ARIWLBBC Chapter 66

The End of Old Leopard

Seeing White Cat lost in thought, the parrot flapped its bald wings. “There are plenty of revelations in the resources I sent you. Take your time to look.”

With a heavy heart, White Cat opened the next video. Three minutes later, a pop-up suddenly appeared in the middle of the projection.

White Cat looked up, gazing silently at the bald parrot.

Knew this bald bird wouldn’t be so kind as to share resources without a catch, and here it was, watching while I dilly-dallied!

Capitalist exploiter!

After watching several segments of the recordings, an uneasy White Cat stared blankly for a while. Their gaze involuntarily shifted to the perception board detector. As soon as that detector lit up, they would have to carry the new perception board and install it in front of that person. If they trembled or showed any wrong expression, if the other party noticed any clues…

Would they be silenced?

Anxious and nervous, White Cat subconsciously began grooming, under the heightened tension. They wondered if it was just their imagination that they seemed to have licked more fur today.

Could it be… they were going bald too?

A spotted bald White Cat, big belly and small eyes, walking slowly—would their wife find them repulsive and divorce them?!

White Cat looked at the bald parrot opposite in horror. If they ended up bald like that, wouldn’t they become a hairless cat! Completely changed species!

A wave of anxiety swept over White Cat, who frowned in distress. He stopped doing anything else, lying dejectedly in front of the detector, sighing heavily.

The immense psychological pressure weighed down on both the cat and the bird in the office. The bald parrot glanced up at the sprawled-out White Cat, his bird eyes filled with some regret.

The impact of those videos on him exceeded his expectations.

A young cat should be carefree, fearless, nimble, and full of energy. But he had ruined a good cat for the sake of a VIP fee.

They barely managed to get through the day, and when it was finally time to leave, White Cat heaved a long sigh of relief. He got up, listlessly bid farewell to the parrot, who frowned at the detector that hadn’t lit up once, sensing something unusual.

There was something fishy going on!

The bald parrot quickly flew to the Chief’s office and lightly pressed the visitor’s bell with his bare wing tip.

Gu Gu stared at the projection of the bald bird, his gaze fixated on the bird’s wings.

When faced with a whole chicken, Gu Gu’s favorite part was the wings—cola chicken wings, honey-glazed chicken wings, spicy chicken wings, roasted chicken wings—absolutely delicious!

Gu Gu swallowed and turned his head to look at the bird in the projection, extending a leopard paw to scratch a few times, causing the bird’s projection to blur.

“That’s the Minister of Finance!” Scepter almost jumped out of Gu Gu’s pocket. “Damn, he probably noticed something!”

“This bald bird is the Minister of Finance?” Gu Gu asked in awe. “Birds are this powerful these days?”

“He’s a parrot, very respected among the birds, but he’s always had issues with the Chief. He even uses a gray ID online to call the Chief ‘Old Virgin Leopard!'” Scepter said indignantly.

“Old Virgin Leopard?” Bo Ge frowned. How could anyone call the leopard that!

“He does his job very well. Not a single credit point discrepancy occurs under his watch. And he’s very detail-oriented, with a sensitive bird heart.”

“Chief, I know you’re in there. I have something very important to discuss with you,” the bald parrot said, straightening his few remaining feathers.

What to do now?

Bo Ge squinted at the parrot’s projection.

The Chief’s office door opened, the golden-orange sunset casting a human-shaped silhouette. The light was so bright that the bald parrot had to side-step and raise a wing to shield his eyes. His years of experience told him that this person wasn’t the Old Leopard.

The Old Leopard never answered the door himself. He would sit in his smart chair, calmly listening to reports, the faster the better, ideally until the bird’s tongue cramped.

As the sunlight receded, the parrot looked up and finally saw the person clearly.

It was a young boy, with milk-white skin, black hair, and black eyes, looking like an adorable porcelain doll. The boy smiled at him, a pure and beautiful smile.

“Who are you…” the parrot began, unsure of the boy’s presence here.

“I’m here secretly, don’t tell Shuang Shuang,” the boy said, quickly pulling the parrot into the room. After looking around to ensure no one was watching, he swiftly closed the office door.

The moment the parrot touched the boy, he felt a sudden stir in his heart. This sense of familiarity and warmth, as if he had once slept peacefully in this person’s hands as a chick, made the parrot realize instantly.

This was a human! A precious human!

However, the parrot fell into deeper confusion. How could a human be here with the Black Pearl’s top-notch security? And who was this “Shuang Shuang” the boy mentioned?

“The staff told me Shuang Shuang just left to attend to something,” the boy said as he pulled the bald parrot onto the sofa. His expression carried a hint of regret. “If Shuang Shuang finds out I came here without his permission, he’ll definitely be angry.”

“Shuang Shuang?” the bald parrot couldn’t help but ask.

“Yeah,” the boy innocently replied, looking at the bald parrot, reaching out to pet it, only to be coldly avoided by the parrot.

“You should know Shuang Shuang, right? the staff says everyone here knows him. He’s my prospective spouse, and we’re getting married soon,” the boy said, his face lighting up with happiness.

“Married, prospective spouse…” the bald parrot stared blankly at the boy, suddenly recalling something.

He almost forgot—Old Virgin Leopard’s name was Lie Beishuang. He had been so used to hearing him referred to as Chief Old Virgin Leopard that he had actually forgotten his real name.

