They used half a box of condoms, the backseat was a mess, and the air was filled with mingling scents of blackcurrant and amber. Zuo Chi, thoroughly worn out, his voice hoarse, and his face still flushed with desire, belatedly felt embarrassed: “No one heard us, right?”
Sheng Li hugged him tightly, playing with his hair: “No, there’s no one in the cars around us.”
Zuo Chi stretched his hand to the front seat: “Where are my clothes?”
“Putting on clothes already?” Sheng Li’s hand caressed his butt ambiguously, “How about one more time?”
Zuo Chi slapped his hand away, his voice hoarse and laden with desire: “I’m about to fall apart.”
Sheng Li shamelessly hugged him back, like a big, warm heater: “You’re bluffing. Your stamina is great. You never even panted after running 5,000 meters.”
Zuo Chi gave him a look: “If you’re so capable, you try being the bottom?”
Sheng Li fell silent but after two minutes said, “Then let me give you a massage.”
Sheng Li imitated a massage technique he had seen, using his wrist and knuckles to perform kneading actions, gentle but continuous, then formed a fist and gently pounded his shoulder.
Though exhausted, making love with the one he loved filled Zuo Chi with a swelling sense of satisfaction. He lay back enjoying the massage for a while before getting up: “Alright, the air conditioning is making me a bit cold. Let me put on my clothes.”
As Zuo Chi dressed, his arms looked white and jade-like under the light, with faint blue veins visible. His ass was perked when he bent, and his legs were straight and long. Sheng Li watched him openly, feeling that every movement was overly tempting.
Zuo Chi: “Got a cigarette?”
“Yes.” Sheng Li handed him a pack and a lighter.
Zuo Chi opened the car door: “I’ll go outside for a smoke.”
Sheng Li wiped down the seats with tissues, cleaned the car, turned off the air conditioning, and opened the windows for ventilation. He also got dressed and followed Zuo Chi out.
Zuo Chi stood by the stone steps a few meters away, a cigarette in his mouth, flicking the lighter with his thumb. The flame danced on his fingers. He slightly parted his lips, exhaling elegant, wispy smoke rings.
Sheng Li’s heart raced. He felt an irresistible attraction in this scene. He walked over, naturally took a cigarette from the pack, bit the tip, and mumbled: “Can I borrow a light?”
Zuo Chi held his cigarette with one hand, broke Sheng Li’s cigarette at the tip, and leaned in to kiss him. They kissed in the dark, their lips making wet, smacking sounds, reluctant to part.
Zuo Chi asked: “Did you taste the smoke?”
“No.” Sheng Li’s fingertip rubbed over Zuo Chi’s lips. “Let me taste again.”
In the end, it was Zuo Chi who called for a stop. If they kept kissing like this, they might use up the remaining half box of condoms, and he definitely wouldn’t be able to get up tomorrow.
Sheng Li, however, wasn’t satisfied yet. Even in the thirty-something degree outdoor heat, he stuck close to Zuo Chi, bowing his head and sniffing around Zuo Chi’s gland.
In the heat of the moment, Sheng Li’s canine teeth brushed against the soft flesh of Zuo Chi’s nape, almost biting down. Marking the Omega he loved was an Alpha’s instinct.
But he held back because Zuo Chi’s gland surgery hadn’t even been six months ago. He worried that even a temporary mark might affect the surgery’s outcome.
“Ah Chi, I know what a lifelong mark means to you. Although it’s an Alpha marking an Omega, the right to be marked is yours. I’m certain I’ll love you forever, so I want to mark you for life, but because I love you so, so, so much, even without the mark, I have no regrets.” Sheng Li said softly, “As long as you’re by my side, where I can see and touch you, I’ll be happy.”
Zuo Chi turned his head to look at him and smiled. “Even though you were a jerk to me for a while, you’ve been good to me for most of the past twenty years. Since we’ve decided to be together, I trust you. Actually, I’m also curious about what marking would feel like.”
Sheng Li’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
“Mm…” Before Zuo Chi could finish speaking, Sheng Li kissed him twice more.
Zuo Chi sighed helplessly, “Alright, are we going to sleep or not?”
Sheng Li couldn’t hide his joy. “Let’s go to sleep.”
It was already past midnight. They had both had a bit to drink and planned to sleep in the car for the night and have the driver pick them up in the morning.
Outside, the cicadas chirped; inside the car, the two cuddled and fell asleep.
The next day, Zuo Chi was awakened by the alarm. He tried to get up to turn it off but couldn’t move, then remembered he was in the car.
“Sheng Li, wake up.” Zuo Chi realized his head was resting on Sheng Li’s arm.
He pushed Sheng Li, who mumbled half-asleep, “Why do you still call me Sheng Li…”
Zuo Chi wasn’t sure if he was sleep-talking or speaking to him. “Then what should I call you?”
“Baby.”
“…” Zuo Chi was almost sure Sheng Li was awake. “You’re still dreaming even when you’re awake.”
Sheng Li opened his eyes and pulled Zuo Chi closer. In a soft voice, he said, “You called me that before.”
The last time Zuo Chi had a pseudo-heat, he did indeed call Sheng Li that. He didn’t expect Sheng Li to remember. His face, including his ears, turned red, and he looked down, avoiding Sheng Li’s eyes.
Sheng Li reached out and pinched his ear, which was red enough to bleed. “We officially started dating yesterday, and today I feel like getting our marriage certificate.”
