Johnny had an intuitive sense that Han Yan calling him definitely meant trouble, but he could only steel himself and go upstairs. He began by standing outside the slightly ajar door and gently knocking. After receiving Han Yan’s permission, he pushed the door open.
The room’s lights were already on, and the crystal chandelier hanging above cast a graceful light, but the pile of official documents on the desk made the place look more like an office than a place to sleep. Johnny walked up to Han Yan and straightforwardly said, “Big brother, do you need something from me?”
Han Yan silently stared at him, feeling that Johnny had changed a lot, but when did this change happen? He tried to trace back in time and realized that the other person seemed to have become like this since the last time they spent a night at Prince Pei’s mansion.
Not playing games, not sleeping in, suddenly falling in love with work.
Han Yan turned on his terminal brain, adjusted his glasses, and focused on the planning case on top. “Didn’t I mention that there would be a lot of discount events on the software recently? I asked you to coordinate with our partners in advance. How come you haven’t attended any of them?”
Johnny stuttered, “I… I wasn’t feeling well that day, so I let Manager Shana go instead. Is there a problem?”
Han Yan didn’t respond to him but instead slid through the terminal brain pages slowly. His voice remained consistently devoid of emotion, “Last time when we were negotiating the software cover advertisement with our partners, I told you to come along, but you didn’t. Was it also because of a stomachache?”
Johnny, looking puzzled, scratched his head and blinked, “No, that time it was a leg ache.”
At these words, Han Yan paused in his movements, slowly lifted his eyes to stare directly at him. The gaze behind the lenses carried a faint trace of coldness. Calmly, he asked, “Do you think I’m joking with you?”
Seeing this, Johnny instinctively straightened his posture, while inwardly lamenting. He had long known that Han Yan was different from other people, not one to indulge in sweetness or act cute, especially not in front of him. Wasn’t he just asking for trouble?
Johnny decided to lower his head and apologize, “Big brother, I was wrong. You can deduct it from my salary.”
He hoped that his meager salary could soften Han Yan, the shrewd businessman.
However, he clearly overestimated Han Yan’s conscience. Instead of letting it go, Han Yan casually pierced through the facade with a simple sentence, “Both of those partners were with Prince Pei, so you didn’t want to go?”
As Han Yan’s words fell, the air instantly plunged into silence. Johnny, astonished, looked at Han Yan and saw the latter crossing his legs, leisurely leaning back in the chair. Han Yan calmly said, “Speak up, what exactly happened between you two.”
Han Yan was mentally prepared.
Johnny, however, immediately took a few steps back, vigorously shaking his head, “I don’t know.”
Han Yan was definitely going to beat him, the kind of beating that would make him confess everything!
Han Yan raised his hand and adjusted his glasses. Throughout his life, he had never been in a hurry or lost his composure. Seeing Johnny in a panic, he spoke calmly, coaxingly, “We’re brothers. There’s nothing you can’t tell big brother. Speak up, and big brother can help you solve it.”
Johnny continued to vigorously shake his head, “You can’t solve this.”
Han Yan, with a hint of a smile, said, “How do you know I can’t solve it if you don’t tell me?”
Johnny hesitated for a moment at his words. Han Yan indeed had a knack for handling things. Maybe he did have a solution. Half-believing, he asked, “Are you sure?”
Han Yan’s smile was gentle, quite seductive, “When has big brother ever lied to you?”
Johnny replied, “Okay, but you can’t hit me.”
Han Yan readily agreed, “Fine, no hitting.”
Johnny cautiously continued, “What if I accidentally marked Prince Pei?”
“…”
After a three-second silence, Han Yan suddenly stood up from the chair with a loud “whoosh”. Before he could do anything, Johnny had already been scared out of his wits. In a panic, he dashed for the door, screaming at the top of his lungs, “Zergs! Help! Big brother is going to kill me! Come over and help! Quickly!”
Johnny crawled and scrambled out of the room, in his panic, he accidentally tripped and fell. He happened to see Gaien standing at the door, as if he had found a savior. With tears streaming down his face, Johnny rushed over and hugged Gaien’s legs, crying, “Gaien! Help! Help! Big brother is going to kill me!”
Despite standing guard outside, Gaien couldn’t hear what was happening inside due to the soundproofing of the door. Seeing Johnny rush out in a panicked state, hugging his legs and seeking help, Gaien couldn’t help but feel surprised. Subconsciously, he asked, “What happened?”
Han Yan happened to walk out from inside, appearing nonchalant. He leaned against the door frame, showing no change in his expression. However, when he saw Johnny clinging to Gaien’s legs, there was a subtle frown. He calmly uttered two words, “Come out.”