“You’re… the Chief’s prospective spouse?” The bald parrot’s bird eyes widened, emanating an air of disbelief from head to toe.

“Yeah,” the boy shyly nodded.

“How is that possible… he…” The bald parrot was thrown into confusion. If he remembered correctly, Old Virgin Leopard was supposed to live out his days alone!

“It was the Marriage Matching System that paired us,” the boy explained, afraid the parrot wouldn’t believe him. He retrieved the information from his light brain and displayed it to the parrot. “We’ve been talking for a while now, and we’re about to get married.”

“No wonder…” The parrot connected the dots between past events and recent developments in his mind, suddenly understanding.

No wonder Old Virgin Leopard had suddenly taken such a long vacation; no wonder he returned looking so gloomy and with changes in his eye color; no wonder he hadn’t damaged the perception board today…

Damn, he had actually been matched with a rare human and was about to get married!

Though he was a leopard, he clearly had some incredible luck!

“Ah, I wish you both happiness,” the bald parrot was greatly shaken, feeling a bit unsteady on his feet.

“Thank you,” the boy smiled joyfully, seeing the parrot’s staggering appearance. He quickly reached out to support the bald parrot, his face showing concern. “What’s wrong with you?”

“I… I’m just a bit surprised,” the parrot replied, this time not avoiding the boy’s touch, letting him be held and comforted on his lap.

“I noticed earlier that you’re losing a lot of feathers,” the boy gently stroked the parrot with his fingers. “Relax a bit, don’t be too nervous.”

Human comfort had always been highly sought after by anthropomorphic creatures. Being petted by such an adorable human, the bald parrot sprawled comfortably on the boy’s lap, involuntarily relaxing its claws.

The boy’s touch was gentle, and the bald parrot couldn’t help but tilt his neck as Bo Ge’s fingers found a protruding bone-like button beneath the parrot’s chin, much like a small switch. Bo Ge kept touching the “button,” and the parrot almost blissfully turned over.

Handling a bald parrot was a first for Bo Ge. With sparse feathers, he had to be careful not to accidentally pull any out.

In a previous life, Bo Ge had read some news about parrots and knew that the larger the parrot, the smarter it tended to be. Despite lacking feathers, this parrot was about the size of a roasted chicken in terms of its meatiness.

Larger parrots were highly intelligent and emotionally sensitive. When anxious, they tended to pluck their own feathers. Like most living beings, the richer their emotional life, the smarter and longer-lived they tended to be, yet also more prone to emotional whirlpools—perhaps embodying the saying “deep emotions shorten life, great wisdom brings suffering.”

The parrot’s head moved with the boy’s hand, pecking tenderly at Bo Ge’s fingernails, displaying an immense attachment.

Bo Ge noticed the parrot comfortably closing its eyes, seeming drowsy on the sofa.

“Are you feeling sleepy?” Bo Ge leaned down, softly coaxing the bald parrot. “After work, rest well, okay?”

The bald parrot lazily responded, “Okay…”

Bo Ge lifted the bald parrot, left the office, and, after asking a robot, found the location of the Ministry of Finance’s office. He carefully placed the parrot on an intelligent chair.

Gu Gu cautiously withdrew his hand, and his bald wing tip suddenly brushed against Bo Ge’s finger.

“You…” The bald parrot hesitated, then said, “Have you really thought this through?”

“Thought through what?” Bo Ge was puzzled.

“I mean, marrying him,” the bald parrot hesitated. “This is a… big deal.”

“Of course.” Bo Ge looked at the parrot, his eyes flickering as he contemplated changing the nickname “Old Virgin Leopard.”

“After all, we’ve…,” the boy shyly bowed his head, attempting a posture, fidgeting with his clothes. “He’s just too charming, I can’t resist.”

The bald parrot looked at the boy in shock.

Too charming? Was he really talking about him? Is this real?

The bald parrot was bewildered, his head buzzing.

Old Virgin Leopard… he’s really…?

The bald parrot glanced at the boy and quietly pinched himself with his claws to confirm he wasn’t dreaming.

This news was too shocking, leaving the bald parrot unable to accept it for a moment.

A successful marriage match, dating, marriage, offspring—these were things that happened to ordinary anthropomorphic creatures. How could they happen so smoothly, without obstacles or suspense, and happen to him?

This… defied common sense, didn’t it?

Also, hadn’t Laplace predicted this? He was supposed to live out his days alone. How could such an adorable human suddenly appear by his side, and… be charmed by him enough to do what needed to be done?

Old Virgin Leopard… clearly into younger partners, and he did it so discreetly. If the boy hadn’t innocently confessed, who else would have known?

But this could also be a good thing. At least he no longer had to worry about his uncontrollable mating season. Humans were universally recognized as the best soothers for anthropomorphic beings.

“How old are you?” The bald parrot’s voice trembled.

“I just came of age recently,” the boy smiled openly, showing no sign of realizing Old Virgin Leopard had taken advantage of him.

“Do you understand what marriage means?” The bald parrot frowned, concerned. “You’re too young to bear the responsibilities of a family, especially with your special status as a spouse. Have you thought about how you’ll live in the future?”

“Just like now,” the boy replied casually.

“You should read ‘Memoirs of the Chief’s Lady,’ then you’ll understand,” the bald parrot extended its leg ring and gently tapped Bo Ge’s light brain, looking compassionate. “I’ll give you a discount.”
