man so good?

Qiao Shu chuckled.

Why wasn’t he clear-headed last night? What a pity!

“Um!”

Amid his shy and joyous thoughts, Qiao Shu was jolted back to reality by a strong physiological need. Clenching his legs, he lifted the blanket. While putting on his shoes, he remembered the still-sleeping Gu Chenyan and immediately moved with caution.

He quietly went to the bathroom.

Upon returning, he initially planned to lie back down, but upon seeing the man sleeping on the sofa, his footsteps uncontrollably moved towards the sofa.

Qiao Shu crouched down.

With his elbow on his knees and his palm supporting his face, he gazed at the man with a sweet smile in his eyes.

This was the first time Qiao Shu had seen Gu Chenyan’s sleeping face.

Without the seriousness and coldness when awake, the sleeping Gu Chenyan’s face appeared serene, although his sleeping posture remained disciplined.

Gu Chenyan lay flat, hands neatly placed on his abdomen. He lay straight, with his legs at the end of the sofa due to its short length, partly suspended. It looked quite pitiful, not befitting his status as a CEO.

Fortunately, the hospital room had heating; otherwise, with this sleeping posture, Gu Chenyan’s feet might have frozen.

Qiao Shu moved closer, pulled up the blanket covering Gu Chenyan’s legs, and then gently moved back.

He looked at Gu Chenyan.

How could this man be so handsome? His forehead was handsome, his eyebrows were handsome, and even his eyelashes were handsome.

“Pretty long, huh?” Qiao Shu muttered to himself, unable to resist reaching out. His index finger gently flicked the eyelashes.

“Can it be used as a slide?”

Satisfied with the touch, Qiao Shu’s gaze moved downward.

His nose was quite straight, and his lips were also attractive, seemingly soft, or rather, very soft.

“I’ve kissed them.”

Qiao Shu whispered, then discreetly swallowed saliva, wanting to kiss them again.

His head unconsciously stretched forward.

Getting closer and closer to those lips that made him envious, almost about to touch.

“Qiao Shu?”

A slightly hoarse voice sounded, startling Qiao Shu. His entire body instinctively recoiled, and he ended up sitting on the ground, his eyes panicked and guilty.

Gu Chenyan lifted the blanket and sat up, leaning over to half-embrace Qiao Shu. He gently patted the clothes behind Qiao Shu and asked, “Did I scare you? Did you hurt yourself falling?”

Nervous and embarrassed, Qiao Shu shook his head, “No, no, it was my fault.”

A warm hand suddenly reached for his forehead. Qiao Shu looked up to see a serious expression on Gu Chenyan’s face.

Gu Chenyan: “No fever.”

Then he asked, “Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else?”

Qiao Shu shook his head, “No.”

Gu Chenyan helped Qiao Shu sit on the sofa, then went to the side and took the toiletries that Chen Wenyuan had prepared the night before. “Let’s freshen up first. Assistant Chen will bring breakfast later. After eating, we’ll have the doctor check on you.”

Qiao Shu: “Okay.”

They took turns brushing their teeth and washing their faces.

After getting ready, Qiao Shu’s awkwardness finally dissipated. After all, Gu Chenyan didn’t know what he had intended to do just now!

Embarrassment was entirely unnecessary.

Qiao Shu calmed down.

Once calm, Qiao Shu remembered and asked, “How did you come here?”

Gu Chenyan calmly said, “I received a call from Ou Yinan yesterday, heard that you had a fever, so I came to check on you.”

At this point, he suddenly looked serious and said, “Qiao Shu.”

Qiao Shu subconsciously stood at attention, “Yes!”

Gu Chenyan: “I don’t understand much about acting. This time, you fell ill because you take your work seriously. In the entertainment industry, many actors get injured due to their dedication to filming. This is your job, and as an outsider, I shouldn’t say much. But as your husband, I hope that next time you prioritize your health while working.”

“Qiao Shu, I will worry about you. I want you to be healthy.”

The man’s words, with a serious expression, flowed into Qiao Shu’s body like a warm current, permeating every part of him.

“Okay, I promise you,” Qiao Shu earnestly pledged.

Chen Wenyuan and the others arrived quickly.

After finishing the breakfast they brought, not long after, the doctor came for rounds. The doctor checked Qiao Shu’s temperature and asked detailed questions. Qiao Shu obediently answered all of them.