Johnny hid behind Gaien, vigorously shaking his head. He couldn’t go out; he would be beaten to death if he did!
Gaien subtly evaded Johnny’s hands and turned to Han Yan, asking, “My lord, what just happened?”
Han Yan crossed his arms, leaning against the door frame. He casually uttered, “Nothing.”
Gaien was about to breathe a sigh of relief at those words, but then Han Yan added nonchalantly, “He marked your uncle.”
He marked your uncle.
Your uncle.
Uncle.
Uncle…
Han Yan’s words had a tremendous impact. Gaien’s pupils constricted at the revelation, and he instinctively looked at Johnny. However, Johnny was quick to react and was already preparing to make a run for it. Han Yan caught him by the collar, effortlessly tossing him back into the room as if he were throwing a ball.
“Plop!”
Johnny fell to the ground like a ragdoll, but he didn’t struggle. Instead, he lay there silently, seemingly resigned to his fate.
Han Yan dusted off his hands, ready to enter the room. However, he noticed Gaien still in a state of shock, struggling to come to terms with the revelation. Han Yan calmly said, “You come in too, and close the door while you’re at it.”
With a “click”, the door closed quietly as Gaien entered, completely cutting off Johnny’s hope for escape.
Over the next three hours, Johnny sat on the carpet with a dejected expression, enduring Han Yan’s thorough interrogation. Forced to do so, he reluctantly revealed the truth of that evening, stuttering, “That night, at the banquet, both of you left, leaving me alone with that zerg…”
Han Yan’s conscience was unfazed. The eyes behind the lenses remained indifferent, and he only uttered two words, “Go on.”
Johnny kept his head lowered, a large patch of red spreading from his ears to his neck, unsure if it was due to nervousness or something else. “Prince Pei said it was already very late, so he suggested I stay overnight and he’d take me home the next day. We ended up sitting on the sofa, chatting, and unintentionally drank too much…”
“When Prince Pei got drunk, his complexion looked a bit strange. Suddenly, he said he wasn’t feeling well and hurriedly went upstairs to his room. I was worried, so I followed him and found out that it was his estrus period…”
As Johnny spoke, he suddenly recalled that night. The usually gentle and noble Prince Pei, with a flushed face, was frantically searching the room for suppressants during the night. Failing to find any, he could only reluctantly undo his clothes to relieve the heat. Johnny, being naive and ignorant, thought he was sick and foolishly approached, asking if he needed help finding a doctor.
The prince, embarrassed and blushing, tried to usher him out, stumbling due to his condition. In the end, he fell into Johnny’s arms.
This action caused the pheromones on Johnny’s body to uncontrollably emanate. After all, male and female zergs influence each other, and although there was a considerable age difference between them, neither of them had any experience with such matters. How could they possibly handle the situation?
Johnny actually didn’t remember much of what happened at that time. He just recalled feeling comfortable, and he hardly moved throughout; it was Prince Pei who was active…
Seeing Johnny’s fair face getting redder and redder, almost to the point of bleeding, Han Yan, with an unreadable expression, tapped the table with his fingers and asked, “Are you two together?”
Johnny honestly shook his head, “No.”
In the early morning aftermath, all he could remember was Prince Pei looking somewhat ashamed and embarrassed, yet also a bit satisfied. With a sigh, he uttered, “Child, forget about what happened last night…”
However, evidently, Johnny hadn’t forgotten.
He knew he couldn’t focus on playing games or eating takeout now. He could only pin his hopes on work, hoping to quickly forget about what had happened.
Han Yan, thinking it was just a passing infatuation, had assumed the two zergs were together. He controlled the cursor to exit the holocomputer page, still prioritizing his business, “Since you’re not together, I hope you won’t bring unrelated emotions to work next time. If you’re going to avoid all collaborations with Prince Pei, you don’t need to come to the company tomorrow. I’m not keeping idle zergs.”
Johnny understood that Han Yan was giving him a warning. He nodded quietly, “I understand, big brother.”
Han Yan had no further niceties to offer. The questions were asked, the matter concluded, “Leave.”
“Okay.”
Johnny promptly scrambled to his feet, turned, and left the room, considerately closing the door behind him.
Gaien remained silent throughout the whole ordeal. After all, it was an affair involving seniors, and he didn’t feel it was appropriate to interject. Moreover, Johnny was quite young, and there were significant disparities between him and Prince Pei in various aspects. Regardless of the perspective, they weren’t well-suited for each other.
Seeing Gaien lost in thought beside him, Han Yan spoke up, “What are you thinking?”
