“Ah…”

As Heewoon put down his utensils, Kangwoo shared some of his steak on Heewoon’s plate.

“I’m telling you to eat a lot. You’ll overdo it again today.”

As Heewoon briefly pondered the meaning behind Kangwoo’s words, he soon became pale. While it didn’t matter whether it was a weekday or weekend to have sex with Seo Kangwoo, they tended to push it to the limit on the weekends.

Kangwoo burst into laughter as he saw Heewoon’s face. He briefly got up, squeezed Heewoon’s cheek hard, then sat back down.

After their stomachs were somewhat full, they slowed down their eating pace a little. Sipping the wine together, they discussed their day. Unlike usual, Heewoon had to be careful since there were parts he had to conceal. He just had to avoid giving any hint that he was hiding something, but he didn’t need to lie, so it wasn’t really that hard.

Finally, it was time for dessert.

Knock, knock. As soon as Heewoon heard the knocking, his heart began to beat rapidly.

“Yes.”

Kangwoo answered loudly, and the door opened. Heewoon swallowed dryly as he watched the staff bringing in a tray. When he couldn’t see the cake, he felt a moment of panic, but then he saw another tray being brought in behind the staff clearing away the empty plates. Heewoon relaxed a bit when he made eye contact with the staff member carefully pushing the tray with the cake on it, candles lit.

After the desserts were placed on the now-clean table, the cake with the lit candles was placed last. Kangwoo, who had been playfully tapping Heewoon’s foot and paying no attention to the staff, glanced at the cake.

“What’s this?”

Ignoring his racing heartbeat from the tension, Heewoon answered calmly.

“A birthday cake.”

Kangwoo nodded.

“I figured that one. But the cake looks like it was dropped on its side.”

A silence fell after Kangwoo’s sharp remark.

“…”

Heewoon looked at the cake quietly and slowly rotated it. Maybe Kangwoo said that because he had seen the letters sideways.

“…Sunbae, were you the one who made this?”

Finally, Kangwoo asked, and the staff, who had been watching nervously, quickly rolled the trays away.

“Yeah, I made it.”

Heewoon’s expression turned slightly sad as he looked at the flickering candles. Kangwoo, uncharacteristically at a loss for words, examined the cake closely before speaking.

“I said that earlier because I couldn’t see the letters properly. But looking at the cake now, it’s pretty.”

“Yeah.”

“When did you make something like this?”

“Yesterday and today, during my lunch.”

Kangwoo furrowed his brow slightly. I see. You must not have eaten lunch properly. But instead of saying more, he simply said.

“Thank you.”

Heewoon smiled slightly, his cheeks turning rosy. Kangwoo alternated his gaze between the cake, with the barely legible letters, and Heewoon’s flushed face. His lips curved into a gentle smile.

“Can I blow out the candles?”

“Uh… should I sing first?”

As Kangwoo made a move to blow out the candles, Heewoon mumbled flusteredly. When Kangwoo asked, “Sing?” Heewoon started singing impulsively.

“Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you—”

Heewoon hadn’t planned to sing. Feeling even more embarrassed under Seo Kangwoo’s gaze, he continued.

“Happy birthday, dear Kangwoo— Happy birthday to you—”

After hastily finishing the song, Heewoon clapped his hands. But Kangwoo just kept staring at him. Heewoon glanced around nervously and asked.

“Aren’t you going to make a wish?”

“Ah, a wish.”

Kangwoo, who had been in a daze, clasped his hands together. He then looked down slightly and, gazing at the flickering candles, said.

“Please get Woo Heewoon fired.”

“…”

Heewoon’s mouth opened in surprise, and Kangwoo showed him a playful smile. He blew out the candles with a gentle puff and rested his chin on his hand. After a brief silence, he spoke.

“I told you, you can stop being adorable.”

Kangwoo’s gaze was fixed on Heewoon, making him feel the intensity of the stare on his skin. Heewoon pretended to inspect the cake, turning it this way and that. Then a low voice reached his ears.

“I’ve been feeling a bit strange lately.”

“Why?”

Heewoon looked up and glanced at him.

“It feels like someone’s playing tricks on me.”

Kangwoo, with his chin resting on his hand, was looking intently at Heewoon. Heewoon met Kangwoo’s gaze with confusion, his expression gradually stiffening. Then, Kangwoo let out a small laugh.

“I don’t know what you’re thinking, but that’s not it.”

“Ah..”

“You really look stupid.”

