DSF Chapter 146

Chapter 146: It All Depends On Me to Spend Money【Side CP】

Bian Ning is still a child, after all. She hasn’t experienced romance herself, let alone know how to deal with someone else’s.

Sun Tianjiao gave a few comforting words before grabbing his bag and leaving.

He had just found out about this, and he was in a terrible mood. He couldn’t care less about being tactful; he just felt like a fool from start to finish.

Sun Tianjiao pondered how to alleviate the stress from the emotional turmoil he was experiencing.

Take a drive?

He didn’t have a car.

Or go to a bar to drown his sorrows?

Checking the time, that seemed more feasible.

Who cares? He’d vent first and then think about it.

Sun Tianjiao pulled out his phone and began to search on a review website.

He didn’t want a quiet bar; he needed somewhere loud and chaotic, a place where even if he screamed or cursed, no one would notice.

He zeroed in on a club with a minimum spend of a thousand.

Expensive, yes, but definitely thrilling.

Worth it! That’s the place!

Sun Tianjiao called the number: “What time do you open? Is there dancing?”

Customer service: “Hello, we’re open now, and definitely dancing. You can also request songs.”

Sun Tianjiao: “Is it lively?”

Customer service: “It gets lively quickly, about half an hour. If you come now, we can reserve a good seat for you, very close to the stage, you know what I mean.”

Sun Tianjiao, feeling excited and a bit curious, “Got it! Reserve it for me!”

He had made money for so many years and never once splurged. He didn’t even know whom he was saving for.

Customer service: “Alright, may I have your name?”

Sun Tianjiao: “Last name Sun, I’ll be there soon!”

Bian Shu originally wanted to go home to accompany Sun Tianjiao, but was stopped by the administrative supervisor at the last minute, saying they needed to discuss the annual meeting.

He had no choice but to stay in the office and listen.

The administrative supervisor was talking endlessly about his plan, hoping Bian Shu would approve more funding considering the company’s good profits this year, Bian Ning’s call came through.

Bian Shu glanced at the phone, frowned, turned down the volume, and didn’t answer.

He knew Sun Tianjiao was at home, and Bian Ning could talk to him if there was an issue.

The moment the call ended, Bian Ning called again.

Bian Shu stopped the administrative supervisor, walked to the window, and answered, “Hey?”

Bian Ning choked up a bit, sobbingly: “Brother, I’m sorry!”

Bian Shu looked at the hazy night scene outside the window, raised an eyebrow slightly, “Did you break my collection again?”

He had a passion for collecting books. His home was filled with bookshelves and many rare editions that were almost antique.

When Bian Ning was younger, she often carelessly mishandled these collections.

When Bian Ning choked up, she coughed twice, “Not this time.”

Bian Shu breathed a sigh of relief, “Then what?”

Bian Ning: “Wuwuwuwu, I lost your wife!”

Bian Shu: “….”

Bian Ning: “I mean, Sun Tianjiao found out he was my scumbag master.”

Bian Shu closed his eyes briefly, then reopened them, a rare hint of anxiety flashing through them: “You told him?”

Bian Ning sulkily: “No, he just saw my friend’s ID and guessed it himself. How is he so smart? Just the mention of my name scared me silly.”

Bian Shu’s expression darkened: “Where is he?”

Bian Ning whispered: “He ran out, I don’t know where. What should we do?”

Bian Shu: “Okay, I understand.”

Despite his calm tone over the phone, anyone in front of him would see the barely concealed panic on his face.

Hence, the administrative supervisor was confused.

If he didn’t know better, he’d think the company’s stock had crashed.

Bian Shu had considered being honest with Sun Tianjiao.

But when and how to reveal the truth, he hadn’t decided.

It was his mistake, and he shouldn’t have dragged it out this long.

Bian Shu said to the administrative supervisor, “You handle the annual meeting, I have something to take care of.”

HR director: “Ah, President Bian?”

But Bian Shu was already striding out of the office, not even bothering to shut down his computer.

Once outside, he immediately started calling Sun Tianjiao.

The first call went unanswered.

Bian Shu didn’t really expect it to be picked up. He chuckled bitterly and dialed again.

After a long wait, still no answer.

The sky had completely darkened, and in the rich night, the city lights were splendid. The cool air was refreshing, blowing against the face, a bit dry and painful.

Bian Shu stood in the night wind, continuing to make another call.

Sun Tianjiao leaned back on a small sofa in the bar, lazily sipping his cocktail while enduring the deafening music, watching the lightly dressed, excited men and women twisting on the dance floor. He felt somewhat listless.

He didn’t like this environment.

Too noisy and too expensive.

He saw the calls from Bian Shu.

His phone vibrated on the table from time to time. Even though the sound was drowned out by the music, the name flashing on the screen was hard to ignore.

Sun Tianjiao didn’t feel like answering, but his self-discipline as a corporate slave tormented him constantly.

He had graduated for so many years, and he had long lost his stubborn temper.

Moreover, besides being his boyfriend, Bian Shu was also the club’s sponsor.

Mixing work relationships with personal feelings was just awkward. He had to be cautious even when feeling annoyed.

When the phone rang for the fourth time, Sun Tianjiao couldn’t resist anymore and answered.

“Hello.”

There was a pause on the other end before Bian Shu’s calm voice came through, “Where are you? I’ll come to you.”