Gaien snapped back to reality and shook his head, “I’m just concerned that handing over the work to Johnny for Prince Pei might lead to some oversights.”
Han Yan, however, replied, “There won’t be oversights when dealing with Prince Pei. He’ll be even more meticulous than before. The project is stable now, there won’t be any major issues.”
However, Gaien couldn’t shake the feeling that Han Yan was even busier than before. While “busy” might not be the right word, most of the time, Han Yan seemed to be constantly watching live streams on the Star Network. Gaien approached and inquired, “Are you busy with new projects recently?”
Han Yan nodded, not hiding anything from him, “I’m developing new software.”
After the success of the food delivery app’s development and promotion, Han Yan hadn’t paid much attention to it. He knew that waiting for it to become widely popular was just a matter of time. Instead, he shifted his focus to short video platforms.
Han Yan noticed that the main star lacked a completely independent video-watching app. In most cases, people had to rely on the StarNet. The video recommendation rules on the StarNet had many loopholes, preventing many potentially talented streamers from making it to the popular list. Additionally, the tipping and merchandise promotion mechanisms were also quite limited.
In summary, there was significant profit potential in developing such a platform.
However, Han Yan wasn’t making any major moves yet. He was just testing the waters and exploring options. He still needed to wait for the capital to return. When the traffic of the food delivery app matured, he could directly divert it to the short video platform.
Gaien asked, “Is it related to those streamers?”
When Han Yan had some spare time, he would occasionally tease him, “Guess.”
Gaien shook his head with a smile, “Can’t guess.”
He could probably guess that Han Yan was screening potential high-quality streamers. The short video content he had seen had shifted from superficial dances to entertaining quizzes, and then from quizzes to educational content, covering a wide range of topics.
Han Yan thought it was right not to guess. If it were that easy to guess, how could he do business? He happened to come across a short video explaining the source of pollution stones and, for some reason, asked, “The military has been back from the Solitiam Forest for a while now. What are the Empire’s plans?”
Gaien, who was about to enter the bathroom for a shower, paused at the question. “Originally, we planned to eliminate the mutants inside the forest to prevent them from spreading and causing uncontrollable harm. However, after conducting dissections and tests, we found that those animals are gradually undergoing self-purification. It won’t be long before they return to normal.”
Han Yan casually asked, “What about the trees?”
He remembered that the educational video mentioned the possibility of mutations in trees.
Gaien shook his head slightly, “Those mutant trees haven’t undergone self-purification. We’re still observing. If there’s no change, we’ll have to send the military to clear them out. They release toxin tides every rainy season, which is very dangerous.”
Han Yan didn’t ask anything further and simply said, “If it’s confirmed that the military will be sent to clear them out, let me know in advance.”
He had another acquaintance he needed to find.
Gaien didn’t think much of it, assuming Han Yan was getting involved in some peculiar business again. He agreed with a simple “okay” and turned to go to the bathroom for his shower. However, when he tried to close the door, a hand suddenly blocked it.
Han Yan had turned off the holocomputer at some point and followed behind Gaien. His well-defined right hand pressed against the glass door, then, under the gaze of the female zerg, he slowly opened it and walked in directly. When the bathroom door closed, it muffled his faint and deep voice, “Together.”
Tonight, while Admon was comforting his two long-neglected female zergs, Han Yan was also satisfying his sensitive monarch. The only one tossing and turning in the same room was Johnny. In the same mansion, all being male zergs, they unfolded entirely different aspects of zerg life.
On this day, Han Yan happened to be on vacation. He had originally planned to check on the progress of the new residence’s decoration. However, before he could leave, he was unexpectedly visited by two uninvited guests—none other than the head of the Chamber of Commerce and his precious male cub, Fallon. Oh, Fallon was the that intentionally locked Gaien.
The head of the Chamber of Commerce’s visit this time could be considered very sincere. He carried large and small gifts in both hands, seemingly of considerable value. Unfortunately, Han Yan hadn’t hired any servants. The other zergs in the house were either at work, out for leisure, or handling business affairs. As a result, Han Yan was alone at home, and there was no one to help him with the packages.
“Your sudden visit, I wonder what brings you here?”
Although Han Yan was caught off guard, he didn’t refuse his guests. Instead, he turned and led them into the living room. He calmly took a seat on the sofa, his eyes behind the lenses filled with interest, intending to see what these two zergs were up to.
Seeing that there were no other zergs in Han Yan’s home, the head of the Chamber of Commerce placed the brought gifts on the coffee table. He smiled and said, “Since our hasty farewell at Prince Pei’s residence last time, there are many things I haven’t had the chance to discuss with you. I hope you won’t mind my sudden visit today.”
