PTGWD Chapter 16: In Bed

For them, there's only symbiosis or mutual destruction.

Until a string of fluent, beautiful English slowly emerged on the skin.

Fang Xingzhou stopped his actions, looked at the name that couldn’t be erased, and slightly squinted his eyes, as if drunk. A blush spread from his cheeks to his ears and then to his collarbone.

Lu Jianchuan felt the same. They looked at the letters, breathing heavily, their minds heated, immersed in the extreme joy brought by each other, even though they hadn’t done anything, just lying together.

“Very beautiful…” Lu Jianchuan murmured.

Fang Xingzhou smiled, gently kissed the heated skin next to the tattoo, then left the bed, slowly taking off his lower body loungewear, showing his part to Lu Jianchuan.

As the cotton pants fell to the carpet, Lu Jianchuan’s heartbeat skipped a few beats, his gaze fixated on the root of Fang Xingzhou’s legs.

On the satin-like white and delicate skin, Lu Jianchuan’s name in English was engraved, slightly red at the moment, not yet healed.

Lu Jianchuan’s heart started pounding, clearly not drunk, yet a strong intoxication surged to his head. He stared at that place, lips slightly parted, unable to speak.

Fang Xingzhou took off his glasses, revealing his beautiful eyes hidden behind the lenses. His long, curled eyelashes cast a faint shadow in the light, like butterflies falling on his lower eyelids.

He climbed back beside Lu Jianchuan, bent down as if to kiss, and softly asked, “Do you like it?”

Lu Jianchuan met his lover’s unguarded eyes.

The blood flow sped up, the abdomen nurturing life began to heat up, the brain rapidly secreting substances that regulate happiness, putting all the cells in a state of extreme excitement.

Whether the tail of the human or the tail of the monster hidden within, both lost control in an instant.

Lu Jianchuan was going mad, the excessive love made him not know what to do. Sometimes he even doubted if Fang Xingzhou was really human, or a monster disguised as a human to lure him.

If this was a hunt… Lu Jianchuan lowered his head, kissing the scorching skin engraved with his name.

…he would have been devoured down to his bones long ago, just like the “queen ant”.

Thinking this, he got inexplicably excited again, lifted his head, biting off Fang Xingzhou’s shirt buttons with his teeth, while his fingers stroked his elegant jawline, trying to find traces of the human skin mask, wanting to prove that his lover was a monster like him, who would devour him bite by bite after mating like a female praying mantis.

“Darling, I like you so much, I’m going crazy, what should I do?” he said excitedly. “Are you still hungry? Want to taste my flesh?”

Fang Xingzhou: “…Hmm?”

“I really want to be swallowed into your stomach,” Lu Jianchuan bit off the last button, climbed up, leaned to his ear, “to be digested by your gastric juices into a puddle of slime, then enter your bloodstream, becoming a part of you, never to be separated… That way, we are married, right? No human marriage could be stronger than ours…”

Fang Xingzhou couldn’t help but laugh, kissed his tattoo again as a return, and commented on his strange words: “Little Deer, you are so cute.”

Hearing his laugh, Lu Jianchuan’s abdomen heated even more. The embryo inside him tasted the extreme, endless love from Fang Xingzhou, growing countless tiny root-like tentacles from its small body, swaying, digging into Lu Jianchuan’s nurturing bed.

Intense pain came from his abdomen, making him tense up instantly, his body instinctively resisting wildly, treating it as some kind of dangerous parasitic substance, triggering the immune system to try to kill the danger in the cradle.

But maybe because he had taken in too much energy today, it was surprisingly tenacious, connecting firmly with the host, its roots expanding into the flesh and blood.

Lu Jianchuan broke into a cold sweat, but a satisfied smile formed on his lips. He hugged his lover tighter, his tail slowly advancing, and said in a hoarse voice, “Baby, today I’m a hero citizen… I ask for a extra meal.”

A long, satisfying meal.

Fang Xingzhou was exhausted for two consecutive nights, too tired to even move a finger, but for the first time in a month, he felt peaceful at night, snuggled into his lover’s sweaty embrace, quickly falling asleep without any medication.

It should have been a good night’s sleep, but perhaps due to excessive exercise before sleep, he vaguely felt like he dreamed all night, still entangled crazily with Lu Jianchuan, but subtly different from when awake. The difference was…

A certain male symbol was gone, replaced by tough, flexible, tireless tentacles…

Upon waking, he subconsciously reached out to touch.

