Fifty minutes after military posture training started, Yi Bailu went down to sit on the sidelines under the pretext of being dizzy.
Soon, the one-hour timer ended, and all the members of the star class completed the 20 push-up punishment before stopping for the first break.
This morning’s training schedule only included military posture, but even after an hour, everyone was already tired. No one knew how to spend the next two hours or so.
Unexpectedly, a group of ten people from the recruit team were stopped by their instructor and brought to the star class, with the intent to take on an entertainment challenge.
Everyone immediately became interested: “Wow! Is this the start of the entertainment competition?”
The instructor introduced: “This is the pacesetter recruit class of the First Battalion. They took up the first challenge from you.”
Hearing this, Jiang Dao complained. “A challenge from us? We don’t even know what the challenge is, is the program team cheating us?”
Cheng Zhiyi immediately echoed: “Yes, yes, why don’t we know the content of the challenge?”
At this time, the instructor of the star class took out an envelope from his pocket, opened it, turned to the camera, and read: “Military posture challenge – each side will send a pacesetter for a one-on-one PK. This person will stand in military posture, while the rest of the team must find a way to make the opponent pacesetter laugh, or otherwise break their stance. When one fails, the next team member will come on stage. Each person will be stationed for a maximum of three minutes on the field. If all of them fail, they will lose and be punished to stand in military posture for 30 minutes.”
Hearing these rules, Wu Rui spread his hands: “It’s over, they’re trained pacesetters, how can they laugh under normal circumstances?”
Jiang Qiulin agreed: “Yes, and we don’t have comedians here.”
Zhang Xiaoyuan giggled: “Sister Bailu, you should invite Brother Lu Yun, his talk show is so funny!”
On the other side, a ghost-looking little soldier suddenly winked at Chu Yinlong: “Hey, you must hold on for a while longer!”
Chu Yinlong raised his eyebrows.”Are you so sure that you can win?”
The little soldier looked proud: “We’re all professionally trained, and will never laugh when standing guard. Good luck!”
“Why are you cheering for the enemy?” Chu Yinlong asked with a smile.
The little soldier said, “That’s not it. We have to go back to training after the entertainment challenge! If we can really drag on for 30 minutes, we will also have more time to rest…”
Cheng Zhiyi said: “You don’t like training either?”
The little soldier glanced in the direction of their squad leader and lowered his voice: “Who loves training? Really! Uh, you can’t tell our squad leader…”
Cheng Zhiyi pointed to the microphone at his neck and asked, “Then do you know what this is?” Then he pointed to the man carrying the camera next to him, “You know what he’s doing?”
The little soldier choked, as if he just received a critical hit, and silently returned to his own team.
Soon, the program team formed a circle with red ropes on the ground, and each team entered the field in order of height to accept the challenge. Chu Yinlong was the first in the star class, and the soldiers in the pacesetter class were all the same height, so they followed in order of the lineup, and their squad leader was the first to play.
When the timer started, Cheng Zhiyi stepped forward and made faces at the pacesetter squad leader without the burden of being an idol. Jiang Dao followed closely. Then, Yuwen Feiyang began to sing in a strange tone… On the other hand, the little soldiers were even more unscrupulous. They didn’t have any burdens to begin with and naturally did their best.
But Chu Yinlong was used to it after all, and he stood there straight, with a straight face, without any signs of laughing.
The result was an unexpected upset. The more the pacesetter squad leader listened to Yuwen Feiyang’s songs, the more he could not hold back, and finally his face flushed, but he still refrained from laughing out loud.
“Ah!” The little soldier who greeted them said. “Squad leader, you can’t!”
The pacesetter squad leader became angry: “You do it!”
The little soldier: “I can’t, I’m the finale!”
Rubbing his face, he stepped into the rope loop and began to stand in a military posture.
Fortunately, he lasted almost as long as Chu Yinlong, and when three minutes arrived, Jiang Qiulin took over from Chu Yinlong.
However, as soon as he stood for less than ten seconds, he was amused by the two little warriors in the pacesetter class who were talking cross talk and forgot their words.
“Hey, Brother Jiang, you’re wrong! Do you want to be lazy and don’t want to stand in a military position!”
Cheng Zhiyi, who took the next bat, was mad, “You’re putting a lot of pressure on me!”
He walked forward, trying to delay time, but the next second he was pushed into the circle by the ghostly soldier next to him.
“Don’t try any tricks!” The little soldier smiled and made a face at Cheng Zhiyi.
Cheng Zhiyi curled the corners of his mouth and tried to hold back his smile, standing in a military posture with his head held high – his head held high, so that he could look up at the sky and not look at the group of living treasures in front of him.
As a result, he managed to keep the deputy squad leader on the opposite side until the full three minutes. In the next second, he was amused by a little soldier’s joke and was forced to leave.