Come here. Kangwoo said, pulling Heewoon by the wrist. Heewoon was half-forced to get up and sit next to Kangwoo, who immediately drew him into a firm embrace.

“I had been wondering what you were hiding this time.”

Kangwoo whispered against Heewoon’s cheek. Heewoon’s eyes widened in surprise.

“You knew about it?”

“I didn’t know it was a cake. It was annoying how you don’t listen to me, but you were so clumsy that I just let you do as you please.”

“Was I that obvious…”

Heewoon awkwardly scratched his neck. Kangwoo pushed his hand away and gently rubbed the back of his neck, making Heewoon roll his eyes and ask.

“Shall we eat the cake, Kangwoo?”

“No. Eat this first.”

Kangwoo placed a pretty dessert on a small plate in front of Heewoon and handed him a fork. He also pushed all of his own portion toward Heewoon.

“Since you skipped lunch, you have to eat twice as much.”

The hand that was rubbing Heewoon’s cheek momentarily put on more pressure. When Heewoon looked up, Kangwoo smiled and kissed the cheek where his hand had left a mark. “Eat,” Kangwoo said in a gentle voice. Heewoon nodded and cut the artistic dessert into a small piece, putting it in his mouth.

Perhaps because of the earlier nervousness, Heewoon felt his hunger returning. He began eating faster, quickly finishing both his and Kangwoo’s portions.

Kangwoo watched Heewoon eat like a starving person and laughed in disbelief. He patted Heewoon’s head affectionately and said.

“From now on, let’s not have any surprise events between us.”

Heewoon looked up at him, and Kangwoo wiped the corner of his mouth with his thumb and added casually.

“If you make me have any misunderstanding, I might make you cry again.”

Even though he already had made him cry plenty of times so far. Kangwoo chuckled, seeing Heewoon’s expression clearly showing his thoughts. After laughing for a while, he said.

“Well. I don’t mind feeling like right now.”

His voice was still tinged with laughter but sounded straightforward.

“I won’t do it again, either. It’s too…”

“Scary?”

Kangwoo continued Heewoon’s words as he had paused and hesitated to find the right words. Heewoon nodded as he looked at Kangwoo’s curved-eyes smile. Heewoon was having a hard time from his heart pounding too hard, though it wasn’t entirely out of fear.

Watching Kangwoo start taking pictures of the cake, Heewoon asked.

“Has anyone ever made a cake for you?”

Kangwoo, who had been smiling while taking photos from various angles, looked up. His smile deepened as he looked at Heewoon.

“No one has.”

“I thought that would be so.”

“What do you mean by that?”

Kangwoo raised an eyebrow, and Heewoon, flustered, waved his hands. Kangwoo caught Heewoon’s hastily flailing hand, putting the fingers in his mouth. Heewoon closed his eyes tightly, expecting a hard bite, but opened them slightly when he felt something gentle wrapping around his fingers.

“It doesn’t taste like cake.”

“Stop joking around…”

After giving a peck on Heewoon’s fingertip, Kangwoo chuckled and stood up.

“Huh, are you not going to eat the cake?”

“This one’s mine.”

Turning his back to Heewoon, Kangwoo put the cake into a box. He quickly helped Heewoon up, dressed him in his outerwear, and wrapped a scarf around him. When the haphazardly wrapped scarf covered his eyes, Heewoon pulled it down slightly.

Kangwoo left a kiss on Heewoon’s clear eyes above the scarf and grabbed his wrist, pulling him along. Heewoon looked up at Kangwoo, puzzled.

“Why? Do you have something urgent?”

“Yeah. I might end up taking off your pants here, Sunbae.”

“…Let’s go quickly.”

Kangwoo laughed roughly and quickened his pace again. Heewoon, also feeling the urgency, followed suit. Since Kangwoo had been drinking wine, they had a driver to drive their car hastily. After the long ride, their car finally arrived home.

However, when Heewoon subtly asked which of the gifts he received was the best, Kangwoo ended up undressing Heewoon right at the entrance.

After an intense lovemaking and a shower, Heewoon and Kangwoo spent time in bed. With only soft lighting on, Kangwoo read a book while Heewoon lay with his head on Kangwoo’s thigh, watching a movie. Having seen the movie before, Heewoon found it hard to concentrate, and the warmth from the blanket and Kangwoo’s body made him feel cozy.

Yawning lazily, Heewoon suddenly opened his eyes wide. The sight of the flowers, which had always been in the same spot, caught his attention.
