ABLO Chapter 20

Grandpa Lu looked down at his watch and said in a low voice, “I don’t have much time. Have you thought it through, Mr. Ruan?”

Ruan Donglin and Wu Yongjuan looked at each other, both looking unwilling.

Ruan Donglin looked at Grandpa Lu, his tone softening as he said gently, “Marshal Lu, I wasn’t mentally prepared for this beforehand. Could you give me some time to think it over? I believe there might still be room for reconsideration. Mian Mian and Lu Yang are still young. If they want to marry, we can discuss it again in a couple of years. I’m not saying I’ll definitely refuse…”

Grandpa Lu waved his hand to stop him from continuing.

Grandpa Lu raised his eyes and said firmly, “Mr. Ruan, I just said that I don’t have much time, so you don’t have to waste your words. You just need to say whether you agree or disagree.”

Grandpa Lu paused and continued, “If you agree, I will immediately let the deputy general go with you to handle the transfer of custody of Mian Mian. If you disagree, the deputy general will take you to the Interstellar Court, and I will not care about the rest.”

It was the first time that Ruan Donglin saw Marshal Lu being so ruthless, and he was terrified. In the past, Marshal Lu would always be cautious about his request for Ruan Mian’s sake, and would never use such a strong method against him.

Now, it is different from the past. Marshal Lu not only no longer gives him face but also wants to take away Ruan Mian’s custody directly. If Ruan Mian is not in his hands, how can he use Ruan Mian as a bargaining chip in the future?

What’s more, Ruan Mian still has a large fortune to inherit. If he leaves the Ruan family, then all this inheritance would have nothing to do with the Ruan family.

After Ruan Mian leaves, not only would they lose the support of the Lu family’s powerful influence, but they would also forfeit a substantial amount of wealth. This deal was disadvantageous, no matter how it was calculated.

But if he didn’t agree, then he might have no future…

The more he thought about it, the more frightened he became. He couldn’t help but regret being so greedy before and completely angering Marshal Lu. Now it was not worth it.

He thought about it over and over again in his heart, and he didn’t say a word for a long time. Wu Yongjuan sat beside him, also silent, and was extremely unwilling in her heart.

Although she was anxious, she couldn’t think of any countermeasures. None of them thought that the Lu family would think of this trick—to take Ruan Mian to the Lu family to raise him directly.

They knew that Lu Yang and Ruan Mian had a good relationship, but they didn’t expect that the Lu family would value Ruan Mian so much that they actually wanted the only grandson in the family to marry an orphan like Ruan Mian.

Wu Yongjuan couldn’t help but look at Ruan Mian gloomily. As things developed to this point, her plan to have Ruan Heng marry Lu Yang was completely thwarted, and Ruan Mian was about to escape her control.

She couldn’t help but feel increasingly resentful. Unfortunately, the Lu family was so powerful that they held leverage over them, making it impossible to provoke them.

What was most infuriating was that the Lu family had somehow gathered so much evidence. It seemed they were well-prepared. The evidence was irrefutable, leaving them no room for argument. If this went to the Interstellar Court, Ruan Donglin wouldn’t know how long it would take for him to get out.

Grandpa Lu looked at them solemnly for a while, not giving them time to think. He waved to the deputy general and said lightly: “Deputy General, since Mr. Ruan doesn’t want to answer, then you can take Mr. Ruan to the Interstellar Court…”

“…I agree!” Ruan Donglin shouted hurriedly, cold sweat dripping down his head, “Marshal Lu, I agree to everything you say.”

He had only been grasping at straws earlier, but now that he saw Marshal Lu was serious about it, he no longer dared to utter a word of refusal.

Wu Yongjuan gritted her teeth. Although she was very reluctant, she had no other options. Previously, they had dared to act with impunity because the Lu family had no reason to take Ruan Mian away. Now that Lu Yang is an Alpha, everything has changed.

According to Interstellar regulations, due to their special physical conditions, a pure-blooded Omega and an Alpha can establish a marriage contract and live together if one party’s pheromones are unstable. This arrangement allows the other party to help stabilize their pheromones.

Now that Lu Yang’s genes have undergone a mutation, it’s a perfect justification. At this point, the Lu family could easily use the marriage contract to take away Ruan Mian’s guardianship.

Ruan Heng, however, didn’t know what was going on. When he heard Ruan Donglin’s words, he immediately became anxious. He stood up from the chair and said with bloodshot eyes: “Are you crazy? Of course I can’t agree! Have you forgotten that Ruan Mian still has a fortune to inherit?! If he leaves, this inheritance…”

Wu Yongjuan’s face changed drastically. She quickly reached out to cover his mouth and scolded anxiously: “Shut up! This is adult business. You can’t talk nonsense here. Don’t talk nonsense here.”

Grandpa Lu and Ning Mixiang heard what Ruan Heng said just now, and finally understood why Wu Yongjuan was anxious to arrange a blind date for Ruan Mian. They looked at them with contempt, but didn’t care. The most important thing now is to get Ruan Mian’s custody as soon as possible, and other things can be settled slowly.