Jiang Dao was still making a strange look at the third person in the pacesetter class for one second, and the next second, he stepped into the rope circle, the smile on his face suddenly faded, his face was calm, and he stood up straight.
“Hey? His military posture is so beautiful!” The ghostly little soldier leaned into their squad leader’s ear and whispered. “If he’s part of our battalion, he should be able to enter the pacesetter squad.”
The pacesetter squad leader: “Oh, yes, then if he came in, who would you say would be squeezed out?”
The little soldier choked up and immediately changed his words: “He looks so good, it’s a pity for him to be a soldier. He should be a star!”
Jiang Dao’s expression still did not change.
His eyes fell on the ghostly little soldier’s face. It slowly overlapped with someone in his memory – a former comrade-in-arms, whose personality was as detached as the little soldier in front of him. He was about the same age, and liked to call him “captain” all the time.
These warriors are actually ordinary people. When they put on military uniforms, they become soldiers guarding the country. When they take off their military uniforms, they are just a group of children under the age of 20.
“It’s three minutes, change.” The instructor checked his watch and reminded.
“Hey, why don’t you laugh at all!” The ghostly little soldier frowned and looked at Jiang Dao. “Weren’t you quite fond of laughing when you were teasing our comrades over there just now!”
Jiang Dao stepped out of the rope and smiled at him: “What’s your name?”
The little soldier suddenly became alert: “Why? Ask my name, are you going to file a complaint?”
“No, I think you’re very similar to someone I knew before.” Jiang Dao shook his head.
“…You, that sounds too much like a pickup line.” The little soldier took a step back exaggeratedly.
Afterwards, the situation turned into a stalemate. Although the recruit class were well-trained, they couldn’t stand a group of artists who used their talents, and two or three were quickly eliminated. Lin Chu and Yuwen Feiyang were also eliminated quickly, and when the female artists came on stage, the little warriors suddenly couldn’t let go.
Near the end, the final team members on both sides were basically tied.
The ghostly little soldier standing in the circle seemed to suddenly have changed his personality, his face was awe-inspiring, as he stood with his back straight. On the other hand, Sun Qi from the star class didn’t like to laugh at all. No matter how the people teased her, she still had her usual world-weary look, as if she hadn’t just heard a bad joke.
The final result of the game was that the star class won by a slight advantage of a few seconds.
Hearing this news, the ghostly little soldier immediately lowered his head in frustration: “Ah? Lost?! It’s over in less than 20 minutes, and we’ll be fined half an hour of military posture training… it’s a big loss!”
The star class was overjoyed – having no penalty was the best reward for them.
After all, “Stars in Military Uniform” is a variety show, so the rhythm is naturally different from serious military training. In the morning, they practiced military posture and played small games, and immediately started practicing simple command-based actions, such as, turning left or right.
After the lunch break, the afternoon program was queue training of running and walking.1basically the training of obeying commands of when to walk, run, turn, etc. Not sure what’s it called officially, but literal translation became queue training.
However, before the training began, the star class was brought to observe the performance of the recruits.
Queue training is not too difficult, nor is it as not as boring as remaining in military posture. After two hours of training, another group of recruits came over to accept the challenge of the star class.
“You really won’t delay training like this?” Chu Yinlong asked the instructor with a smile.
“It doesn’t matter if they fight in turns.” The instructor answered as a matter of course.
In the afternoon, the competition was an reverse command queue training. If they say turn left, you should turn right; if they say stand still, you should turn back; if they say take a break, you should assume military posture… Those who make the wrong move will be eliminated, and whichever side eliminates all the opponents wins. The losing group is punished with 20 push-ups.
Although the rules are simple, it is difficult for people to overcome their reflexes, and a series of interesting reactions will inevitably occur.
After ten rounds, sure enough, there were quite a few eliminated from both teams, and most of them were from the recruit class.
At this time, the recruit battalion had their afternoon break. A group of little soldiers came to watch the game, gloating beside them.
“Oh, who said that our pacesetter class can’t do it this morning? How did you get eliminated so quickly?”
“What’s the matter with you? Are you going to lose again?”
“Instructor, can you choose our class next time? Our class is united and we will never lose!”
Just as he was talking, two more recruits from the recruit class were eliminated, leaving only one lone seedling in the team.
The eliminated warriors immediately spoke up for themselves: “We trained too well, and moved according to the command! Instructor, find a disobedient class next time, and maybe we’ll win!”
In the end, unexpectedly, the star class won again.
In the queue, Zhang Xiaoyuan raised her hand and high-fived Jiang Dao and Yuwen Feiyang.
The soldiers of the recruit class reluctantly accepted the punishment, and after doing push-ups, they were ruthlessly pulled back to continue training.
So many military training terms I don’t get so I just used the literal translation. Let me know if there’s more appropriate terminology. 🙏
