ABV Chapter 95

Brighter than the stars in the sky

February 9th, New Year’s Eve.1Lunar New Years Eve

This year, Chu Yinlong rejected all invitations during this period and took Jiang Dao back to Xiang’s house.

Although Jiang Dao had already crossed paths with Xiang Yuancheng and Lu Xiaorong, this meeting was the real meeting with the parents. It also coincides with Chinese New Year, so the occasion had even more meaning.

Lu Zhengrong also came with her children, the old lady of the Lu family, and her husband who had just finished a closed experiment. Together with Xiang Yunru, the family members were all together for a rare gathering.

Jiang Dao is not easily nervous, so he greeted his elders generously, and also met Chu Yinlong’s cousins.

Because of the mess with the Qin family before, everyone knew his origin and backstory. When Tianqin Capital was liquidated, Xiang Yuancheng helped block some troublesome matters, so no one asked about Jiang Dao’s history, and focused on his work.

After meeting the family, Jiang Dao realized that Lu Zhengrong’s husband Liu Wenxi actually studies nuclear fusion. On the surface he seems out of tune with this family, but in fact he is very respected.

The old lady of the Lu family is a fashionable and enlightened old lady. Apart from being very concerned about when Jiang Dao and Chu Yinlong will get married, she had no objection to their relationship.

“Xiao Dao, I’m getting old and looking forward to seeing my grandchildren get married and start a family. You have to get things done quickly, and make me happy!” The old lady took Jiang Dao’s hand and said with a smile, “I don’t know what these three broken children in my family think. They’re already so old but don’t think of finding someone. I don’t think there’s much hope…”

Chu Yinlong’s male cousin2they’re never given names and are twins, so the next part may sound a little weird when swapping between cousins raised his head from the tablet and pushed down his glasses: “Grandma, you’ve arranged blind dates for me before. But you also know that when I start a project, I won’t see anyone for a month or two. It’s best not to delay the other party.”

The old lady glared at him: “Projects this, projects that, I haven’t seen you bring back a female colleague either!”

He said lightly: “…There are only two women in our research institute, and they are both married, and their children will be starting school soon. Where do I find a female colleague?”

Seeing his sister gloating beside him, he quickly tossed the hot potato away: “Yunyun’s construction company has so many men, she hasn’t brought back her boyfriend yet.”

Suddenly cued, Chu Yinlong’s female cousin was suddenly angry. She raised her hand and rolled up her sleeves: “Come here, I’m going to fight with you!”

Her twin simply said “My hand is for droppers, which is different from the one you use to carry cement. If you can, fight with Brother Chu instead!”

After a few words, the two of them began arguing again, not looking like outstanding youths in their twenties, but like three-year-old children who haven’t grown up.

Jiang Dao asked Chu Yinlong quietly: “I thought your cousins would have something to do with the entertainment and fashion circle. Why does it sound like they both entered other industries?”

Chu Yinlong laughed: “Because when I was a child actor, my aunt had me get up at 5:30 every day to exercise. When I got home from school, I had to practice lines, and wasn’t allowed to eat greasy or spicy food. I also had to practice every night before going to bed… They were scared, and decided never to enter the film and television industry.”

When his cousin heard this, he pushed his glasses again. “It’s because you had poor grades. I felt that acting affected my studies and would definitely be rejected by dad, so I gave up.”

His twin immediately added: “Forget it! You loved fried chicken so much when you were young, and you were so fat that acting would be impossible.”

“You say this as if you don’t like fried chicken! You still like milk tea!”

Chu Yinlong leaned into Jiang Dao’s ear and said, “They liked to show off fried chicken and milk tea in front of me. Although I had already left the temple at that time, I still had to control my diet. Once I was so angry that I beat them up.”

Cousin x2: …

Old Mrs. Lu took Jiang Dao’s hand and smiled: “So, when are you two going to get married?”

Jiang Dao raised his forehead speechlessly.

How could this old lady still remember the wedding after the topic had already gone crooked?

A large family got together for a New Year’s Eve dinner. The next day, on the first day of the new year, they blessed each other again, gave each other gifts, and then went back to their own small worlds.

At the end of February, the entire cast of “Ghost Face Bottle” was confirmed, and shooting the makeup photos was completed as scheduled.

On March 6th, filming officially started.

Due to seasonal issues, they will focus on filming outdoor shots first, then move indoors for close-ups and the rest of it. The first exterior scene was on a snow-capped mountain in the northernmost part of China.

The snow here is still very thick in early March, but the temperature is not as low as in the severe winter, which is the most suitable time for filming. In another two weeks, the snow may start melting and this area will become more prone to avalanches.

Fortunately, only a few shots needed to be taken by drones, and the rest of the snowboarding close-ups could be completed at the indoor ski resort, compressing the itinerary of the snowy mountain location to within a week.

