Jiang Dao grasped Chu Yinlong’s sleeve and slowly tightened his fingers.
“Can you teach me?” He got up and took two steps forward, approaching Chu Yinlong, “I…don’t want to see you sad.”
In the next second, Chu Yinlong suddenly turned around, wrapped Jiang Dao into his arms, and hugged him tightly..
After a long time, he kissed Jiang Dao’s forehead, and lowered his eyes with a bitter smile. “I’m not sad, I’m afraid… I’m afraid that you’re just…just…”
His sentence ended halfway through.
He didn’t want to admit that possibility, but he could see from Jiang Dao’s eyes that Jiang Dao didn’t really rely on him much.
So he became increasingly worried about gains and losses, wanting to confirm the other party’s intentions.
Listening to Chu Yinlong’s hesitating words, Jiang Dao suddenly remembered Zhou Wei’s words. “Are you afraid… I’m just greedy for your body?”
Lowering his eyes, feeling the warm body of the person in his arms, Chu Yinlong finally admitted frankly: “…Yes.”
Jiang Dao asked, “Why do you think so?”
After a long silence, Chu Yinlong said, “Because I don’t see you… expressing any regrets. Even if we have to live separately for filming, when you asked me to go, there wasn’t any nostalgia at all. We haven’t seen each other for half a month, and after it’s done, you… you’re already satisfied.”
Jiang Dao said nothing.
Because he really thinks this is very good. They can communicate with each other openly, and play harmoniously on the bed. Isn’t this… satisfying enough?
Chu Yinlong gently rubbed Jiang Dao’s hair with his cheek, and said in a soft, low tone: “But I’m not satisfied. I still want to talk to you, I want to talk to you about what I encountered on the set today, I want to hug you, and to hold you and sleep. Even if we don’t do anything, I want to look at you before going to bed every day, see you the moment I wake up in the morning. Even if we have to live separately in order to adjust our moods for filming, even if it’s late at night… I’m still reluctant.”
Lowering his eyelashes, after a long while, Jiang Dao murmured, “I also share your thoughts…”
He stepped back slightly and looked up at Chu Yinlong: “But it’s not like we only have today… We can meet tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, and can be together for a long, long time. Just a little separation… Why are you so reluctant?”
We can be together for a long, long time… When he heard this sentence, emotions surged in Chu Yinlong’s eyes. “Is this what you think?”
Jiang Dao answered straightforwardly: “Yes. We already live so close together, and it’s not like there’s fear of life or death.”
Chu Yinlong laughed suddenly, and lightly leaned against Jiang Dao’s shoulder, as if he was a little out of strength and trying to seek some support from him.
Jiang Dao wrapped his arms around Chu Yinlong’s waist and whispered, “The things you said, we can do them every day after filming is over… You can coax me to sleep and wake me up every day, okay?”
Chu Yinlong smiled. “Okay. This is what you promised yourself.”
After hugging quietly for a while, Chu Yinlong released his hands and stepped back slightly.
“Then, shall I recite the scriptures for you to sleep?” he asked in a low voice.
There’s no problem with this.
Jiang Dao nodded in agreement.
After Jiang Dao fell asleep, Chu Yinlong got up and walked to the bedside, and placed a light kiss on the boy’s lips.
Staring at Jiang Dao’s sleeping face for a while, he muttered to himself: “…why do you think that only a life or death parting is regretful? I don’t want to leave you for a moment.”
Jiang Dao, who was asleep, naturally couldn’t answer.
After a long time, Chu Yinlong slowly exhaled, got up and turned off the lights, and gently left the room.
…
The next day, when he arrived on the set, Jiang Dao regained his previous indifference and alienation.
The scene they’re filming today is Little Gray Wolf accepting the city guard leader’s plan of “hero saving beauty”, and meeting Xia Tian, the son of the leader of the resistance army, to break into the resistance army camp.
Of course, they won’t mention these things in the beginning of the movie. The audience will be kept in the dark, thinking that Xia Tian really rescued Little Gray Wolf from a group of villains – the first meeting of Xia Tian and Little Gray Wolf is the real start of the film, which is mostly filmed from Xia Tian’s perspective.
The resistance scouts led by Xia Tian bumped into a certain squad of city guards in the ruined city, and saw the guards brutally pulling a skinny youth out of a collapsed room.
After experiencing many tough fights, the young man was injured, and he was covered in a mix of bright red and dried blood stains.
—But, this young man has a pair of excessively beautiful eyes. When he was brutally pressed on the ground by several city guards and had his trousers ripped open, his eyes were still full of determination to resist. Even if he was outnumbered and unable to resist, he still tried his best to try to fight back. Biting the wrist of one of them, even if he was kicked in the abdomen, he never let go.
When those eyes suddenly looked over, Xia Tian seemed to see a wolf who would rather die than give up.
By the time he reacted, Xia Tian rushed forward with a feverish mind and tossed the city guards who were up to no good to the ground.
The young man leaned against the ruined wall with all his strength, trying to cover his body with a broken piece of cloth, biting his lip, his face full of stubbornness.
After injuring and driving away the guards, Xia Tian walked back, took off his jacket, and put it on the youth.
“Just you?” He looked at the collapsed ruins around him, and asked softly, “Where’s your family?”
The young man answered indifferently, “Dead.”
In the apocalyptic wasteland where wars are everywhere, orphans are not uncommon. More than half the resistance army are orphans they rescued and recruited.
Xia Tian’s mind moved with the intention to bring him back, so he asked, “What’s your name?”
The young man’s long eyelashes trembled slightly. His eyes were clear and delicate, but his gaze towards Xia Tian was full of hostility.
