ABSTIWTVMST Chapter 104

Xu Chenghao forgot how he answered. By the time he came to his senses, Jing Yicheng was already saying seriously, “You agreed to it.”

Xu Chenghao responded with an “oh” and, in his good mood, didn’t delve deeper. “Then you sleep in the guest room. Auntie has already tidied it up. Go ahead.”

Having slept in the master bedroom, how could Jing Yicheng settle for the guest room? But before he could continue to argue, Xu Chenghao preemptively said, “Oh, my leg hurts… maybe from standing too long. I need to rest. Good night, good night.”

With that, Xu Chenghao turned and walked to his room. As he closed the door, he warned, “No picking the lock, and no hanging outside the window!”

Bang—

The door closed firmly just as he finished speaking. Jing Yicheng stood alone in the living room for a while, sighing helplessly about his demotion from the master bedroom to the guest room… But given the current situation, he was already much better off than he had imagined before returning. He could be content with this.

Jing Yicheng returned to the guest room. Lying on the bed, he suddenly felt that the atmosphere was just like before he left, and before Xu Chenghao got hurt—still so warm and harmonious.

He was still waiting for me…

This realization was enough to satisfy Jing Yicheng completely. He happily covered himself with the blanket and went to sleep, ready to recharge for the next day.

A good night’s sleep.

The next morning, an alarm and knocking on the door woke him simultaneously. Jing Yicheng’s voice came through the door: “Haohao, time to get up. It’s eight o’clock.”

Xu Chenghao opened his eyes. After a few seconds of rebooting his brain, he struggled to raise his hand and turn off the alarm, responding, “Got it, got it.”

Jing Yicheng asked, “Can I come in?”

Xu Chenghao didn’t want to speak, savoring the warmth of the bed.

The outside fell silent again, as if someone had left after getting no response. Xu Chenghao thought about it and still got up. When he finished washing up and changing clothes, thinking no one would be at the door, he opened it to find a bouquet of strawberry flowers thrust into his face.

Jing Yicheng gave him a quick kiss, “Good morning.”

Xu Chenghao’s mood instantly brightened. “Thank you. Why are you so good today?”

Jing Yicheng thought for a moment, “Just to celebrate President Xu officially abandoning the wheelchair.”

Xu Chenghao: “Idiot, you should say you don’t need a reason to be nice to me.”

Jing Yicheng looked like he learned something new, “Oh, I didn’t know I could say that. I was worried you wouldn’t believe it, so I prepared a second reason.”

Xu Chenghao was curious, “What reason?”

Jing Yicheng earnestly said, “To celebrate my first day as President Xu’s assistant. I hope to take good care of President Xu and make him satisfied in the future.”

Xu Chenghao laughed and stuffed the strawberry into his mouth, saying with a half-smile, “Sweet words won’t help. When the real work starts, I won’t be lenient.”

Jing Yicheng: “Okay. As long as you’re not happy, you can hit me, scold me, or bite me. The main thing is to make you happy.”

Receiving so many sweet words in the morning, Xu Chenghao was naturally elated. He secretly decided that if Jing Yicheng made any mistakes at work today, he could still forgive him.

However, what Xu Chenghao didn’t expect was that there were more surprises ahead.

After he finished breakfast and went downstairs, he stared blankly at the white world for a long time before exclaiming in shock, “It’s snowing???”

Spring had already begun, how could it be snowing again?

Though puzzled, Xu Chenghao was still excitedly stepping on the snow, leaving a trail of footprints. Jing Yicheng followed him quietly, and when they reached the garage, he suddenly covered Xu Chenghao’s eyes.

Xu Chenghao instinctively grabbed his wrist, “What’s wrong?”

Jing Yicheng said, “Close your eyes first.”

Xu Chenghao obediently closed his eyes, but his ears carefully listened for any sound from the other side. There was the sound of keys jingling, and the garage door opening—everything seemed normal.

Just as he was thinking this, the hand covering his eyes suddenly released. Xu Chenghao opened his eyes to see dozens of round snowmen neatly lined up in the garage, much larger than last night’s, each with colorful little buckets as hats, carrot noses, and scarves—each more exquisite than the last.

More importantly, in front of the line of snowmen, a little white snow duck was leading the way. Comparing it, Xu Chenghao confirmed that aside from the color, this snow duck was identical to the little yellow duck flower pot in his hand.

Xu Chenghao was touched and amused, teasing, “Snowmen are one thing, but what’s with the duck?”

Jing Yicheng said, “The little yellow duck is also a witness to our love. How could I leave it out of the surprise?”

Xu Chenghao pretended to be disdainful, “Who’s in love with you… Besides, we agreed to build snowmen together. It doesn’t count if you’ve already built them.”

Jing Yicheng was prepared. Hearing this, he pulled out a small shovel and bucket from the corner, saying seriously, “How could I break my promise? As long as you want it, I’ll have it ready.”

Xu Chenghao was a little tempted, “But we have to go to work…”

Jing Yicheng: “It’s okay, just half an hour.”

Xu Chenghao couldn’t resist and quickly nodded in agreement, “Okay.”

