VFMESR Chapter 57

The first round of the Interstellar Therapist Points Match Tournament came to an end, and on the day the list of qualifiers was released, the forum was filled with howls.

At the same time, the previously unknown Warwick organization, successfully entered the top 150 among a large number of big names.

For the surf-loving players on the forum, this was no surprise. They knew a dark horse had emerged from this small organization, and some were even fanatically checking his performance every day.

The qualifying organizations were eligible for substantial rewards. Among them, a hefty prize of a hundred thousand star coins landed in the captain’s account. It was the first time he managed such a large sum since becoming captain, aside from the payments collected for team building.

He kept his promise and transferred half of it to Jiang Ling’s account. He knew without Jiang Ling, their organization wouldn’t have earned this reward, and the other members had no objections.

Yet, when he shared the good news with Jiang Ling, it seemed history repeated itself – no response, not online. The captain wondered if they were having another lover’s spat.

Learning from past experiences, he didn’t pay too much attention. However, he didn’t expect that for the entire day and the following days, Jiang Ling seemed to vanish into thin air.

The tournament officials took notice of Jiang Ling, a player with modest fame but impressive skills. They also noted he was anonymous, but they could find his real information backstage.

Unable to resist stealing several glances at the photo on the profile, the director, preparing for the post-match meetup, smacked his thigh in excitement. To drum up buzz for the event, he decided to reach out to Jiang Ling, hoping he’d make a guest appearance.

Firstly, Jiang Ling’s skill set was undeniably up to par. Secondly, his age and appearance were a unique selling point among gods of a similar level.

Perhaps this meetup could propel them to stardom and establish the name of their competition. However, despite numerous attempts by the staff to contact Jiang Ling, mentally bracing for various possible rejections, they never anticipated the slim possibility of not even being able to reach him.

So, what was happening with Jiang Ling, the elusive figure in the eyes of the Warwick group and the staff?

To understand, we need to go back a few days.

The night he successfully healed Chu Wenyu’s injuries, Jiang Ling finally voiced thoughts he’d been brewing for a while.

It wasn’t because he had no feelings that he suggested breaking up. So, deep down, he wasn’t feeling good about it. Especially when he saw Chu Wenyu’s seemingly unbelievable hurt expression, Jiang Ling even had thoughts of regret flashing through his mind. Why couldn’t they work things out? What if Chu Wenyu genuinely changed, even just a little?

However, his thoughts soon crumbled.

Chu Wenyu’s face took an unexpected turn, a strong hint of bloodlust in his eyes. In this moment, the earlier warmth seemed like a mirage.

The corners of his eyes still had the remnants of tears from admitting his mistake earlier, but now he coldly sneered, staring at Jiang Ling, “Alright, no matter what I say today, you’re going to break up, huh? You want to leave me that badly?”

Feeling targeted, like being stared down by a venomous snake, Jiang Ling couldn’t help but uncomfortably avert his gaze, despite being somewhat prepared.

However, Chu Wenyu forcefully tilted Jiang Ling’s chin upwards, making him meet his gaze.

That face made him love and hate him at the same time. He was angry at how the other person could utter such words, just like when he said his affection wasn’t genuine.

“These days, you’ve really compromised a lot…” Chu Wenyu spoke, seemingly talking to himself. He felt that all his secret joys these days were nothing but a joke, and the person in front of him was probably silently mocking him.

How could he believe that Alpha truly didn’t mind everything about him? From the start, he was a person acquired through manipulation, and the backlash came surprisingly fast.

Yet, Chu Wenyu had no regrets. If he hadn’t done what he did, an alpha like him would never have had any emotional connection with him. In a way, he had stolen some time that didn’t originally belong to him, and even if it shattered now, he had no intention of letting go.

“Yeah, you’re right. I am that kind of person. I wanted to have all of you, by any means necessary. Unfortunately, I got caught. But do you think someone like me… would let go?” Chu Wenyu chuckled self-deprecatingly, his gaze fixed on Jiang Ling as if observing a lamb willingly offered for slaughter.

Finally, Chu Wenyu revealed his true self in front of the alpha, the person Jiang Ling wouldn’t accept, as he claimed.

“Your Majesty, you can find someone else. There are plenty of young alphas like Zheng Ziang, and they’d probably be more obedient than me,” Jiang Ling stepped back, his expression serious.

He expected Chu Wenyu’s reaction not to be small, but he didn’t anticipate it to be so blunt.

Perhaps he had overestimated his importance. In Chu Wenyu’s eyes, he was just something the other didn’t want to let go of for the time being. As for whether the other truly liked him, he didn’t dare to think about it.

Chu Wenyu couldn’t tolerate Jiang Ling’s avoidance any longer. The idea of being discarded to someone else infuriated him.

He forcefully pressed onto the alpha, like a robber, no longer silently nursing his wounded pride.

Jiang Ling’s disgust was evident, and there was no need for him to restrain himself any longer. It couldn’t be worse than it was now.

“You may come up with solutions for me, but I like them disobedient,” Chu Wenyu remarked, unabashedly.

After Chu Wenyu’s words, he embraced Jiang Ling’s neck and fiercely bit him, then smirked somewhat triumphantly.

Jiang Ling had always resisted intimate contact with him. It was understandable – after all, he didn’t have much to offer. But Chu Wenyu insisted on forcing the issue.