Ning Mixiang didn’t want to look at this family anymore. She turned to Ruan Mian and smiled. She said in a brisk voice: “Mian Mian, leave the formalities to us. Go pack your luggage and come back with us later. Never come back here again.”

Ruan Mian was still a little confused about what happened. He didn’t know why Ruan Donglin suddenly compromised. He was stunned and repeated in a low voice: “Never come back here again?”

“Yeah.” Grandpa Lu patted his shoulder and said with a smile: “Mian Mian, come home with us. We will be a family from now on.”

Ruan Mian blinked his eyes gently. He had lived in the Ruan family’s house for so many years and never felt that this was his home, so he didn’t have any fond memories of it. But he never thought that one day, the Lu family would become his home.

His eyes involuntarily grew a bit red, with a hint of moisture forming. He felt a pang of bittersweetness in his heart. Although he still had two years until he reached adulthood and would no longer be under Ruan family’s control, escaping their grasp in these two years was incredibly important to him.

Lu Yang covered his eyes with his hand and threatened in a low voice: “Don’t cry, or I will use you as a towel when you become a little rabbit.”

“…” Ruan Mian thought about his soft snow-white fur and tried to hold back his tears.

Ruan Mian’s room in the Ruan family home was not big, and there were not many things. He packed everything in a suitcase in a short while.

Ruan Donglin and Wu Yongjuan stood at the door with a dark face and reluctantly sent them out respectfully.

Lu Yang wore sunglasses on his face, holding the suitcase in one hand and Ruan Mian in the other, and walked out of the Ruan family’s door with his head held high.

Over the years, he has always been disgusted with the Ruan family bullying Ruan Mian. He was worried that Ruan Mian would stay here for one more day. Now he can finally take Ruan Mian back to his home openly. He can’t help but feel satisfied and very happy. He thinks that this transformation into an Alpha is worth it.

Grandpa Lu and Ning Mixiang still had to go and handle the guardianship, so they left Ruan Mian and Lu Yang with a few words before leaving first. Lu Yang and Ruan Mian had nothing to do, so they didn’t take the car. They dragged his suitcases and walked to Lu’s house.

They ran into Wang Dali, who looked haggard, holding an ice cream in his hand, but only looked at it without eating it.

When he saw Lu Yang, he stopped, opened his eyes slightly, and stared at Lu Yang with a sad look.

Lu Yang wore sunglasses on his face, raised his chin slightly, and looked very cool. Ruan Mian felt that he pretended to not see Wang Dali at all.

Wang Dali pursed his lips miserably, looked up at Lu Yang, then looked down at the ice cream in his hand, and finally his eyes turned red. He turned around and ran away.

A gust of wind blew in his face, and Lu Yang squinted his eyes slightly.

Ruan Mian looked at Wang Dali’s back as he ran away, and sighed in his heart. Fortunately, Wang Dali did not turn into a rooster this time.

… At least the image was maintained.

He looked up at Lu Yang, who squinted his eyes, silently handed Lu Yang a tissue, and whispered: “Wipe your tears.”

Lu Yang has had tears in his eyes due to the wind since he was a child. If the wind was a little stronger, he would not be able to help crying.

“…” Lu Yang took the tissue and gently wiped the corners of his eyes. His blurred vision finally became clear.

Ruan Heng stood in the yard and saw Ruan Mian and Lu Yang walking out of the house together. He was so angry that he stamped his feet. Although Wu Yongjuan kept pulling him, he couldn’t help chasing after him.

He ran a few steps, looked at Ruan Mian’s back, and shouted: “Ruan Mian! You are a rabbit that has entered a wolf’s den, aren’t you afraid of being eaten up?!”

“…” Ruan Mian couldn’t help but shrink back, look up at Lu Yang, and ask anxiously: “Will you eat me?”

Lu Yang curved his lips, smiled, turned his head to look at Ruan Heng, showing his sharp canine teeth, and said grimly: “From now on, Mian Mian is my family. If you dare to scare him again, be careful; wolves don’t just eat rabbits.”

“Ahhhhhhh!!!” Ruan Heng’s face was pale, he screamed in fear, turned around, and ran back to the house quickly.

Lu Yang retracted his canine teeth, pouted his lips in boredom, and said to Ruan Mian with some disdain: “Your cousin is really timid, not fun at all.”

As they rounded the corner, a teddy dog suddenly came running from somewhere, mouth open and tongue out, its little legs moving rapidly.

Lu Yang’s steps came to a sudden halt as he and the teddy dog locked eyes for a moment. In the next second, Lu Yang darted behind Ruan Mian, and in the alley, a scream even more piercing and shrill than Ruan Heng’s earlier cry, rang out.

“Ahhh… Tutu, save me!”

As a brave rabbit, Ruan Mian immediately stood in front of Lu Yang, waved his hand, and helped the arctic wolf behind him drive away the petite and cute teddy dog.

Ruan Mian looked back, “Baby Lu, it’s gone.”

Lu Yang stuck his head out from behind Ruan Mian and took a look. After confirming that the Teddy dog had left, he calmly walked out from behind Ruan Mian, straightened his collar, fixed his sunglasses, and then took Ruan Mian’s hand and continued to walk forward.