Zuo Chi’s face was still hot, but he spoke seriously. “Not today. I have a contract to sign.”
Sheng Li pressed his forehead against Zuo Chi’s. “Okay, then let’s pick a good day when we get back.”
They lingered for a while, but seeing that it was getting late, Zuo Chi told Sheng Li to call the driver.
After the call, Sheng Li still lay there, reluctant to move. “I don’t want to go to work today.”
Zuo Chi: “…”
Sheng Li suddenly remembered something and sat up, looking at Zuo Chi to explain. “I was joking.”
“It’s okay to not want to work occasionally.” Zuo Chi knew why he reacted this way. It was because he had once said Sheng Li was incompetent. Sheng Li had said harsh words to him, and he had done the same.
He said softly, “Sheng Li, I like that you stand up for an Omega against bullies. I like that you help friends in trouble without a second thought. I like that you comforted me in the isolation room, saying that secondary gender doesn’t matter. The Sheng Li I like doesn’t need a big career or to be mature. He just needs to respect me and care about my feelings.”
“Do you understand?”
Though he was an Omega, he could also make money, work hard, and take care of his Alpha. He wasn’t weak. What he cared about wasn’t Sheng Li’s achievements but whether he had the same heart and was committed to their future together.
Hearing the repeated “like,” Sheng Li’s eyes teared up, and he nodded repeatedly. “I understand.”
The luckiest thing in his life was meeting Zuo Chi in kindergarten.
His Ah Chi was beautiful, cute, tolerant, rational, and emotional, and also liked him.
He would spend his life proving he was worthy of Zuo Chi’s love.
….
While waiting for the driver, Sheng Li and Zuo Chi packed up the tent.
They hadn’t slept much, and when the driver arrived, they sat close together in the back seat and dozed off again.
The driver dropped them home, and they went upstairs to shower and change. Zuo Chi came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel, noticing some red marks on his neck and arms, struggling with what to wear to cover them.
He chose a long-sleeved shirt, which Sheng Li vetoed. “It’s so hot in August. Who wears long sleeves? You’re giving yourself away.”
“Look who’s talking.” Zuo Chi gave him a sideways glance. “Whose fault is that?”
“My fault.” Sheng Li admitted, smiling all the while.
Zuo Chi still changed into a short-sleeved shirt, planning to wear a suit jacket at the office. Before leaving, he put on a bite-proof collar, the one Cheng Xiangwan had given him, made of studs and metal chains. It looked sexy on his slender, fair neck.
Sheng Li’s eyes were fixed on him. “How come I’ve never seen this one before?”
Zuo Chi: “Cheng Xiangwan gave it to me.”
Sheng Li hummed. “He has good taste. This collar suits you.”
Zuo Chi’s hand brushed Sheng Li’s chin, teasing like petting an animal. “Then tonight… you take it off.”
They left together, each heading to their own company to start a new day.
Zuo Chi successfully signed the contract in the morning and visited two construction sites in the afternoon before returning to the office for a meeting.
Zuo Chi had a good relationship with his company’s employees, but he always had a serious look on his face when discussing work, which made everyone afraid to be careless. However, that day was different. Zuo Chi’s eyes were a bit red, and his gaze was less sharp when he looked at people. His voice was hoarse, and his reprimands were not as harsh, causing several subordinates to secretly glance at him.
Zuo Chi was a little puzzled. “What’s wrong?”
The subordinates shook their heads repeatedly.
Zuo Chi lowered his gaze to confirm that he was dressed neatly and properly, with no buttons undone on his shirt and no bite marks visible on his collarbone. He coughed twice and continued to analyze the reports.
After the meeting, he sent a message to Sheng Li: “I need to work late.”
Sheng Li: “What do you want for dinner?”
Zuo Chi: “Anything is fine.”
Sheng Li: “Then I’ll go to the supermarket first and pick you up later.”
Zuo Chi: “Okay.”
When Zuo Chi finished his work and walked out of the company building, he saw that familiar car. He didn’t need someone to pick him up for work, but it felt nice to have someone waiting for him.
He walked softly to the car and found Sheng Li looking up recipes online. “You’re cramming last minute?”
Sheng Li put down the iPad and opened the car door. “Tonight we’re having shrimp tofu steamed eggs and three-flavor mushroom soup.”
Zuo Chi said, “Sounds good.”
Sheng Li raised an eyebrow. “It will taste even better!”
The car drove to the apartment’s parking lot, and they took the elevator upstairs. Zuo Chi carried his briefcase while Sheng Li carried a bag of groceries, chatting and laughing all the way.
Zuo Chi asked, “Do you want to move?”
Sheng Li: “Why move?”
Zuo Chi: “Isn’t this place a bit small? I don’t want to wrong our dear young master.”
“Am I that spoiled?” Sheng Li thought for a moment. “But the bedroom is indeed small. I want a bigger bed.”
Zuo Chi laughed, realizing Sheng Li had the same thought as him. “Yes, and it’s also a bit far from your company.”
They discussed buying a new house or moving into the previously prepared wedding house, talking about what needed to be renovated and what furniture needed to be added.
The future was worth looking forward to, and the present wasn’t bad either. Sheng Li didn’t care where they lived as long as it was with Zuo Chi; that place would be called “home.”
He opened the door. “We’re home.”