——And then touched something familiar.

This touch made Lu Jianchuan open his eyes quickly, looking at Fang Xingzhou with a burning gaze, taking it as the most direct invitation, and excitedly proposed: “Shall we?”

Fang Xingzhou immediately let go, shifted his gaze, and said, “Work.”

The pupils like glass beads dimmed.

“Alright…” Lu Jianchuan hugged him tighter, closed his eyes again, and his voice became lazy, “It’s still early, sleep for another ten minutes.”

Fang Xingzhou looked at the clock. Lu Jianchuan’s judgment was very accurate; there were still ten minutes before the alarm would ring.

But he couldn’t sleep anymore. With the faint light seeping through the curtains, he quietly observed the face of the person beside him.

Within a few seconds, Lu Jianchuan’s breathing became long again. In his sleep, his brows furrowed slightly, as if he was not sleeping soundly, with a rare tired look on his handsome face.

Fang Xingzhou rarely saw fatigue on his face. Even if they mixed all night the previous night, Lu Jianchuan could maintain high spirits, with such abundant energy that Fang Xingzhou often found it unbelievable.

A doctor’s instinct kicked in, and Fang Xingzhou reached out to feel his forehead.

It seemed a bit warm… but within the normal temperature range.

Half asleep, Lu Jianchuan grabbed his hand, put it back under the blanket, muttering vaguely, too sleepy to open his eyes but still thinking about sending his wife to work: “I’ll send you later… no hurry…”

Fang Xingzhou’s hand was held, resting between their abdomens.

It was warm there, like a heating pad, the temperature significantly higher than what a human could generate.

Fang Xingzhou’s heart sank. He withdrew his hand, placing his palm on Lu Jianchuan’s abdomen.

The temperature was over fifty degrees Celsius.

This action seemed to make Lu Jianchuan feel very comfortable. He sighed happily, moved closer, and his lips brushed Fang Xingzhou’s face.

Fang Xingzhou’s brows furrowed deeper. He began checking his entire body, feeling from the cheeks down to the calves, repeatedly confirming that only the abdomen’s temperature was abnormal, everything else was normal.

Even—when his hand stayed there for a long time, it seemed something moved inside.

He pulled his hand back as if electrocuted.

Stunned for half a second, his heart inexplicably started to race. He placed his hand back, and this time, there were no strange movements, as if the earlier sensation was just his illusion.

His brain worked rapidly, searching for possible matching symptoms. But such symptoms were too strange, matching no known disease.

And the feverish person was still blissfully unaware, sleeping soundly. Fang Xingzhou lightly patted his face, softly waking him up: “Do you feel unwell anywhere?”

Lu Jianchuan opened his heavy eyelids, looked at Fang Xingzhou dazedly, slow for a moment: “…What?”

“You seem to have a fever, but it’s not like a normal fever,” Fang Xingzhou tested his forehead again, “How do you feel? Does your stomach hurt? Come to the hospital with me later, I think we need to check if it’s an infection, and get an ultrasound…”

Lu Jianchuan woke up.

He touched his abdomen, instantly understanding the situation.

Feeling good, Lu Jianchuan smiled, let Fang Xingzhou touch him here and there, enjoying being treated as a patient for a while before slowly speaking: “I don’t feel unwell, my stomach doesn’t hurt, what’s wrong, darling? Did you dream of me being sick? Don’t worry, my body is very good, definitely won’t trouble you with a hospital visit.”

Fang Xingzhou looked at him for a few seconds, raising his brows slightly.

He placed his hand back on Lu Jianchuan’s abdomen.

“……”

His pupils contracted slightly, flipping back and forth to confirm, getting the same result each time—

Everything there was normal.

No strange high temperature, no weird movements.

Only Lu Jianchuan’s deliberately tensed abs, perfectly shaped, eight blocks in total, extremely resilient.

Fang Xingzhou was stunned for a long time.

Until the alarm rang, he suddenly snapped back, feeling confused, unable to distinguish if he was awake or dreaming earlier.

He shifted his gaze, meeting Lu Jianchuan’s eyes filled with constant affection.

“Really no discomfort?” he reconfirmed.

“No, just sleepy,” Lu Jianchuan yawned, “What do you want for breakfast? How about Xiao Long Bao from Li Ji?”

Fang Xingzhou still felt something was wrong, his palm resting on his abdomen, uncertain about his own memory.

