BFWGSW Chapter 9

Yongxin Junior High School

The school was filled with mind-controlled teachers. There were a few scattered puppet students wandering around, as well as a dozen janitors, each holding a shovel. There were also a number of teachers patrolling the school building. Looking out the window of the chemistry classroom, you can always see a bunch of people coming and going down the stairs.

I asked Wang Meng’er to follow me, then I put on the transformation skin and took on the form of the Head Teacher. Tentatively opening the door to the chemistry classroom, a patrolling student heard the commotion and came rushing into the chemistry classroom at a rapid pace. He was just in time to see me, disguised as the Head Teacher, staggering out of it.

“Head Teacher? What are you doing here?” The student stared straight at me. I saw that his eyes were lifeless and his face was as colourful as dishwater. He didn’t look human at first sight, so I made up a random excuse for him to go into the Chemistry classroom first.

“I found something in there. Come over here and help me look at it.”

The student went in, and immediately had his neck twisted right around by me. After similarly shoving his head into a potted plant, I walked with Wang Meng’er down the middle of the first year’s corridor as if nothing had happened.

“Is this really okay?” Wang Meng’er quietly followed behind me. I still didn’t say a word and only let her concentrate on showing me the way to the broadcasting room.

I came face to face with a female teacher leading a group of students as we passed by the Faculty Office. She approached me upon seeing me and asked what had happened to the attendance rate after the Headmaster’s latest custom rules.

“Head Teacher, ah, you also know that students nowadays are disobedient. They don’t pay attention to the lectures and I, as a teacher, can’t control it at all! What exactly is the Headmaster’s purpose in doing this?”

I sneered coldly in my heart. As if the teacher could really lecture normally. It was either an excuse to eat people or something inexplicable, and the students came here purely because their parents paid for them to be imprisoned.

I pretended to be the Head Teacher and replied, “I was wondering what was going on when you suddenly asked me. Did you know that there is now an additional rule for duty students in the classroom? Pay attention to it; you teachers will need to check for it when the time comes.”

The female teacher I was speaking to instantly paled as she grew increasingly angry, but quickly calmed herself after a few seconds. She said goodbye to me before quickly continuing her search for the classrooms on the ground floor with the group of students she had under her control.

Taking advantage of the fact that no one had searched the chemistry classroom yet, Wang Meng’er and I went up to the first floor in a blaze of glory. Deceiving those teachers and puppet students was very natural thanks to my superb acting skills.

“How many times have you searched the school building, yet there’s not even a single trace of anyone. You guys aren’t slacking off, are you?”

The teachers were fearful when they heard me say that and explained, “No, it’s the Headmaster who arranged for us to just look in the school building.”

“There are so many people here. If they all came to the school building, that delinquent girl would have run away long ago, so why are you still looking for her? If you don’t fulfill the basic rules of the classroom, you’ll be punished.”

A few of the teachers shivered upon hearing about the punishment. They went down from the first floor in a flash, and I watched from both sides to make sure that no one was there, and generously let Wang Meng’er take me to the broadcasting room.

Wang Meng’er pointed at a red door, “This is it.”

The door was blood red with two golden handles. This kind of door was out of place with the atmosphere of the school, and it looked very weird. I reached out and tried to pull on it, when a man’s face suddenly appeared on top of the door.

“There are conditions for whoever wants to enter the broadcasting room, so are you prepared?”

I was wondering what was going on when Wang Meng’er looked at the red door in front of her in shock, and she told me flatly that the door wasn’t like this yesterday.

I immediately understood that, like a rule made suddenly redundant by the Headmaster, this door had appeared because of certain rules. The door looked at me cheerfully as he asked me what my purpose was in coming here.

I reacted quickly, pulling Wang Meng’er with me and said, “There’s a disobedient student here with me, and I need to brief them in the broadcasting room.”

“So, does it require conditions, then? I like to gamble, so you can pick the game you want to play with me.”

I was embarrassed. How do you play the game again? The boys from dormitory 404 also played the game, and as a result, I was beaten up and directly solved the strange game. This newly emerged door also wants to play the game, but how do you play? I have never played before, ah.

