Chapter 51
At 6:30 in the morning, Song Linsheng got up on time and made breakfast. After the two of them had breakfast together, Song Linsheng entered the guest room.
At 8:10, Song Linsheng came out.
Shi Nan sat on the sofa and stared at him.
Yesterday had been normal, with the usual personality switch happening. So what about today? Would the normal switching resume?
Song Linsheng also looked at him, their eyes met. Shi Nan couldn’t see any emotion in his eyes.
“Gouzi?” Shi Nan shouted deliberately.
“I’m not your Gouzi, stop calling me that.” Today’s Song Linsheng was quite cold, like the one Shi Nan first met in the conference room, the stern President Song.
He said to Shi Nan: “Get out.”
Shi Nan missed the other version of Song Linsheng at that time.
Shi Nan sneered: “Hey, you’re not pretending anymore?”
A hint of embarrassment flashed across Song Linsheng’s face, but he was very calm. He guessed that Shi Nan would know. After all, as long as another Song Linsheng came out, nothing could be hidden.
When he planned to pretend to be someone yesterday morning, he thought that he would never appear again, and that he would find a way to make himself leave again, truly leave.
But Shi Nan said that he actually missed Song Xiaobai.
That sentence was like a warm meat bun stuffed into a person who had been freezing for several days and nights on a cold winter night and was on the verge of death. It is the hope of life.
‘I could have endured the darkness, if I had never seen the sun.’
Song Linsheng came to the entrance, calmly changed his shoes and picked up the car keys: “Are you going to work?”
Shi Nan also walked over and changed his shoes silently.
Song Linsheng opened the door and turned sideways to let Shi Nan go out first.
As Shi Nan walked past him, he suddenly stopped, tilted his head and kissed him on the lips.
Song Linsheng’s eyebrows shot up, and he stepped back, only to find the wall of the entryway behind him, leaving no room to retreat.
“What are you doing?” Song Linsheng thought Shi Nan had mixed things up again and repeated, “I’m not your Gouzi, get that straight.”
Shi Nan didn’t say anything, walked past him and pressed the button for the elevator.
Song Linsheng was confused by him. After closing the door, he hesitated and walked to him, standing half an arm’s length away from him.
Shi Nan caught a glimpse of him standing at a safe distance from the corner of his eye and sneered in his heart.
They went downstairs and drove to the company together. Shi Nan opened the window and looked at the scenery outside the window. Summer was almost over and autumn was coming soon.
“Song Linsheng.” Shi Nan turned to look at the driver with an expressionless face.
Song Linsheng had been silent because of his guilty conscience. Suddenly when he heard Shi Nan calling him so coldly, his foot almost slammed on the accelerator.
But Song Linsheng was Song Linsheng after all, a master who could keep a straight face even with a knife across his neck. He quickly and calmly responded: “Is something wrong?”
“I just want to tell you a decision of mine.” Shi Nan said.
Song Linsheng’s heart tightened. It couldn’t be because he deliberately pretended to be that person and kissed him yesterday, so Shi Nan decided to break up with him.
Song Linsheng smiled bitterly in his heart. That’s right. His behaviour can be considered despicable, almost like harassment.
What did it matter that he could endure the darkness if he had not seen the sun?
Now he had seen the sun, but his sun wanted to burn him alive.
Song Linsheng pursed his lips and said nothing, with a look of resistance on his face.
Shi Nan looked at him for a while and then said calmly: “I’ve decided to resume a normal life.”
“What?” Song Linsheng couldn’t help but ask.
“That’s what it means literally.” Shi Nan looked ahead. There was some traffic jam on the road at this time. There was a red light ahead, with seventy-five seconds remaining.
“Our current life isn’t normal. I have to deal with two different people every day: the you of the day and the you of the night. It’s exhausting. If this continues, I feel like I’m going to develop a split personality. I can’t handle this life anymore.”
“You want a divorce?” Song Linsheng looked at him sharply, incredulous.
“Divorce?” Shi Nan almost couldn’t hold back his laughter, raising his voice, “You wish.”
The two of them looked at each other. Shi Nan gritted his teeth: “You have entered the grave of marriage and you still want to get out? Dream.”
Song Linsheng first breathed a sigh of relief, and then sighed: “Shi Nan, I want to apologize to you for what happened yesterday. I was wrong. I…”
“Shut up,” Shi Nan interrupted, “I still want to apologize. “I haven’t finished speaking yet. Who said it is your turn to speak?”
Song Linsheng: “…”
The light turned green and the car behind honked. Song Linsheng looked at Shi Nan and did not move.
“Drive.” Shi Nan glanced at him.
Song Linsheng stepped on the accelerator.
“I have decided to treat you both equally from now on.” Shi Nan announced his decision.