The two of them looked at each other for a long time. Lu Jianchuan’s lips slowly curved into a smile. His face still carried the look of sleep, and his voice was lazy and sexy as he said, “Don’t look at me like that, I won’t be able to resist stopping you from going to work.”

Fang Xingzhou withdrew his hand and set the matter aside for now, instructing, “If you feel any discomfort, tell me immediately.”

“Okay,” Lu Jianchuan’s smile deepened, “I trust Dr. Fang’s diagnosis.”

Fang Xingzhou lifted the quilt and got up, stepping barefoot on the carpet, planning to go to the bathroom for a shower. He felt the tangible gaze following him, and when he turned around, he saw Lu Jianchuan’s fiery eyes, feeling inexplicably uneasy. He walked back to pull the quilt up for him, saying, “You sleep. I’ll drive myself.”

Hearing this, Lu Jianchuan immediately got up, “No way, I’m taking you.” He then swung his human-like arms and walked briskly to Fang Xingzhou, ignoring his frowning brows, and picked him up by the waist, taking him into the bathroom together.

Half an hour later.

Lu Jianchuan got into the driver’s seat with steaming hot dumplings and soy milk, his cheeks puffed out as he quickly finished his breakfast and started the engine, driving his wife towards humanity’s most terrifying mechanical show—the morning rush hour.

Before the car left the community, he had already finished a bag of dumplings.

In contrast, Fang Xingzhou ate much more elegantly, chewing slowly, quietly, and gracefully.

Every time Fang Xingzhou ate, Lu Jianchuan barely dared to breathe, afraid of disturbing Fang Xingzhou’s delicate eating and causing his already minimal food intake (from a monster’s perspective) to decrease even further.

Thus, the car remained unusually quiet for over ten minutes. Once Fang Xingzhou finished his breakfast, Lu Jianchuan turned on the radio and asked, “Are you full? Want some chocolate? Xingzhou, you’re too skinny. Winter is when animals gain weight, how come you haven’t gained any?”

Fang Xingzhou: “Because I’m a human, not a wild animal.”

Lu Jianchuan was about to say more when the radio switched to the news channel, and the announcer’s clear voice filled the car:

“The night before last, a major terrorist attack occurred at the Bord Hotel. The criminals took the groom of an engagement party hostage and engaged in a fierce gunfight with the police. Nearby residents reported hearing multiple gunshots. Fortunately, our city’s SWAT team had advance information about the attack and set up traps at the scene, capturing the criminals without causing any civilian casualties…”

Lu Jianchuan hadn’t expected the Research Institute to handle the aftermath so well, even releasing a news report.

His heart skipped a beat as he glanced at Fang Xingzhou, whose expression had turned cold, lips pressed into a tight line, making Lu Jianchuan’s heart sink.

“Ahem,” he quickly changed the channel, “The news exaggerates everything. It’s not that scary. They even used the word ‘gunfight’… We live in a society ruled by law.”

Fang Xingzhou remained silent for a while.

Lu Jianchuan was uneasy: “Xingzhou?”

After a long time, he finally heard Fang Xingzhou speak, his voice calm but carrying a deeper, indescribable emotion. He said, “Deer, I know you and the police have hidden many things regarding this matter.

“But I won’t ask further, and you don’t need to explain more. Let’s just consider it an act of bravery.”

Lu Jianchuan opened his mouth, his heart starting to beat restlessly.

“Xingzhou…”

Fang Xingzhou paused briefly, then continued, “However, next time you participate in such an operation, I want you to remember one thing. If you get hurt, I will create the same injury on myself. If you accidentally sacrifice yourself, I will end my life in the same way.”

“This isn’t a threat,” he slightly tilted his head, looking at the driver, “It’s a statement of fact. I love you, and you should know, for us, there’s only symbiosis or mutual destruction.”

Lu Jianchuan’s ears began to ring slightly.

At a red light, he stepped on the brake and turned to meet Fang Xingzhou’s clear, serious eyes. A surge of sweet agitation rose from his heart, giving him goosebumps.

Love.

He savored the ultimate words of affection from his partner, feeling dizzy, and squinted his eyes in happiness.

His abdomen quickly became hot, and something started to throb, weak yet persistent, like the first life born in this world.

“Symbiosis or mutual destruction,” Lu Jianchuan repeated in a strangely ethereal tone, “So romantic, baby. I will definitely remember this and never forget it.”

Remember what Xingzhou said, It’l be tested later.