The stinging sensation on his neck was vivid, but Chu Wenyu completely ignored Jiang Ling’s desire for a peaceful breakup.

Jiang Ling pushed the clinging figure away, unable to stay any longer.

“Your Majesty, show some restraint,” he said coldly, immediately intending to leave the room.

Chu Wenyu licked his lips, gently speaking, “Perhaps you might want to know about Lien’s news?” He sat nonchalantly on the bed, waiting for the alpha to turn around within three seconds.

As expected, Jiang Ling furrowed his brow, looking at Chu Wenyu. “Didn’t Your Majesty say you’ve released them?”

Chu Wenyu found the mask irritating during their recent kiss. Initially, he wore it because he was afraid Jiang Ling wouldn’t like his face. Now, he wanted Jiang Ling to take a good look at him and remember his face.

Without a care, he took off the mask and tossed it to the ground.

The deep red birthmark, coupled with Chu Wenyu’s eerie expression, was strangely captivating. Even though he was just sitting there, he had a way of making the alpha halt in his tracks.

Chu Wenyu smirked, his eyes no longer avoiding Jiang Ling due to the birthmark. “Jiang Ling, aren’t you the one who knows me best? Guess whether what I’m saying is true or not.”

“Let me think. He probably doesn’t have any issues right now, but that might change in the future,” Chu Wenyu said thoughtfully, propping his chin. Then, he cast a light, fleeting glance at Jiang Ling, leaving the decision in his hands.

Jiang Ling hated being threatened, and this was Chu Wenyu’s most authentic self.

“What does he have to do with me? It’s Your Majesty’s business how you want to handle it,” Jiang Ling retorted coldly. He didn’t want to be under this person’s control.

Satisfied with Jiang Ling’s response, Chu Wenyu continued with a chilling gentleness, “How about tomorrow, I cut off one of his fingers and bring it to you? That way, the hand that touched your shoulder will be missing a finger.” His tone was as nonchalant as discussing what to eat for the day.

He meticulously observed the surveillance footage, remembering every detail, even the people who exchanged a few words with Jiang Ling. Originally, out of fear that Jiang Ling would be afraid of him, he kept his thoughts hidden and operated in the shadows. However, now that Jiang Ling was fully aware, Chu Wenyu saw no reason to hide anymore.

“Moreover, even if you leave through this door now, you can’t leave the palace. So, it’s highly likely that Lien won’t escape harm, and eventually, you’ll be forced to obey me,” Chu Wenyu stated calmly.

Veins bulging on Jiang Ling’s forehead, he clenched his fists, unable to move a step out of the door. He couldn’t bring himself to become part of such a gruesome scheme.

“Come here, I promise he’ll be fine,” Chu Wenyu beckoned towards Jiang Ling. Seeing no response, his expression turned cold.

“Don’t make me angry,” he added with a forced smile.

Jiang Ling felt a heavy weight beneath his feet, as if shackles had been placed upon him. He didn’t know how he managed to walk over, only feeling a stifling sensation in his chest.

Chu Wenyu’s gaze was straightforward, using his own methods to achieve his goals, like a child indifferent to good or evil.

Encircling Jiang Ling’s shoulder, he absorbed the warmth from the alpha’s body. Otherwise, he felt too cold inside, and he genuinely couldn’t bear it.

“Jiang Ling, look at me. You said I’m not ugly, right?” Chu Wenyu didn’t want Jiang Ling to turn away. He forcibly made the alpha turn his head, wanting him to get a good look.

Is he truly frightening? Is that why Jiang Ling wants to leave him?

As Chu Wenyu seriously thought about this, he had already gone through the pain, now numb and somewhat perplexed.

His demeanor seemed like that of an abnormal who was unaware of his own nature.

Jiang Ling struggled to breathe under Chu Wenyu’s oppression. Following his words, he raised his eyes to look at him. The face that had once been so close to his own, now etched deeply in his mind.

Just like Chu Wenyu, a person so unique and profound.

Oddly, Jiang Ling didn’t feel as angry anymore; he just found fate incredibly ironic.

He remained silent, and Chu Wenyu spoke on his behalf.

“Don’t bring up Zheng Ziang again. I don’t like him, just like I don’t care about anyone else. I only care about you. Previously, it was just to provoke you, that’s all.” Chu Wenyu pressed himself into the alpha’s embrace, knowing full well that Jiang Ling couldn’t accept him, but certain things needed clarification.

He didn’t like Jiang Ling pushing him towards others.

Jiang Ling’s eyelids twitched slightly as he glanced at Chu Wenyu, expressing skepticism about the sincerity behind the words. Given Chu Wenyu’s madness, it was indeed plausible, but was it because he liked him?

He didn’t show any other reaction.

“I have to participate in the points tournament today,” Jiang Ling said bluntly.

It was the only reasonable excuse to avoid Chu Wenyu without angering him.

Chu Wenyu, however, wasn’t as accommodating this time. “No, I don’t want you to be around but constantly ignore me. Besides, if it weren’t for fearing to upset you earlier, I would have wanted that damn competition to close long ago.”

“Is Your Majesty planning to imprison me?” Jiang Ling confronted Chu Wenyu, expressionless.

Chu Wenyu smiled brightly, “How is that imprisonment? Clearly, it’s our own little world.”
