WCG Chapter 15

It’s like he’s a little brat wanting to be praised!

At the end of the second game, TLG emerged victorious, with Jiang Shi securing an impressive 15-3 score.

After being ganked by four players, Pink Tie had stopped talking in the global channel, focusing solely on survival as Jiang Shi relentlessly hunted him down across the map.

In stark contrast, Jiang Shi was dominating the battlefield, turning the entire game into his showcase.

After the initial deaths due to taunting, Jiang Shi didn’t die again, with his teammates seemingly aware of his earlier frustration and giving him every opportunity to secure kills.

Of course, there was an exception: Jiang Lele.

When Jiang Shi secured a triple kill, Jiang Lele, with his three assists, exaggeratedly exclaimed, “Fuck, you stole my triple kill!”

Jiang Shi rolled his eyes at him.

The scrim between TLG and MR was a BO3, but with TLG winning the first two games, there was no need for a third. After the match, the team headed to the meeting room for a review, with Yuan Yang and Xie Xu walking at the back.

Xie Xu spoke up, “Let’s avoid scheduling scrims with MR in the future.”

“You don’t need to tell me that.” Yuan Yang’s gaze shifted from his WeChat conversation with the MR coach. “Allowing a rookie to talk trash during a scrim and then pretending to apologize afterward—do they really think TLG needs their scrims?”

He scoffed, “Do they think we’re desperate to scrim against them?”

He understood why MR dared to act this way. After TLG’s loss to YB in the last finals, many doubted TLG’s strength. Moreover, with their bot laner An transferring to the Hurricane team and TLG yet to officially announce a new ADC, everyone assumed TLG’s legendary team was on the decline.

Even MR, barely making it into the top eight, dared to challenge them.

This was why he had kept Jiang Shi hidden, intending to reveal a rejuvenated TLG to everyone and make Jiang Shi’s debut astonishing!

Yuan Yang finished speaking and made a call to MR’s team manager. “Their ADC recognized Jiang Shi. I need to warn them. If they leak even a word, they’ll be hearing from our lawyers.”

Jiang Shi, their secret weapon for the upcoming spring season.

Meanwhile, Jiang Shi – who was being counted on — was being chatted up by Jiang Lele. “How are you so confident your skill shot would hit? If you miss, you have to turn around and auto-attack!”

Jiang Shi replied, “If I turn around, I lose.”

Not only would he lose momentum, but the defense tower would also kill him.

“You’re really good at showing off!” Jiang Lele, unaware of Jiang Shi’s real thoughts, was starry-eyed. “Next time, I’ll do that too!”

Yu Hui poured cold water on the idea, “You mean with your ultimate that always hits jungle creeps, Nuka?”

In the second game, Jiang Lele had played Nuka, a hero he wasn’t very familiar with, forcing their mid-laner to support the bot-lane frequently.

Jiang Lele acted innocent. “Didn’t I pick this hero to synergize with the captain and Xiao Shi?”

Nuka’s ultimate had a freeze and slow effect, which would help Xie Xu’s Snowman and combo CC more effectively. Combined with Jiang Shi’s explosive damage, anyone would die.

However, he hadn’t managed to hit any targets with his ult.

During the review, Yuan Yang’s face darkened at Jiang Lele’s 12% ultimate hit rate. “Jiang Lele, you’ve been practicing this hero for almost a week. Why are you still playing like this?”

Jiang Lele sheepishly rubbed his nose. “It’s not that bad, right? I got eight assists!”

“All from following Xiao Shi!” Yuan Yang’s voice rose. “You have one more week. If you can’t improve, don’t play this hero again.”

Jiang Lele meekly agreed.

Yuan Yang turned to Zhao Jiu. “Nine, you had a natural advantage in the first game. If you had used Flash decisively on the third wave, you could have secured a solo kill, but you hesitated.”

Zhao Jiu started to explain, but Yuan Yang cut him off. “I know you were worried about the jungler, but he was mid two minutes ago. If you were quick, you could’ve killed him and retreated before their jungler arrived.”

Zhao Jiu glanced at the screen showing the jungler’s position and nodded. “That’s my fault.”

Yuan Yang then pointed out a few minor issues with Yu Hui and paused when looking at Xie Xu, before moving on to Jiang Shi.

Jiang Shi straightened instinctively. “Yuan-ge, say it.”

He knew that his problem was the biggest.

Yuan Yang’s critical gaze softened slightly the moment he saw the nervousness flashing on Jiang Shi’s eyes. But he thought of something and returned to his previous stern gaze. He pointed to the time when Jiang Shi tower-dived 10 minutes into the first game. “I know you have an aggressive playstyle, but why did you choose to tower-dive and trade with the enemy’s ADC at this time?”

At this point, Jiang Lele raised his hand. “I know why.”

“Their ADC sent a mocking emote to Jiang Shi during that game.”

By the time the second game started, the ADCs on both sides were already silently competing against each other.

Jiang Shi kept his legs together, staring at his knees, looking like a well-behaved kid who knew he had done wrong.

Facing such a compliant Jiang Shi, Yuan Yang couldn’t bring himself to be too harsh. He reminded himself to be kind to the new team member. However, watching the next video where Jiang Shi was baited into a 1v2 situation, Yuan Yang lost his patience.

“If I’m not mistaken, your three deaths in that game were all for the same reason. Didn’t you realize the enemy was deliberately baiting you?”

In the review, with the full-map vision, it was clear that after the ADC’s taunt, the enemy jungler or mid-laner would move toward the bot lane, waiting for Jiang Shi to take the bait.

And Jiang Shi, being impatient, fell for it every time—

Three times in total.

Not only Yuan Yang, but even Jiang Shi felt foolish watching his own gameplay.

“Not just that.” Yuan Yang knocked on the table, “Jiang Shi, I want you to understand one thing: this is a five-person team game.”

Jiang Shi quickly apologized, “Yes, I’ll pay more attention to the movements of other lanes next time.”

“That’s part of it, but that’s not what I meant.” Yuan Yang switched the video to Jiang Shi’s personal perspective, “Take a look yourself.”

Zhao Jiu, the steel straight man1this is not saying that he’s heterosexual, but he’s so oblivious like a typical Straight Man™, quickly asked, “Yang-ge, did you switch to the wrong view? Isn’t this the captain’s perspective?”

This was from the first game when Jiang Shi secured first blood, with Xie Xu providing vision in the river bush.

This went on for several minutes, and Jiang Shi’s perspective only returned to normal when a fight was about to break out.

Jiang Lele was laughing so hard he held his stomach. “I thought Jiang Shi was fighting tooth and nail in the scrim, but it turns out he had time to do this, hahaha…”

“And right after getting first blood, switching the view to watch the captain’s moves — it’s like he’s a little brat wanting to be praised!”

Even the usually stoic Yu Hui had a smirk on his face.

Jiang Shi, who was publicly executed: “…”

Sometimes, he really wanted to poison Jiang Lele into silence.

And no one had told him they would look into the players’ individual perspectives during the review!!!!!

Jiang Shi didn’t dare look at Xie Xu’s expression, keeping his head down, his ears burning red.

“For a game lasting over twenty minutes, you spent half the time observing your support.” Yuan Yang concluded with a smile, “Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were playing a couples’ duo queue!”

T/L:

Whenever Jiang Shi felt embarrassed on the text, I was like:

“Wait, he can feel that??”

But then I realized-

He’s just a slut in theory, but not in practice. He’s very easily embarrassed in RL situations thanks to his high pride.
