Half a month passed in the blink of an eye, and in some things, Min Yang became more and more adept.
Tang Zhe accompanied him to work, and whenever they encountered his younger brother, Min Yang would naturally stand behind Tang Zhe, the entire action smooth and effortless.
“Don’t… don’t be scared,” Tang Zhe would reassure Min Yang.
“Mm,” Min Yang seemed incredibly delicate, “Thank you.”
Hearing this, his brother twitched his lips, thinking that the jerk who swiftly took down ten of his spies and beat up his men until they were bleeding might have had his soul swapped.
Recalling the miserable state of his subordinates when they returned, the younger brother clenched his fists.
Min Yang tattled, “He’s clenching his fists.”
Tang Zhe shielded Min Yang behind him, “I’m… I’m here.”
He even naturally tightened his grip on Min Yang’s hand, giving the alpha a sense of security.
The younger brother: …
He gritted his teeth and slowly unclenched his fists, “Heh.”
Min Yang was, after all, the president of Min Corporation, and with all the mess his younger brother had stirred up earlier, Min Yang hadn’t been at the company long before he was swamped with work, attending three meetings in a row.
Tang Zhe found a spot in the hallway to stand and enjoy the view, not following Min Yang into the meeting room. It wasn’t that Min Yang didn’t want the little stammerer by his side, but Tang Zhe found the long-winded analysis boring. Besides, standing outside the meeting room, no one inside could really cause any trouble.
The Min Corporation building was tall, offering a great view. Tang Zhe looked down, idly stepping on his shadow.
When the younger brother came out of the meeting room, this was the scene he saw. The matter of him colluding with the “Tang family” to deal with Min Yang had been brought to light, making everyone look bad. If it were the actual “Tang family,” it would’ve been fine, but unfortunately, he had contacted an insignificant branch of the Tang family, which held no real value. Even if Min Yang’s father wanted to show favoritism, he couldn’t be too blatant. After several confrontations, the younger brother had to temporarily leave the Min Corporation. Feeling extremely uncomfortable, he stormed out of the meeting in anger.
When he saw Tang Zhe, his wrist ached instinctively. Just as he was about to head to the bathroom, he seemed to remember something and turned back.
“Oh,” he said as he walked up to Tang Zhe, “My brother is in there having a meeting, and he just left you out here like this?”
“Looks like my brother doesn’t treat you… all that well after all—” he drawled.
The younger brother was still stewing in his anger and just wanted to make someone else miserable. “No matter how much you do for him, he doesn’t even let you attend the family meetings. Looks like he doesn’t really consider you family.”
Tang Zhe frowned, turning his head away, not wanting to deal with him.
The younger brother, encouraged, kept going, “But that’s normal, don’t take it to heart.”
“My brother’s always been like this—emotionally distant, like a robot that doesn’t need feelings.”
“Dating my brother must be tough, huh?” The younger brother said with feigned concern.
The more Tang Zhe listened, the more he frowned. By the time the younger brother got to this point, Tang Zhe was pursing his lips.
“He… he’s very good,” Tang Zhe retorted.
“He also needs… needs affection.”
Tang Zhe thought, clearly, they never gave Min Yang any affection.
His alpha was already pitiful enough, yet these people kept adding insult to injury, accusing him of being emotionally detached. It was unfair.
This time, the younger brother actually smiled, and Tang Zhe heard the mocking tone in it.
“You don’t really think my brother needs you, do you?”
Seeing the doubt in Tang Zhe’s eyes, the younger brother laughed even harder, “I have no idea what kind of game my brother is playing, pretending to be a sheep when he’s a wolf, acting all fragile when he’s really ruthless.”
“An alpha who practiced martial arts since childhood, getting hurt from just a squeeze on the shoulder?”
He pointed to his own shoulder with a meaningful look, “Heh, with just two people, let alone hurting him, they probably wouldn’t even get close.”
Lowering his voice, he leaned closer to Tang Zhe, “Didn’t my brother tell you all this?”
He concluded, “He doesn’t need feelings, dear sister-in-law.”
“But watching someone worry themselves sick over him—now that’s a good show, hahahaha—” The younger brother laughed as he stepped back, and as the meeting room doors opened again, he turned and walked downstairs.
Min Yang had just finished a meeting and, upon stepping out, immediately saw his oblivious younger brother talking to Tang Zhe. He quickened his pace, but his brother had already turned to leave.
“What were you two talking about?” Min Yang grabbed Tang Zhe’s wrist and asked.
Tang Zhe snapped out of his thoughts, “Noth… nothing.”
He didn’t really believe his brother’s words and instead focused on Min Yang’s well-being.
“Are the meetings… all o… over?”
“Mm.” Min Yang seemed a bit distracted.
Tang Zhe asked, “Did they give… you any trouble?”
Min “Sharp-tongued in public, delicate in private” Yang: “They said a lot of mean things.”
Tang Zhe: “Who… who said it?”
Min Yang noticed a middle-aged shareholder who had just stepped out, someone who had always sided with his father, and said, “Him.”
Min Yang, hopeful: “Does Tang Tang want to beat him up for me?”
Tang Zhe hesitated for a moment, then advised, “Maybe we should… let it go? He doesn’t… look very tough.”
Min Yang sighed with a hint of regret, “You’re right.”
The shareholder, who overheard the entire conversation: ???
