ABSTIWTVMST Chapter 73

Unprepared, Jing Yicheng was caught off guard by the question, and his suspicious and awkward appearance at the door quickly caught Xu Chenghao’s attention. Xu Chenghao, who hadn’t fully woken up, held back a yawn and asked in confusion, “I just casually asked where you were going, why are you so nervous?”

Jing Yicheng, trying to appear composed: “Am I nervous?”

Xu Chenghao looked at his stiff body: “Aren’t you nervous?”

Jing Yicheng: “…”

It seemed like he was a little nervous.

Clearly, he hadn’t done anything wrong. He had even done a good deed according to the contract. Why did he feel inexplicably guilty in the face of this situation?

Jing Yicheng cleared his throat and adjusted his attitude: “I’m not nervous. I just didn’t expect you to get up so early, so I was startled.”

Xu Chenghao: “Am I really that scary when I wake up early?”

Jing Yicheng sat beside him and explained, “At the very least, we went to bed very late last night. According to the past, you wouldn’t get up this early.”

Xu Chenghao coolly remarked, “Oh, so you strategically left and came back, right?”

Jing Yicheng, who thought he had successfully changed the topic: “…”

Xu Chenghao tilted his head, closely examining him. Jing Yicheng was still wearing yesterday’s clothes and had yet to change. Although not very noticeable, there was a faint scent of disinfectant on him—a distinct hospital smell. Connecting the dots with yesterday’s events wasn’t challenging at all.

Xu Chenghao furrowed his brow slightly: “Did you visit Zhuo Meixue?”

Jing Yicheng: “…Yes.”

Xu Chenghao: “What did you do?”

Jing Yicheng answered straightforwardly: “Warned her not to provoke me.”

Xu Chenghao: “And then?”

Jing Yicheng: “There’s nothing more. I just gave her a warning.”

Xu Chenghao was surprised: “You actually didn’t take any action?”

Jing Yicheng said without changing his expression: “I remember our agreement. I won’t use force to solve things.” So, he only fired an unloaded gun and didn’t hurt anyone.

Xu Chenghao was quite surprised. He didn’t expect that after signing the contract at four o’clock, Jing Yicheng would start trying to change his approach in just a few hours—even if it might not be as good as he imagined, he was willing to change, and that was a good start!

Xu Chenghao was very pleased and, naturally, wanted to give him a reward: “You did a great job. This time, you deserve a reward. Do you want a little yellow duck pillow or a little chili pepper?”

Jing Yicheng didn’t hesitate: “A little yellow duck pillow!”

Xu Chenghao was a bit surprised: “Weren’t you always fond of eating chili peppers before?”

Jing Yicheng calmly replied, “I don’t like it when going to the bathroom.”

Xu Chenghao: “Pfft.”

This reason was unassailable.

After agreeing that Xu Chenghao would buy a gift of a little yellow duck pillow for Jing Yicheng, the two went back to their respective rooms to rest after having breakfast. It wasn’t until after three in the afternoon that Xu Chenghao struggled to get up again due to hunger.

Fortunately, Auntie saw that they hadn’t gotten out of bed, so she specially prepared lunch and left it in the kitchen for them to heat up. After finishing his meal, Xu Chenghao leaned back on the sofa and finally felt like he had come back to life, letting out a deep sigh of relief.

Feeling full and relaxed, Xu Chenghao also became alert to the surroundings. After looking around, he suddenly realized that he hadn’t seen Jing Yicheng for a while.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, the door to the house opened, and Jing Yicheng walked in wearing casual clothes. When he saw Xu Chenghao, he exclaimed, “Awake? Have you eaten?”

“Eaten,” Xu Chenghao replied, supporting his head. “Why are you dressed like this? It’s cold outside.”

Jing Yicheng sat down beside him and explained, “Just went upstairs to take a look.”

Xu Chenghao became interested: “Is he gone?”

Jing Yicheng remained expressionless: “No.”