“Rock-paper-scissors it is, then. The best two out of three.”

The door agreed to play my game, then he exhaled and red mist rose up to stand beside me, slowly forming into a humanoid shape.

“Alright, I’ve prepared the props needed for the game. Let’s begin.”

We raised our hands at the same time and decided to drop them simultaneously. As my fist dropped and his palm unfolded, I realised that I was going to lose this round.

I could have used my ability, but I was afraid of alerting the Headmaster as a result. Currently the Headmaster hasn’t shown up yet. I would have to explore the campus to find him, but being discovered by too many people would be troublesome. The door smirked after I lost the first game.

“Haha, I’m still awesome.”

As the second game of rock-paper-scissors began, I shouted: “I play paper!” I quickly threw out the rock without giving much thought, but the door’s reaction was also very fast. He understood what I wanted to do, and the red mist coalesced in the air. How could I possibly give him a chance to win? I immediately struck hard with my fist, not caring whether I would be discovered or not. Impulsively, I instantly demolished the door, and the red humanoid mist instantly dissipated without a trace.

Wang Meng’er was shocked, “Why did you do that? If you break down the door, you’ll attract the people who are trying to capture you.”

The door was already dead quiet, and he was even less likely to fool around, so I was very satisfied. I took off my hood to reveal my original appearance and pulled Wang Meng’er to squeeze through the door of the broadcasting room.

“I also thought about what you had said, but just now I was going to lose. I can’t lose, so I can only fight. This time it was an emergency. I didn’t have the time to play mind games with it.”

Wang Meng’er was a little speechless. She knew that this transfer student who had arrived suddenly was a superhuman, but in a school with all sorts of rules, no matter how you put it, you need to use your brain, right? She thinks about what she can do, thinks about what she can’t do and she still can’t think straight. Completely brainless…

The audience in the livestream broke out into a fit of laughter. It was a funny little titbit with a touch of apocalyptic horror. The viewers of the Dragon Kingdom were almost used to this player’s style and behaviour. A lot of people have already looked beyond that. It doesn’t matter if you’re a psychopath. As long as you can prevent those supernatural creatures from coming down on us, you’ll be a good person, a hero.

The pop-ups had stopped trolling at the beginning and were mostly helping with the analysis. Everyone knew what the girl was thinking just by looking at Wang Meng’er’s speechless appearance on the livestream.

【I was initially speechless when I watched it live. Now I’m also speechless, but I’ve gotten used to it.】

【With reasonable analysis, the odds of passing are still quite large, but when you look at our Dragon player’s mental power consumption, it is too much. Her complexion is obviously not very good, hey!】

【Actually, our Dragon Country’s players are relatively normal compared to the newer players in the group.】

The pop-ups then chatted about players from other countries, like the rules from the church that the Rice Country players went through, where the priests and nuns were all satanists. Not only that, but the most unbearable thing for those players was that there were a lot of immigrants in the town, with blacks, whites, Asians and Mexicans. The whole town was going to have a ritual ascension to become a sacrifice to the devil at the instigation of the church’s priest. However, before the ceremony could be finalised, a form on sexuality had to be filled out with 97 sexualities in total. An old cowboy was flanked by immigrants on his left and right sides, and he was holding the sheet with the 97 sexualities written on it. He immediately tensed up and transformed into a wild cowboy and went on to fight alone in a gunfight against  the town’s devil, like a soldier with post-war trauma and PTSD who had dreamt of returning to the battlefield.

With the Stick Country’s corporate bullshit rules, there was an urban beauty, a tall and gorgeous player. However, after entering the Strange company’s instance, she was harassed by the monsters inside and her personality warped. She was originally serious about saving the country and playing the game. She simply quit the livestream after being verbally humiliated and irritated by the pop-ups on the bullet screen. She then revealed her true colours and became a demon who hacked up all the men in the company. The corporate instance repeats itself daily, so she went back to work the next day as if nothing had happened. Now, the pop-ups on Stick Country’s livestream are cursing her every day, while others want her to die in the Strange World. The men of Stick Country think she’s a feminist because she only cuts down men and not women, so they boycott her.

