AIWR c20.1: Prosper You

Prosper You
  1. Prosper you

Kou Jiang was Qin Qing’s sworn enemy in the previous life.

To spell out how much the both of them didn’t get along, it was much more than just having something against each other. It was best described as You die and I live*

t/n: 你死我活. irreconcilable enemies. Enemies that cannot co-exist

Qin Qing still remembered it to this day.

In the beginning, when he first entered the industry. Qin Qing back then was just an agent following artists around and Kou Jiang had already changed jobs from a TV station to a Movie platform as a program producer.

At the table of a certain dinner party, Kou Jiang frequently made advances toward a young female artist that Qin Qing was taking care of. He also asked for contact information and toasted her repeatedly. The female artist sensed something was abnormal. She was weak and scared and quietly contacted Qin Qing to come to the hotel to collect her.

Qin Qing went and smoothly collected her.

Kou Jiang stood by the parking lot in front of the hotel and held a cigarette in his mouth and under the neon twilight, he had squinted his eyes in warning.

After that day, the female artist was harassed by Kou Jiang’s phone calls again and again. She was very annoyed and didn’t know what to do, so she asked Qin Qing.

It hadn’t been long since Qin Qing entered the industry and he wasn’t sophisticated enough in handling matters. He thought that since they’d finished recording the program with Kou Jiang, it was unlikely they’d meet in future. He told the female artist to directly blacklist Kou Jiang.

The female artist did as she was told and Qin Qing was too busy with work so in the end this matter was left behind along with Kou Jiang.

But not long after, the female artist still hooked up with Kou Jiang and was more than happy doing it.

So the blame of blacklisting somebody naturally fell on Qin Qing.

Not only did they want him to bear that burden but they also made him pay a modest*1t/n: not big not small price.

To be honest, if you placed this type of situation in a dye-vat like the entertainment industry, it was a very small and trivial thing, and Qin Qing himself hadn’t even put much thought into it. He just treated it as a form of work experience. If you suffer a lesson, you’ll always remember it.

Who would have thought that, afterward, in the rough scramble upwards, he would continuously run into Kou Jiang from time to time.

And when he stopped to catch his breath, he looked back and realized that in the end, he’d already reached a level of utter incompatibility* with Kou Jiang.

t/n: 水火不容 as incompatible as fire and water.

Whereas Kou Jiang himself hated Qin Qing and regarded him as a thorn in his eyes. For many years their relationship had been like water and fire.

And now, both of them were reborn.

Qin Qing didn’t understand what the mechanics and probabilities of this rebirth were and why it surprisingly allowed the two sworn enemies to be reborn at once.

However, with a little speculation, he felt that at least after their rebirth the objectives of both people were completely different.

Qin Qing had completely let go of himself. He didn’t want to have any more aspirations to advance upward and only want a tranquil life, that was peaceful and enjoyable.

Re-entering the entertainment industry and returning to his previous profession was merely to make a temporary living. In the long run, he had no intention of continuing in this industry. If he was able to pass the college examinations, the odds were that after graduation, he would go into other industries and become an ordinary 9 am to 5 pm person.

But it was clear that Kou Jiang was still very much present in the industry and had even more ideas.

Just look at him, now that he had graduated from college. He did not go to the Tv station but directly to a big Platform for an internship. You can already catch a glimpse of the bigger picture.

And also because, at numerous dinner parties in the previous life, Kou Jiang had always raised a glass and sighed, saying that he regretted entering the TV station immediately after graduation and that he had wasted too many years. If he’d earlier on entered a big platform, he would have made achievements long ago.

Now he had directly entered the platform company.

It probably won’t take long to make a big difference with his experience, ability and skill, and the natural advantages of being reborn.

In fact, Qin Qing was hoping that Kou Jiang could focus on counterattacking.

It would be best if he could before exerting his ambitions, review and summarize his own previous life and get rid of the useless things while taking the best qualities all the way to the top.