Han Yan raised an indifferent eyebrow at the words, neither confirming nor denying. His lukewarm attitude did not deter the head of the Chamber of Commerce’s enthusiasm; instead, it fueled his eagerness to establish connections. After a roundabout conversation, the head finally hesitated before revealing the true reason for his visit, “I’ve heard that the trending delivery app recently is your creation, truly remarkable. I’ve opened a few restaurants recently and wanted to try joining the platform. However, for some reason, my applications have been consistently rejected. Therefore, I came here specifically to seek your advice on the matter.”
In the world of zergs, as in the human world, the pursuit of wealth could lead to both success and failure.
Han Yan, hearing this, lightly tapped his knee with his fingertips, contemplating. He offered a smile that seemed neither warm nor cold, “The approval process for businesses joining is handled by our staff. If your applications are being rejected, it likely means there are issues with your documentation. Unfortunately, I’m afraid there’s not much I can do to assist you in this matter.”
The head of the Chamber of Commerce, feeling a sense of urgency, initially thought Han Yan was an easy target. However, it seemed that dealing with him was more challenging than expected. The gifts on the table likely wouldn’t sway him. In a somewhat pitiful tone, the head lamented, “All our documentation is in order, but every time it’s either a safety inspection problem or a business qualification issue. I’m truly at a loss. I implore you to show some leniency.”
As the head of the Chamber of Commerce spoke, he subtly nudged his companion, Fallon, who promptly understood and moved forward. He squatted beside the table, poured a cup of tea for Han Yan, and presented it with both hands. With a deliberately soft and pitiable tone, he pleaded, “Your Excellency, my father has been overwhelmed with the restaurant’s business lately. Please help us think of a solution. I’m willing to repay you even if I have to work like an ox or horse.”
Han Yan paid no attention to him and did not take the tea. Instead, he lowered his gaze, casually lit a cigarette, and played with the silver lighter. The sparks flickered, producing a crisp sound with each ignition. “Work like an ox or horse?” he echoed, seemingly uninterested.
The man slowly savored those four words, as if detecting a faint trace of interest. “How do you want to work like an ox or horse?”
The last time Fallon locked Gaien in the dressing room, Han Yan had not settled that score yet. He had flown over and bumped into the bonfire himself. Was he foolish, or just innocent?
Fallon blushed when she sensed an opportunity. Seeing this, the head of the Chamber of Commerce promptly made an excuse to go and check the garden’s scenery, “thoughtfully” leaving the two of them alone.
Fallon half-knelt on the ground, fingertips lightly tracing a circle on Han Yan’s left leg, implying a strong suggestion. Unconsciously biting his lip, Fallon said, “I’ll follow your orders, Your Excellency.”
Han Yan, upon hearing this, exhaled a pale puff of smoke, gently closed his eyes, lost in thought. Tapping the cigarette ash with his fingertips, he realized that not only are humans different from each other, but even among female zergs, there are distinctions.
This particular female zerg failed to arouse any desire in him.
His heart was as calm as stagnant water.
Not getting any response from Han Yan for a while, Fallon couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious. Intentionally rubbing his chest against the male zerg’s knee, he slowly moved his fingertips upward, his voice becoming more tender, “Your Excellency~”
“…”
Han Yan calmly smoked, lost in thoughts about why his desires were being controlled by another female zerg.
Fallon, unwilling to give up, continued to tease. However, when his fingertips accidentally touched the male zerg’s right leg while wandering, Han Yan abruptly flipped him over, catching him off guard. In the process, Fallon hit the table, creating a loud and jarring noise.
“Bang—!”
Fallon, now on the ground, looked at Han Yan in astonishment, “Your Excellency?!”
Why did this male zerg repeatedly reject him?! Wasn’t he better than that crippled one, Gaien?!
Han Yan, expressionless, extinguished his cigarette, suddenly feeling a lack of interest. He stood up from the sofa, ready to usher the guest out. Unexpectedly, Fallon rushed over in a panic, grabbing onto his legs, “Your Excellency, please don’t reject me. If there’s anything I’ve done that displeases you, you can tell me directly, and I’ll make amends!”
This male zerg had surprisingly strong strength. Just as Han Yan was contemplating whether to give him a solid slap, Fallon’s body was suddenly lifted off the ground by an invisible force, crashing heavily into the nearby wall. He groaned and fell to the ground, unable to get up.
This scene happened so suddenly. Han Yan instinctively looked towards the door and saw a tall figure in military uniform standing there. Gaien stood silently outside the door, the brim of his hat shading half of his face. He watched this scene with a gloomy expression, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
