Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching. Zhao Jinxin’s friend sent over a large box of seafood. They were all air-shipped from overseas. They’re big, fresh, and extremely expensive. So they must be eaten immediately.
Li Shuo decided to invite a few friends over, as the two of them definitely couldn’t finish all that food. Zhao Jinxin suggested they just take it to his brother’s place. With four adults and one child, it would be just right.
After some thought, Li Shuo realised that life had been peaceful and harmonious recently. So it might be fun to tease Shao Qun a bit. He readily agreed.
As soon as they arrived, Shao Qun gave Zhao Jinxin a look that said, ‘If you’re coming, then just come. But why did you bring your partner along with you?’ Zhao Jinxin cheerfully blew a kiss to both him and Li Chengxiu.
When it was time to cook, Li Shuo naturally went to help Li Chengxiu. But Shao Qun wasn’t happy about it. He pushed Li Shuo aside to take over, only to get his hands pricked and bleeding from the mantis shrimp. He was then furiously dragged out of the kitchen by Zhao Jinxin.
Sometimes Shao Qun had to admit that Zhao Jinxin had a big heart. But he didn’t think being petty was wrong either. Who dared say Shao Qun was wrong?
At the dinner table, Shao Qun, trying to regain some ground, sent his son Zheng Zheng to run around the house holding a dish of soy sauce, which ultimately spilled all over Li Shuo’s custom-made suit from London.
While Li Chengxiu scolded Zheng Zheng and kept apologising, Shao Qun smiled, not even trying to hide it. Zhao Jinxin looked innocently at Li Shuo, who waved it off with a smile and even praised Zheng Zheng for running so fast. He then promised to visit more often in the future, to which Shao Qun rolled his eyes dramatically.
On the way home, Zhao Jinxin honestly said, “I hope you and my brother can get along better. But if you really don’t like it, we won’t come together next time.”
Li Shuo shook his head with a smile, “You’re overthinking it. How could I let my darling feel troubled? I quite enjoy these gatherings, just to spice up life a bit.”
Zhao Jinxin blinked his eyes perplexedly. He was sometimes unsure of who was winning in the rivalry between Li Shuo and Shao Qun. All he knew was that neither of them was willing to back down. It was quite amusing, actually.
Li Shuo lifted Zhao Jinxin’s hand and kissed it. He then placed it on his knee. The two of them held hands, smiling, as they drove home.