“The snow is in good condition, there is no sun today, the temperature is good, filming is possible.” The experts hired by the crew gave suggestions after checking various data points. “But it is best to complete the filming before noon. After clicking, if the current conditions can be maintained, you may be able to continue working.”

Chu Yinlong nodded and checked with the security team again: “Are the barricades ready?”

The security lead replied: “We checked it three times, it’s no problem. Based on the planned route, our people scanned the snow conditions and confirmed that there is no danger of snow jams either.”

“Okay.” Chu Yinlong got up, took off his coat, and waved at Jiang Dao, “Let’s go, get ready to start shooting.”

In the plot, the snowy mountain chase was an accident, so the clothes the actors wore were not regular winter jackets. The snowboards were also disguised as disassembled steel plate fencing based on the plot.

Wearing this kind of equipment and sliding down the mountain, one can imagine how cold it would be.

As soon as Jiang Dao took off his coat, he immediately felt the biting cold wind.

Chu Yinlong also stood beside him in a thin suit, reminding him: “Remember to follow the blue markings, they have surveyed this slope.”

Jiang Dao nodded, moved his body, and bent over to buckle the snowboard to his feet.

Seeing all three drones were all in place, the assistant director signaled to start shooting.

Arriving at the starting point by helicopter, Chu Yinlong took the lead to jump off the slope. Jiang Dao followed closely, and after a while, the stunt double who played the chasing villain appeared, and the group galloped along the preplanned route. In a few seconds, they quickly descended to a gently sloping open space enclosed by barricades.

Rushing down from the top of the mountain in only a suit at more than 40 kilometers per hour… Jiang Dao’s whole body was almost frozen. Chu Yinlong was in a similar state. There was a layer of frost on his eyebrows and eyelashes, and he looked like a little old man.

The staff immediately handed them some warm water, but Chu Yinlong said with a shudder: “Hurry up and take pictures. When we take indoor close-ups later, you can refer to the pictures.”

After taking the pictures, only then did Jiang Dao and Chu Yinlong get into the 20-degree Celsius heat pump parked next to them. After warming up, they put on their coats again, waiting for the helicopter to pick them up.

There aren’t high requirements for such a long-range shot. Since there were no general problems, it passed in one shooting.

However, since the chase involved a lot of terrain, the crew had to shoot on several hillsides, and use close-ups to connect them to show the thrill and excitement of this snowy chase.

However, no one expected that when they were about to change slopes, a huge avalanche happened.

Fortunately, they weren’t too close and were stationed on safe high ground next to it. But even so, they were almost buried by the snow launched up by the avalanche, and the entire crew seemed to have experienced a blizzard.

Jiang Dao stood on the cliff, looking at the rolling hillside of snow not far away, listening to the deafening roar, feeling the tremor of the earth under his feet, and smiled. “In the face of natural disasters, people are really too fragile. Once trapped, I’m afraid we’d be smashed to pieces.”

“I thought you wanted a challenge.” Chu Yinlong breathed a sigh of relief.

Jiang Dao laughed: “I like excitement, but I’m not crazy. I still cherish my life. Those exciting projects I’m interested in are either under my own control or have a formal process. Do you think I really want to die?”

The avalanche didn’t last long, and when everything settled, the snow mountain expert came over with a smile on his face: “It’s fine if it collapses in advance, and won’t collapse again so soon. However, the route needs to be re-surveyed. Large pieces of snow may need to be broken up. In addition, many trees broke just now, which may also be potentially dangerous.”

“Do as you see fit, we have plenty of time.” Chu Yinlong said, “Ensuring safety is the top priority, and everything else can be discussed.”

Since this stretch of snow was temporarily unavailable, the crew changed the plan and called for a helicopter to bring personnel and equipment to the next slope and shoot the scenes there first.

This time there were no more accidents, and shooting went very smoothly.

That night, Jiang Dao was sitting outside the tent with hot juice, looking up at the stars, and asked, “Director Mu can use special effects for outdoor scenes, so why do you insist on shooting real outdoor scenes? Shooting in so many places, the cost won’t be lower than adding special effects, and you also have to wait for the weather and lighting. Isn’t it troublesome?”

Chu Yinlong smiled: “It’s not a matter of cost, it’s… my own preference. Although I know many indoor and outdoor scenes can be modeled realistically with special effects, there are still many differences when acting.”

He pulled up the photos of the two of them taken by the staff before from his mobile phone: “Look, this feeling of snow on the eyebrows and eyelashes may be ignored if you haven’t experienced it, so the final work may also be distorted. Also, since you’re snowboarding down the mountain in a suit, the details of freezing all over and your eye movements will be more realistic if you’ve really experienced it.”

Jiang Dao looked at Chu Yinlong with his head raised, but did not speak.

Chu Yinlong raised his eyebrows: “Why are you looking at me like this?”

Jiang Dao smiled and said, “I like this kind of you when you explain your ideals. You look brighter than the stars in the sky.”