After examining him for a moment, he opened his mouth and replied, “I don’t have a name. They… used to call me Little Gray Wolf.”
“Little Gray Wolf…” Xia Tian murmured and said with a smile, “It’s very suitable for you.”
Little Gray Wolf was noncommittal.
Xia Tian tentatively said: “Since you’re alone, why not join us?”
Little Gray Wolf asked: “Will I have enough to eat?”
Xia Tian replied, “Yes.”
Little Gray Wolf did not hesitate: “Okay.”
“Ok, this shot is done.” Director Mu announced loudly from the director’s seat.
This scene took a full two days to film before finally meeting My Zhixing’s requirements. For example, the first part where Little Gray Wolf was pulled out by the city guards was repeated no less than ten times – the amount of force is wrong or the staggering steps are unsightly. Even after being pushed to the ground, if the shape and tear of the fabric isn’t good, the scene has to be reshot.
If it weren’t for their steady progress, Jiang Dao would’ve doubted whether the film could be finished within the estimated four-month schedule.
…
After Little Gray Wolf successfully joined the resistance army, it was naturally impossible for him to follow Xia Tian immediately. Therefore, there weren’t many scenes between Jiang Dao and Chu Yinlong for a while.
Even though they have few scenes together, outside the camera, their relationship was much more comfortable.
They don’t have to worry about the uncontrollable emotions during filming, and can stay together, chat, and do those crooked things other couples do.
Director Mu’s scenes are not as thrilling and exciting as those Chu Yinlong’s shoots, and although it is a bit tiring to repeat the same actions over and over again, shooting was progressing smoothly.
Little Gray Wolf made rapid progress in training, and performed well in the resistance army. Finally, he got the opportunity to join the scout team where Xia Tian was.
It’s a street battle in the ruins of a narrow city.
Due to the narrow terrain, with many line-of-sight obstructions and restrictions on the use of firearms, this fight scene is more in line with the definition of an action movie than the previous fight scenes. It includes breaking walls and doors, flying over walls, and many jumping and crouching actions.
With a wire attached, Jiang Dao jumped out of the window of an abandoned building, grabbed the rusty rainwater pipe beside the wall and slid down. After landing, he rolled to the side to avoid the bullets, and quickly hid himself behind a collapsed wall.
This series of actions is a continuous long shot. If there is a slight mistake, everything needs to be repeated. For example –
“The wire is too tight, and the clothes are deformed.” Director Mu stared at the monitor with a serious face. “Xiao Dao, when you slide down the water pipe, move a little faster… The shot is a little slow, and the rhythm isn’t tight enough.”
Jiang Dao looked up at the set and suggested: “If I start from the top of the first floor, I can jump down directly.”
Director Mu frowned: “The next step is to roll and dodge, can you do it?”
“En,” Jiang Dao nodded. “The building is more than three meters but less than four meters, no problem.”
After thinking about it, Director Mu agreed to the plan: “Then try it first.”
So Jiang Dao ran into the set again, climbed all the way to the fourth floor, and asked the assistant who was waiting here to help him restore his clothes before filming again.
After two more reshoots, the scene finally passed. Jiang Dao rubbed his numb ankles, took the water from Chu Yinlong and drank a little, and continued onto the next scene non-stop.
Little Gray Wolf snuck into the midst of battle, blocked a sneak attack for Xia Tian, and then fought side by side.
The battle in the narrow dark alley was fierce.
Xia Tian and two other members of the scout team were blocked, trying to break through the siege.
Little Gray Wolf broke through the obstacles, and happened to meet a city guard who was about to sneak attack Xia Tian from behind. The dagger in his hand raised up–
Without any hesitation, Little Gray Wolf lifted his gun to kill the sneak attacker, and then cooperated with Xia Tian and the others to open a gap in the encirclement.
“The enemies outside are almost solved,” Little Gray Wolf said quickly in Xia Tian’s ear. “Retreat to the east, where there are relatively few guards.”
“Okay.” Xia Tian did not hesitate and retreated with him.
They were intercepted mid-retreat, beginning a dark alley chase.
At the critical moment, Little Gray Wolf pushed Xia Tian away and blocked another attack for him. He was shot in the leg, and blood poured out.
“Little Gray Wolf!” Xia Tian hugged him and took him to the bunker.
“I can’t die…” Little Gray Wolf turned pale from the pain, and clenched his teeth. “Brother… help me up!”
Xia Tian said nothing.
He quickly pulled out a dagger and cut open Little Gray Wolf’s trouser. Pulling away the fabric, he tied a simple tourniquet to stem the bleeding, and continued the retreat. Finally, they managed to reunite with the reinforcements and boarded a car back to the resistance base.
“Good, it’s over.” Director Mu was obviously very satisfied with the final scene, and made a rare smile. “Everyone has worked hard. We’ll end here today, and film an indoor scene tomorrow.”
Everyone on the set immediately applauded and cheered — indoor scenes are much easier than battlefield action scenes. The current scene took two weeks to film, and everyone could finally rest for a while.
Who knew that not long after starting to film the indoor scenes, the crew finally encountered a big problem.
After Little Gray Wolf was injured for blocking the gun in Xia Tian, Xia Tian has been taking special care of him, and the atmosphere between the two young people has gradually become ambiguous.
Finally, after changing the dressing for Little Gray Wolf’s leg injury in person, Xia Tian was kissed by the youth and seduced to bed.
Jiang Dao finally faced a task that was impossible for him to complete.
“I’m sorry.” He sat naked on the side of the set bed, his eyelashes drooping. “But I really… can’t cry.”