Xu Chenghao instantly lost interest: “Then forget it.”

Jing Yicheng secretly let out a sigh of relief:  “He said Aoying is definitely testing my patience; he won’t leave anytime soon.”

Xu Chenghao: “So, you mean you want to continue staying at my place?”

Jing Yicheng: “If it’s really not possible, I can climb in and out through the window.”

Xu Chenghao: “… Is there a difference? Aren’t you still living in my house?”

Jing Yicheng: “Then should I pay rent?”

Xu Chenghao: “…”

Why does it feel like inviting Buddha is easy, but sending Buddha away is difficult? Is he not ready to leave or something?

The conversation reached an impasse. Xu Chenghao lay on the sofa, enjoying his rare weekend, gesturing for Jing Yicheng to roll as far away as possible.

Jing Yicheng got up and left. After a while, he returned with a plate of cut fruits, sharing them with Xu Chenghao. In an instant, Xu Chenghao forgave him, and they enjoyed the weekend together.

Wait… did he forget something?

Xu Chenghao’s gaze fell on the little yellow duck flowerpot on the table. Looking at the chili seedlings that were flourishing with flowers in the morning but now withered, he suddenly sat up like a spring. He, he, he  forgot about harvesting chili today!!!

The little pepper mission has reminded him many times not to exceed the time for harvesting. Can he make it in time?

Xu Chenghao rushed into the bedroom, changed his clothes at the fastest speed, grabbed the car keys, and the little yellow duck flowerpot, and ran outside. Jing Yicheng, although unaware of what happened, silently followed, narrowly getting into the passenger seat.

The car roared and quickly rushed out of the residential area towards the greenhouse. When Xu Chenghao got out of the car, he didn’t even bother to close the door and rushed inside. Not to mention pepper, he couldn’t even find the seedlings.

Xu Chenghao: “……………”

Very good, next, he would perform a live collapse on the spot!

Just when Xu Chenghao was about to die out of anger, the employee Chen Long, who was responsible for the greenhouse, suddenly arrived: “Mr. Xu, the chili has all been harvested for you. Are you planning to take them away now?”

This statement was even more effective than a leg-stretching or eye-widening pill. Xu Chenghao immediately revived on the spot, grabbing Chen Long and exclaiming, “What did you just say!”

Chen Long subconsciously repeated: “I said the peppers are harvested. Are you planning to take them away now?”

Xu Chenghao nodded vigorously: “Take them away!”

While Chen Long went to get the peppers, Xu Chenghao excitedly said to Jing Yicheng: “I was really scared when I saw the empty land just now. I thought I missed the harvesting time… Fortunately, they were there, or I might have fainted on the spot.”

Jing Yicheng pretended to be casual and said, “When my system is ready, we can set a time for automatic harvesting.”

Xu Chenghao said  happily: “Then let’s look forward to the successful construction of the pepper base together.”

Jing Yicheng nodded solemnly: “Okay.”

After chatting for a few moments, they saw Chen Long returning with a cloth bag. Xu Chenghao took it, opened it, and upon careful inspection, felt that this harvest was quite good. There were 17 complete chili peppers and 21 deformed ones in the bag. The small red cloth bag looked festive.

This could be considered a good start!

Xu Chenghao was very satisfied, carrying a bit of hope. He took out chili seeds and planted the second batch, hoping to maintain this harvest state.

At this moment, the advantage of automation became evident again. As long as the chili seeds were placed inside, the rest could be controlled sitting in front of the computer, without the need for manual labor.

Xu Chenghao was very pleased. His smile had just appeared when, in the next second, one after another little yellow ducks bounced out, making a “pu-pu-pu” sound. They shook their spirited bodies, issued a “quack-quack-quack” warning, and then instantly sprayed a wide area of mist from their mouths to irrigate the just-planted chili seeds.

Xu Chenghao: “…”

He forgot about the flock of ducks.