“What?” Despite being so smart, Song Linsheng didn’t understand what Shi Nan wanted to express.
“What I mean is that from now on, both of you are the same person in my eyes, understand? I will live a normal life in the future, and you and he will start to cooperate with me, understand?”
They arrived downstairs in the company. Song Linsheng stopped the car and turned to look at Shi Nan: “I don’t understand what you mean.”
Shi Nan also turned her head and looked at him with a serious face: “Song Linsheng, I’m married. I have a partner, and the partner is one person.”
“I want to live a normal married life. I don’t want to guess who is who during the day and night. I want to hold hands when I want to hold hands, hug when I want to hug, kiss when I want to kiss. I want to be open and honest, not a player or a jerk.”
“Including having sex.” Shi Nan poked Song Linsheng’s chest with his fingertips, “I am a normal man and I have physical needs. So from now on you two are the same person in my eyes, and I won’t care about or ask anything else, just play your role well. ”
“My role?” Song Linsheng repeated with a blank mind.
“That’s it…” Shi Nan leaned over and bit Song Linsheng’s lips, kissing him hard. “You can’t hide when I kiss you. You must respond.”
Shi Nan’s impassioned speech ended with a fierce kiss. He stopped talking and jumped out of the car.
After getting out of the car and facing the rising sun, Shi Nan took a deep breath. This move could only be used against Song Xiaobai, who was still ignorant about feelings, but it was not good for the one at night.
Song Linsheng was disturbed by Shi Nan’s words in the morning. He even got distracted several times during the meeting, which had never happened before.
Today’s meeting was attended by middle-level and above leaders, just like the meeting when Song Linsheng and Shi Nan met for the first time.
Shi Nan sat at the back and Song Linsheng sat in the middle of the conference table.
“Mr. Song?” The secretary called him quietly.
Song Linsheng suddenly came to his senses and said calmly: “Continue.”
The culprit who made Song Linsheng distracted was at the back, tapping his fingers on the keyboard.
Song Linsheng couldn’t help but look over, hold hands, hug, kiss, go to bed?
This was something Song Linsheng couldn’t even imagine.
After thinking about it, Song Linsheng felt that Shi Nan might be sick and not very clear-headed.
When Xiang Yang brought cold medicine and antipyretic medicine to Shi Nan, Shi Nan was conveying the spirit of the president’s meeting to the people in his department. Xiang Yang leaned against the door and listened for a while. After Shi Nan finished the meeting, Xiang Yang gave him the medicine.
Shi Nan was stunned for a moment: “Why are you giving me medicine?”
“My brother said you might be seriously ill.” Xiang Yang yawned.
Shi Nan: “…Your brother is seriously ill.” The illness was very serious.
“I have something to do at noon, so I won’t buy food for you two. You can solve it yourself.” Xiang Yang told him.
“Are you in trouble again?” Shi Nan frowned, “Why are you always in trouble? Are you a bad learner?”
“Am I a bad learner?” Xiang Yang snorted disdainfully, pointing to his bald head, ” I was not a good person to begin with, you know?”
Shi Nan: “…” you’re all sick.
Xiang Yang drove to the hospital, dangled his car keys and walked in. The girl at the front desk smiled sweetly when she saw him: “Do you have an appointment, sir?”
“An appointment?” Xiang Yang raised an eyebrow, “Are you new here?”
“Yes. It’s my third day working here today.”
“Oh.” Xiang Yang sat down on the bench and raised his long legs, “I don’t have an appointment, so I won’t embarrass you. I’ll wait here.”
The girl at the front desk seemed a little embarrassed. They were all guests, so she didn’t know what to say. She went to the tea room and poured a cup of tea. She glanced at Xiang Yang and said “thank you”.
In fact, the bald little cool guy looked scary at first glance, but he looked quite handsome if looked closely.
Xiang Yang sat here and played three games. When it was lunch time, the patients were almost gone, and the doctors inside also came out to have lunch one after another.
Mei Qingyi originally wanted to order takeout, but the last customer left a little late, so after seeing off the guests, he took his coat and went out to eat. As soon as he came out, he saw the little cool guy half leaning on the bench with his legs crossed.
“You are here. Why didn’t you go in?” Mei Qingyi came over, reached out and hit Xiang Yang on the head, hitting his triangular scar.
“They said I didn’t make an appointment.” Xiang Yang stood up and stretched.
“You could call me.” Mei Qingyi said.
Xiang Yang turned his head: “It’s okay, it’s okay to wait.”
“Come in with me.” Mei Qingyi turned around and walked to the office. Xiang Yang followed. Passing by the tea room, Mei Qingyi went in and took a bottle of Coke and handed it to Xiang Yang. Xiang Yang unscrewed the cap and drank most of the contents of the bottle in one breath.