The two happily built a snowman in front of the garage door. Although it wasn’t as round and nice-looking as the ones in the garage, Jing Yicheng still ruthlessly destroyed the better-looking snowmen, taking out the carrots, scarves, and buckets to dress their own snowman.

Xu Chenghao happily wrapped a scarf around the snowman, saying, “I thought I wouldn’t be able to build a snowman this year.”

Jing Yicheng softly said, “I’ll keep all my promises.”

Xu Chenghao turned back, “Hm? What did you just say?”

Jing Yicheng bent down to nuzzle his forehead, noticing his cheeks were cold, and said seriously, “I said it’s almost time. We should go to work.”

Xu Chenghao snapped back to reality, “Right, we should go to work. But where’s the car?”

Jing Yicheng called his assistant to come over and then quickly hung up to clean up the scene. After closing the garage door, he worriedly asked, “Standing for so long, does your leg hurt?”

“It’s not that bad.” Xu Chenghao was helpless, “I’ve recovered well. Didn’t you ask the doctor?”

Jing Yicheng pursed his lips. If the doctor hadn’t said that moderate exercise was helpful for recovery and that he couldn’t stay still for too long, he wouldn’t have agreed to Xu Chenghao abandoning the wheelchair.

While talking, the assistant arrived. Xu Chenghao felt a wave of warmth as he sat in the car, shivering slightly from the sudden temperature difference. Seeing this, Jing Yicheng immediately covered him with a prepared blanket and held his hand to warm him up, taking care of him meticulously.

Xu Chenghao couldn’t help but smile. Just as he was about to say thank you, he suddenly noticed something wrong outside the car window. His attention was instantly diverted. After a careful look, he was shocked, “Why is there no snow outside? Is it only snowing in our neighborhood?”

Jing Yicheng remained silent, warming his hand.

Xu Chenghao bumped him with his head, “Say something.”

Jing Yicheng hesitated for a long time before answering, “Haohao, have you heard of artificial snow?”

Xu Chenghao: “…”

He was speechless. Xu Chenghao didn’t know whether to be touched by how much effort and money Jing Yicheng put into the surprise or to laugh at such a typical Mary Sue CEO move. One thing was for sure, this would definitely make the morning news!

Xu Chenghao held the little yellow duck flower pot in his arms, wanting some peace and quiet. He felt like he found a sand sculpture lover, who was responsible for making him mentally exhausted.

Seeing Xu Chenghao’s reaction, Jing Yicheng’s heart tightened. Nervously, he asked, “Haohao, are you angry?”

Xu Chenghao: “No, I’m just a bit tired.”

“Then rest for a while.” Jing Yicheng said as he covered Xu Chenghao’s hand, anxiously waiting for his reaction.

Xu Chenghao withdrew his hand, and just as Jing Yicheng’s heart sank, he suddenly held Jing Yicheng’s hand and placed it on the little yellow duck flowerpot.

Jing Yicheng was instantly overjoyed, feeling this meant Haohao wasn’t angry and liked the surprise.

The car fell silent again. After a morning of playing, they finally arrived at Xu Group’s company. By this time, they were already two hours late for work.

Assistant Li was already worried about whether Jing Yicheng would affect their diligent boss and lead Xu Chenghao astray.

—It seemed like the answer was yes. After all, who arrives late on their first day on the job with the boss? If it wasn’t Jing Yicheng’s influence, that would be strange!

Li Nian was internally roaring, but when Jing Yicheng came for the handover, he still worked cautiously and explained seriously. When it came to appointments, Jing Yicheng suddenly asked, “How many times a week does Ruan Chenxuan make an appointment?”

Li Nian checked the computer, “On average, four times a week.”

Jing Yicheng’s face darkened, “He must be very idle.”

Li Nian, “Yes, but no matter how idle he is, our boss has never agreed to any of his appointments.”

Jing Yicheng naturally knew this. While happy, he grew more annoyed at Ruan Chenxuan’s persistence. Unfortunately, with Zhang Yun still protecting him, Jing Yicheng couldn’t do anything. Otherwise, he would have forced Ruan Chenxuan to regain his memory in the hospital and see if he still had the face to bother Xu Chenghao afterward.

And Zhang Yun—was his brain squeezed by a door? Helping Ruan Chenxuan to such an extent because of old ties. He was truly hopeless!

The more Jing Yicheng thought about it, the angrier he got, especially seeing the repeated appointment records. No, he had to give Ruan Chenxuan some trouble.

He found a moment to contact his assistant. After finding information about the elusive Old Master Ruan, he made a call, “Mr. Ruan.”

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end. The voice that came through was full of age, “Long time no see, Mr. Jing. To what do I owe the pleasure?”

Jing Yicheng got straight to the point, “I heard the Ruan family is expecting a new member. I called to congratulate you.”

The silence on the other end lasted longer. “Mr. Jing, what do you mean?”

Jing Yicheng casually said, “Oh? You didn’t know?”

Mr. Ruan asked, “Know what?”

A cold light flashed in Jing Yicheng’s eyes as he replied, “Your grandson has not only been pursuing someone else’s partner for twenty years, but is also expecting a child abroad. Did you really not know?”