Bian Shu could roughly guess the kind of place Sun Tianjiao was in by the background noise—it was overwhelmingly loud, making it almost impossible to hear anything else.

Sun Tianjiao was about to dismissively say “Don’t, I’m annoyed, don’t want to see you,” but swallowed his words.

After all, besides being his boyfriend, Bian Shu was also the sponsor of his club.

And he didn’t want to break up with Bian Shu either. It would be too dramatic to refuse communication.

Sun Tianjiao sighed, rubbed his hair in irritation, and reluctantly gave Bian Shu the name of the bar.

To show his frustration, he hung up right after giving the name, without waiting to hear anything more from Bian Shu.

Afterward, Sun Tianjiao curled up on the sofa, twisting violently.

“Ah ah ah ah ah! How can Zero have an employee like me!”

“Boss, what are you going to give me to make up for this!”

As he was theatrically complaining, a waiter approached hesitantly and shouted over the noise, “Sir, maybe you’d enjoy joining the dance floor? It’s more fun!”

Sun Tianjiao: “…”

He knew Bian Shu would be arriving soon, and then the two of them would have to engage in a rational discussion, likely a confrontation of their core beliefs like never before.

Taking a deep breath, Sun Tianjiao decided to let loose in the dance area first.

He observed for a while and understood that dancing was just a bunch of people squeezing together, randomly moving without any particular technique—yet everyone seemed happy and enthusiastic, as if wound up by a spring.

The broken, flashing lights cast colorful shapes on the walls, and the whole crowd swayed to the rhythm of the music.

Sun Tianjiao downed another gulp of his cocktail, spurred on by the fiery alcohol, and joined the crowd to sway to the beat.

“Bian Shu, damn you! Deceiving my feelings!”

“Thinking you’re all that just because you have money! Thinking you’re all that just because you’re the sponsor!”

“If you hadn’t confessed, I wouldn’t have agreed to date you!”

“You didn’t say it from the start, now it’s too late to apologize!”

“I will not forgive you easily!”

Amid the loud music, Sun Tianjiao ranted about Bian Shu without inhibition.

As he vented, he felt someone touch his backside.

He frowned, and his tirade was momentarily paused.

In the crowded dance floor, where accidental bumps were commonplace, Sun Tianjiao initially tried to avoid conflict by stepping aside.

But soon after, another hand reached out to touch his waist.

“What the hell?”

Sun Tianjiao swiftly turned around, grabbing the intrusive hand, glaring furiously as he shouted over the deafening noise.

It was a man, tall and slim, dressed flamboyantly.

The man caught by him seemed annoyed, “What’s your problem?”

Sun Tianjiao was incredulous, “You touch me and ask me that?”

The man disdainfully responded, “Don’t you know the rules? Down here in the dance floor, strangers kiss all the time. If you can’t handle it, why are you here?”

Sun Tianjiao was fuming, “Sure, go kiss your dad!”

The man retorted, “Crazy!”

Sun Tianjiao: “Fuck off!”

The man shrugged off Sun Tianjiao’s hand and disappeared into the crowd.

With the dance floor packed and bustling, Sun Tianjiao had no way to settle the score and could only resign himself to his bad luck.

He regretted coming here. He should have just gone to Yan Yibing’s place for a meal instead.

Bars really weren’t meant for middle-aged men like him.

As Sun Tianjiao brooded, the club lights suddenly brightened, and he spotted a familiar figure.

Bian Shu, still in his work suit, looked utterly out of place in the bar environment.

Even someone as usually composed as Bian Shu couldn’t help but appear a bit flustered in the dance floor chaos.

With a deep frown, one hand covering his ear and the other pushing through the crowd, he looked around for Sun Tianjiao.

The air was thick with the scent of dry ice mixed with mist, and the dazzling lights created a mesmerizing atmosphere. The occasional wild cheers from the crowd further fragmented the chaotic space.

Bian Shu, with a resigned shake of his head, apologized as he squeezed through the crowd.

“Sorry, excuse me, thank you.”

Sun Tianjiao, watching from a distance, felt a slight satisfaction seeing Bian Shu’s discomfiture.

Right.

He deserved to be put in a tough spot for once.

Otherwise, his always serene and assured demeanor made everyone else seem childish.

As Sun Tianjiao was smirking, he noticed a tall, attractive woman reaching out to touch Bian Shu’s chest.

Sun Tianjiao: “???”

Bian Shu paused, but realizing the toucher was a woman, he restrained any reaction he might have had.

However, with the music blaring, there wasn’t much he could do anyway.

Being handsome and obviously affluent, Bian Shu was like a gourmet dish in a pigpen, just waiting to be devoured.

Sun Tianjiao: “What the actual fuck?!”

He couldn’t stay angry any longer. The showdown of values could wait, but his territory needed immediate defending.

Elbowing his way through, Sun Tianjiao grabbed Bian Shu’s sleeve and used his body to block the reaching hands.

He greeted loudly, “Hey, hubby!”

Seeing him, Bian Shu’s anxious look softened, and with a mix of resignation and fondness, he sighed, “Hey, wifey.”

Sun Tianjiao rolled his eyes silently.

He knew that Bian Shu was clueless about internet slang, couldn’t keep up with the trends, and had no idea he was referencing a popular meme.

But thinking about it, it seemed that Bian Shu wasn’t superior to him in every aspect.

At least the way he awkwardly greeted him, all clumsy, was kind of cute.