【The Stick Country players are a little bit crazy. Don’t the guys in the Stick Country think it’s pretty demonic as well….? It’s crazy that it’s the end of the world and you’re still doing stuff like this. I have a relative who studies in Bangkok, so can we please stop being crazy at this time?】

【And the Notebook Country has even more crouching dragons and phoenix chicks1Could also be translated as “Wolong Feng Chu”. The player in the notebook country had an outbreak of secondary illness2Most probably a mental breakdown, from the looks of it, saying that he will destroy the world and then commit suicide. He keeps dying in the game, but his family rules are that he is the only one who is human, while his parents and sisters are all cursed. He can’t die if he wants to die, and his sister stares at him in the closet 24 hours a day.】

【The player from this country eventually set fire to all the neighbourhoods in his Strange World.】

In order to free himself from the control of his family, the player in this country burned all the people in the whole community to death. When he was taken to the Strange World’s police station, he thought he had finally gotten rid of his cursed family. Little did he know that the burnt-out family members had followed him to the police station to take him to his new home. He can’t escape at all and still has to stay in this world for 7 days before he can pass the test.

So the player in this country decided to play the game seriously, and after clearing the game, he would return to the real world to commit suicide.

The player from the Sunset Country entered the Strange Castle Tales instance. They had to work with several NPCs to find a serial killer lurking in the castle.

【It’s like werewolf killings. This player from the Sunset Country looks pretty normal, huh? 】

【The person above, you think too much. There’s not a single sane person in this batch participating in this game. I studied in Sunset Country, and watched the live broadcast. The man said that he was King Arthur in the morning, Sherlock Holmes in the afternoon, and the next day he actually said that he was Harry Potter.】

At this moment, Yongxin Junior High School

I saw red curtains hanging in the broadcasting room, and the microphone and broadcasting machine were there in a closed state. There were musical instruments and statues all around, all covered with a layer of dust. I saw a handy little notebook lying on the broadcasting platform, and my intuition told me that this trip was not in vain. I reached for it, but when I opened it, it was full of things I couldn’t comprehend.

“Holy shit, what kind of ghost writing is this?” I was shocked. The last written note in the principal’s diary was exactly the same as the ghostly notes in this little notebook. Wang Meng’er walked over to look at it, and she seemed to recognise this thing.

“This word is …This is the writing of the international world3Le Engrish – the world’s international language. I only understand passwords and numbers. I need to go to the library to look up the dictionary for other information.”

“Words in the world?4This is supposed to be a pun / word play with the previous sentences. “writing of the international world” i.e. English can also be translated as “words of the inner world” so Meng’er heard it wrong and it’s supposed to be a humorous mistake. Just this? ”

Wang Menger nodded: “As a transfer student, haven’t you learned the characters in the international world?” This was taught in an elective class in elementary schools, but I didn’t learn it properly, so I need a dictionary for translation.”

This world is really different from mine.

“Are you sure there are numbers about passwords on it?” I asked while pointing to the writing on the notebook.

Wang Meng’er nodded affirmatively: “Because I sometimes need to deal with some strange forces, I need to look at things such as passwords, so I am very familiar with the words used for passwords.”

Could this be the password to the teaching office’s computer? I’m going to try it either way.

I slipped the codebook into my pocket and the rhythmic system tone came again.

【Discover the Broadcasting Room. Discover the Codebook. World Exploration Level: 21%. Exploration level reached Stage One. Stage One rewards are now being issued.】

A reward! I’ll take it!

A small black book fell out of the air, so I picked it up to check it out. What the hell was this?

【Recap – Designed to record the words spoken by NPC’s and the routes chosen by players. From this, you can find more puzzles and clues.】

I just want to rip this shit up. It still gave me something I’d need to use my brain on while knowing that I’m just a violent passer-by. What do I need this for? I’m not in the mood  to read it.

Translator’s Corner: Let’s pretend that it hasn’t been more than two months since the last update… This mortal humbly apologises <(_ _)> The original intention was to start updating regularly again after my exams finished at the end of June, but my grandma (she’s 90 this year) fell and broke her hip. Needless to say that it was a chaotic mess these past few months, but I’ll try to churn out the chapters as soon as possible (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