This way Kou Jiang can at least know that back then, some of the conflicts were very unnecessary and that it was necessary to let go or put down the old matters of the previous life.

And he can also understand not to waste time on irrelevant people and things.

And to also realize that nowadays, Qin Qing was only 18 years old and an assistant. The two of them had no connection to each other. There was no threat, no encounters, and no need to be concerned.

Of course, all these were “rational plans” made for Kou Jiang from Qin Qing’s own standpoint. Kou Jiang’s own heart, and what he thinks, he simply didn’t know.

And Kou Jiang’s character hadn’t changed at all after his rebirth. He was still so arrogant and domineering, with no one in his eyes*2t/n: look down on everybody..

He was someone who would directly approach, call out people’s names and then issue a self-righteous and brainless warning.

Since they met this time, Kou Jiang was unlikely to “let him off” easily.

This peaceful life that hasn’t been long was about to be temporarily disrupted by the similarly reborn sworn enemy.

Qin Qing thought to himself that he must at least be mentally prepared.

As for the rest…

Qin Qing peeled the lychee sent by the visiting class. While eating, he thought: in any case, he just wants to happily enjoy the days of his life and doesn’t want to have any more fighting to the death or intrigues and plots*3t/n: 尔虞我诈*: you deceive (me) I cheat you (idiom);. mutual deception; each tries to outwit the other. He was just an ordinary assistant now.

If Kou Jiang wanted to waste time and was willing to take a few steps off the road of counterattacking to get some advantages over him for past grudges. Then, he (QQ) didn’t mind taking some time to accompany him.

If he took ten thousand steps back*, he simply had no ambition anyways and if he wasn’t happy, he could just quit and change jobs

t/n: Retreat ten thousand steps = even if (the worst happens…….)

Just like when he left home to go north, he’ll leave to do whatever the hell he wanted to do.

In short, happiness and satisfaction can’t be bought, and since he was reborn, it was only natural to live comfortably.

Qin Qing thought about this while eating the lychee.

He also wasn’t paying attention to how fast he was eating and was faced with a protesting Cui Huohuo beside him.

“Hey! Hey!”

Qin Qing raised his eyes. Cui Huohuo’s face was tense. He looked at the speed of Qin Qing peeling lychees, and then looked at the few lychees left: “I, I’ve only eaten five.”

“You peel too fast!”

Qin Qing smiled and handed the white and tender lychee in his hand to Cui Huohuo: “I was distracted. Didn’t pay attention to it. You eat okay.”

Cui Huohuo wasn’t polite. He took it and curiously asked: “How do you peel so fast?”

Qin Qing used a tissue to wipe his hands,  “reflex, I’ve peeled them many times.”

Perhaps it’s because of Kou Jiang’s appearance that he was recalling bits of his past life, and speaking of peeling lychees, he subconsciously recalled something that happened in the past.

There was a year he offended a big boss and he, unfortunately, couldn’t find a relationship* to settle the matter. he had no choice and could only go himself to grovel and beg for mercy.

t/n: connection*

That man, to deliberately mess with him, said that he wanted to eat lychees and made him peel a sack of lychees.

Qin Qing almost peeled his thumb bald for this. And it was also after that time that he knew how to peel lychees the fastest.

Because after all, no matter the experience, until someone teaches it to you, you will normally have to experience it first-hand.

Today’s Qin Qing no longer wants to experience those messy things again, even if it was to peel lychees.

At this time, Cui Huohuo handed over a partly de-shelled lychee pulp. “I’m teasing you. There are many lychees.”

Qin Qing stretched out his hand to receive it.

Cui Huohuo happily ate and raised his eyebrows: “the visiting class really brought over a lot. If it hadn’t been enough, we could’ve just gone to take more again, in any case, our boss has face*4t/n: reputation; status.”

Qin Qing smiled and stuffed the fruit pulp into his mouth.

Ah, he nearly forgot. He was now the assistant of Boss Su.

And Kou Jiang was just a small intern. Nowadays if he wanted to move him, it really won’t be very easy.
