Jin Wuqi slept until evening.
His heat ended in less than a day.
Yu Yang had a simple dinner. And when he came back, he saw Jin Wuqi was still sleeping. He sat at his desk, turned on the desk lamp, and dealt with the tasks left over from the day.
Whenever he worked overtime at night, he didn’t like to turn on all the lights. Usually, he only turned on a desk lamp, allowing the darkness around to press in and be blocked by the brightness on the desk. The space was vast, but what he could see was narrow. It was akin to a prison carved out for himself.
A bright prison.
He would rather stay in this small bright space than step into the dark shadows, groping in despair.
Yu Yang heard a sound. He looked up and saw Jin Wuqi standing at the bedroom door. The light from the bedroom shining out, outlining his figure clearly.
He was only wearing Yu Yang’s shirt. Everything was covered except for his long legs and his feet wearing Yu Yang’s slippers.
His hair was not tied up. It scattered messily, falling over his face’s delicate lines, making his features appear blurry in the dim light. It added a hint of fragility to his appearance.
Yu Yang suddenly thought of a phrase: ‘keeping a beautiful woman in a golden house.’
In this cold and solemn high-rise building, in the elegant and understated office, there was a hidden spacious bedroom where a beautiful and tempting Omega was hidden. The scent of roses, the moans during heat which sounded particularly soft and helpless, were continuous and pleasant. It was like the deep abyss of desire.
Yu Yang didn’t conceal his thoughts. He stared straight at Jin Wuqi and said, “You really suit being kept here.”
Jin Wuqi walked towards him, passing through a stretch of darkness, and approached the desk illuminated by the desk lamp. He looked down at Yu Yang and reached out to touch his cheek. He then let his hand fall down, slowly crouching down until he knelt at Yu Yang’s feet. He took his hand and said, “You don’t have to keep me locked up. As long as you want, I’ll stay here.”
Half of his face was in shadow while the other half was illuminated, with scattered hair catching the light.
Yu Yang raised his hand, tucking the hair on the right side of Jin Wuqi’s face behind his ear. His fingertips brushed against the earlobe and followed the curve of his jawline. It finally lifted his chin to make him look up.
“Your heat is over,” Yu Yang said. His tone was affirmative.
“Yes,” Jin Wuqi’s eyes flickered slightly. “Won’t you ask me why?”
“I won’t,” Yu Yang withdrew his other hand from Jin Wuqi’s grasp. “Because I know you don’t intend to tell me.”
He turned his attention to his computer. He was going to leave the country the day after tomorrow. So he needed to review project plans and contracts.
“You have a lot on your plate. And so do I,” Yu Yang said calmly. “I don’t know what you’ve been through. And if you don’t want to talk about it, I don’t need to push you.”
Jin Wuqi laughed as he leaned on Yu Yang’s knee. “You’re still so stubborn and straightforward.”
Yu Yang didn’t respond since he was reading a contract.
“Wait until I’ve sorted things out,” Jin Wuqi’s fingertips slowly slid towards the inside of Yu Yang’s thigh. His voice sounded softer than his movements. “I’ll tell you everything, Yu Yang.”
Jin Wuqi, dressed in a loose shirt, folded his long, fair legs and knelt beside Yu Yang. Yu Yang kept his eyes fixed on the screen. He was now reading Article 21 of the contract.
There was a slight movement under him. Jin Wuqi slowly got up and knelt between Yu Yang’s legs. With a flick of his fingers, he undid the belt of Yu Yang’s sweatpants.

Afterwards, Jin Wuqi changed back into his own clothes and left the office. He and Yu Yang stood by the dimly lit door and shared a kiss.
Jin Wuqi touched Yu Yang’s face and whispered, “Get some rest.”
“Okay.” Yu Yang removed his hand from Jin Wuqi’s waist and took off the hair tie from his wrist. He handed it back, saying, “You too.”
After the Omega left, Yu Yang closed the office door. He turned off the desk lamp and then went into the bedroom.
He lay on the bed, smelling the lingering scent of roses on the pillow. He slowly closed his eyes.
He wondered; how many secrets were still hidden in the unseen places?

*Translator’s Note: The phrase ‘Keeping a beautiful woman in a golden house’ in Chinese is ‘金屋藏娇 (jīn wū cáng jiāo)’. This phrase is often used to describe someone who keeps a beautiful woman sheltered or hidden away, typically implying that the woman is like a treasure or a prized possession. -K