Entering the office, Xiang Yang casually plopped down in Mei Qingyi’s chair, stretching his long legs onto the desk.
Meanwhile, Mei Qingyi hung up his coat and sat down in the guest chair opposite Xiang Yang.
“How have you been lately?” Mei Qingyi asked.
“Not bad,” Xiang Yang replied, shaking his legs. “But my mood has been a bit unstable at times.”
Mei Qingyi frowned slightly. “Can you specify when this happens?”
Xiang Yang slapped the table and looked at Mei Qingyi. “When I run into noobs while gaming, I feel extremely unstable mentally and want to take a knife and kill someone.”
Mei Qingyi: “…”
“My rank has been dropping continuously lately. I don’t think I can keep my emotions in check anymore. What should I do? How about you hypnotize me? If I play a game in my sleep, do you think I’ll be unstoppable?”
Mei Qingyi stretched out his hand and flicked the scar near Xiang Yang’s eye. “You seem fine to me. Come on, let’s go eat.”
“Only you can touch my scar. Anyone else would get a slap,” Xiang Yang said as he stood up. “I want noodles.”
Mei Qingyi eyed him. “Did you come here just for the noodles?”
Xiang Yang chuckled.
Mei Qingyi’s hospital was a private institution with its own cafeteria, where the noodles were Xiang Yang’s favorite. However, the cafeteria was only accessible to internal staff with a card.
On the way to eat, they ran into a few familiar faces. “Your brother’s here again,” they remarked with smiles.
Mei Qingyi smiled and nodded. “Here for a free meal.”
“I’m not here for a free meal,” Xiang Yang muttered. “And I’m not your brother.”
“Such a nitpicky kid,” Mei Qingyi chuckled, getting two bowls of noodles for Xiang Yang.
While eating, Mei Qingyi asked, “How’s your brother doing lately?”
Xiang Yang slurped a mouthful of noodles before replying, “Which brother? I have two.”
“Both.”
“Brother Ting is filming. He seemed a bit down recently, but nothing out of the ordinary. As for my other brother, he’s fine, no problems at all.”
“That’s good,” Mei Qingyi said, wiping the soup off Xiang Yang’s mouth with a napkin. “Remind Ying Ting to come for his check-up.”
“Got it.” Xiang Yang eyed Mei Qingyi’s untouched bowl. “Are you going to eat that?”
Mei Qingyi pushed it over to him. “You eat it.”
As Xiang Yang started on the second bowl, Mei Qingyi asked again, “Are you sure your brother doesn’t have any issues at all?”
“Why do you keep asking?” Xiang Yang looked up sharply. “Every time I come, you ask the same thing. I’m telling you, Ying Ting and I have psychological issues, but my brother doesn’t. He’s not going to come see you. Do you have some sort of feelings for him?”
Xiang Yang narrowed his eyes and put down his chopsticks. “Dr. Mei, I’m warning you. My brother has someone he likes, and they’re living together happily. Don’t try to interfere.”
“Your brother’s in a relationship?” Mei Qingyi was shocked.
Years ago, the police rescued a group of kidnapped children who had suffered severe psychological trauma. Mei Qingyi’s father, a psychologist, went to assist them, and Mei Qingyi, who was on summer break, accompanied him.
Back then, Song Linsheng was about the same age as Mei Qingyi, but his face was cold, and his eyes were filled with harshness and coldness. Mei Qingyi’s father talked with him for several hours and concluded that the boy had no psychological issues.
However, later in private, his father told Mei Qingyi that the boy was not quite normal. Despite all tests showing normal results, his father couldn’t find any cracks or entry points to his psyche, which was unusual for someone who had endured such extreme abuse.
Over the years, his father continued to provide psychological counseling to those orphans. After Mei Qingyi graduated, many of them transitioned to his care, including Xiang Yang and Ying Ting.
But apart from the mandatory psychological checks at the orphanage, Song Linsheng had never undergone any further psychological evaluation after leaving.
Mei Qingyi remembered his father’s words vividly: children who emerged from such extreme environments often had psychological disorders, even the shortest-term residents like Xiang Yang, who developed claustrophobia and had nightmares. Song Linsheng, who had spent years there, must have been affected even more deeply.
“My brother’s old enough now. Why can’t he have a relationship?” Xiang Yang grew more suspicious. “You’re no spring chicken either. You haven’t dated anyone. Do you have feelings for my brother?”
“I’m telling you, he and his partner are doing great. Don’t get any ideas.”
Mei Qingyi became thoughtful. Song Linsheng was highly guarded. What kind of person could manage to be in a relationship with him? He was genuinely curious now.
T/N : I realised later that Mei Qingyi is a male, I have changed the pronouns referring Mei Qingyi to ‘he’, but if there are any mistakes left, please let me know.
